This is a renovated flat in a building built in 1903, set in the peaceful village of Walkerburn with a garden and hot tub that you will have use of during your stay. The rooms have 12' high ceilings and a wood burning stove in the lounge. For mountain bikers and golfers there is an Asgard secure storage shed in the garden as well as a wash down area with hose.
The house has been completely refitted and redecorated with a new kitchen which includes a washer/dryer, fridge freezer, dishwasher and microwave. There is a Nespresso machine along with a selection of good coffees to help start the morning. The main bedroom has a king size bed with a Leesa memory foam mattress and the other bedroom has a double bed with Emma mattress and an extra single bed. The heating is gas with on demand hot water and excellent pressure. The lounge has a wood burning stove with wood provided and a 50" TV with 4K streaming from Netflix and Amazon Prime. The internet is 300MB fibre optic with excellent wifi. There is a SNES mini, large selection of board games as well as cards and poker chips. The garden has an Asgard secure bike store with space for 4 bikes, golf clubs or other equipment. Also outside is a raised decking area with a sofa area, built-in pathway lighting on a timer and colourful festoons. The hot tub is big enough for 6 with bluetooth speakers and 84 jets to soothe the muscles. The tub is cleaned, refilled and chemically balanced before every stay. Towels and dressing gowns are provided.
Based in Walkerburn it's a one minute cycle to Plora and the Innerleithen mountain bike trails. The river Tweed runs in front of the house and the local area has excellent Trout and Salmon fishing. The village itself has a post office selling essentials, a cafe and a couple of pubs. It's only 20 minutes drive to Galashiels or Peebles and one hour north to Edinburgh.

The Mill, formerly the sawmill for Borthwick Hall, is a charming property built in the 1800s. The conversion of the building was completed in 2003 and is now a wonderful family home. My husband, Steve, and I moved up to Scotland from London in December 2017 and absolutely love it up here. With lovely people and beautiful open spaces, it’s the perfect place for us to relax and raise our kids. We love having friends and family visit and look forward to offering our space to guests as well.
The rooms we have for guests to stay make up a private suite situated above our garage with an external stairway for private access. There is a double room with a tv, sofa and wardrobe. All bed linen is provided with extra pillows if you need them. The spacious bathroom had a large bath and separate shower along with his and her sinks. There is a sitting room with sofa, table and chairs as well as kitchen facilities including cooker, microwave and fridge. We also offer a continental breakfast of cereals and homemade bread. Our house is supplied by private spring water so feel free to fill our water bottles for your days out. We are happy to accommodate babies and toddlers and we have a travel cot if needed. Please let us know if you have older children and would like to stay as we may be able to arrange a mattress or bed for them. There are some lovely places to walk nearby and we’d be happy to point them out to you.

  • Gdzie zacząć! Aneks Tashy jest piękny, super czysty i ma wszystko, czego potrzebujesz. Moja druga połowa i ja w ciągu dnia prowadziliśmy maraton w Edynburgu i moglibyśmy płakać z radości, gdy zobaczyliśmy rozmiar kąpieli! Wszystko zostało wykonane w wysokim standardzie, wystrój jest stylowy i nowoczesny, a kuchnia w pełni wyposażona. Domowy chleb był pyszny - podobało nam się na kolację z dżemem i znowu na śniadanie z jajkami. Dość luksusowy! Jesteśmy tylko smutni, że nie mogliśmy tu dłużej spędzić, okolica wygląda pięknie z wieloma atrakcjami. Jeszcze raz dziękuję za wspaniały, choć krótki pobyt! :)

    My home is a 2 bedroom ground floor flat on a quiet residential street in Gorebridge, a town with great train and bus links to Edinburgh and the Borders. The double room is at the back of the property with views to my large private garden, which you are also welcome to use. The bedroom is adjascent to the shared bathroom. There is a keysafe entry system for easy access throughout the day.
    I'm on a quiet residential street with on street parking. My home is calm and relaxed.
    There are several historical sites within a 10 mile radius of Gorebridge, including Newbattle Abbey, Borthwick Castle, Crichton Castle, Arniston House and the country parks at Vogrie and Dalkeith. I have a wide knowledge of walks in the area and would happily take guests for a hike if requested!

    Self- contained 1-bed flat in the heart of rural East Lothian. The flat is part of our family home, but has its own front door. Kitchen with hob, oven, dishwasher. Bedroom with double bed and plenty of cupboard space. En-suite bathroom with walk in shower. Living room with vaulted ceiling and patio doors onto small decking area leading to rear garden. Also access to sitting area in front garden. The flat has some adaptations suitable for the disabled.
    The flat is a recently built extension to our 19th century farm cottage - appropriately enough, surrounded by farmland. We have a couple of cats who roam the garden and will probably join you if you leave a door open!
    Our house is in the small hamlet of Glenkinchie, in the heart of East Lothian farming country. We are just a few yards up the hill from the Glenkinchie Distillery, East Lothian’s premier tourist attraction. We’re a few miles away from glorious beaches, golf courses galore, (including Muirfield and Gullane) and charming market towns. Head south and you can be up in the Lammermuir hills in 20 minutes or so. We’ve lived here for over 20 years and both work in Edinburgh, so can help out with local information, walks, restaurants, and so on.

Nick bardzo dobrze poinformował o okolicy, co pomogło nam, ponieważ nigdy wcześniej nie odwiedziliśmy tego obszaru. Mieszkanie było nieskazitelnie czyste i gustownie urządzone. Kuchnia była dobrze wyposażona. Dostępnych było wiele drobnych dodatków, co było miłym akcentem. W pięknej łazience mieliśmy mnóstwo ręczników. Było bardzo przytulnie, wcale nie było nam zimno. Wszystko miało bardzo wysoki standard. Ogród był piękny z salonu. Z pewnością polecamy to miejsce. Nie będziesz rozczarowany.     My place is close to public transport. You’ll love the cottage because of the outdoors space and the ambiance. The cottage is ideal for couples. The Scottish tourist board rate our cottage as four star standard. You are in the heart of the country but only 40 minutes from Edinburgh and most of the Scottish borders towns. Rolling hills, lots of walking, interesting places to see historical, cultural and modern.
    The cottage is warm and comfortable with views of the rolling borders countryside and direct access to the hills around. Recently renovated to a high standard this is a listed 18th century cottage next door to our house which used to an inn with a Robert Burns connection. The cottage has a garden with a decked area and barbeque and its own parking space. The living space has a log burner as well as central heating. The kitchen is fully fitted with Fridge freezer, cooker, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. The bedroom has a Superking sized bed but can be set up as two singles on request. No9 is ideally suited to sightsee in the Scottish Borders but is also very convenient for Edinburgh with very easy access.
    The Scottish borders gives access to many large country houses, ruined abbeys and castles. Fishing, golf, walking and mountain biking are all available locally. There is beautiful countryside all around and yet you are only 40 minutes from Edinburgh by train or car. Edinburgh is a very vibrant city full of interest.

Kominek jest jednak wspaniały, a drewno jest łatwo dostępne tuż za tylnymi drzwiami. Bliskość drogi do domku sprawia, że pobyt jest nieco mniej spokojny, ponieważ samochody mkną z prędkością 60 km / h, chociaż do końca naszego pobytu przestaliśmy to zauważać. Droga nie jest bezpieczna, ale wygląda na to, że mogą być ścieżki do wioski dostępne z tyłu ogrodu - nie zbadaliśmy. Otoczenie jest oszałamiająco malownicze, a ogród na zboczu pozwala na podziwianie pięknych widoków wieczorem.

Mimo, że znajduje się na głównej drodze (dzięki czemu bardzo łatwo ją znaleźć), ruch w ogóle nas nie denerwował, a mimo to było naprawdę spokojnie i było to cudowne miejsce na weekend. John był nieobecny przez kilka dni, kiedy przyjechaliśmy, więc Allwin spotkał się z nami, aby nas zameldować. Była niesamowicie miła i nie spała z powodu naszego późnego przyjazdu! Sam domek jest naprawdę cudownie wyposażony - zmywarka do naczyń ma tak duży wpływ na relaks, a łóżko (jak sądzę, króla ziplink) było niezwykle wygodne! Świetna kuchnia - mała, ale doskonale uformowana - i piękne akcenty, takie jak kufel mleka w lodówce, kiedy przyjechaliśmy, i paczka kruchego na tacy na herbatę.     You get you own double room, suitable for a solo traveler or a couple. I live here as my main home. ...Shower & hot water - the pressure is a bit slow but it gets hot, don't worry! ...Things are often changing in the house! I am *always* upgrading ...Room is spacious, lots of storage with loads of traveller amenities I have recently had my kitchen redone so PLEASE take extra care in there, thank you! Look after the space, clean as you go, and in shared areas too. There may be other guests, family or friends staying in our home at the same time as you, so keep shared areas clean and neat. The age of the house does reflect though what work needs doing BUT despite this many have said it's quite homely! Do leave the space as how you found it, thank you.
    🏡 Quiet, family-orientated neighbourhood, short walk into Bonnyrigg town centre with access to buses into Edinburgh, operating every 10 to 30 minutes depending on service. Journey length via public transport can take anything from 30 mins to over an hour depending on travel times, peak hours and service taken. 🎫 Nearby attractions include: 🏰 Rosslyn House 🏞️ Dalkeith Country Park 🍴 The Papermill restaurant 🐦 Birdworld 🦋 The Butterfly House 🔨 ...and IKEA!

    The Coach House is located a short distance from the idyllic East Lothian village of Humbie, nestled in the foothills of the Lammermuir Hills yet only 18 miles from the centre of Edinburgh. Situated on a small working sheep farm it is both a tranquil and accessible location which is also near to the Scottish Borders and the seaside coast and golf courses of East Lothian. It is ideal for a touring, golfing, fishing, walking or general sightseeing holiday.
    The accommodation comprises a fully fitted kitchen with breakfast bar and dining area, bathroom and utility room on the ground floor where there is ample storage and drying areas. The first floor has 2 bedrooms and living room served by relatively steep stairs with handrail. The main bedroom has an ensuite W.C and basin. There are seating areas around the cottage for relaxation outside. We do welcome guests with dogs but understandably only if well controlled as it is a working sheep farm.
    Only a short walk from The Coach House is Humbie village where guests can make use of the Humbie Hub for lunch and refreshments, shopping essentials and Post Office facilties.

    Perfect place to unwind, Walkerburn has a superb daytime café, a casual bar, and local shop within walking distance. Restaurants, Bars and a Supermarket are nearby in Innerleithen (2 miles). There is a cycle/walking path from us to Innerleithen away from the road along the tweed. Peebles and Galashiels (Cinema /Superstores/ Sports facilities/Theatre) are 20 minutes away. Glentress is nearby for world standard mountain biking and the hills surrounding us are full of walking and mountain biking trails. In Scotland we enjoy full access to the land, by law. Just pick a direction. Abbotsford , Traquair and Bowhill houses are a short drive. Yarrow and Ettrick Valleys are close with some outstanding country pubs. In the summer we have housemartins nesting at the house. There is a resident Heron, and an Osprey comes down from its nest to fish at the Tweed. Sheep graze just outside the gate and there is an abundance of wild rabbits. Further into the hills you will see Deer, red fox, and red squirrels. If you're patient, you may see Salmon leaping.

    You have exclusive use of the annex for your stay with your own private entrance. Walk in through the patio doors into a double height spacious lounge where you can relax in front of a traditional wood burning fire. You also have your own private kitchen and shower room. The double bed is located on the mezzanine level. We always take care to clean to a high standard including cleaning frequently touched surfaces between reservations. 1 car parking space is available. Wood for the fire is provided.
    Borthwick is a small hamlet in the picturesque valley overlooked by the 15th Century Borthwick Castle, with the mark of Cromwell's cannonballs etched into the wall from the failed 1650 siege. The castle was visited by Mary Queen of Scots in 1563 and 1567 and more recently used for filming the film Outlaw King. There is lots of nature in Borthwick valley, such as owls, deer, geese, herons and other animals. Walkers and cyclists are spoilt for choice withthe option of a woodland walk through Currie Woods to nearby Crichton Castle, Vogrie Country Park and the Innerleithen cycle route all being closeby. The wider area has distilleries, a mining museum, horse riding, golf courses and Arniston House. Nearby, East Lothian has a range of spectacular beaches. Edinburgh city centre is 16 miles away where you can enjoy a huge range of cultural, historic and architectural attractions or hit the shops for some retail therapy, cinemas, museums or the Arts Festival and Festival Fringe in the summer. Closer by is Gorebridge, a nearby village which has a selection of shops, takeaways and services. There is also a 24 hour Tesco Superstore and petrol station less than 7 miles away.

    My house is a traditional 2 bed cottage in the centre of Lauder. Close to the rail link to Edinburgh and on the A68, 26 miles south of Edinburgh. The spacious, comfortable bedroom has a kingsize bed. All eateries and pubs are short walking distance.
    I offer my guests a comfortable relaxed place to stay. I'm happy for guests to use the kitchen to cook meals and hang out and watch TV in the sitting room if they want to.
    Lauder is a small quiet town in the Scottish Borders. There are good local places to eat and small independent shops to browse in.

    An ideal spot for couples,solo adventurers,business travellers, families and furry friends. The cottage is situated in acres of stunning countryside with a stream running through the garden. It is equipped with a super king sized bed and extra sofa bed. Come and enjoy the countryside with the wildlife on your doorstep as well as the huge range of activities available nearby. Relax and unwind in front of the open fire.For the sightseers its only a 30 minute drive into the centre of Edinburgh!
    An easy spot to unwind but also a great base for walking, golfing, cycling, sightseeing in Edinburgh and the Borders, fishing and is close to the East Lothian beaches. The property is part of an old small holding farm which kept sheep up until recently. The cottage is next door to the main Keith Bridge House, a small 2 bedroom property where the tenants Jemima and Tim live and will welcome you and be available to help if there is anything that you need. Both properties date back to the 1850s with the cottage undergoing a recent renovation. Well known ornithologist George Waterston lived here for a number of years documenting the abundance of bird life found around the property. The stream has fish running through with herons, geese and ducks often patrolling up and down. Otters have been spotted but that is only if you are very lucky! We are pet friendly and have a large garden for dogs to safely run around in.
    The small village of Humbie is just over a mile up the road. There is a lovely cafe and general store called ‘The Humbie Hub’. The stunning Humbie church is just a short walk from the house as well as a busy Humbie village hall that often has events on in the village including film nights and coffee mornings. Just up the road the ‘Juniperlee’ is a well renowned eatery with good food. The quaint village of Gifford is around a 15 minute drive away where you can find two good pubs, the Goblin Ha and the Tyneside Tavern. For the golfers there is also the Gifford and Castle Park golf courses nearby as well as the many well renowned East Lothian courses. There are some lovely cycle routes around the quieter back roads of East Lothian that are easily accessed from the cottage. Closer to home enjoy lovely country walks around the Keith Marishal loop and Humbie Woods as well as plenty more. For the more adventurous the Lammermuir Hills are very close by to get some hill walks in! For the whisky lovers the well known Glenkinchie Whisky Distillery is only a five minute drive away or a 45 minute leisurely country walk...

    The Little House on the Hill is a bijou part of this gorgeous stone-built house on a farm. It is the right hand wing of the house in the picture. A perfect place for chilling out, being outdoors, accessing Edinburgh, and moseying around Border towns. Cosy & modern, lovely open plan kitchen & lounge. The larger house next door is also available.
    Little House on the Hill is available for 2-4 guests on a self catering basis. The cottage forms part of Hillhouse farm in the Scottish Borders which is also home to a few thousand sheep. The Sutherland family have farmed here for over 80 years across 3 generations. It's a fantastic place - sitting high on the hills overlooking Lauderdale it really does have tremendous views. The Little House on the Hill is an old shepherd's house but it's been refurbished recently so now you'll find it to be modern & cosy. It has a lovely open plan kitchen / living room, two good sized bedrooms and a small shower room. The house next door, the House on the Hill, is also available - it has virtually the same facilities as the Little House on the Hill but is much larger with an extra bathroom and separate kitchen and lounge. There are interconnecting doors between the two houses which we unlock if both properties are being rented by one party. The House on the Hill can, of course, also be rented completely separately.
    Staying on a working sheep farm in the Lauderdale area is a 'best of all worlds' location: it's the perfect place for chilling out, being outdoors, accessing Edinburgh (including the Festival), and moseying around historic Border towns. There is so much to do, you just have to work out how much you want to pack in!

    Built in 2002 my home is modern yet comfortable and homely. I am offering a private bedroom with large double bed and private bathroom. If required I also have a single small bedroom available in addition which if required at the same time as the double bedroom, would be £25 inc of breakfast. The Cottage is on the outskirts of Lauder which offers a variety of shops, cafes, eateries and pubs.
    The Cottage is on the outskirts of Lauder about ten minutes walk to the centre so there is little noise or light pollution. I share my home with a rescued Jack Russell who is very friendly. There are wonderful walks nearby around Thirlestane Castle (my neighbours) and the Southern Upland Way goes through Lauder. The Border towns of Melrose, Kelso and Jedburgh for example offer ruined abbeys, castles and historic sites amongst wonderful countryside.
    About a quarter of a mile from Lauder town centre surrounded by farmland so it is situated ideally for a relaxing stay yet with easy access to Border towns.

Within easy access of our home are woodland and river walks, Rosslyn Chapel, Rosslyn Castle, the Pentland hills and Roslin Glen. Roslin has a local pub which serves food. We are friendly hosts with good local knowledge. We share our home with a cat and a chocolate Labrador. Your bedroom has its own designated bathroom next to your room.
    Our home is a modern, light, split level house. We are keen gardeners which makes the outside area very inviting.
    Roslin has a newsagent, grocery shop, pharmacy, medical centre, dentist surgery, beauty salon and a pub. There is an Italian restaurant which is 10 minutes walk away. Nearby there is a retail park which has a range of national retailers and restaurants. We are 5 minutes walk from Rosslyn Chapel and Castle.

    Situated just 9 miles from Edinburgh and with lovely views of the Pentland Hills from the garden, this welcoming Bothy is the perfect base for a relaxing break away. The property is very well furnished and decorated. The area is superb for walking with many waymarked routes around and many options to choose in the Pentland Hills Regional Park. There are frequent buses from Straiton Park & Ride into Edinburgh, making it simple to relax and enjoy the city.
    We have a biomass boiler which means that the house will be warm all the time. This is great especially in the winter! If you have extra guests to stay, we also have a sofa bed in the kitchenette/living room.
    Peebles, 13 miles, is ideal for a browse, with galleries, craft and gift shops, and a good range of restaurants and cafés. Keen mountain bikers will enjoy a trip to Glentress, or visit Go Ape for a fun day out. The property is ideally located for exploring further afield as it takes little time to head over the Queensferry Crossing into Fife and Perthshire. The towns of the Scottish Borders make for an excellent day out, with stunning scenery, ancient abbeys and pretty villages to discover. Beach 12 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

    This cosy farm cottage comfortably sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms each with ensuite facilities. Carrick cottage is the upper level of a converted farm building. A log burning stove, (logs provided) will warm up your comfy sitting room quickly, after a busy day in the beautiful city of Edinburgh just 10kms to the north. We are surrounded by woodland walks on country tracks, with very little traffic so ideal for children, horses and dogs.
    Our farm cottage is fully equipped for the perfect town and country holiday, just 30 minutes drive south of Edinburgh city centre, situated on our working farm. We are surrounded by gentle countryside, ancient Sequoia trees and paddocks where horses graze and roe deer roam. The cottage has 2 bedrooms comprising one kingsize double room and one twin bedded room, both with ensuite facilities. You can park right at the door and there is a ramp for disabled access. There is a patio area with table and chairs off the conservatory, which in turn is off the lounge. All linen, towels, oil for central heating and logs for log-burning Squirrel stove are included. It is preferable that you have a car, as we are a 10 minute walk on farm roads (with no street lights) to the village and nearest bus to Edinburgh. Having said that, the bus service is good and regular, so not essential to have a car. We also have a local, friendly taxi driver in the village. Eskbank station is a15 minute drive away where you catch regular trains (taking 18 minutes) into Waverley station. The Farm just a 5 minute walk from the cottages is a working farm, so you can see sheep, cattle and plenty of horses, as we have a livery yard. We can also offer horse B&B! There are some excellant pubs and restaurants all within 10 minutes drive of the farm and of course the famous Rosslyn Chapel of Da Vinci Code fame is just across Roslin glen, a lovely 40 minute walk or 10 minute drive. Whitehill Golf Course is a pretty 9 hole course just outside your cottage. Two more challenging 18 holes courses are less than 10 minutes drive away. St Andrews is an easy 1hour 40mins drive so treat yourself to a game there! The many fine historic castles and houses of the borders are an easy drive, as is the road north to the Highlands and islands. The Pentland Hills for great walks and wildlife are on our doorstep. We love living here and really enjoy sharing our part of bonnie Scotland
    The first tee of Whitehill Golf course is on your doorstep. Lovely walks through deciduous woodland beside the river Esk from your door.

    Bonnyrigg is typical Scottish community situated just outside Edinburgh. A short distance from both the city centre and countryside, you will have the opportunity to explore both. There are lots of local bars and restaurants in the surrounding area and we would be more than happy to point you in the direction of some of our favourites.

There is a bus just around the corner that has a frequent service into Edinburgh for just £1.70 each way. 15 minutes walk, 3 minute drive to Gorebridge train station with trains every 30 minutes into Edinburgh Waverley. There is a local co-operative just around the corner and a lovely restaurant with a great reputation a stone’s throw away - The Coronation.
    The entire place is available to you when you stay. You will have use of all facilities including the kitchen, washing machine and iron. Please note, there is a king size bed in the first room and a single bed in the second room. Upon request, the sofa can be made up for an additional guest.

    Formerly the sculleries for Thirlestane Castle, this part of the South Wing has been beautifully transformed into a high-end one-bedroom apartment. Accessed from the mezzanine of the castle’s Cobbled Courtyard, guests look out over the castle gardens to the rear with double-height windows throughout. The traditional flagstone floor in the hallway is a reminder of the apartment’s past, as is the historic mangle which has been re-purposed into a beautiful hallstand. The soft greens of the gardens outside have inspired the restoration of the space and link the bedroom with the natural beauty of its surroundings. The stunning sleigh bed and wardrobe were used by the Maitland family in their private rooms. Luxurious, heavy fabric frames the three tall windows as the room is flooded with dappled light through the nearby trees.     The apartment is just 10-minutes' walk from the pretty town of Lauder. Here you will find a number of shops including convenience stores, a butcher, bakery and fruit and veg shop. There are also several pubs, a cafe/gallery and a restaurant. The Scottish Borders is so popular because of the sheer range of activities packed into such a small and accessible region - historic houses and castles, exciting festivals, arts and crafts, delicious local produce and miles of rolling hills, beautiful valleys and the Berwickshire coastline. For those that love the outdoors there is a variety of different activities available close at hand including horse riding, exhilarating cycling routes, fishing, golf and spectacular walking – the Southern Upland Way crosses the Thirlestane Estate. There is a small community leisure centre in Lauder which has a fully equipped gym that is available on a ‘pay as you go’ basis. The Scottish Borders is also renowned for its variety of crafts and is famous for producing quality textiles such as tweed, cashmere and tartan. Take a visit to a traditional workshop and workers will be more than happy to demonstrate their skills. There are several places throughout the Borders that offer visitor experiences including Lochcarron in Selkirk. The town of Hawick is the home of cashmere and there are several mills to visit here along with the Borders Distillery. Lots of the local attractions have children’s programmes such as Paxton House, Bowhill and Edinburgh Castle and many of the local towns have special places for small people. Watch out for Pot-a-Doodle Do near Berwick, the Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary near St Boswells and the opportunity to monkey around swinging between the trees at Go Ape near Pebbles. During the summer, the town’s main event is the Lauder Common Riding Festival where today’s residents commemorate the times when their forbearers patrolled the boundaries of their settlements on horseback. Join in the week-long festival and watch as standard-bearers elected by the townspeople enact ancient ceremonies and experience the exhilaration of seeing hundreds of riders galloping past amid a flurry of banners.

    Walkerburn is an attractive original tweed mill village beside the world famous salmon River Tweed. Upper Caberston Beat. The village is a classic example of local patronage by the owning weaving families with primary school, clubs, village hall, pub/restaurant, cafe & post office. Lovely riverside walks Sustrans route, hill walks and mountain biking from our door. Trailforks App. Plenty of pubs within 2 miles, cafe in village 10-4, and other restaurants and shops close by -( 1 mile), and this is an area full of historic interest. Houses and gardens to visit and only an hour by car from the centre of Edinburgh. Cinema/theatre nearby too. Bike hire, Go Ape and riding stables too.

    The vibrant city of Edinburgh is worth a visit anytime of year. After a busy day exploring Edinburgh's historic streets return "home" to cosy Kyle cottage on Thornton Farm, open a bottle of wine and put your feet up in front of a log burning stove.
    Our farm cottage is fully equipped for the perfect town and country holiday, just 20 minutes drive south of Edinburgh city centre, situated on our working farm. We are surrounded by gentle countryside, ancient Sequoia trees and paddocks where horses graze and roe deer roam. Kyle (Farm) Is the lower level of a converted farm building. Kyle cottage has 2 bedrooms comprising one kingsize double room and one twin bedded room. The lounge/dining/kitchen area is fully equipped with electric oven, ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer are in a separate laundry room attached to the cottage. Comfy seating with TV integral DVD player, freeview and Wifi. Please note that there is no bath, it is a large walk-in wet room consisting of shower, wash hand basin and toilet also suitable for wheelchair access. There is ample car parking right at the door and a patio area with table and chairs. All linen, towels, oil for central heating and logs for log-burning Squirrel stove is included. It is preferable that you have a car, as we are a 10 minute walk on farm roads (with no street lights) to the village and nearest bus to Edinburgh. Having said that, the bus service is good and regular, so not essential to have a car. We also have a local, friendly taxi driver in the village. Eskbank station is a 15 minute drive where you can park for free all day and catch regular trains into Edinburgh taking 18 minutes. The Farm is a 5 minute walk from the cottage. Thornton is a working farm, so you can see sheep, cattle and plenty of horses, as we have a livery yard. We can also offer horse B&B! There are some excellant pubs and restaurants all within 10 minutes drive of the farm and of course the famous Rosslyn Chapel of Da Vinci Code fame is just across Roslin glen, a lovely 40 minute walk or 10 minute drive. Whitehill Golf Course is a pretty 9 hole course just outside your cottage. Two more challenging 18 holes courses are less than 10 minutes drive (website hidden) St Andrews is an easy 1hour 40mins drive so treat yourself to a game there! The many fine historic castles and houses in the "borders", an easy drive South, as is the road north to the Highlands and islands. The Pentland Hills for great walks and wildlife are on our doorstep. We love living here and really enjoy sharing our part of Bonnie Scotland

    A comfortable bright double room with a queen size bed and storage space. Bed linen and towels are provided. There is off or on street parking. This is a cottage near the centre of Dalkeith with a quiet rear garden with woodland behind. There are regular buses (2 mins walk) & trains into Edinburgh. The train station is a 10-15 minute walk with service to central Edinburgh Waverley (19 mins) or to the border towns of Galashiels and Melrose. Good for both professionals and Edinburgh visitors.
    An 1827 cottage that has been recently modernised, freshly decorated, with a new kitchen, bathroom, attic conversion and a delightful rear garden, with rich woodlands and wildlife behind. There's plenty of space to relax in a well equipped kitchen. A kettle, tea, coffee and water are available in the bedrooms. In nice weather, you can enjoy the garden. We do our best to respect quiet time between 11pm and 7am.
    Dalkeith Country Park a 10 mins walk away; within the park, there are a whole range of events. What's on depends on the time of your visit. The 'Restoration Yard' is located in a reimagined 18th century stables and courtyard in the heart of a thousand acre estate, with a cafe, restaurant, a well-being lab, shops and woodland walk. Newbattle Abbey within 10/15 mins walk away, Roslin Chapel (Da-Vinci code) 20mins drive, Melrose Abbey, 40 mins drive, or easy access via the train.
