  • Po prostu łał! Dziękuję bardzo za piękny pobyt w pięknym domku. Nie mogłem nic zarzucić. Co za szczęście! Twoje przemyślane akcenty naprawdę nam to przyniosły!

Our charming shepherds' huts sit in the old orchard of our farm in the village of Bowness on Solway, Cumbria. The site is named 'The Garrison' as it sits on the remains of the former Roman fort of Maia, a world heritage site at the end of Hadrian's Wall. Bowness itself is in an area of outstanding natural beauty sitting on the Solway Estuary which separates England from South West Scotland. We are 40 minutes from the Lake District and 20 minutes from the historic city of Carlisle.
Our quirky huts are rustic but include all modern amenities. This is glamping with a difference, kick back in our garden space, light the chimenea, open the wine and relax on the site of the second largest fort on the Roman Wall. Walk in the steps of the soldiers from the Roman cavalry stationed in this farthest outpost of the Empire. If it gets chilly you can return to your hut, light the wood burning stove, pop on the kettle and plan your next day's adventure. There are many nature reserves in the local area and all within walking distance. If you have your own transport why not visit the Victorian seaside resort of Silloth with its award winning golf course and sandy beaches. Have a day in Carlisle and visit its castle, cathedral, museum or go to Keswick and sample the beauty of the Lake District and maybe scale a fell or two!

    Bowness-on-Solway, Anglia, Wielka Brytania

A detached cottage set in an elevated position overlooking the Solway and having direct access to a private beach.. Set at the end of a rough track, Waterside Cottage is a real hidden gem, a beautiful, idyllic, charm filled cottage in a private location with its own stretch of beach overlooking the Solway. Once you tear yourself away from playing on the beach, the cottage itself boasts original flagstone floors throughout, is comfortably furnished, with spacious rooms (most of which have stunning, ever changing views) and three wood burners to snuggle up in front of. Ideal for both families and groups of friends, there will be arguments over who gets which of the double rooms; one is very large with a wood burner and patio doors while the other has a double aspect view of the sea from the bed. Looking out to sea, one way you see nothing but the horizon, the other way looks over to Cumbria and you can watch the sun set behind Criffel. To make the most of the fresh coastal air, there are several different seating areas so you can enjoy some al fresco dining while spotting the great range of wildlife. When you feel like exploring away from the cottage, there is plenty to do in the area from paintballing to distillery tours, shopping at Gretna, pubs and cafes in nearby Annan and a host of local museums including the interestingly named Devil’s Porridge Museum which has nothing to do with porridge and is all about the World Wars! Locally, bird lovers can visit the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Caerlaverock Wetland Centre (featured in BBC’s Autumnwatch). There are several excellent golf courses in the area including the championship standard semi links course at Powfoot just a few miles along the coast.

Historic castles and ruins, museums, beaches, quaint towns and seaside villages such as Kirkubright, Kippford and Rockcliffe. At the far west end of the Solway Coast you’ll find the most southern lighthouse in Scotland, which is perched on the edge of a 260 ft high cliff. Truly one of Scotland’s finest panoramic views, on a clear day from the lighthouse you can gaze out across four kingdoms. Admire the Galloway Hills and western islands of Scotland, the Isle of Man, the Cumbrian Fells of England and the Northern Irish coastline. CRIFFEL stands dominant, like a border guard, to the North of Powfoot, looking over the Solway Firth to England. The 360-degree panorama, affords, one of the best views in Scotland. Criffel may be only 569 metres high, but its modest altitude belies its prominence, rising as the highest hill for miles around and dominating the Solway coastline. The ascent is short and steep, with stunning views of the Solway, its estuaries and across to the English Lake District. Dumfries has links with Robert the Bruce and Robert Burns; Gretna Green is the original quickie marriage one stop solution and Eskdalemuir is site of Samye Ling, the first Buddhist monastery in the west, a still thriving community with an impressive Tibetan temple, with a range of courses on offer. Caerlaverock’s Wetlands Centre, close by, is open all year round to show visitors the coastal landscapes and nature during every season. The most famous member of the wild life is the wild flocks of Svalbard, Arctic Ocean, Barnacle Geese between the months of October and April. Caerlaverock Castle, dating from 1270, is situated 5 miles from here, and is one of Scotland's best ruined castles and not to be missed. Also close by, and of historic interest is, the Ruthwell Cross which dates from the 8th century. It's huge at 17 feet and once stood right on the shores of the Solway Firth. Today it's housed in Ruthwell's parish church, within a few miles, from Powfoot. Visit the ancient ruins of Sweetheart Abbey (once a bustling Cistercian order) at New Abbey. The Devil's Porridge, at East Riggs, 5 miles from Powfoot, is an amazing exhibition and tells the story of the Greatest Munitions Factory on earth. During 1915, Britain was losing the Great War through the lack of munitions supplies. Dumfries Museum will delight aviation history buffs with its restored RAF control tower from World War II and collection of memorabilia from the town's rich aviation history. The Theatre Royal plays its own productions and receives visits from other theatre companies. Exhibitions and a collection of Scottish paintings at the Gracefield Arts Centre. The surrounding areas of Dumfries, particularly south at New Abbey towards the shores of the Solway Firth, hold a number of historic attractions, museums, a farm park and a vast Stately home country park attraction at Drumlanrig near Thornhill. Annandale distillery has now officially re-opened in Annan, which last produced a Lowland Malt 90 years ago. Well worth a visit. The iconic Caul upon the river Nith below the ancient Devorgilla Bridge is of early origin, in Dumfries town centre, known as White Sands. The Dumfries Forest Park covers 300 acres making it the largest and darkest, star gazing, forest park in Scotland, offering a wide range of outdoor activities for visitors. Annan's location on the first fordable part of the Solway Firth has always been of great importance. Because of its position, Annan suffered from many attacks during the Wars of Independence and border reiving. In recognition of the towns resistance and loyalty a Charter was granted to Annan by King James V in 1538. The town's Royal Burgh status was reaffirmed in 1612 by King James VI. Each year the Royal Burgh of Annan celebrates The Riding Of The Marches. Annan Riding of the Marches Day will be held on 1st July 2019, a family day for everyone, with the best of Scotlands marching pipe bands, competing.

The cottage is of a traditional Cumbrian style . Comfortable, clean, and charming but with all your homely needs including a smart TV and free wifi. The cosy sitting-room has a new Clearview woodburner .There is a separate well-equipped kitchen/diner and adishwasher to make life easier. The delightful garden opposite is a sunny and private haven where you can sit and read by day or watch the amazing stars at night.1 well behaved dog by arrangement and small fee.
This is a place to rest and unwind for a night or two. To Pass through too quickly and you will miss the quirkiness of this little corner of the Northern frontier of the Roman Empire. The Haaf netters fishermen using an ancient an unique netting technique. The road over wide open salt marshes where the sheep and cattle roam freely. The old harbour and dock at "Port". Watching the tide come in and shift the wading birds gently. The friendliness and the dry humour of we nutty Northerners. You wont be sorry.
Quiet but friendly and once we get talking we like to know what's what. There are quite a few walkers of Hadrian's wall so the pub can sometimes be quite a mix of locals and international visitors. The area is mainly smaller mixed farms with dairy cattle some beef and sheep. You may well meet a tractor or two . The sea air is soporific and the views over the Solway and west at sunset can be breathtakingly beautiful. The lakes can be reached in 35 to40minutes and Cockermouth is a great place to go to Wordsworth s house, Jennings brewery tours with tastings, and more.

Our charming shepherds' huts sit in the old orchard of our farm in the village of Bowness on Solway, Cumbria. The site is named "The Garrison" as it sits on the remains of the former Roman fort of Maia, a world heritage site at the end of Hadrian's Wall.
