Only steps from the Pacific Ocean, you can hear the sounds and rhythms of the sea, breathe fresh salt air and watch weather rolling in from the ocean 24/7.
Cambria can have spectacular sunsets which you can view from the beach or boardwalk, or while sipping a glass of wine at the Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill outdoor patio.
On the beach each you can collect Cambria "moonstones," walk or just contemplate. The ocean is cold, the climate is temperate and breezy-- surfing in wet suit is good, but don't count on swimming on Moonstone Beach. However, San Simeon Cove is 8 miles up the road and is more protected where you can go in the water.
You will have a separate entrance, private apartment with your own patio on the lower floor of the building. Parking is upstairs and across the street on a level, off street parking space. You can pull into the driveway to unload, then cross over to the parking space. This is a very safe community; but you should keep your car locked.

DROUGHT: Currently Cambria, like most of California, is experiencing a severe drought. Hotels, motels and restaurants are limiting water use (they offer bottled water at cost instead of filling water glasses at table) and residents are on water rationing. You will be asked to do all you can to reduce water usage. See "House Rules.."
CHILD SAFETY: The apartment is not officially child proofed (electric outlets are not plugged, cupboards and drawers are not child proofed, etc.). There are no special hazards, but parents are responsible for the safety of their children inside and outside the house. Do not leave young children unattended.
SECURITY: Lock all doors to the outside (four) when leaving the property. Burn only manufactured logs in fireplace (DuraFlame, Presto)
Avoid creating smoke while cooking. Our smoke alarms are very sensitive.
EMERGENCY: Follow the instructions provided.
NO SMOKING anywhere in the house. You can smoke on your patio provided you use the ash tray and respect the elevated fire danger due to the drought. Do not flick ash into the shrubbery or grass.
WATER CONSERVATION: All California is experiencing drought. Water rationing is in effect in Cambria. Here are some guidelines for conserving:
Do not leave water running at any time
Take brief showers
Turn water off while brushing teeth
Wet hands, turn off tap, soap up then rinse
Limit toilet flushing to what is necessary
Use bottled water for drinking, coffee, tea, etc.
Scrape but don't rinse dishes before placing in dishwasher
We ask you not to use the bathtub unless necessary. If you do, we request a $10 fee for excess water use.
We appreciate your cooperation and hope this situation will be resolved this year with expected rain.
OCCUPANCY: No more than four people sleep in the apartment; up to eight people (you and your guests) for entertaining..
NOISE: Limit noise after 10 pm and before 7 am. Please respect our neighbors' right to enjoy their peaceful stay in Cambria.
DEPARTURE: Make arrangements to return key.
CONDUCT: Disorderly conduct (loud noise, altercation, drunkenness, abuse or destruction of property) will result in your being required to leave.
My husband, Ian, and I built our dream home in Cambria after retiring from our careers in San Francisco.
After decades in my own business as a graphic designer & print broker. I now have a second career as a sculptor working in my studio at home. I am currently active with the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art Sculptors Group and have given much time to coordinate art exhibits and further the arts in San Luis Obispo and Cambria. I was born and educated in New York.
Ian retired from Information Technology, started a small business and now spends his time between "honey do" lists and creating fine art jewelry and objects from fused glass. He also volunteers on the local Emergency Rescue Team. He is an avid sailor and sort of fisherman. He is originally from Wellington, New Zealand.
We love to travel (most recently Merida, Yucatan), ski, cook, entertain, make wine, drum circle, spend time with friends and walk our lovely beach.
Our Airbnb space is a separate apartment. We will welcome you in and give any suggestions or recommendations you wish. Other than that, we will leave you alone and it is up to you if you want additional contact.
We live upstairs and are usually available to answer questions or help.
