The footbridge gives access to vehicles parked over the valley. You will also find a hammock and seats shaded by the trees, please feel free to spend time here relaxing by the stream .... so peaceful!

Arriving:Route 1: This track is not suitable for small cars or hire cars. This rough track access forms part of your mountain experience. It climbs up through the forest, you'll be eye to eye with Kites and Buzzards! Then a steep drop takes you down the valley to a small hamlet of 3 quintas, ours is the one on right with the cabin situated further down the track.
Route 2: An alternative and much shorter route is an easy access track across the ribeira (stream) from our cabin, with a 5 min walk across our footbridge and up the grassy terraces to the site. On arrival, we will meet you in Benfeita in our trusty old Range Rover and show you where to park your car, then bring you and your luggage to the cabin.
Since cell phone signal can be difficult in the Valley we suggest that you contact us on reaching Coja, we will then set off and meet you in BENFEITA square/esplanada, near the post office opposite the kiosk, easy to find. We'll then show you the best place to park your car and transport you and your luggage to the Cabin. Your car can be seen and accessed from the cabin even if across the stream!
Directions: from Coja take the Pisao Rd, go through Pisao when you reach a main junction it will be signposted Benfeita, turn right here, you will go through the village of Dreia, carry on this winding road about 1 km untill you reach the sign for Benfeita, just after this and before you get to the village there is a road on the left, on the wall here you will see post boxes. Carry straight on to the little roundabout, turn right and immediately left into Benfeita 200 metres you will be in the esplanada.
For those travelling on public transport we offer a pick up service from Coimbra which is 1 hour 30 mins from here, the cost is 30 euros each way. Alternatively, there is a coach service from Coimbra to Catraia do Mouronho which is 40 mins drive from Benfeita, we can pick up from this point, the cost is 15 euros each way.

Steve is my husband, we're Yorkshire folk (UK) and together we look after our airbnb Cabin and our amazing guests. We retired from Education in 2011 and bought a small schist ruin and quinta (farm) in this beautiful part of Central Portugal. We moved here 5 years ago and lived in our Cabin for 2 years whilst renovating the main house. We're not builders, so it's been an interesting journey planning, designing and rebuilding the house, which we really now enjoy! We also love living off grid, working the land, building bridges, growing food, managing our water and power supply, it's so rewarding! We have a gorgeous 13 years old English Springer Spaniel called Tilly, she's very friendly and loves other dogs. We both enjoy meeting people and are happy to share our experiences of living here in Portugal. We look forward to meeting many more lovely people and giving a warm welcome into this wonderful Valley.
