Large beautifully appointed detached house with spectacular views of the Duddon Estuary and the Lake District fells. Within walking distance of all local amenities and easy reach of the world famous mountains and lakes. Would suit families or groups

Dog Bank is situated in a small hamlet within walking distance of Broughton which has shops, cafes, three excellent pubs, & a restaurant. The house is very spacious with breath-taking views of the Duddon Estuary and surrounding mountains. The large front garden is on three levels with access to the sands and there are numerous seating areas around the house to enjoy the sun in the morning or the sunsets at night . The bedrooms are large and spacious (one could take an extra single bed and sleep 3 people )two of which are on suite with showers and there is a bathroom with bath and shower. Wooden floors throughout downstairs and an open fire and a wood burning stove for chillier evenings.

Dog Bank is a fabulous base for access to most places in the Lake District and there are some wonderful walks straight from the house and bike rides both mountain and road. The local village is 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes by car and there is a wonderful real ale pub with home cooked food 5 minutes walking distance from the house.

Please note pricing is seasonal and the nightly rates quoted are for a minimum 7 night stay and for 2 bedrooms sleeping up to 4 people.
Wifi is available at no extra charge. The price also includes bed linen, towels, electricity, gas (The property has full central heating). A supply of logs is provided for the log burning stove.

The house is non -smoking we do allow pets but would expect them to be well behaved and not go on the furniture. We would hope you would leave the house in a reasonably clean and tidy state on leaving and hope that you will have a wonderful holiday.

We had a very pleasant holiday and can attest that the house is very welcoming and well furnished. At the southern end of the Lakes, it is within good reach of all the major attractions. Comfortable for a family visit for sure.

The location of the house is perfect for families wanting to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Lake District but also being able to access all the amazing activities that the area has to offer - mountain biking in Grizedale Forest, gorge walking, abseiling down a slate mine, sailing, fell walking, etc etc! Access to the house is over a railway line so you soon become 'best friends' with the operators who man the gates, sheep pass by the front door and the set up at the local pub adds to the quirkiness! The next village on is Broughton which is an easy cycle ride away and it has a couple of cafes and pubs as well as shops for daily provisions. So, even without booking up any specific activities we would have been happy just staying around the house (it is very comfortable and spacious) and doing local cycle rides, walks and even train rides from the house. We had good email contact with Andy the host prior to our stay and were met on arrival by Gill who lives locally and who gave us plenty of information about the area - the options were too much for us to cover in one week so we will definitely go back! We love living in the Lake District as we are keen walkers, climbers, bikers and runners & its all on our doorstep. We have two teenagers and two Jack Russell's who also adore walking in the mountains and the surrounding countryside. We hope you will love it here as much as we do.
