We (me, my husband, my 14 year old daughter) stayed at Anna's place one night in August 2017 on our way back home from the South of Italy. We reserved Anna's place on rather short notice (reserved around 16.00, arrived at around 19.30).
Anna's apartment is a 30 to 40 square meter attic in a large farmhouse in central Italy. The views from the apartment are fantastic. The apartment is well-equipped, including a washing machine and lots of kitchen utensils. The only thing that the apartment really misses, facility-wise, is a good cooling device, as it is an attic with only two openable windows. The bit of draft those windows produce is not enough to bring down the temperature to a reasonable level. To better the temperature we asked Anna for a ventilator, which she did put outside of the apartment, although only at 1 am when we were already sleeping.
The owners seem nice enough, although we have not seen much of them. When we arrived they were about to go out to a village party. They showed us the apartment quickly but sufficiently. We have not seen them again, as we found nobody around the house when we left.
The key problem I had with this apartment were it's hygienic conditions.
- The bathroom bin still contained sanitary napkins from previous guests (we used a separate garbage bag because I don't want to touch it);
- The surface of the dining table was very sticky and greasy, and we found a dead silverfish on it;
- There was a thick layer of dust on some of the furniture in the bedroom.
To us it seemed that the apartment had not been cleaned at all prior to our arrival; or indeed very sloppily. I cannot tell if that had to do with the fact that we reserved on very short notice, or if this is a systematic issue with the apartment. I do find that unacceptable, even more so because Anna charges 20 Euros of cleaning costs even for one night!
All in all, a potentially very nice place to stay, even for a longer period, but I hope others will find it cleaner.
