Small but cozy apartment in historic Inn.

This is a VERY BASIC SPACE not a traditional B&B room. Intended for guests who just want a base camp to explore the area.

Three minute walk to vineyard next door and only a 9 minute drive to UVA. Contact us for special rates for stays of 1 week or more.

Has private bath, WiFi, frige, microwave, linens, towels shampoo etc.

VERY BASIC SPACE with a minimum 3 day stay.

We are located 9 minutes from UVA but surrounded by several thousand open acres, The Historic Crossroads Tavern Inn is at Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyard, next to Loving Cup Vineyard and Albemarle Ciderworks in a tavern built by Thomas Jefferson's nephew.

In addition to the tavern we live on-site in a 1785 Church, Schoolhouse and the original Summer Kitchen are on the property. The entire property is a National Historic Site and a Virginia Landmark.

This was used as the owner's quarters by previous owners and has a maximum occupancy of two adults (children are not allowed by fire code) It has a bedroom and a private bathroom but is not intended to be as indulgent as the regular Inn rooms.

Breakfast can be added on for free or for a nominal charge depending on season and days of the week.

There is a refrigerator and a microwave in the suite. Linens, towels, toiletries and WIFI and one free parking space are all provided as is once a week maid service.

However the space is spartan and is intended for use as an inexpensive base camp for weekly guests not as a place for a romantic getaway like the normal bed and breakfast rooms.

Dostęp gości

We live in a 1785 Anglican Church, this apartment is in the 1820 Tavern, so there is 24/7 access and you do not enter or exit any personal residence, so coming and going is not restricted in any way.

It was great to see Jim and Janet. They mentioned in their requirement that we have to check in by 9. I was running late and he was waiting for me at the door. I had some car trouble on the way and Jim helped me with guidance and followed up on it. I was there for a week. It was a great experience.

Jim was extremely helpful in helping us find our way around Charlottesville and the neighboring vineyard country. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. The room was as advertised - nothing fancy, but a unique rustic place in a beautiful remote location. How often do you get to stay in a place built in 1820?

Odpowiedź od Jim And Janet:
What Alan thought you could improve about the experience: The bed was quite noisy - woke us up each time someone turned over - and the quilt was rather dirty. ***Sorry about the bed being noisy. In all of the years we have rented this space no one has ever had a complaint about the bed. But it is just a full size bed not a queen or king size like our other rooms. ***The quilt is fully washed between all guests as required by local health code. We are inspected every three months or so and have always scored 98, 99 or 100 on our health department inspections which are public for all to see. The water in the shower would flip between cold and hot and not hold a steady temp. Otherwise it was comfortable. ***To keep our environmental rating with the Green Spaces program we are required to use European style tankless water heaters. Though they are extremely energy friendly they do not supply the constant hot water that Americans are used to getting from the energy inefficient heaters. -To all who are thinking about renting this space. Keep in mind that we get $29 to $39 per night and it is purely a hostel type space. You may be paying more because of fees that go to Airbnb but we see this as Very Basic Space for Appalachian Trail Hikers and Bikers, not as part of the Bed and Breakfast.

I had a great experience staying with Jim and Janet. I met Janet briefly when I arrived and the room was just what I needed. I was in class the majority of the day so only spent time at the house in the evenings but it was beautiful and very convenient. Thank you both for the stay!

The room was exactly as described with a beautiful view. Jim was an excellent host and was very friendly. He greeted us when we arrived, showed us to the room, and gave us the background of this historic landmark inn. The inn is located next to a great winery (Pippin Hill) with a beautiful tasting room. Just across the road is a fantastic pizza shop (Dr. Ho's Humble PIe) with local craft brews. There are plenty of other local options for wineries, breweries, and cideries too! We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

Jim was very warm and nice. He showed me the room and the house and told me a bit of history behind this heritage building. Afterwards he has taken due care of things as well. I had an issue with the room I stayed for the first two nights so he changed me to a different room upon hearing the problem and I appreciate that. Coffee was available in the morning. The location is quite scenic and about 10-15 minutes drive from C'ville. Rooms were comfortable with good internet connection.

Wonderful stay. Jim and Janet were terrific hosts. The area is gorgeous. All in all it was just great.

Wonderful place! We got to the Inn later than anticipated after traffic and Jim was still waiting up to show us to our room and make sure we had everything we needed. We only saw Janet at breakfast both days, but they were great hosts, very sociable and knowledgeable about the Inn, local history, and seemingly everything else. Great conversation at breakfast both days. We stayed in the Sarah Gillocke room which was perfectly comfortable and nicely put together - historic but very nice and with all modern amenities. Breakfast was at 8:30 and coffee provided around 6:30 for early risers (not us!). Breakfast was great and more than enough food. We actually got snowed in this weekend and since everything was closed nearby Jim offered to drive us to find food. They spent a ton of time shoveling to make sure people could get in an out of the driveway, and we enjoyed playing with their puppy, Max. Will definitely be back to take advantage of the wineries when it gets warmer! This was my first AirBNB experience and it couldn't have been better.

Jim retired from Bed Bath and Beyond's Information Technology Department after 20 years to become an Airbnb Maven, hopefully. Janet was a chemist for BASF for many years and now runs the Inn. We both work and volunteer in our local schools and are huge supporters of the Destina…
