Right on the river with hammock and fire circle nearby. Our 2 bedroom/2 bath log cabin has an outdoor grill, 2 person hot tub, and wonderful decks to sit on and watch the river. Semi-secluded. Hiking, the Virginia Creeper Trail, the famous Shatley Springs Restaurant, canoe rental places and more nearby. Plus W. Jefferson with fun shops and art galleries.
We call our much-loved cabin Hollyhock. It is right on the river. The beds are queen size. You provide linens (to keep down the cost) unless you arrange to rent some for a small fee. The woodstove works with pressed wax logs. The kitchen is well equipped and has a collection of cook books. There are lots of other books, too. Comfortable deck chairs call for river watching. The river is usually shallow and wonderful for tubing and wading. A fire circle is near the riverbank. Usually there are enough fallen branches for a little fire. Canoes and kayaks can be rented from several local places. There is peace and quiet. The cabin is available only from mid-April through mid-October. Sorry, we cannot accommodate pets (allergies). No smoking, please, anywhere for the same reason. We do not have AC (it is usually nice and cool down at the river) or a dishwasher.
There is a 2-person hot tub. Children are not allowed to use it. We make every effort to keep it serviceable but cannot guarantee that it will be. Servicing is very expensive and far away. We usually do not provide linens but arrangements can be made for an extra charge.

The cabin is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The main town, West Jefferson, is a mecca of art galleries and other interesting shops. We now have weekend internet. It is available only from Friday noon through Monday noon. Other wi-fi sources in town are the public library and several coffee shops. Old-time and country music events are sometimes scheduled in West Jefferson and at the Phipps Country Store on Friday nights which is very close to the cabin. There is heat (of course!) but no AC. Also, no dishwasher.
Occupancy is strictly limited to 4 guests. No smoking or pets. This is a much-loved cabin with some family heirlooms so we expect guests to treat it as they would their own home- with love and care.
We usually do not provide linens but can on request for $18-25 depending on the number of guests. More details about the cabin and area are provided after a reservation is accepted.
We will not be around, so will have no interaction while you are there.
I am a public health researcher and nature lover to sum things up for a one liner.
