We trust people, which is why we let them in our house in the first place, otherwise we would not do Airbnb. On the other hand, you did not really trusted us because you did not want to pay the deposit for the keys (and we agreed, even though we explained you that other guest had lost our keys and we had to pay for the copy - and that is the main reason why we ask for a deposit that is returned at the end of every stay).
With regard to be more polite, I think that is something you should also reconsider as it is not very normal to start talking on the phone at 7am in a very loud voice and with the door of the room opened, as if you were alone. And we did not want to say you anything precisely so as not to be unpolite.
However, you considered that asking you for the keys the night before your early check out the next morning was unpolite despite us not charging you the deposit because you just refused to pay. The main reason why we asked for the keys was to avoid that you could take them with you by mistake.
We also let a friend of yours here twice (without being previously informed) so I think we were not so bad.
Anyway we really hope that you had a good time in Barcelona!
