Located on level 2, closest to the staircase and the reception area. Enjoy the same views and comfort as our other 3 rooms the same floor
I had a great stay in Mama Guesthouse. I booked my first 2 nights here in Mandalay. At the end of my trip when I came back to Mandalay, I stayed at Mama Guesthouse again. Although its a guesthouse it feels like home to me. Su, her husb, mom Alice and all the staff are very nice people, made me feel like part of the family :)
This place is superb. Su and her family are really nice and super helpful. The room was much nicer than pictured! It's very spacious and AC works well. Breakfast was great- I asked for Mohinga one morning. Location is very walkable to the palace and nearby pagodas if one can bear the hot weather. :) Highly recommended.
Ma Ma Guesthouse was such a pleasant stay. From the moment we pulled up, we were greeted by name and the staff was beyond friendly. The place looks bigger than the pictures and the location was close to temples and Mandalay Hill by taxi. We had a very authentic feel of Mandalay by staying here. But my favorite part was how hospitable the whole staff was. Genuinely sincere and honest sweet people. Wish we stayed here for more than one night. Thank you Su and family for making us feel so welcome. :)
The exchanges with Su prior to the visit gave an impression of an energetic and helpful host , this was truly confirmed during the stay, with arrangements of a better room when available, the suggestions on things to see and places to eat. Sited at a quiet neighbourhood in the city, the guest house has a great 4th floor roof top, where for breakfast, one had lovely views of lithe pagodas peaking out of greenery in the distance, and at night, a stunningly lit dome punctuating the dark Mandalay skyline, particularly when accompanied by the absolutely delicious burmese dinner that is on offer, with the mouth watering aubergine dish from Su's grandmother's recipes. I enjoyed a lovely conversation on Myanmar history with Su's mother - a delightful lady who was previously a University history lecturer, and Su's husband who was always on hand to help, together with what seemed like an army of young staff supporting the 10 room guesthouse. The bedroom looks comfortable enough and adequate in this picture and it was, but not shown is the separated shower from the rest of the bathroom, meaning that the floor is dry when one has use the other facilities after a shower, not a common feature in other home stays in Myanmar where an unpartitioned shower cubicle means the ickiness a totally wet bathroom. Another nice feature is ability to sit outside the room in a balcony, watching the birds and squirrels jumping about on the matured trees surrounding the property.

I am learning the ropes of being a hotelier from my world renowned mother, Alice the owner of Peacock Lodge. Hope you have a pleasant stay with us. P.S. I am trying to learn the piano! If you happen to know how to teach me, I'll be a patient student.
