Thanks for taking the time to review your stay at Villa Coppa, your comments are helpful and will help us fine tune a few things. The most important of these is the "ungracious" welcome - which may have stemmed from a little jet lag and a we having had a "hectic" day here. The norm is a warm welcome and to leave you to enjoy your time here...
It would have been much easier for you to have contacted us via text or email at the time - regarding some of these issues so that they could have been quickly resolved: * Towels are received from our laundry and, are not always "opened fully" so our apologies for this. * Plates etc are placed through the dishwasher before new guests arrive, again disappointing to me that you found some plates not satisfactory. * There is a Drip/Filter Coffee maker in the kitchen plus, the more Italian traditional 'stove top" peculator in the cupboard where the plates are stored. * Bulbs / Lamps, these are checked and, there are spare lamps provided in the cabinet where the wine glasses are kept. All of these things are small, but I fully appreciate they can have a negative impact to an otherwise enjoyable experience.
Energy is expensive in Italy and (very often villas here ) do not include heating in the rental rate. This is made clear in the Airbnb listing. The house will heat very well once the furnace/boiler is switched on and the windows doors are closed. I did ask at the outset if heating was required, mentioning too that firewood was available (without charge) . Besides the large pile in the garden there was and is a small stock just outside the door of the sitting room. Going through the house at the outset, I do recall not wanting to spend too much time as I felt that you were all tired and wanted just to put your bags down and relax - and the wood store outside may well have been missed, so our apologies for this.
We do try hard to make guests here comfortable. We extend a "concierge" service and, offer a little advice on things to do. I mentioned to you the idea of a food and wine paring activity along with a car and driver facility. Once you agreed this and, sent me a text, I arranged a special day out for you and it is good to know that you enjoyed this.
I think communication issues were a little to blame. You may recall that upon receiving your text message requesting heating and instructions for furnace/boiler; I wrote twice a note to illustrate how to switch it on. Not receiving reply, I traveled immediately to the villa to to offer you personal assistance - Only to find that you had left the house, had successfully switched on the gas, that the house was being heated - despite the window on the top floor being left open.
as a result of this, Gas consumption is now measured by accurate digital meter. and not on a daily basis which is fairer to everyone.
With thanks and best wishes for choosing to stay here and for your valuable feedback.
