Dimitri's place is great, spacious and clean, with good wifi and an enormous kitchen, though if you are going to cook keep in mind there is one hot plate/burner. There is a walk around balcony. The bed I had was a little firm, but for me that's great. You can see the sunset in the clouds swirling above the mountain through the large glass door of the room I was in.
The location is good, about two minutes from the tomb of Leonidas and some restaurants and a small grocery store. Though the rest of the town's main streets are just a few more minutes walk from there, so it's very easy to find a wealth of options and a large supermarket.
The reason you have to stay here is Dimitri's unsurpassable hospitality. He's basically an unpaid tour guide! I saw the best sights, Mystras and later Monemvasia, thanks to his suggestions. He also helped me get to and from Mystras and even made morning coffee. I can't thank him enough for his thoughtfulness, and I will definitely be back to stay again.
My advice: see the Spartan ruins, see the olive oil museum, then run to Mystras and spend two half days or one full day. So worth it. Name drop him to the nuns to get treated like family!
