WOW! I was blown away by my stay at Isura's lovely home. It was my first time to use Airbnb...I guess I was just not sure it would be fun staying in someone else's place. How wrong I was! I even extended my stay by two more days...just couldn't leave.
I'm very picky about comfortable beds, having had to sleep on a futon for two years and getting a back issue from it. Her bed is AMAZING. While I didn't undo the sheets to look at the mattress brand, it feels very American or Western, and by that I mean solid. It has enough give so you don't feel like you are sleeping on a board. It is so comfortable that I found myself writing off two of my five mornings there. Combined with the turbo-charged air conditioner and mood light remote control feature, I really was in 5-star luxury.
Power showers are my other quirk. Isura's was not just good, but FANTASTIC! The towels were nice and soft too. I had absolutely everything I needed by way of shampoo, etc. I forgot my eye makeup remover and she even had some of that too. We can use the washing machine that has a drying feature too.
I also had use of the main area which is huge and uncluttered. In fact, her entire home is very uncluttered so the energy can flow all around. It's bright and sunny. The open-plan kitchen area is so big that I could do yoga, well, kind of yoga - more like meditation on a mat. :o)
I didn't use the kitchen for cooking, just making tea. But we can use it, no problem. She has the biggest kitchen sink I've ever seen in a house - I could probably sit in it!
Isura's place is in a quiet neighborhood and really close to the train station so there is very easy access to wherever you want to go in Kobe. It's just ¥270 to Sannomiya and ¥220 to Okamoto. Plus "Spoons" cafe and bakery, directly in front of the station, serves an incredible avocado burger on a whole wheat (URL HIDDEN) waitress even put a cute note in English ("Thank you for coming!! I hope the dish makes you happy!") in with the knife and fork... and the owner literally shoved an entire package (¥800) of some of their tea (Marie Belle Chocolate & Rose) into my handbag when I was leaving. I was a little less impressed with the breakfast (hard boiled eggs with toast mainly) but they were open and had better than average options and good coffee.
I probably shouldn't write such a glowing review so Isura's place is available any time I want it! Heehee "I'll be back."
