Please note that since 2016 our guests have been welcomed and attended by Tatiana's family as she and Andrew moved back to the UK.
Hi I'm Andrew, the co-owner of Yellow River. Our family home is open to all visitors, my wife is Peruvian and her family has farmed these valleys for generations. We grow coffee, chocolate and a lot of fruit so the food is amazing and you'll not believe how green everything is. The price of your room here on airbnb includes a delicious home-cooked dinner and an equally delicious breakfast.
We have a few listings with different bed configurations, all of which share a bathroom. We're not your typical tourist hotel. We are on the way to Machu Picchu and more and more tourists are avoiding the crowds and the trains and doing it themselves. Get there in style, relax, experience the real Peru that the majority of people never get to see. I love this area because the pace of life is slower, the landscape is awe-inspiring and every day brings something new. I had never tried coffee before living in Peru and I ended up growing it!
From June 2016 it was my wife's sister Svetlana who received our guests for a while as we returned to the UK with our daughter. Since then, things have changed again and now it is Gueidar (my brother-in-law) and Olga and Angel (my parents-in-law) who meet our guests and who will help you to your room.
Emory, Tatiana's brother is also usually on hand to help out. We have always taken a lot of pride in giving time to our guests and talking with them about life in this pretty valley. It was with great sadness that we had to return to the UK. However, guests can still come and stay, experience the magic of this place and take a break from the crowds. Whilst we won't be there to enjoy it with you, our home is yours to enjoy, with Tatiana's parents offering excellent home-cooked meals and you're always welcome to go and see the farm at any time. We've become a more classic airbnb host and less hands-on, but we hope you still check us out and get to see what we have to offer.
The new backpacker rooms (4 and 5) are priced without meals, but the prices for the main rooms include dinner and breakfast.
Please note, whilst we are near Machu Picchu it is hard to do a day trip from us to the ruins. We recommend people stay with us before or after their visit to Machu Picchu to avoid an unnecessary rush or tiring day of travel and walking. It's best to spend the night in Aguas Calientes before your day at the ruins so you can get up early and be one of the first through the gates. We love airbnb and hope you find the time to visit the family here at Yellow River Quellomayo.
