Words do not do justice to this slice of paradise on the Sorrentine Peninsula. Casa Del Belvedere is on an old, narrow street in a hilly little commune outside Vico Equense. It’s the second floor of Domenico and Sara’s Home. It’s very roomy. We had 5 people, and there was plenty of private space, both inside and out. They arranged the beds to our request, as well, which made it ever easier on us.
There is an outside patio area, as well as another sitting area that overlooks the Bay of Naples, with Vesuvius imposing itself in the backdrop.
There is a garden that is accessible. We picked tomatoes, lemons, limes, kiwi, grapes, basil, and mint. They also gave us some eggs from the chickens that live here. We were able to make amazing breakfasts every morning based on the local garden fare and some bread and cheese from the small but efficient market in town.
Seiano is small. But it has a grocery store, a meat market, and a bar. Your needs will be met if you relax and don’t expect a Whole Foods. If you desire more variety of meats, cheeses, and bread, take the train (Circumvesuviana) to Vico Equense. It’s a 10 minute walk down the busy road, which is hilly and does require some energy, but it’s part of the charm. We took that train to Naples, Sorrento, and elsewhere. Very easy.
There is also an AMAZING restaurant up the hill. It was always quiet, but we enjoyed it so much that we went 3 times. The waiter was exceptional and friendly. Ask for the Caccio e Pepe. Best pasta dish I ever had.
I could go on forever on regional things to do. But the villa, the little town, and the larger city of Vico Equense alone could be sufficient for a relaxing time. You don’t “need” to go elsewhere.
Sara and Domenico are amazing people. And their home is incredible. They make you feel welcome, like old friends. They made my 4 year old feel special. And they made us feel like family.
We will be returning, specifically to their home. It was simply better than We could have ever hoped for. And it honestly made us rethink how we live, back here in the states.
Please. Stay here. You will not regret it.
