Miejsce
Open only for the rest of March, 2021. YOUR PRIVATE OASIS: You have a lovely, completely private upstairs two room guest suite with personal balcony and half bath - the entire upstairs! The downstairs spa/bath is a guest bathroom with tiled shower, deep soaking tub, electric fireplace and the whole house laundry. As a guest bath it may be used by visiting friends, other guests, etc. Guests at Whispering Winds have access to the open concept downstairs which includes a 60 inch smart TV, and limited use of the updated kitchen. The whole house WIFI is 300 mbps - fast! We also have a selection of hot and cold cereals and often fresh fruits available.
IT IS THE SETTING that makes Whispering Winds a truly memorable place to stay. The serene acreage, cottage gardens, food gardens where you can pick whatever is in season from asparagus to blueberries and raspberries, fish (catch and release only) a stocked trout stream, loll away the afternoon in a hammock, relax with a beer by the campfire, let the children play on the tire swing or around the "playground" tree.
Permaculture gardens with lots of flowers, areas to sit and relax, fire pit for evening enjoyment, and play areas for children grace this acre and a half yard. Dog park on premises for your 4 legged companions. Whispering Winds is adjacent to Spring Valley park which has a paved 4 mile bike/walking trail - 8 miles round trip. The property is surrounded on 3 sides by trees and bordered by a stocked trout stream. A Collie dog, cats and even free range ducks will greet you when you park your vehicle.
And you are safe in a picturesque small Minnesota town, akin to "Mayberry", appropriately named "Spring Valley - Hometown Minnesota".
Whispering Winds is an experience! Check out Minnesota Bound outdoor adventures TV show episode #903 - our fossil hunting is featured in the second segment!
The entire downstairs is handicap accessible. Parking is handicap friendly, low rise entrance, doorways are 36 inches, open concept living area, handicap rails for toilet, wheelchair accessible bathroom vanity, handicap shower with bench. The yard is 95% wheelchair accessible including the fishing and campfire ring area. The adjacent walking trail is paved and wheelchair friendly also.
NOTE: Perennial flowers are seasonal, my flowers peak in July and August which is the time a lot of the pictures are showing. We have FOUR distinct seasons in Minnesota and the property will look different in every season. This is a "live like a local" Airbnb NOT a for profit, staffed, Bed & Breakfast. Property condition subject to storms and floods.

PLEASE NOTE: Real B&Bs have muddied the Airbnb concept of staying at a private residence and "live like a local" by advertising on the site. Whispering Winds is true to the Airbnb concept of living with a local host at a private property. You can tell the difference by the rates usually. A Bed & Breakfast being run as a business is charging often $100 plus a night or more for a single room. If you are paying less for a night's stay you are generally at a private residence and you are a guest in my home. I am the cook, cleaning person, gardener, do the chores, mow the lawn and do the maintenance on this home - none of that is hired out. Basically you are staying with "Grandma" and getting tremendous value for your dollar. You are in a SAFE, HOME environment. I am supplementing my Social Security and paying for feed and vet bills. My animals are my pets and NOT props in a business scenario. If YOUR pet is not dog/cat/chicken/horse friendly, PLEASE do NOT book this residence. The pets who live here deserve to be safe in their space.

Dostęp dla gości
The private guest space upstairs is approximately 700 sf - two rooms separated by a door which could be two bedrooms - completely private 1/2 bath, and a private balcony. The stairs are 1912 Victorian cottage STEEP, STEEP. A private, newly refurbished spa/bathroom is available downstairs. Home share quarters include the open concept living room/kitchen with large screen smart TV, outside grilling area with relaxing pergola beside the koi/goldfish ponds. The 1-1/2 acre yard includes multiple seating areas, children's play areas, two gazebos, firepit (fire wood bundles are available onsite for a fee), gardens and stocked trout stream. Minnesota fishing license with trout stamp required to fish. Children fish free in Minnesota with a licensed fisherman.

Inne ważne rzeczy
DO NOT come here if you have any ALLERGIES! Cat and dog in the house, farm animals, so many plants and flowers - something is going to trigger your allergies!

NOTE: A guest(s) who has an animal who attacks any of my pets/animals/me or another guest, or refuses to follow the basic rules of picking up after your pet (any waste in the dog park is fine), or keeping your pet on a leash downstairs (unless cleared with me first) will be told to LEAVE IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT REFUND!!! We are one of the few pet friendly places around, but I just hit that one SELFISH, SADISTIC guest who intentionally allowed her dog to attempt to kill my old, declawed house cat. People like that are WHY there are fewer and fewer pet friendly places to stay when traveling!

NO PITBULLS OR PITBULL crosses even as service dogs! If it even looks like a pitbull when you get here, I will turn you away with NO REFUND. Insurance will NOT allow Pitbulls or crosses.

$10 cleaning fee is waived if you just bring down the bedding you used and your garbage. Most people choose to save the money. If you do not want to do that please leave $10 cash in your room when you leave. :-)

We also offer Whispering Winds: Woods Edge Camp. We are advocates of outdoor activities, so if you are a hunter, fisherman, snowmobiler, morel mushroom hunter, hiker, horseman, fossil hunter, nature photographer, gardener, bicyclist or biker, you are likely to feel right at home here.

Having trouble booking? Several Airbnb users have reported problems booking. Look at the map in the pics and contact me directly.

My yard has extensive Ordovician fossil gardens that I give tours of for $10 an hour person, children 7-11 $5 an hour, 6 and under FREE. I also guide custom fossil hunts for $10 an hour per person, $5 7-11, free 6 and under. I have a website - Bluff Country Fossils and a fossil adventure blog. :-) And I sell fossil hunting maps of the area for $5 apiece. One is in the Winona Amish Community and can start you out on a custom Amish tour. 25% off fossil tours/hunts for guests who stay here! :-D

Options range from child care - I'm a background checked ex-substitute teacher - and pet sitting, to fossil hunting, etc. are of course extra $. Please contact me to discuss costs they are listed in the house manual when you sign up to come. Please contact me ahead to be sure we are still offering something or if it is in season or if I have time for extra services.

Staying elsewhere but want to visit for the day? $10 per person from 8-5 pm or evenings.

The main pasture can accommodate extensive parking, RVs, horse camping trailers, and buses. Pretty much anything under 30' in length.

Spring Valley, Minnesota, Stany Zjednoczone

Whispering Winds has a serene, restorative, retreat-like atmosphere. Surrounded on three sides by woods, bordered by a trout stream, it has abundant wildlife including many song birds, wild turkeys, herons that grace the stream, we have a nesting pair of Bald Eagles nearby that occasionally soar overhead and whitetail deer that cross the yard.
In the city limits and adjacent to Spring Creek Park there is an 8 mile (RT) paved biking/walking trail. The city gazebo occasionally hosts outdoor concerts and the music can be heard here.
There are 4 parks within walking distance including a city water park. This is a very quiet, safe, neighborhood and small town.

Your Hostess I am Beverly, the Steward of this lovely homestead. Whispering Winds is what I call the healing zephyrs that emanate from this bit of Mother Nature. It is more than my home, it is my haven in this world as I grow old. My background is teaching, sustainable ag, and tourism. So, I can point you to unique experiences all over Bluff Country and the reason why my heart goes to ECOTOURISM. The animals here are my companions. Jessica, is a 16 year old collie dog, now deaf. Please enter the driveway slowly. Nearly all are special needs, and that is one reason why I share my little slice of heaven with you, is to take care of them. All the creatures here have stories and memories to make with you. Life is all about change and I am getting old. So, I am following my dream of creating an Intergenerational Ecovillage! What will that look like? We don't know! If you are interested in this concept, please let me know. The hope is that this year, Saturday nights on the farm will, hopefully, include informational talks in the afternoon, a hotdish meal around the communal campfire, and lots of discussion on how to make this happen! The hope is to develop a cooperative of like-minded people who desire to live in a self-sustaining community that focuses on the environmentally green principles of: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. I want to live vibrantly in a community setting that nurtures the individual, the community and the land. A self-governing (consensus decision making), self-sustaining (individuals must be income self-reliant and the community will provide income generating options as support income), and self-reliant community that provides the opportunity for individual residences within an idyllic permaculture rural setting – a part of your camping fee is going toward buying more land for the cooperative we have tentatively named “Winds of Change Ecovillage”. We can make it happen, if we work together! Our mission is to define, and educate others in, a sustainable way for humans to live, create and maintain a cooperative community, in a stewardship model that honors each other, the land, and the planet. Come journey with us... Ecotourism, Community Building, Environmental Consciousness

W trakcie pobytu
As a disabled grandmother who has had two strokes, I live here and I'm home most of the time.
I only check my computer once or twice a day for reservations. I do have extensive knowledge of the activities and opportunities that Bluff Country has to offer having worked at the visitor's bureau and done a visitor's blog. I have lots of visitor information here or just ask! :-) Base price is for one person and that will vary upon days and the season. We are essentially setup for a couple who sleep together and two children. There is a very comfortable queen bed and also very comfortable futon upstairs. Additional charge per person per night extra - children & babies (they generate lots of diapers!) are people too. So are each of the furbabies you plan to bring along, they are $5 per day each extra. You can pay this with through Airbnb if you wish by sending me money through that portal or pay cash when you arrive.
We are pet friendly and have a quarter acre private dog park and kennel - AKA the lower pasture which is a pony park when guest dogs are not here. Please clear each pet with me first - our Homeowner's Policy does not allow Pit Bulls or Pit Bull crosses on the property even as service dogs. Cats that are not declawed need to be kenneled when you are not playing with them. We do try to accommodate all kinds of pets including equine if you are traveling I-90 with your horses are going to Forestville State Park to enjoy the trail riding!
