Mill House is a converted victorian property offering self contained serviced rooms. The property underwent a comprehensive refurbishment in July 2016 and offers an excellent level of comfort, style and convenience. It is only 200 yards from the very centre of vibrant Newmarket and the high street where there is easy access to all the usual conveniences.

Unfortunately not a good experience for us on this occasion. Despite booking 6 months in advance our guest called us 2 weeks before their arrival date (3 days over Christmas) wishing to cancel the booking. On discovering that Air BnB’s policy would not allow free cancellation for obvious reasons, the guests set about doing all they could to discredit the property and the validity of their booking. We did our best to meet each and every demand made, including purchasing additional furniture for the guests but was all in vain. The guest kicked up such a fuss, AirBnB allowed them to cancel the booking on the day of arrival and then the guest used the door codes we had previously given them to stay in the property anyway. We are yet to receive a single penny for the booking and are left with a cleaning bill for the property following their stay. We feel very let down by this dishonest guest.

Hi Ben, Thank you for your constructive feedback. I do appreciate you r viewpoint re the checkin and pre arrival emails. We actually use a very sophisticated Property Management System which is designed for corporate hotel chains so this can seem overkill sometimes. There is also the added complication that we let rooms at the property individually so when we have guests that wish to book the house as a whole the system recognised this as 6 individual room bookings and as such sends out a welcome email for each room and required our terms to be signed for each room. We are working to simplify this for whole house bookings but we are constrained by our software to a large degree as it manages multiple properties. On the plus side, It does provide all the details imaginable in terms of the property, amenities, the locality and is interactive for your convenience. This allows guests to have all information on their stay at their fingertips on any mobile device, smartphone etc. I will look to get the Gideon Bible scanned and uploaded as a PDF on to this app for the convenience of future guests. House is lovely - we hired entire house for the weekend for my dads 70th birthday celebration. However, it was not ready for us when we checked in. One bedroom had not been made up from the last people who stayed and communal areas had not been cleaned. Oliver was not answering…
