A stylish, bright and spaceous flat of the 1950's, close to Acropolis and Plaka, has been fully refurbished with respect to its initial elements and a bit of a modern twist.
Located on the 2nd floor of a fully-owned two-storey building, it has a great view to Piraeus and Filopappou hill from its balcony and private roof terrace.

The appartment is located on the 2nd floor of a fully-owned two-storey building.
My husband and I have put a lot of energy and love into rennovating this old building, dating back to 1930's, making the apartment in the 2nd floor comfortably livable under contemporary standars, respecting its innitial retro elements and, in the end, giving it a modern, artistic twist.
The appartment listed is bright and spaceous, with great view from the balcony and the terrace at the top of the building, which is for exclusive use of the guests.
It is fully equipped and comfortable for guests wanting to stay short or longer term.
It can comfortably accomodate 4 people, in two different bedrooms with two double beds. When needed, a side bed (190 cm long and 80cm wide) can be added in the second bedroom, for e.g. for families with children with different gendre.

Greece has received international praise for the way it has handled the Coronavirus pandemic. Greek Government implemented safety measures early in time and Greeks followed all the rules, thus, we have so far managed to significantly limit the virus spread in the community and are confident we will continue to do so going forward.
At Tales in Tiles we have always taken cleanliness and hygiene very seriously. However, in these strange Covid-19 times, we are taking extra measures to protect our guests as much as possible.
- As a first step, we have decided to leave a gap of at least 24-hours between reservations. We do not accept new guests on the same day that a guest has checked out.
- You can use our self-check in option – easy to use - if you wish so. Just let us know. We usually meet our guests outside the building, taking all precautions necessary – wearing masks, disinfecting our hands, not touching anything, not even the keys.
- Here we also need to highlight that our apartment is located on a two-story only building, offering extra protection. There is only one more apartment on the first floor of the building, and the only common area is the entrance hall of the building on the ground floor and the wooden staircase. Apart from thorough cleaning of these common areas, we also leave the two windows – above the main building door and at the top of the staircase – always open, so that the common area is aired out properly. We urge you to wear masks, when in the common area, and always disinfect your hands when entering the apartment and exiting the building.
- We follow closely National Tourism's specific guidlines for cleaning. We have been awarding the "First Health" certication for doing that. We have, thus, upgraded our cleaning procedure to disinfection, using properly diluted bleach solutions and following all advice on how to use them.
- We disinfect: all floors, walls, doors and all possible surfaces, including door knobs and window handles, hangers, switches, lamp chains, garbage and recycling bins, remote controls, hair-dryer, shampoo, conditioner and body wash bottles, iron and iron board, keys, kitchen appliances – all kitchen equipment is washed in the washing machine. We additionally, disinfect all books and toys and any children equipment, such as baby cot and baby chairs.
- We wash all bed sheets and towels at 60 degrees. We change all bed and pillow covers every time a guest leaves.
- Although nice to have, we have removed all bed runners and cushions, as well as all rugs in the apartment.
- We have also removed laundry baskets – you can hang towels on the hangers.
- We steam clean the couch and curtains every time a guest leaves.
- Our cleaning staff cleans based on the specific guidlines and is monitored by myself!

Environmental Conscious
We are trying, every day, to be as environmental conscious as possible. We know you are too, after all, you taught us so many things. Find below a list of what we do for the environment and we invite you to come along:
- You will find recycling bins in the apartment. Please have a look at our guide for details on how to dispose both normal garbage and recycling materials.
- We got rid of plastic straws and replaced them with paper ones.
- We also use bamboo cotton swabs, instead of plastic ones.
- We have stopped advertising that our washing machine can also be used as a dryer. We urge you to hang your clothes under the Athenian sun, shining for most of the year. So much quicker for the clothes to dry, healthier for you and, most of all, so good for the environment.
- We do not use small, one-time use, bottles for our Korres shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Instead, we have been in contact with the company and they provide us with refilling bottles.
- We invite you to turn off heating and air conditioning, while you are out of the apartment.
- Last but not least, we encourage you to walk (most of the places one needs to do and see are within walking distance), while we also provide you with one-way tickets for the trolley (bus with cables), tram, metro and bus.
We welcome any more environmental conscious proposals for the use of our apartments.

What to expect
We are proud of our apartments and you, our guests of Tales in Tiles, have all these years been showing so much gratitude for what we offer. We have improved and continue to do so, based on our great love for the Greek and Athenian culture and our longlines to share it with you. We keep also improving based on your feedback, which we always welcome.
There is a few of things for which there is not much we can do about:
1. Church bell. A few guests have mentioned to us that the bell from the church in the neighborhood woke them up in the morning. Based on an old tradition of inviting people to the church’s morning ceremony, the church bell rings once at 7:15 am. If there is a ceremony, usually on Saturday and Sunday, or when a Saint is celebrated, it could be that it would ring again at 8:15 am and then at 9:15 am. I would invite people to indulge themselves in the tradition and perhaps even go for a short visit inside the church, with the beautiful temple and chants when there is a ceremony. I will never forget the mystery effect it had on me the waking up of the Muezzin’s prayer in Instabul, during my first visit there.
Still, I urge light sleepers to use the back bedrooms, instead of the front one, if they are here for resting and don’t want to wake up early in the morning from the church bell.
2. Ants. Based on legal requirements, we disinfect the whole building, twice a year. Two of our guests mentioned in their reviews that they found a few small ants in the kitchen sink. Although they rarely saw up, when they do these small ants are part of nature and we wouldn’t want to further interfere. Please bear with them if you see them. I am sure you also see them in your house every now and then. But please do let us know if you see too many of them.

But there is so many other things - apart from the essentials, such as cleanliness, heating, air conditioning, extra towels and bed sheets – we generously offer you and you keep returning it back:

3. Breakfast. We do not, as of yet, offer full breakfast, but do expect to find a kitchen stuffed, among others, with all kinds of coffee, herbal teas from the organic herbal experiences team of, our homemade marmalade!, a loaf of fresh bread from our local bakery, organic olive oil from fruits and flowers from the “Laiki” – flea market – nearby.

4. Meet Our Greek coffee and sugar ceramic pots are made by my beloved Elli, from my home town Kavala, who came up with Marika, “an abstract figure, impregnated with Greek tradition, wore a Greek dress, put on Greek flavors, until her soul awakened and brought about the essence of Greece”, as Elli describes her in her site. Marika represents our grandmas who came to Kavala – and other places, mainly in the North - as refugees from MicrAsia in 1922, mingled with the locals and together created a culture of food (think of a Sunday table full of mezze and syrup sweets) and essences that soon spread all over Greece.
5. Our How to make Greek Coffee guide is made by my beloved Rosina, who leaves nearby and is ready to help you with anything you may need.
6. shampoo and body wash.
7. Art. Although lousy at painting and photography myself, I am a paintings and photography art lover, something you will realize the moment you walk in the building. You will see copies of many Greek painters in the entrance hall of the building, my favorite one being Yannis Μoralis (
8. Guide. Carefully put together, our guide for how to move around the apartment, our cozy neighborhood and Athens, is a snapshot of what I would personally love to do, If I were a Tales in Tiles 1 guest in Athens.
9. Books. I found them in English, French and German and brought them to you. Some of my favorite books, like The Great Chimera by M. Karagatsis. A true piece of art.

This is a flavor of what you should expect to find in our apartment; my very personal narrative of life in Greece and specifically in Athens. But I am sure, by the time you go, the Tiles will wisher you, new, unheard Tales for Athens. Your own. Just let them to!

Dostęp dla gości
We would normally allow guests to check-in early or check out late, whenever possible. During these strange COVID-19 times, we urge you to respect check-in and check out times, so that we have the proper time for cleaning and disinfection and protect you all. Having said that, there is a safe area in the main entrance hall of the building, where you can store yourluggage, and return to take them as you wish.

Inne ważne rzeczy
Due to COVID -19, we have changed the way we welcome our guests. We will now meet you - either myself or Rosina - outside the building wearing masks and guide you how to enter the apartment. You will find the keys inside the apartment.
If you prefer, you can use our self-check in option. Just let us know.
