Old-fashioned, comfortable, and spacious flat on two floors with two bedrooms, and a lot of character, in Georgian house in Dumfries town centre. Self-catering. Not everyone’s cup of tea (there are no fitted carpets, or plastic windows - there are bare floorboards with rugs, a rather 'worn' decor, and original 200-year-old sash windows and working shutters).
2 beds (one small room with 4’ bed (OK for 2 - just); one large attic room with kingsize bed), bright south-facing kitchen/dining room (with fitted kitchen, integrated oven and hob, integrated dishwasher), large living room with two large sofas (could be used for two extra occasional guests), store cup’d & laundry cup’d to landing, containing washing machine & condensing drier, bathroom (bath, with hand-held shower), wc. Gas combi boiler provides hot water & central heating.
Shared entrance lobby, but with own entrance to flat at ground floor level, and own staircase leading to flat.
NB: Flat is on 2nd and 3rd (attic) floors - so there are a lot of stairs. Free wireless broadband connection. No landline in flat.
The flat is well placed, very near the High Street in the historic town centre, for all transport links, shops, cafes, museums, archive centre, and other amenities.
There are also good walks, and fishing, along the river (Nith) from the town.
A good base for exploring the beautiful Dumfries and Galloway region.
Explore the Solway coast; Caerlaverock (Castle and wetlands - a bird-watcher's paradise); great hill-country and forest areas for walking and cycling; Drumlanrig Castle; and there are many studios of talented artists and craftspeople in the area, open for Spring Fling, and also during much of the rest of the year.
Kitchen is stocked with cereal, fresh milk, sugar, tea and coffee. I am happy to shop and stock the kitchen with any other groceries for you prior to your arrival, on request, at cost.
