Hemlock Cottage's located a minute walk to beautiful Lake Michigan with gorgeous golden sandy beaches and clear refreshing lake water. This vintage cottage is the perfect getaway from it all! Very close to the Arcadia Dune's. *In the early Spring of 2017 we will be doing some cottage renovations

Note: This is a very rustic, this place is older (like maybe from the 40's with pealing paint old.) Pros: Jessica was really nice and responded well. This house is a great location, near the beach and near the event venue we were headed to. Just a 15 min walk to Portage Point Inn. Its large with 5 bedrooms and plenty of room to hang out in. The wifi is super fast and have a million channels on the TV. Cons: -We were told only two days before we were to arrive that we had to bring our own sheet (we didn't think about it but this also means pillow cases). So we ended up having to opt for sleeping bags for the twin beds since we do not own twin bed sheets. - Not enough pillows for the beds -My friend put on his own sheets and pulled the old comforter over himself and was met with an entire sand dune from the lake in his bed. -There were a few light bulbs out -The mirror in the upstairs bathrooms is half gone -There was old soap in the shower from previous tenets which had hair on it (gross) as well as on the shower wall. -The dish soap in the kitchen has been watered down WAY too much and was liquid as well as the only rag/sponge there was way too old and smelled. We ended up using paper towel instead. -You can tell its not professionally cleaned. I didn't take my shoes off all weekend in the house due to the lack of clean floors and carpets. Overall: a good amount of space and location. If you are a family maybe this is better for you no need to worry about messing anything up. As a group of friends I would have rather stay somewhere else. I don't believe this was worth the $737 for a weekend after cleaning fees and taxes.

Great place. Old house with a lot of character. Really close to Lake Michigan.

This home was less than ideal. We were trying to use the home as a place for my bridesmaids to stay and get ready for my wedding. When we asked the host if this was feasible in the home, she said it would work well. That was completely innacuate. The home is extremely old, which is normal in northern Michigan; however it was not kept up. The bathrooms were small and only had half mirrors or mirrors i had to stand on a chair to see into. The home was dirty, their were dust piles everywhere. Almost ever single window was broken allowing large amounts of bugs in the home. Every single kitchen chair was broken, the dishes were dirty, multiple comforters were stained and one appeared to have blood on it. It was so distasteful we didn't even stay the full time. I would never stay here again, it gives Onekama a bad name too. Spend your money elsewhere to enjoy your week up north.

This cottage is old, and needs work. The bathrooms and kitchen are dirty. The plumbing is not reliable. The toilets barely flushed and handles were falling off. Be aware that it is on a steep hill with no views of the lake. There is easy beach access once you climb down the narrow 4 flights of stairs. Plenty of bedding available for a large group but unfortunately we didn't have hot water in one of the two bathrooms making it very difficult to accommodate our large group. Also, the kitchen was not stocked with a large pot to boil water for cooking.

The house location is what is most appealing. I have enjoyed that my family was together and we had a shelter during rain. The trees around are old and the atmosphere is of deep forest. The dwelling is very old, smelly, dirty, but not unsafe. There is working stove and fridge. There are no locks anywhere including the bathroom and the house!!! The only vintage is age and old cute locks on the windows and the door handles that fall off when you pull them which is an awesome fun in the middle of the night! i was fine while my MIL was a bit shocked.
