The first floor has two tea rooms once used as a retreat, while upstairs offers a tatami room with alcove and adjoining space. Designated by Kyoto City as a Historic Scenic Landscape Building, it reflects craftsmanship, commerce, and hospitality. Beyond a narrow alley lies a quiet garden and tea room. Renovated, it blends tradition and modern comfort for a unique stay.

My place has been a century-old traditional inn and recently renovated into a spacious Kyo-Machiya style inn named "KINKAKU-RO", where you can feel both traditional and modern sense, officially licensed by the local government. It is located at a quiet residential area in the north part of Kyoto within a walking distance from the famous tourist attractions such as Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) and Kitano Temmangu. Five free rental bicycles allow you to have an easy access to other nice spots.

I am Katsuya.Thank you for looking at my traditional Kyoto machiya style house. Year by year, these kinds of traditional houses are decreasing even in Kyoto.That is why I decided to renovate this Japanese traditional house as guest house as I hope to preserve. Machiya( town house) has several types according to its use. My Machiya was built for weavers, both as residence and as atelier.
