Co będziecie robić

At your own pace we'll cover 8KM within almost 2 hours with no rush in order to enjoy the Southern Maltese coastline admiring the Ħaġar Qim Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Prepare yourself for a guided tour that will offer a full immersion of nature, amazing views and history.

This side of the island is a getaway from the busy city life so it is not to be missed if you are looking to experience the peaceful Southern Maltese sea side. Leaving all the stress behind, we'll go for a run at a comfortable pace, where you'll be able to appreciate the scenery and absorb the historical info I will be divulging along the way.

The run along the coastline is mostly a flat, paved promenade. From there we'll move on to the countryside paths which includes the hilly part of the route. However, we will be running at your preferred pace so you'll be able to take a sip of water, have a chat and take some photos of the stunning spots.

Highlights of the running tour:
- Starting from the village of Żurrieq;
- Passing by the Xarolla mill built during the time of the Knights of Malta;
- Running along the Blue Grotto promenade;
- Admire the little isle Filfla on the horizon;
- Passing by Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra temples;
- Visiting less touristic spots, mostly known to locals:
- Outskirts of Mqabba village;
- St. Matthew Chapel;
- Ħal Millieri;
- Chapel of the Annunciation

I am an experienced, local runner who's passionate about the history of the island and the Maltese landscape.
I took up long distance running roughly five years ago, and in this stretch of time I have explored many remote corners of the island, which are easily missed when one drives around.
My passion for running and culture has taken me to different European cities, having completed races in Athens, Rome, Manchester, Leeds, Iceland and Bratislava. In total I've completed more than ten half marathons. Having covered quite an amount of literature on the history of Malta, and having visited the majority of the historical sites that this gem has to offer, I can confidently say that I'm well prepared to give guests expert insight into the background of Malta and its people, and where they're coming from, in both English and Italian.

Gdzie będziecie

The tour will take us to Ħaġar Qim, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the prehistoric temple located in the South-West of Malta. The views going to the temple are breathtaking, and due to the elevation of this site, the cool sea breeze is almost a guarantee. The less known sites of the Xarolla mill, Ħal Millieri, the Chapel of the Annunciation in tal-Maqluba, Mqabba are just as special in that they're in remote areas, that aren't accessible by car.

It was a pretty nice run in the south of Malta. Umberto is a well trained guy but totally takes care of your needs and tempo during the run! It was also a pleasure to talk with him about Malta and other topics of life. Well recommended!!!

Umberto’s running tour was a great way to see the less touristic side of Malta. I got to experience historic churches and nature that Malta has to offer. As I’m training for a few races myself, Umberto also gave some great tips on running and preparing for marathons which was great. The pace of the run is really dependent on what you want - it can be as fast or as slow as you’d like. The run never gets boring as the sights he planned for us to see were scattered closely between one another so there was always something new to learn about every kilometer or so. You also get to see sights that are not widely advertised on other tourist platforms and wouldn’t have found out about otherwise. Highly recommended for those who want to see Malta in a different way, get some training in/stay active regardless of your fitness level and get to meet a really kind, sincere and friendly local! I really enjoyed it!

Umberto was an excellent guide, and showed us around areas of Malta’s south coast, including the stunning Blue Grotto and Hagar Qim. We were able to take our run at a comfortable pace, and Umberto had lots of interesting information to share about the area, including taking us off the beaten track. I would definitely recommend running with Umberto for anyone who is interested in doing something slightly more active on holiday, and covering some more ground whilst sightseeing.

This was an excellent running tour and we would highly recommend to everyone! We contacted Umberto before deciding to book and he was very happy to answer any questions. He also lets you decide what time you would like to start the tour and is also happy to let you choose the pace. You can go fast if you want, but we did an easy conversational pace with lots of great chat. The route was excellent, Umberto told lots of interesting facts and adjusted the sights to see what we were interested in. He is very friendly and we really enjoyed the tour. This was a fantastic way to get to know a lovely area of Malta. Umberto also kindly carried cold water for us and he recommended a wonderful nearby swimming spot where we then cooled off in the sea. Perfect day!
