Co będziecie robić
This tour is a 101 Kabuki class at a coffee shop near the theatre. Attending the tour and one-act of a performance is the perfect compact Kabuki experience! Shows tend to be around 4 hours long but buying just a one-act ticket is great for those with a busy schedule. A Kabuki show usually consists of a variety show featuring a selection of acts from different plays, each act intended to be seen as a standalone performance. So even with a one-act ticket, you will not be missing out on story! You will get all the information you need to enjoy Kabuki, including English handouts, information on the history, actors, play summaries, where to sit etc. Please note: as all one-act tickets are day tickets, the ticket price (500 ~ 2,000 yen) is not included in the talk price. Ticket sales for the first act (11am) begin at 10:30am; sales times for the following acts varies month by month. Queuing for 1 hour is recommended (benches are available). The 8:30am talk is a great fit for the first act at 11am. If you would prefer the 1am, 1pm or 4:30pm talk slots, please let me know so I can advise you as to the best act for your schedule.
Hi, my name is Kazui. I am a Japanese licensed tour guide and volunteer Japanese language teacher. I love all stage arts, have particularly enjoyed Kabuki since the age of 5 and have been providing Kabuki tours since 2010. Kabuki is registered as intangible cultural heritage and rarely performed outside Tokyo. Staring only male actors, it has over 400 years of history. I believe that with the help of some essential information about the art itself and the plays in performance, Kabuki becomes even more understandable and enjoyable. My “About Kabuki” talk and visual presentation will give you a great overview and additional insight you will be unable to get from the subtitle devices, allowing you to much better understand and enjoy the performances. Please allow me to help you get the very best out of Kabuki!
