Co będziecie robić

In this tour (tips taken at the end) guests hear about the stories of Edinburgh. These are stories you're less likely to hear about on other experiences throughout Edinburgh.

We start by discovering about where Mary of Guise, mother of Mary, Queen of Scots stayed and had her own private palace only a stones throw from Edinburgh Castle on The Royal Mile.

Afterwards we hear about the story of how Scotland tried to become a world power in the late 17th century by taking control of part of central America.

This is before we find out about the dark story of Edinburgh's last public execution and the tale of Jamaica's first recorded serial killer. A man known as the Mad Doctor of Edinburgh Castle.

Following on from this we hear about Bishops Close. The home of modern Judaism in Edinburgh and finish up hearing where a man called Deacon Brodie ended his career in crime.

Guests are very welcome to ask questions about the Royal Mile where the experience takes place and anything else on Edinburgh and Scotland. I'll be happy to point out anything else I think you may be interested in.

When I researched and wrote this tour I tried my best to give guests access to stories and sites which are hard to find on their own and the experience involves going down alleys or Scottish Closes and hearing stories hardly told before.
Other things to note
The Royal Mile has cobbles and is on a hill. I would very much advise flat footwear. The tour also involves going down very narrow alleys and are perhaps not always practical for wheelchairs.

This was one of the most personal experiences we had at AirBnB. Thanks, Brian, for taking the time to tour with just the two of us and share stories with us which were even for regular visitors to Edinburgh like us new.

Brian was a wonderful host with such a profound knowledge on the history of the old town. Having initially never been on a personal guided tour me and my partner were beyond pleasantly surprised from the warm welcome and friendly personal tour which Brian provided for us. Teaching us about the history to the cocktail bars and restaurants Brian really excelled our expectations and anyone would be privileged to receive a guided tour from Brian. In addition to this such a well organised contentious tour regarding covid-19, such a brilliant tour with such a great value for money. Thanks again Brian, I really would recommend!

Brian was absolutely perfect and a splendid host. His insight really helped to paint a picture of Edinburgh in a way I had never pictured it before. He was patient and kind and engaged throughout. For the price we paid, the tour was absolutely brilliant and I don’t think we will find better elsewhere. Brian - thank you so much for a brilliant tour.

Brian was an excellent communicator beforehand and helped with our questions for our arrival to Edinburgh. He was on time as were we. He was very friendly and polite. His factual tour of Edinburgh was insightful and he shared information which we wouldn’t have known through going it alone. We had the beauty of a personal tour with Brian, he was very helpful in recommendations for our brief stay. I would suggest to ask Brian as many questions as possible to reap the full benefit of his knowledge. Thank you so much Kayleigh & Patrick
