We will be using inks with a brush and various warm-up techniques in pen and charcoal which I have adopted over time in order to understand art as an expressive avenue anyone can adopt.
Exploring botanical drawing, I offer guests the opportunity to have the tools to take up drawing as a passion or past time and teach the techniques which have helped me establish myself as a successful artist.
I will guide the participants through the first a series of warm up techniques to loosen the mind and understand making marks and strokes. From there we will experiment with ink and brush exploring forms and understanding the way ink moves as well as the shapes and detail of the our subjects. The last section of the workshop moves to using a pen to explore line drawings, learning to hone the skills we have developed over the course of the class and concluding with much more detailed drawings.
Each stage includes a short demonstration and guidance throughout, as required individually, as well as to the entire group but allows each participant enough time to explore the various mediums.
