Co będziecie robić

Join me for a one of a kind storytelling, folk art and historic tour of The Folk Art Museum and Honky Tonk, which is quite unique and tells a story of a great love for all things South Louisiana.

20 minutes North of Lafayette, we live on 5 acres in an old world, turn of the 19th century historic agricultural and architecturally significant house called Stonewood, built by one of two Daly brothers, both doctors, who founded the first hospital in St. Landry Parish in 1919. My wife and I moved here in 2006, but we have photos of Stonewood from the 1930's and 40's.

I will first perform, telling a story, using a handmade, old time storytelling machine called a Cranky. Then we'll tour & see the large collection of folk & found art in The Folk Art Museum and Honky Tonk, which is an old Texaco freight depot & warehouse, AKA, The Whirlybird, described in an article in Southern Living Magazine.

Along the way we can talk about dynamic South Louisiana - Cajuns, Creoles, zydeco, gumbo, boudin, music, dancing, swamps and bayous, folk art, found art & SWLA fun.

Our motto: "We weren't born here, but we got here as fast as we could."
Other things to note
There are steps to climb on this tour. Sorry, but if you are in a wheelchair or cannot climb steps we will not be an appropriate choice.

Y'all, I am at heart a folk artist & a storyteller - & yes, an educator. I've spent my adult life creating educational, folk art environments as well as learning experiences for children & adults. I still teach music to talented young kids, but I've slowed down my work with kids.

I now have 4 large (3 repurposed) buildings full of folk & found art & years & years of stories for the interest & amusement of the inquisitive. I love history & culture. President of the Attakapas Historical Asso., editor, lecturer & tour guide for 40+ years. Early 2019, I hosted 31 cultural tourists from BC. I am inviting guests to visit me in my unique historic home for an intimate guided tour of my large folk art collection - I'll tell stories, perform with a handmade "cranky" & share anecdotes for a life centered around the pursuit of fun.

Off the beaten path and well worth it. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Christy, but my time with Jim was fabulous. This tour is very unique--you'll feel like you're a part of a secret Honky Tonk club.
