  • Absolutely amazing house with an incredible and generous host. Lance was welcoming and warm. The house was comfortable and so interesting. Going to sleep and waking up to suck a spectacular view was Amazing. Thank you again Lance.

  • Lance did a great job of communicating to us through AirBNB. We chose him as our host to celebrate our sixth year wedding anniversary. I was not disappointed in the view from his steel treehouse home. Everything was clean - our room, our bathroom, linens. We had a great time watching the sun set, watching the glow of Portland city lights, and the sun rise from his home. I would recommend Lance to anyone.

  • Great place to relax. Great views and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you!

    Steev2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house truly is an architectural marvel, it is great to see the history of such a marvel with your own eyes, and if you want to learn more about the history Lance the owner is a great guy that is very willing to give a fun history lesson about it. The views of portland probably can't be beat and that is what makes it so awesome!

    Keith2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lance welcomed us at the agreed check-in time and helped us carry our bags downstairs. The separate sitting room has a table large enough to do some serious work if need be. The bedroom has an attached bathroom and shower. Lance provided the shampoo, hand soap and plenty of towels and a hair dryer. There is plenty of space in the closet to hang full length clothes and store suitcases. The bed is comfortable and the linens are soft and cozy. Words will not describe the view from the full length windows in the bedroom. My husband and I usually have our laptops out–but, not once did we ever power up. We rarely used our phones except to play some background music. We spent all of Saturday late afternoon and evening simply watching the weather changes, Mt Hood, Mt St. Helens, and airplanes land at the Portland Airport and the Portland traffic. It was an on and off rainy weekend, but in the treehouse it was still bright and cheerful. The two decks offer standing room only, but are perfect for taking some photos and taking in fresh air. We didn’t spend as much time with Lance but when we did, it was good conversation and pleasant. He is a generous host offering coffee in the morning and whatever is in the fridge. Lance’s kitten Bukowski checked in on us from time to time, offering to play and snuggle up. Bukowski is quite interested in visitors and curious about what you’re doing. Truly one of the most relaxing and enjoying trips my husband and I have taken in the last few years.

  • Awesome house and lance is a great host. Highly recommend. Also Love buk iwaki "the cat" a friendly fellow!!!

    Nadine2016-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome! There really is no way to describe the views. You can see both Mt. St. Hellens and Mt. Hood from your bedroom window. Lance is so accommodating, and loves to chat. The cat (which is hypoallergenic) is great! My wife is very allergic, and she didn't sniffle once! Definitely looking forward to staying again.

    Jon2017-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED staying here. The view from the bedroom and the sitting room and the garden and the upper floor.... okay, everywhere you look it's beautiful! We stayed here on the 3rd day of our road trip so we didn't interact with Lance much as we were exhausted from our day in Portland. He was very welcoming.

Unique hand built cob cottage next to lg. pond w water feature. Lg. fenced and gated yard. Gentle, curving space-made from sand, straw, water and earth . Featured in multiple international publications. The floor is also earthen clay with added radiant heat. Beautiful natural light. It's truly a magical place.
It's a curvilinear earthen structure hand sculpted from water, sand, straw, and clay earth. It features a radial roof with a central pagoda-like skylight. When building the Cob, we used reclaimed and natural materials when ever possible. The insulation in the ceiling is made from pulverized reclaimed blue jeans and the floor is made from the same earthen clay. It has a Dutch door, so you can open the top part for additional ventilation. It also has air conditioning available in the warmer months and a radiant heat floor. The bed is a very comfortable double with a memory foam mattress topper. The bathroom for the cottage is in the main house, about 40 steps to the back door. Inside you’ll find a large sitting room and full kitchen as well as your bath with claw foot tub and shower. These spaces are shared with 2 Airbnb rooms in the house. If you find the bath busy, our full bath is available upstairs on the second floor.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store.
  • Jack and Cris were friendly and accessible via text before and during our stay in Portland. Checking in was a breeze, and it was wonderful to have our own private space in the midst of a busy family visit to Oregon. The neighborhood is quiet, welcoming, and cat-friendly--which was an added bonus to a couple of pet-deprived travelers!

  • Friendly, cozy, feels like home. A++

    Debbie2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Neat place! Very clean and warm, loved the heated floor. Started the morning with delicious coffee by the pond. Thanks Jack and Cris!

    Jeff & Maija2017-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Jack and Chris provided a lovely stay. Their place was nice and cozy. It was also very close to Division Street, which is a great place to visit. Would definitely recommend!

  • The cottage was beautiful and in a great setting with great proximity to a very nice part of town.

    Jamie2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Such a magical place to stay. The house is made with such love and attention to details. We loved the feel of staying in such a natural room. We appreciated the little artistic touches in the sunroom, bathroom and yard as well. It was a lovely stay for our babymoon. Thank you!

    Meag2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a short weekend stay at Jack and Cris' place - it was perfect! Something a bit different than a hotel yet still very comfortable. The cottage was warm and cozy, and the bed was super comfortable memory foam. Easy to get to, and everywhere we went in Portland was a $5-12 Uber ride from their home. Would definitely stay again! Thanks for having us!

    Julia2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect! The space is unique and comfortable. If we are ever in Portland again, we'll be sure to see if Chris and Jack have space for us,

    Portland, Oregon, Stany Zjednoczone

This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. For your comfort, this as a "pet dander free" space. No pets, thanks. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!
  • Andrée's garden studio is simply awesome. A little piece of home that has been crafted with care, and a whole lot of creativity! It has proved to be incredibly inspiring in so far as I stayed there a week, on a writing retreat. Andrée herself is a very easygoing, open-minded and pleasant person to be around. Makes you feel at home in a mintute. I had barely just arrived, she was already writing me down a list of nice spots to eat and drink in the neighborhood. And it turns out she was of great advice! I actually endend up enjoying Woodlawn and Alberta Avenue more than Downtown. Thumbs up for Northeast Portland! For anyone who enjoys alternative lifestyles, underground culture and a hint of peacefulness, this is definitely the place to stay at! Though I have to warn you, you might want to move there forever.

    Sophie2014-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Andrée’s place! The loft was well decorated and fun to stay in. It is conveniently located, especially if you have a car. Additionally, her dogs are adorable.

    William2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn't have possibly asked for more! The barn was cozy, comfortable, and all-around charming. Andrée was a lovely host and made us feel extremely welcome! There were tons of great small businesses in the area and the relaxed neighborhood vibe made NE Portland our favorite section of the city. Two different bus lines dropped off a mere two (short) blocks from the barn which made getting around the rest of Portland a breeze (ps: it's only $5 to ride the transit all day). This was my first experience utilizing Airbnb and I would definitely recommend staying in this rustic barn studio to a friend!

    Shannon2015-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée is a fantastic, personable, and warm human being. Staying with her was a treat. We were lucky enough to spend some time and get to know her before staying in her adorable mini house outside. This was all after she had been incredibly accommodating of our last minute booking and later than anticipated arrival. The bed was comfortable, and though there's no running water where you sleep it's very cozy and just what we needed. She provided water for us to drink and beer from the local brewery to try, and everything was cleaner and more presentable than the hotel room we'd stayed in about a week prior. The bathroom and shower are inside the main house which is no trouble at all especially because her shower has the most amazing water pressure I've experienced, I could've stayed in there for hours. I plan to stay with Andrée again if we ever make it back to Portland, but next time we'll use Apple maps instead of (Hidden by Airbnb) maps to avoid the NE vs N Bryant street confusion.

  • Great place, cozy and sleeps 4. And is pretty easy to find. Although the wi-fi was no good!

  • A cosy studio that was a perfect base to explore portland. Andree was welcoming and helpful as a host, and the flat was clean and well stocked its all sorts of goodies. Highly recommended!

  • Wasn't great to communicate with when trying to set up a time to check in. Room was very nice, but not in a very nice area of Portland.

  • Andrée's place was great. I was only there a few hours but it was really cozy and a perfect location!

With lots of space and light, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, King Memory foam Bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv i, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a king bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.
  • We absolutely loved this place! The location is gorgeous and so easy to get around from. We rented a car but still appreciated the proximity to everything we had planned. The only thing I will say is the shower is very small. I had to turn the water off in order to wash my body but it stayed warm enough and wasn't a big deal. There were nice touches througout and quality bath and body products which was appreciated. We needed a little extra wood and Jason accommodated our request by the next night. A great stay for sure and we look forward to visiting portland again in the future.

    Christine2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was perfect for our stay in Portland. Loved the nearby coffee shops and running through the neighborhood. Studio was clean and check-in was easy. The neighborhood guide was also super helpful!

    Nicole2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jason was accommodating and very responsive to SMS and AirBnb messages. The apartment is very typical of older Portland apartments and reminds me of some that I lived in once upon a time. The neighborhood has excellent bus service to the rest of the city, is pleasant to walk through and is full of trees. A few blocks north (within walking distance) is a Whole Foods grocery store and a nice coffee shop.

    Andrew2014-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute apartment. We had everything we needed. Our visit was in the winter and we had to start a fire to get the room warm, but that was part of the fun!

    Natalie2015-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! I felt right at home here. The neighborhood was so nice and walkable. Very close to things to do.

    Sarah2018-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great home! Very warm and inviting space that made for a great vacation :). Communication with Jason and Hannah was also very easy and they made my stay very enjoyable!

    Amanda2018-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, close to transit. There is no TV or Radio, but just made me want to explore the city more, but would have been nice to watch a movie with the fire going and rain drizzling outside. If you are wanting to explore Alberta this is the spot for you.

    Patrick2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jason's place was perfect! Charming studio apartment in a great location. Will definitely try to stay here again the next time I visit!

This quaint totally furnished garden cottage, one bedroom apt. is private with it's own key, private entrance, and courtyard in the downstairs of our historic brick English tutor home in Laurelhurst, a beautiful old Portland community! Read our outstanding reviews!
This quaint 1 bedroom furnished apt. is located downstairs in our historic brick English tutor home. It has a separate key, private entrance, and courtyard. The space is well-lit with two windows and has a back door to a beautiful garden and patio in the backyard as well as a side door to the courtyard. Major shopping, wonderful restaurants and one of Portland's most beautiful parks are all within walking distance. This ideal location is only two blocks from a major bus line and 5 blocks from the MAX train. Other amenities include a private courtyard, washer/dryer in the apt., and easy walking distance to bus, train, restaurants and shopping. More information on our historic home can be found on Oregon Encyclopedia website. Search for "Brick House Beautiful". Our home has also been in "Better Home and Gardens" magazine and has been twice on the cover of "Old House Journal". If we are home when you arrive, we will be happy to give you a tour of our home and offer you a cup of tea or a glass of wine while you have complete access to our English gardens, courtyard and barbecue during your stay. We think you will be pleased if you choose to stay in the "Quaint English Garden Apartment " located in our beautiful historic home!
Laurelhurst is an historic old Portland neighborhood with beautiful homes, street trees and a huge park a few blocks away designed by the Olmsted's who designed Central Park in NYC. You will see how homes in Laurelhurst are each very different and unique from craftsmen with large porches to smaller bungalows with beautiful gardens.
  • What a lovely place to stay ! Has all the amenities you need and more ! Very cozy and cute cottage. Sue knows how to make you feel at home.

    Marisa2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were a bit disappointed, since the hosts were out of town and couldn't meet them. We had been informed prior to our arrival that there would be a house sitter. Karen was there on our arrival and was delightful. In fact, we spent our last evening visiting in the garden with a bottle of wine.

    jennifer2016-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The neighborhood is lovely, the gardens spectacular and the apartment just fine. Given the other reviews, I was sorry that Sue and Bob were out of town, but I loved my stay in their home. One might not really get the feeling of quaint, until they walk up the totally brick driveway, go through a garden gate and find themselves in a storybook setting. Every facet of their yard is a delight. One can easily walk into very, very interesting neighborhoods -- the best morning walks ever. It is an easy walk to charming retail areas that fulfill any shopping expectations that I had. And it is a very centrally located and easy to navigate from, into other parts of the city. Very clean kitchen and bathroom. There is no sitting room or living room but the bed functioned fine in that capacity! It was great!

    Deborah2012-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The property was in a nice area of Portland and quiet. We enjoyed the white kitty cat.

    David2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Quaint English Cottage Garden Apt. It was perfect for our needs. The bed was extremely comfortable and with the quiet environment, we could have stayed in bed much longer. The kitchen, utility room, and bathroom had everything we could have wanted for a short stay - including popcorn! Bob and Sue were great hosts - giving us a tour of their home and a bottle of wine to welcome us. We would have enjoyed spending more time with them if we were staying longer. We will certainly be back to stay with them the next time we travel to Portland!

    Joe2016-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob are so nice & have such a cozy apartment filled w/a library of information about Portland - and lots of snacks! Sue helped me find yoga classes and even gave me a ride to them! The house and neighborhood are adorable, too.

    Julia2017-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely small apartment in a wonderful section of Portland. The hosts were warm and friendly and shared their lovely garden with us as well as tips on what to do in the area. One of our best Airbnb experiences.

    Ann2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay. The description of the "Quaint English Cottage Apt" was perfect and the apt lived up to our expectations. It is delightfully furnished in period appliances from the fifties with dishes and furnishings to match. At Sue and Bob suggestion we tired the neighborhood and local park, and my wife and both agreed that pleasant stroll with the diverse architecture was a highlight of our stay. The cottage is very convienently located for both downtown excursions and exploring the east side of Portland. The bed was super comfy! Our visit was in January so we missed the lovely garden area in its full glory, but even so it felt so English! We plan on returning in the early summer so that we can enjoy sitting in the garden in the evening.

Everything you need is here at our brand new guesthouse loft: a luxurious, lofted queen bedroom; high ceilings with floods of natural light, a modern kitchen, full bath with heated tile, comfy sleeper sofa for extra guests, and Stumptown Coffee with organic cream. The loft rests at the back of the property, one block from bustling Division St, and short blocks from restaurants, coffeeshops, & the Woodsman Tavern, named “One of America’s Best Bars,” by Esquire Magazine.
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Mi Mero Mole, The Woodsman), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.
  • Laurel & Brian's guest house was absolutely perfect for us! I stayed with my boyfriend for 5 nights while we explored the Portland area (we're from the East coast). We loved the loft style, how spacious yet comfy the design was, and how convenient all the features were. For example, the bathroom was beautiful and clean, the loft bedroom was bright and stylish, the AC worked super well (we like it cool & had a warm couple of August days), and the remote controlled shades were awesome. Having the washer/dryer & free laundry detergent was ultra convenient, as Portland was not the last stop on our trip. There was a lot in walking, biking, or short driving distance of the house, but the street is super quiet and has a small town vibe. We traveled around quite a bit and found navigating the area by car super easy! We rented a car and found parking to be available within a 0-2 block distance of the house at all times of the day & night, including the weekend. I would be remiss if I didn't strongly recommend Good Coffee, which was 1 short block from the house. Of all the coffee I had in Portland, Good Coffee was my favorite - not to mention what a well designed space it is to hang out or get some work done. Last but not least, Brian & Laurel were both perfect hosts. They were welcoming and ready to help out, but definitely let us do our own thing and have privacy. Check in and check out were both a breeze. We couldn't have asked for better experience!

  • The place is ideal for an extended visit. Definitely spacious with great natural light!

  • We absolutely loved our stay in Laurel and Brian's loft! It has everything you need and is in a great location. Love how you guys did the space. This is the standard all airbnbs should be at, thanks so much, we hope to visit Portland again sometime!

    Matthew2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place. Highly suggest it?

    Moses2018-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, new stylish and cozy little place. Parking sucks only street parking and good luck finding any near by. Be prepared to walk a few blocks. Home offers great wifi but no TV. Wish they did have a TV, would of been nice to log into Netflix to watch a movie and unwind. The home is in a central location minutes from everything. Check in and out was a breeze. I would recommend it to others looking for something affordable and cozy.

  • We loved staying here! Great location, great apartment! There were 4 four of us, so we can attest to the excellent quality of both beds. Very quiet and bright setting, nestled in great area for walking and dining. Can't wait to return!

  • Gracious host and great place to stay. Close to shops and restaurants.

Where Bali meets Portland. Come relax in this newly, beautifully designed, private mixed use accommodation. Just five short blocks from Portland's hip N Williams district. A rooftop deck.
I have a total of five rooms, each listed separately in this unique mixed-use building where I also live and work. You will enter just past the Ned Ludd front patio via a private, secure, gated entrance off of MLK at NE Failing street and follow the stairway up to the second level. This is the larger of the three rooms. Each room is newly refurbished and furnished with beautiful, responsibly sourced tropical salvage out of Indonesia and locally re-purposed wood/trim doors and windows. Your private room comes with a window, a wall-mounted flatscreen t.v., small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, free wi-fi an armoire, an ornate sink carved out of stone, down pillows, down comforters, a king-sized posturepedic mattress and zen colored walls that might just make you think you are in... Bali?
NEPO (aka NE Portland) is hip and cool and like so many hip Portland neighborhoods–it is ever-expanding and reinventing itself. New restaurants, shops, boutiques and businesses are popping up all over. Whether you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night while you get out and explore during the day, or you are just looking for a place you can hole up and relax, we've got you covered. The options and amenities you will find here in your little oasis in NEPO are plentiful.
  • Great location in a beautiful building! A hip, boutique hostel with big, airy rooms and shared, hallway bathrooms. The back patio area is delightful and very nice to be able to sit out there both morning and night. Location is walking distance to many shops, bars, and restaurants and a quick ride to several other fun neighborhoods. Timothy always answered the phone and provided what was needed asap. Very sweet dog too!! Only complaint, which has been mentioned before, were the towels. Not as fresh smelling and cleaning as one would like but hopefully something that can and will be easily fixed. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time. Would definitely recommend and also come back!!

    Laura2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Timothy’s place was perfect for my one night stay in Portland! Very cozy and private for a place with a shared bath. Next to great restaurants and easy to walk to many places. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    Brook2018-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying here - the room was spacious, and the location was great! It was pretty warm a couple nights, but Tim brought us a portable fan which helped cool the room down a bit. You can hear some street noise, so be sure to bring some ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.

    Lisa2015-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, the bedroom looks exactly as the photos. The bed is cozy and nice towels. The room is right next to a great cafe with homemade baked goods called Bushel and Peck and dinner at Ned Ludd is a must. You can walk to Alberta St, North Williams and Mississippi within 20 mins or less where there are great neighborhood restaurants, yoga and coffee shops.

    Christina2015-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great lively neighbourhood with lots of close by amenities including a bakery next door and a solid winery, Tesoaria, a short walk away. Tim wasn't able to meet us but arranged for his partner to welcome us at the location and show us around. Everything is as promised- clean, comfortable and spacious.

    Robert2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Cute and clean room with a shared shower and toilet with other guest rooms at the house. The room is right above the street so sounds from cars have to be covered up by the ambient noise generator in the room.

    Juliana2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great find in North East Portland. It was very close to the Venue I was attending and super easy to get to thanks to Timothy's clear instructions. The room was stylish and the King Bed was a dream. I loved the stone sink in the room. It was a very well done. Make sure you visit the wonderful coffee shop a couple of doors down. Great coffee and morning treats!!

    Laura2018-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Timothy's place seems a bit over-priced for what it is. It seems like more of an upscale hostel, which was not what we were expecting. My fiance and I though we were treating to ourselves to a nicer place (given the price point) compared to the other one we were considering which was half the price, which I wish we went with. Timothy's place isn't bad by any means, it just feels like too much money for what you get. The hallway is a row of rooms, some shared bathrooms and shower rooms. In general the room had dust, the laundry/coffee area and common areas were a bit messy (we were especially excited for the deck but it just didn't seem put together). Also, it's not a good sign when there is a white-noise machine and ear plugs on the night stand... we learned the road was pretty loud, which can effect a light sleeper like myself. We also anticipated a vibrant cool part of town, but this area didn't feel like the best. If the prices were cut in half I would say I'd be fine with this stay, but we went into it anticipating a bit more.

Relaxed + modern one bedroom basement apt. Bright + spacious with a handmade Portland touch. Comfortable for two, it's a great home-base for the traveler wanting to explore PDX! Located in charming Woodlawn neighborhood. Near the park, bars and bus lines.
Handmade by us! We're a craftsman and an interior designer who are not afraid to get our hands dirty. Stay in this remodeled basement where every detail was thought, planned and carefully constructed. We value high-end, conscious design. Our motto is maintain, reclaim and sustain. All of the exposed wood was salvaged from this 100 year old home! We love our house and hope that you do too. It's a great, peaceful place to crash at the end of the day. A plush queen sized bed, a huge doorless walk-in bathroom (ie. divided by a wall), glass walk-in shower and a tiny but efficient kitchen were top priorities when we made this place. The kitchen has dishwasher/fridge/oven stocked with all the pots/pans and plates to make a nice meal at home. Its always a shifting art-installation, so don't be surprised if the art in the listing photos change. We like to collect art and objects during our travels.
We're one block from 2 major bus lines (the 8 goes to downtown) and our neighborhood market, P's & Q's. 3 blocks from Woodlawn park + 5 blocks to our neighborhood hub: breweries, dance hall, coffee shop and restaurants. Woodlawn is a great area and closely located to Alberta Arts District, Mississippi and Kenton.
  • Anna and Jeremy's space was clean, cozy, and well-designed - it's a gorgeous space! The home is a short walk from a few bus stops and in a quiet and safe neighborhood. They provided a long list of things to do and places to eat. We were thankful that they let us pass by and drop our bags off before check in since we had an early flight! We would love to stay here when I visit in the future!

    Gayle2018-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Love this place, lovely decor. Excellent location, very close to restaurants and bars.

    Meshelle2018-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • everything from check-in to check-out went smoothly, the space was spotless, comfortable and felt very safe. would absolutely recommend staying here.

  • Anna and Jeremy have the CUTEST place! It was so cozy, comfortable, centrally-located, and Anna and Jeremy provided so many wonderful tips for things to see/do/eat! My husband and I will definitely stay here again the next time we're in Portland.

    Stephanie2016-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This house was awesome! The layout was perfect and it was in a very peaceful part of town, but it's only about a thirty minute bus ride to downtown. Anna and Jeremy were extremely accommodating and polite. If you're looking for a nice getaway you should stay here.

    Victoria2014-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Jeremy went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. The space is completely charming and in a great location, with lots to see within walking distance and downtown Portland only a short drive away. Thanks again!

    Joanna2014-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Anna & Jeremy made us feel very welcome and gave us plenty of great information. The space exceeded our expectations and the shower is incredible! The neighborhood offers great food and coffee within just a couple of blocks. We would definitely stay here again!

    Justin2015-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was better than we anticipated. The design was stunning and we were amazed at how comfortable it was. We never met Anna and Jeremy because we were mostly out exploring Portland but they were very helpful with check in and even let us know when the apartment was ready for us hours earlier than scheduled!

  • Great little place in a perfect location. Walking distance to great restaurants, bars, and shops. Anastasia was easy to get in touch with and provided us with everything we needed for our stay!

  • Excellent location and adorable place.

  • Le logement était très propre, situé très près de toutes les attractions. Restos et bars intéressants. Entrée autonome très précise! Facile d’accès en transport en commun. Nous recommandons à 100%! Sarah et Pat, Pohenegamook, QC, CANADA

  • Anastasia is the ideal AirBnB host. Her communication with my daughter and I prior to our arrival was great. She even accommodated our early arrival and let us store our bags before check-in. The studio is well equipped and ideally located, only a few blocks from the heart of Portland's best shops and restaurants. I definitely recommend Anastasia's studio and plan to return in the future.

    Melinda2016-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful – very spacious – bachelor suite, with all the amenities you need, and in the heart of one of Portland’s historic districts! The neighbhourhood was a treat to walk around in — beautiful homes, artisan shops and great restaurants. You’re also a stone’s throw from Blue Star donuts and Salt and Straw icecream parlour (both must eats)! The suite is also within walking distance to downtown, and is only a few minutes walk to transit (street car or bus). Anastasia was a great host – she was there to greet us when we arrived, and was available to answer any questions we had throughout our stay. She had also laid out fresh roses on the table for our arrival! We would definitely recommend and would stay there again!

    William & Kerry2016-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • The location was pretty unbeatable - right by a great donut place, ice cream, and some amazing restaurants! The apartment itself was cozy and comfortable with all the amenities we needed to be a great home base.

    Jamie2017-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is THE spot to lay your head after Portlanding (or Oregoning). It is a killer of a deal. We've stayed at many airbnbs (fans) and 90% of the time we have a nice stay, but would not return for various, usually small reasons. Odd layout, doors that don't shut, cold concrete, creaky vintage etc. We would stay here again in a heartbeat (if we can plan that far ahead again to get a reservation!). From the artistic details (light fixtures, furniture & cutlery) to the buffed wood floor, to the noise-buffering curtains, to the view! (hidden gem from the bed). STAY HERE!

Our private detached garden studio sits in the heart of a quiet residential neighborhood and is a short stroll to top restaurants, food carts, and shopping in hip SE Portland. The space is compact -- about 240sf -- but cozy, bright and a great place to unwind after a day of exploring Portland!
Our cozy studio includes a comfy queen bed, vaulted ceilings, full bathroom, kitchenette, and small sitting area. It's fully detached from the main house, so offers complete privacy. Skylights, french doors, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows provide views of the west hills and flood the room with an abundance of natural light, even on the greyest of drizzly Portland days. It's small --about 240sf-- but the space is well utilized with many amenities such as wireless Bluetooth speaker, Portland maps and guides, and comfy pillows and blankets to make it feel like home. The space is best suited for guests seeking a cozy place to relax and recharge after a day of exploring Portland; If you're needing more of a "hangout spot," this may not be the best fit. The studio has a full bathroom with shower (no tub). The kitchenette includes a mini fridge, sink, instant hot water, coffee maker, microwave and everything you need for reheating leftovers from the many restaurants and food carts nearby. Complementary tea and coffee are provided along with a long list of restaurant recommendations. There’s a growler available for filling, which you can do at The Imperial Bottle Shop on Division Street and at many local breweries and grocery stores nearby.
We love living in the heart of the Richmond neighborhood! Nestled on a quiet, residential street, we're a short stroll (about 1/3mi) to two main restaurant and retail districts of SE Portland. A 4-block walk brings you to a bus stop that can get you most anywhere else in town. A short walk from the studio brings you to food, shopping and entertainment (to name a few of our favorites): PokPok, Salt & Straw, Ava Gene's, Bollywood Theater; Food Cart pods, Little T Bakery, St Honore; A myriad of boutiques, shops and independent movie theaters on Hawthorne, Clinton and Division streets. You'll likely meet some friendly neighborhood cats during your stay, but due to severe allergies, our studio is pet- and allergen-free. You may also spot our eyepatch-wearing, kung fu-performing neighbor (and good friend) practicing in the street, sometimes alongside his 4yo daughter. He’s a world-renowned martial artist and teacher, is super friendly and adds some true Portland character to our otherwise sleepy neighborhood.
  • Everything was just as pictured and described, and more! Melissa has truly thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The space was beautiful and tastefully designed. She was flexible with our check-in and out times. We couldn't have asked for more!

    Julia2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Melissa's place. Our schedule was very full while we were in town and the studio was a great quiet retreat to rest. Although we were not able to meet Melissa in person due to our schedule, her communication was excellent. She had left us many tips on places to eat and see. Gaining entry to the studio was very simple and convenient. We will keep Melissa's studio on our list for our next trip to Portland.

  • Melissa and Brian gifted us the best experience -- they were friendly, helpful, and offered the most beautiful private studio. The location was perfect -- easy to walk to eclectic eateries and a short trip to downtown Portland. The studio was GORGEOUS. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Every wish of a lovely experience, a stay away from home, comes true each visit. My first stay, delightful. This past stay, delightful. Very clean. Pleasing to the eye and most comfortable. Sun filled. Peaceful. The windowed garden view nook for reading or for looking out the windows, stargazing, or seeing the magical soft lights, from afar, the hills above Portland. Location, easy walks. Local eateries and coffee shops galore. A short drive to across the river, adventures in the city. Museums, galleries, or a visit to downtown Powell's Book Store, occupying a whole city block. Communication fabulous, as was the host. All, a delight.

    Lutye2017-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa was the perfect host. She greeted me upon arrival, answered all my questions, oriented me to the room / neighborhood. The room was clean and everything you need is available. The neighborhood is quiet. Cant wait to come back to Portland. Will stay here again.

    michael 2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot give sufficient kudos to Melissa and Brian. Many wonderful small touches to make our stay so comfortable and homey. Big fluffy towels, cozy comfy bed, cute decor, spotlessly clean and a well equipped galley. Despite some horrid icy weather we were cozy and warm. All restaurants within walking dustace are A+++. We Hope too stay again in warmer weather

    Isabella2016-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa and Brian were such great hosts and so welcoming upon our arrival. We were only in town for a short stay while in town for my wife's show a great little shop called Gem Gem right down the street. It was so nice have such wonderful place to come back to at the end of the day. This place is incredible and the attention to detail that went into making sure we had everything we needed blew our minds. We have already recommended the place to our friends and will 100% be back to stay here again! Kevin and Andrea From Vancouver, BC

    Kevin2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Easily the best Airbnb experience I've ever had. The studio is in a great location, easy to access, and is just stunning. There were so many cute details that made it such a welcoming place to stay. Melissa even provided a list of food recommendations and was very responsive to any questions we had. Would definitely recommend!

A quiet, cozy bedroom & bathroom on the ground floor of a beautiful, modern new home in a verdant, friendly Southeast Portland neighborhood. Enthusiastic greeting by very friendly dogs & cat comes standard!
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE REQUESTING ACCOMMODATION. As a courtesy to our guests, our check-in time is 2:00 pm; however, as we both work weekdays, we cannot have the rooms ready until 5:30 or so. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up. (PLEASE NOTE: This listing highlights the primary guest bedroom available, but for parties of 3 or 4 people, we do have a secondary bedroom that also features a queen-sized bed. If you are making a reservation for two people and you wish to book both bedrooms, PLEASE EXPLICITLY TELL US SO, as the default for two guests is ONE bedroom; for a two-guest reservation, the cost will be the listed room rate + $30/night. All guests share the same bathroom.) There is almost an entire floor available in our newish home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedroom, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room (please note: the first-floor living room is NOT private, as it does not have a ceiling and is the way between the front door of the house and the stairs to the second floor). We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific sandwich shop that's open for breakfast, lunch AND dinner, a pizza joint, a Starbucks, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about two miles south of the trendy Hawthorne district, one mile south of nationally-recognized Division Street, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities. We have a very friendly housecat you will likely meet during your stay, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed for the comfort of allergen-sensitive guests. We also have two friendly dogs who will greet you eagerly upon your arrival, but who otherwise spend their time hanging out with us and don't wander much to the guest floor. Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.
  • Although we only met Brad and Becca for a moment, we felt welcome into their home. We came into the airbnb when they were gone, and they provided all the details necessary to get in and make ourselves at home. The bedroom shown is fairly small, but cozy, and they welcomed us with a note by the bedside with the house information and a chocolate. Sadly, we kept missing eachother! But their cat, Diego, kept us company and made us feel like we actually lived there because he was so sweet! The shower was stocked with a dispenser for shampoo/conditioner/body wash and fresh towels. All in all, we are happy we stayed here. Thank you Brad & Becca! Hope to catch you guys next time.

    Nick2016-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Brad and Becca's urban treehouse! It was a beautiful & super clean home, with the cutest pets!! We were very comfortable and felt safe with our stay here! They also had a lot of handy amenities readily available, even though we didn't need to use any of it (ex: iron, hair dryer, white noise maker, etc....), it was good to know we had them in case we needed it! Great hosts overall :)

    Ceanne2014-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying at Brad & Becca's! It was so conveniently close to public transit (which we used almost every day). We also rented a car for part of our stay and finding parking was not a problem! They provided everything we needed (towels, toilette trees, blankets, pillows) and were always available if we needed to communicate with them. We only wish to have interacted with our hosts a little more because they really are great people! We highly recommend staying at this wonderful home!

    Cristal2016-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Brad and Becca's place! Their house was beautiful and I loved that I was able to walk or bike pretty much everywhere.

  • wow, could not have picked a better place! everything from the hosts to the ambiance and cleanliness and accommodations was top notch. it was such an ideal place to retreat to after being out and about. my only regret is not having more time to interact more with brad & becca & carlos & diego but i have a feeling i'll be back! :)

    Mariel2016-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Becca & Brad's house was wonderful. I was greeted with a warm welcoming smile and shown to a wonderful cozy room. And then...quiet and privacy. And what a beautiful house!!!! Easy parking, and only a few blocks from New Seasons, the best healthy grocery store in Portland. It was a great experience.

  • Piedmont Cottage was a fantastic place for me to stay while doing business in Portland. It was within walking distance to a great grocery store and had enough amenities for me to be able to cook my own meals (one of my traveling tips to staying healthy while on the road). Really felt at home and in my own space in this cute set up.

  • Heather's cottage was absolutely lovely! A perfect space for up to 4 people with the lofted bed and pull out sofa and a very convenient kitchen. The cottage was in a convenient location only 1 block to the nearest bus stop (easiest to get anywhere in portland in our opinion) or a 10 minute walk from the MAX station. Our hosts were incredibly nice and anything we needed for a comfortable stay was provided. Thanks Heather and we hope to return soon! Oh yeah and rent bikes of course!

  • We honestly could not have found a more perfect space or hosts than Heather and Topher.. We would not hesitate to recommend Piedmont Cottage...Also the location is amazing!

    Molly2014-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We greatly enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It's cozy and well-appointed and in a great location for exploring Portland. I appreciated the nice touches - good coffee, wine, soaps, etc. Our hosts were friendly and responsive. I'd definitely recommend it to others.

    Kimberly2016-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable and inviting - I can't imagine a better retreat in Portland! Heather and Topher were terrific hosts and most accomodating. Piedmont Cottage was immaculate and not sparing in details - a full kitchen, lovely bath and heavenly bed tucked away in a little loft. The neighborhood was friendly and there is a beautiful park across the street, perfect for walking. I hated to leave and will definitely book again.

  • My boyfriend and I just returned back to the east coast after the most amazing stay at Heather and Topher's Piedmont Cottage. The cottage was absolutely perfect. Everything from the hiking guide books (Table Mountain was our favorite ;) to the incredibly comfortable bed and linens, we truly felt spoiled! The location of the cottage was also perfect. We got to know NE Alberta Ave really well and had some amazing eats at Bollywood Theater, Salt & Straw and Petite Provence. When we weren't eating our way through Portland, we did day trips to the coast, the Columbia River Gorge, and Mt. Hood. The provided guide books and magazines helped us plan some special days outside the city. Heather and Topher provided us with an incredibly warm and hospitable home away from home. The Piedmont Cottage is the perfect home base for any type of traveler looking to explore Portland and the surrounding area. We are already counting down the days until we can go back! xo

  • My husband and I had a great stay in Topher and Heather's lovely cottage. The location couldn't have been better. We enjoyed walking around the rose garden across the street and spent our nights eating at some awesome restaurants that were walking distance in the Mississippi district. The cottage was a great place to come back and relax.

    Jenna2015-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Heather was great! Cottage was whimsical and fun! My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. Bed was very comfy, everything was very clean, looked just like the pictures. • Paul's place was in a lovely tree lined neighbourhood, which was fairly close to public transport making it easy to get into town. He was absolutely lovely to my family and I at check in and check out, and helped us out by keeping our bags for us until we needed to head to the airport. Paul was very quick to respond to any messages and lovely to chat to - we wished we could have stayed longer! Would highly recommend this funky pad to any Portland goers.

    Liv2017-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay here. Parking was a little bit tricky because of traffic and the neighborhood streets are pretty narrow. It's the upper floor of a house, but you have complete privacy upstairs. The pictures are accurate.

    Madeline2017-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Paul greeted us and made us feel right at home. The place was comfortable, in a great location and had everything we needed for our stay.

    Cindy2016-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's place had exactly everything we needed for our stay in Portland. The decor was bright and fun. The location was central and a close drive to everywhere we wanted to go in Portland! Paul was very accommodating and welcoming to ensure we had a nice home away from home. The check out and check out process was seamless!

    Cheryl2016-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was an amazing host and the Funky Pad was so comfortable and clean! My brother and I went to Portland to do some food scene research and the Funky Pad was such a welcoming place to rest our heads between our large meals. Highly recommended!

    Sophia2016-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was very welcoming and an excellent host. He was very accommodating and attentive. The space was exactly what we expected it to be. The location was pretty central and easy to get to other parts of Portland and about 20 minutes away from the airport. We couldn't have asked for a better host and stay.

    Eric2016-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Funky Pad was perfect for us. Paul was super cool and helpful. The place was great, exactly as described and close to a lot of cool spots. Check Paul's ultimate guide of places to visit while in town. Very happy with our choice. Thanks, Paul!

Bright and clean private bedroom just one block off of Mississippi St. district in N. Portland. Minutes from downtown via bike, light rail or car. Easy access to/from the Airport too! Five years in and our five star rating is going strong!
This home is clean, quiet, creative and perfectly situated for an amazingly rich and convenient Portland experience. With a comfortable Queen bed (fits 2), wood floors, ample closet space, garden views and adjacent shared bathroom, you'll feel right at home. Please note that we ask our guests to limit bathroom visits to 15 minutes (especially in the morning) as this space shares a bathroom with an additional Airbnb room. Full access to kitchen, living room with fireplace, and landscaped garden patio with raised beds and seating. The home is full of plants and art from around the world. No pets/Allergen free! The Mississippi St. district is the place to be! Amazing restaurants, food carts, bars, breweries and stellar music venues are literally a minutes walk from the front door. NOT an easy place to get bored! Parking is easy in this safe neighborhood. The MAX light rail system has a stop just minutes away (walking) that can shoot you downtown or drop you off from the airport. Please note that our close proximity to the I-5 freeway does provide some background noise (not really noticeable inside the house). PLEASE NOTE: Arthur and Adam live in an adjacent building on the property. Audra is our house manager and good friend - and lives on the top floor of this home.
Portland's Historic Mississippi District is definitely where you want to stay when visiting the city. A gorgeous and funky stretch full of great shops, award-winning restaurants, an incredible music venue and amazing bars with outdoor patios and inspiring craft cocktails. SUPER easy to get to other parts of the city from here too!
  • Nice place for visitors to the Portland area. Close to max, simple arrival process, lovely home. Hospitable & welcoming, felt very safe

    Christina2016-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home! Well decorated with interesting pieces. We had a little hiccup on the first night but we texted them and they were right on it. Great time!

    Stephanie2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Adam and Arthur made me feel very welcome with contact information provided before I arrived and in the room with details of how to reach them, internet connection, etc. The house was spotless, shower temperature and pressure great, linens soft and coffee and frig available! I was away most of the time visiting but was able to get to bed early in the quiet of the house. This was helpful since I was from Eastern time zone. Excellent accommodation in every way.

    Robin2016-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for 2 nights at Adam's and Natalies place. We didn't get to meet Adam but Natalie was very friendly and helpful. She had a few good recommendations for us. The room was nice and clean. Situated near Mississippi Av, a cool 'alternative' street with shops and restaurants. The lightrail took us to downtown in no time. We enjoyed our stay.

    Henk2014-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent hosts, the house and room was perfect and always lovely and warm! Location was also excellent, so close to everything.

    Sarah2014-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Adam and Arthur’s place was amazing! So clean, freaking adorable, stylish decor and close to everything ! I HIGHLY recommend staying here. You won’t regret it !!

    Jess2018-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • These guys were so helpful and friendly! When I arrived there was a sign on the door with my name on it :) the house is really clean, cute, and super accessible to downtown. It really contributed to my falling in love with Portland.

    Benjamin2016-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very neat and it was beautiful. The location was really close to the #4 bus stop in mississippi street which makes commuting convenient and interesting. My friend and I didn't get to meet Adam but Arthur was so friendly and helpful when we had questions. Lastly, there's free beer! Definitely recommend their place.

Light-filled, private 2 story apartment, parking in the driveway, two major bus lines, walking distance to restaurants/bars, shopping & grocery. Separate office area, high-speed internet, great for business travel.
A well-stocked gourmet kitchen, lots of windows to let light in (blackout shade in bedroom to help you sleep!), new comfy pullout sofa, full size washer & dryer, courtyard space outside to chill out, park in the driveway right next to the apartment
The Albert Arts neighborhood has award-winning restaurants, bars and shopping all within walking distance. The apartment is on a major bus line that can get you where you need to go quickly.
  • There were no surprises at this air bnb, except for the fact that it was only a 10-15 minute walk to all of the greatest restaurants! It looks just like the pictures and felt very safe the whole time. Great location, great host, great city!

    Natalie2018-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The space was great, perfect for a few days in town before a conference! Comfortable bed, beautiful kitchen, super close to Alberta.

    Laurie2018-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, easy check in and spacious. Would stay again when I come to Portland

    Chassen2018-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • The place was modern and very clean. The sofa bed was much more comfortable than expected. Check-in was easy through lock code.

    Monica2018-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tommy's place is truly a 5-star experience. I went with my family to Portland and after a full day we pulled up to Tommy's place. Everything was clearly labeled and super easy to find. We were able to eat a nice meal at home (everything from plates and bowls to cutlery and basic kitchen items were all there) and watch some TV and play some boardgames (that were provided) before bed. The place is sparkling clean and has really modern furnishings. The sofa bed was really comfortable (akin to a luxury firm) mattress and we really enjoyed our stay. We would recommend the place to anybody!

    Alice2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was simply the cutest and coziest! My fiancé and I stayed here as our first time in Portland and it was perfect. It’s walking distance to Alberta St. also only 4 miles from downtown. Perfect location and we felt at home while being on location! The cozy apartment even had board games to play at night! Has everything you need and more. I highly recommend booking this place! Best air bnb yet!

    Megan2018-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tommy was an incredible host! The apartment was very clean, organized and Tommy provides everything you need. From towels, linen, a well stocked kitchen, privacy, local tips/suggestions, pamphlets, a laundry room, detergent, books, umbrellas and conditioner, etc, etc, we never needed to worry about buying anything extra. The location is close to a lot of popular restaurants and nice stores via walking and driving. And the price was extremely reasonable. When we come to Portland again, we hope to be able to have his place again.

The bunk room has been created as a nod to the hotel's creation as a safe place for sailors. You'll find the same thing in this space with 18' ceilings- cozy, strong, and comfortable triple bunk beds.
At The Society Hotel, we believe in making every traveler feel authentically connected to our community so they are ready to enjoy our beautiful city from day one. We offer three ways to experience our unique hotel: bunk rooms for the affordable community experience; private rooms with shared bathrooms for comfort without excess; and suites for a bit of affordable luxury. All of our rooms come with plush beds, 10-foot windows, high speed wifi, and a hospitality experience unlike any other.
Old Town is Portland's oldest neighborhood - the original epicenter of Portland, Oregon. It has a colorful history and an equally colorful present! We are the epicenter of Portland's street fashion scene, the nightlife district, as well as a social services haven for those most in need. So expect an eclectic mix from Old Town, and hopefully love it as much as we do!
  • The hotel was an awesome place to stay. I will 100% be staying there again the future. The bunk room was clean and comfortable and the rooftop deck was an added bonus with the beautiful weather for my stay. Walking distance to downtown and easy access from the airport train.

    Julia2016-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Society Hotel is an intelligently restored building in what was once called Chinatown. it is low-key chic. The front desk staff is excellent. The bunk beds are good for single women even though unisex. I loved climbing to the top bunk ( one of three). The curtained bunk is clean and fresh. The bathrooms are clean. The lobby of the hotel has a little welcoming bar for coffee in the morning or wine in front of a fire in the evening. There are also single rooms. I think this place is a gem.

    Lesley M2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • The bunk house was a great value. Bed was very comfortable. Bedding and towels were clean and new. Other guests in the bunk house were respectful and quiet at all times during the day. Bathrooms had toiletries and a built in hair dryer. There is a large fridge to store food. A sink to wash dishes and also a small faucet that has very hot water for instant coffee or oatmeal. Great location close to everything in the city aside from the many homeless people in the area.

    Marci2017-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome. The bunk was super cosy and comfortable, the bunkroom was spotlessly clean and the bathroom/kitchen area was really nice. The café was really good value and the food was fresh and filling. All the staff i met were so friendly and helpful, I loved my stay here and will definitely be back!

    Caitlin2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fantastic place to stay if you are traveling solo. I will be back!

  • The society was a big surprise to me. I didn't expect the space to be as private, clean, and equipped with nice touches, and amenities like fresh linen and soaps/shampoo, as well as a storage chest built right into your bunk. I really enjoyed the experience.

    Helon2016-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic and truly special hotel. Anytime I visit Portland in the future, I will make it a point to stay here. I was totally impressed by how clean the whole place was and how friendly and helpful all of the staff was. These guys are great!

Brand spanking new, beautiful, modern addition built on our ranch house.
Our 425 square foot addition is brand new (finished 2015) - immaculately designed, gorgeous and a perfect place to stay during your time in Portland. It has a pellet stove for delightful ambiance (and heating), it's own entrance, a blow-up air mattress (for a third guest) and a patio. Stay in a place completely Portland, powered by solar panels, built environmentally friendly, sitting on a major bike street and a couple blocks from the MAX light rail.
Our house is within 2 miles of the fantastic north and north east neighborhoods of Williams, Mississippi and Alberta. There are dozens of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance and I leave a list of our local favorites in the house.
  • Beautiful new addition, nicely decorated, very quiet neighborhood and easy to park our rental car right by the house. We were there during a typically cold and rainy few winter days, and the heating from the pellet stove and wall heater in the bedroom kept us super warm. We feel really lucky to be among the first people to stay here!

    Elizabeth2015-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was our fourth AirBnB booking, and Joseph's place was one of the nicest. Very pleasant west Portland neighborhood with nearby eateries. The rental is easy to find and conveniently just off I-5. We met Joe and Naomi as we headed out to dinner and they were pleasant, helpful and welcoming. The rental itself is new construction with touches of contemporary decor. Everything is comfortable and clean. There is a pleaant fenced patio and picnic table for pleasant evenings outside. You couldn't ask for more. We stayed prior to a flight to Denver for a family medical emergency. Given the circumstances, Joe and Naomi's rental was a welcome refuge and greatly appreciated. We hope to return.

    Wesley2016-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Addition was bright, clean, and tastefully decorated with enough space for 2. This was the last stop at the end of a 2.5 week camping roadtrip for my dude and I, and we found this place to be a perfectly relaxing spot to re energize before the long road back home. The place is nice and private, not too far from downtown and with plenty of recommendations from the hosts.

    Michelle2016-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Joseph was very flexible and kind during our stay, allowing us to check in a little early so we could get ready for a wedding on time. The home was clean without being sterile. Despite the fact their family was right next door, we had plenty of privacy. The neighborhood was very quiet.

    Caitlin2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't see Joseph, but he was a wonderful host. The Addition was very clean and welcoming. Perfect location, just a couple blocks from the MAX station.

The room also has cable TV, Queen size bed, foldout futon sofa, airbed in closet, sitting area & desk. • What a beautiful spot. Walking distance to a lot of great places to visit.

  • Jere's place was great! The room was incredibly spacious for my friend and I for our girls trip to Portland. The kitchenette was perfect for breakfast and snacks. Her house was very close to great restaurants and near a lot of transportation to the rest of Portland. Jere was incredibly nice and picked is up from the MAX stop when we arrived. She was very responsive and helpful with any of our questions. All in all a great trip! Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Jere!

    Marcia2014-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jere's son Max was humorous, gracious and welcoming. The living room/bedroom is spacious, tastefully decorated and amazingly quiet. I enjoyed sitting on the sheltered porch as the day cooled off, and walking in the friendly neighborhood. It was easy to get to downtown and back by bus, so I didn't have to use my car very much.

    Mary2015-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jere is an amazing host and the room is perfect. I moved here to Portland a little over a month ago from TX, and Jere has been instrumental in helping me to acclimate to my new home city. She is very knowledgable, provided maps, invited me on hikes, answered many questions, invited me in to the main part of the home for tea, and even met me after work to walk home (from downtown area). The room is large, clean, and comfortable with a nice private entrance covered deck and a huge bathroom, shower, and walk-in closet. I couldn't ask for a better host family or better accommodations as I begin a new life in Portland!

    Lisa2014-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was great. The 'room' was bigger than our first apartment! :) We had everything we needed and it was a snap to get to the center of the city. We had delicious breakfasts at the Bridges cafe down the road everyday. This is a very convenient, safe, comfortable, and beautiful space and I highly recommend staying here.

    Katrina2014-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jere provided a wonderful stay for us in Portland. Every detail in the room was accounted for, from maps and guide books, robes and extra towels and linens, to coffee, tea, and snacks. The space was inviting and warm, perfectly supplied and decorated that we almost didn't want to go out and explore the city! Jere made sure we had everything we needed. We were also in a perfect location, walking distance to cute restaurants, shops, and grocery store, bike distance from many others, and close to public transportation, but in a quiet residential neighborhood. We are looking forward to coming back to Portland and would make it a point to stay at Private Haven again, since it was one of the highlights of our trip.

    Lily2015-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jere has created a lovely, private and quite comfortable place. She has provided all the amenities one needs and then some! The neighborhood was quiet, lined with lovely older trees, and had a bit of a small town feel. Not far from the place are many cute and interesting places to eat and shop. I would absolutely stay at her place again.

  • Our host was available as we arrived, late, about 10PM, she was very pleasant and helpful in showing us around. The room was as depicted with a large shower and dressing area. The space was quiet. The deck was private and a great place to have an on site breakfast. I recommend staying here.

Seen on the TV show "Tiny House Nation", CNN, Food & Wine Magazine, and the NY Post, the 350 sq ft Rustic Modern Tiny House was designed and built by us, your friendly AirBNB hosts. Guests call it "completely charming" and "the perfect urban getaway". Welcome! M+J
For years we've been daydreaming about building a little house one day. Then we finally made it happen - using our own two hands (DIY! The Portland way!) and with the help of some great friends. We had a vision in mind, but a lot of the details came together as we built, based on what materials we had available to us. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room with convertible couch, and bathroom with tiny clawfoot tub. Access the upstairs via STAIRS (not a ladder), where you'll find our loft bedroom with comfortable queen sized bed. Sustainable design is important to us, and the house is constructed and furnished from an eclectic array of reclaimed materials - squirreled away over the years, and now creatively reused and repurposed. See photo captions for a detailed walkthrough of the house. A PARTIAL SNAPSHOT • The trim and shelves are reclaimed from an old shed that used to be on the property. • Teak hardwood flooring, cedar shake siding - salvaged from high-end construction jobs. • The wood-clad windows salvaged from a horse farm in the Oregon countryside. • The kitchenette stove/refrigerator sourced from the Hood River History Museum. Instagram: @rusticmoderntiny
We love our walk/bike friendly N. Williams Ave neighborhood - it's been getting a lot of media attention as one of Portland's hottest neighborhoods. You are one block from the main corridor, bustling with award-winning restaurants, bars, coffee shops, wine bars, bakeries, yoga studios, and indie boutiques - it seems there's something new every week. Sunset Magazine loves its “low-key urban vibe", past guests call our neighborhood "awesome", "amazing" and "full of things to do". Our street has even made an appearance or two on the TV show Portlandia.
  • Our hosts were great with emails and texts to make sure we knew all the details for getting in the house. I especially appreciated the list of Favorites they had compiled, with great local things to experience within walking distance of the house.

    Monica2015-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the tiny house. We had a great and comfortable stay. We enjoyed the outdoor space with table and chairs. The location was great (there are restaurants, coffee shops, bars and a grocery store very near... plus, Mississippi Ave - with great shops and restaurants - is a short walk away). We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    Andrew2016-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Jenna's tiny house is beautifully decorated, is equipped with everything you will need, and is in a fantastic location. Their response time was very prompt when needed. Make sure to take a look at Jenna's recommendations for neighborhood activities. Their rental made for a great stay in Portland and I would definitely return again.

    Joel2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Before booking our stay, we asked the owners about the safety of the neighborhood, and we were promised that it was a "totally safe," tucked away in "its own quiet little universe." The listing describes it as "awesome", "amazing" and "full of things to do." However, our experience was quite different. Within 5 to 10 minutes of our arrival, there were several seemingly drunk/drugged individuals stumbling through nearby yards and sidewalks within blocks of this house; we witnessed what appeared to be a drug deal within a block of this property. There was a brand-new house with graffiti spray-painted on the garage. Michael, our host, says he thinks he probably knows these guys, that even under the influence, they are friendly. Maybe so; but Michael wasn't there, and his view is extremely positive and glowing, while our experience reminded us more of the rougher neighborhood we lived in in San Francisco for five years. While we loved our neighborhood, we wouldn't choose to vacation there. With so many positive reviews for both this property and Michael and Jenna, we were really excited for our tiny house experience. Instead, our arrival experience made us question whether Michael and Jenna were telling the whole story. Perhaps our experience is atypical; just the way things were at that moment. In any case, we chose to not stay the night and contacted Michael and Jenna that night to let them know about our experience. Talking with Michael, he says he feels offended by our experience of this neighborhood and has refused to offer even a partial refund for the fact that our experience was so contrary to their description of things. So we've asked him to please better describe the neighborhood so that other customers can at least have a better idea. So far they have refused. So we feel compelled to make sure people understand that this neighborhood is more than its proximity to good food and coffee shops and it's appearances on Portlandia. They could also use words like "social-economically diverse" or "transitional with a mix of new and rundown houses." Michael says that they are willing to weather a bad review rather than to have to make any kind of concession. If this review is bad, it's really not because of the neighborhood; it is what it is and I'm sure people have different experiences of it. If this review is bad it's because of Michael's response to the mismatch between their description and our experience upon arrival. I truly hope our experience is an anomoly, and that Michael and Jenna treat future customers with more transparency, respect and compassion than we experienced.

    Melinda2015-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely little house and in such great little spot within spitting distance of N.Williams ave and a stones throw from Mississippi. We chose to stay four nights in this location before heading downtown for a couple of nights and I'm so glad we did! Portland in general is great but this particular area has everything you could possibly want. We didn't see Michael and Jenna but they made sure we'd arrived safely and were easily contactable with questions etc. The house itself is super cosy, perfect for our Autumnal visit. You can really tell a lot of love and imagination has gone into the creation of the place, particularly liked the plasterers tool disguised as a loo roll holder!

    Liz2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for three days in the tiny house and it was a pleasure. The house has so much character, and the kitchen had everything I needed to make a nice breakfast. We are hoping to build ourselves a tiny house in the future. My sister's house was only a 20 minute walk, so we felt like real Portlanders for three days! We enjoyed the restaurants that were near by, especially the ice cream place! We hope to come back next year!

    Dana2013-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and cozy! Felt like a home away from home. Made my husband and I want to go home and build our own tiny house.

    Olivia2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was great for a long weekend getaway. It is in a quiet neighborhood that is easily walkable to a lot of great bars and restaurants. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and unique stay in Portland!

I'm offering a comfortable clean bedroom in the best neighborhood in Portland. Self check in so late night arrivals are no problem. On all major bus lines. New Seasons market one block away and 20+ restaurants in a 15 block radius. Free street parking. LGBTQ friendly. 3 small dogs live here so if you don't love dogs, this is not the place for you.
I'm offering a bedroom in my four bedroom home on the main floor right next to the shared bathroom. The bed is a comfy queen size. My home has a back porch with a cozy deck for eating breakfast and sipping coffee and a picnic area under the arbor for dinner and relaxing. The dogs can be a bit intense, but Rocky is always down for a head scratch.
Dozens of excellent restaurants within walking distance of the house. Two grocery stores within 4 blocks. Major bus lines will take you downtown in ten minutes. Our neighborhood is quiet and clean in the heart of Portland's biking community. We're also within walking distance to the Aladdin Theater so come see a show while you're here!
  • My friend and I were only in town for one night, but Kara was very good about communicating before our stay and was welcoming and kind during the short time we got to chat while she showed us around. Her place is in a great neighborhood and only a short drive or walk's distance away from some great food joints, bars and shops. Also very close to the bridge to downtown/ west side.

    Ashwini2016-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, Kara was really nice. The room was clean and the bed was comfy.

    Rory2014-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to stay! Both cara abd her cousin were so welcoming and inviting. It was a nice, calm, atmosphere. The little dogs warmed up quickly and we're quiet. The house was clean, cute and easily accessible. The housemates that I did meet were extermly polite and really great at recommending activities and places to eat! Which there are a ton of close by. We really enjoyed our stay. They all get a big recommendation and we hope stay there again in the future!

  • Great!

    Chad2018-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah greeted us and showed us around. We felt welcomed and at ease. The house and room were perfectly clean and the bed was tremendously comfortable.

    Shadia2015-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Kara is a wonderful host. We just spent one night at her place but would've stayed longer if we'd had more time. She was super helpful and let us have her bikes before check in so we could explore the neighborhood already. Great communication with picture instructions on how to open the garage, where to find helmets and locks and the bikes. The rest was as described, very clean and comfortable. I recommend staying there!

    Felix2016-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Kara was an excellent host! I loved her house so much and the neighborhood was great. I highly recommend staying at her house!

Private and Modern. Studio bungalow sleeps three with full kitchen and bathroom. Laundry en suite makes this a great space. Located through a fenced yard. Conveniently located near MLK and a short walk to Killingsworth andAlberta streets.
  • My wife and I enjoyed our stay in Eduardo's guest house so much! Amazing location! Nestled just far enough outside of downtown Portland to feel more cozy away from the hustle. Yet, just a few blocks away from all the great restaurants and quirky fun in the Alberta Arts district. The guest house has everything you need if you just want a restful hub or a full kitchen to cook. There is a Safeway within a short walk which makes it nice if you are wanting to save $$ by cooking. Amenities that were a plus: full washer and dryer (will save you if you get caught in the rainy weather) and the key-less entry. This was so helpful because we were able to come and go whenever without worrying about losing or misplacing a key. Eduardo was super helpful at orienting us to the area as well as providing some recommendations to get outside of the city. Thanks so much for the 5 star experience!

    Erik2018-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Eduardo made our stay a great experience from beginning to end! He was very communicative and allowed us to check in early. His place has all the amenities you can imagine. We loved the style and even the little garden in front. The bed and couch we’re comfortable and we couldn’t ask for more! It was also in a great location. I wish we could have a place like this everywhere we go! :)

    Monica2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Eduardo's property was amazing and had everything we needed. The kitchen was definitely useful for prepping our food for our camping trip right after!

    Michelle2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and modern space. Super relaxing place to stay. Awesome bathroom!! I really appreciated the washer dryer:)

    Emma2018-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Eduardo is a great host. Very responsive. The place is sweet. If it's the right location in Portland for you (NE), I'd recommend.

    Scott2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is my first time visiting Portland - Eduardo's hospitality made this trip wonderful. The location is convenient and space is precious. I'd come back again :-)

    Maggie2018-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Eduardo’s place was awesome, very clean, really nice brand new place, very modern furniture, decoration and excellent location, and Eduardo is very helpful and friendly.

    Jose2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the space and the location! It's very modern and clean. The bed was really comfortable and there were four pillow options so that was lovely. My only suggestions are to bring an eye mask if you want to sleep in because there are no blinds in the large upper window and bring an iPad for music or tv. I will definitely want to stay here the next time I visit Portland - thank you!!!

  • If you're looking to stay in Portland and want the air bnb experience of living like a local, this is what air bnb is all about. Located in a residential street, tucked behind Ed and Sari's house you feel really safe and have the benefits of feeling like a local and so close by to so many cool things Portland has to offer. The home is cosy with all the things you need for a comfortable stay. It was super easy to find and really good communication for how to access the home. The hosts give you all the information you need without intruding but let you know that they are more than happy for you to contact them any time. No fuss and process made really simple! We really loved the area, Hawthorne Street and Division Street are both bustling with cool shops and places to eat, we ate at Papa G's and Harlow - amazing vegan/veggie eateries. The transport links are also great to get into the city, which are nearby. We would definitely stay again when visiting Portland!

    Zena2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very warm and thoughtful hosts. Location fabulous-between Division and Hawthorne near the best restaurants Apt clean as whistle and comfortable

    Joel2016-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Wisteria Retreat. Our hosts we wonderful and gracious. The Hawthorne neighborhood is very beautiful and quite. the Retreat was clean and exactly as pictured on Airbnb and will certainly choose it for our future trips to Portland!

    Thomas2016-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is in a great spot of town, while remaining secluded from Portland madness. Every part of the process was painless, all the amenities were quite modern, and Ed and Sari are more than a dream to deal with. The only reason to not recommend this place would be that it might be booked on my next trip to Portland! Honestly a great place.

    Eric2017-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Short and sweet, probably the all around best Airbnb I've stayed at yet. Location, cleanliness, finished, and amenities. Would highly recommend.

    Chaz2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great retreat close to lots of neighborhood bars, restaurants and coffee shops.

    Jack2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed this neighbourhood and discovering great places to eat on Hawthorne and Division. Transport on bus, Max & streetcar was easy with day passes covering everything. We used them a lot. One of our favourite places was Washington Park but the whole of Portland was a pleasure for us. The apartment provided everything we needed. Thanks Sari & Ed!

This unit includes a separate bedroom, shower, sofa bed in living room and kitchenette/shared laundry room. The kitchenette includes a microwave, toaster oven, hot plate, coffee pot, utensils, and frig. The property includes a fenced backyard that can accomodate a dog. There is an extra $5 per day fee for a dog. The apt. includes ROKU TV with Netflix, HULU and local channels.
The unit can accommodate 3 people. It has a bedroom with a queen size bed and also a pull out sofa large enough for two people to sleep in.
We are conveniently located less than one block from the 224 expressway, for easy access to downtown. We are only 2 blocks from the Milwaukie Shopping Center. We are a quiet neighborhood with plenty of parking.
  • Jonathan is very helpful host. He was kind. It is first time for me to visit Portland. He told me many good place. The room has everything I need. When I come back again, I want to stay here.Thank you Jonathan!

    Aoi2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jonathan's place fit our needs well. He was also a gracious and accommodating host.

    Cristina2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jonathan made me feel very welcome. He is a great hostess, always there to help if needed. Nice little apartment like place. Comfy bed, nice kitchenette with most everything one would need. Quiet neighborhood. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who is transitioning from one place to another, unpack and stay for a minute or two. Or a month. Thank you Jonathan.

    Heidi2015-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Jonathan's Airbnb during a two week transition period on a move from North Carolina to the Milwaukie, Oregon area. Jonathan was extremely helpful in letting me in on good local areas for exercising my dog as well as filling me in on some scenic areas around Portland. The apartment was exactly as expected and was a perfect place to stay while I was searching for housing and interviewing for potential jobs along with my roommate. I loved the fact that it was so close to 224 and the neighborhood he lives in is quite nice. If you are looking to move or just having an extended stay in the Portland area and are looking to save some money, look no further! Jonathan is an excellent host.

    Andy2016-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at Jonathan's place for a month. The place had lots of space, was close to many interesting sights near Portland and is a good value. Guests should be aware that the laundry in the unit is shared with the hosts a few times a week, which was fine with us. The house is a bit old, so we could hear footsteps from above. Also, the A/C was pretty loud, but was only turned on very early in the morning and evening; this may not be good for light sleepers. Nevertheless, we appreciated the extra space and amenities.

    Andriy2016-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Before we arrived, Jonathan kept contacting us for the traffic direction and arriving time. When we arrived, he helped us carry three big suitcases into our room and showed us where the nearest supermarket was. He is very nice and thoughtful. His room is cozy and warm. Highly recommend his place.

    Jingyuan2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. For the price this really is a nice place. We liked the neighborhood a lot for walks. You have your own entrance through the garage. The place even had an iron. Could use a hot plate but other than that we were suoer satisfied. Jonathan always replied really fast if we had a question. As previously mentioned by other guests the washer and dryer are also used by the owner. In our 2 week stay this happened only once so no big deal for us. We were not big fans of the bed but that may have just been personal preference. All in all a great place

    Melanie2017-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay at Jon's cozy apartment. It worked out well for my boyfriend, myself and our cat Tiko. It's a cute space with plenty of room, washer/dryer and kitchenette. Love that you have a full size fridge rather than a mini. Jon is a wonderful and friendly host and lets you enjoy his back patio. Thank you for letting me park in the driveway, that was very sweet! I would definitely recommend staying here. It's great for a solo person, couple or a small group of 3 or so people.

Our newly remodeled, sunny basement guesthouse is your home away from home, walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores and shopping. It has a private street entrance and all the comforts you need for a long or short stay in beautiful Portland, OR. Our place is great for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families with kids, and pets (as long as they aren't prone to eating the furniture).
The newly remodeled apartment is the lower level of our 1909 family home. It is a good sized studio apartment with a street-level, private entrance. You have a full sized bed, fold-out couch, TV with Netflix and Amazon video, fridge, microwave, kettle, and a big bathroom. Although the space is completely private, it is part of our house and you will likely hear us walking around upstairs or the kids playing outside.
One of the things we love about our neighborhood is that it is both residential and urban. There are often kids playing out on the street and all the neighbors know one another and hang out. But, we are also in a city and there are lots of stores and restaurants only a couple of blocks away. It is usually pretty quiet, but sometimes the neighbors will have a party, sirens go by, or there may be a Naked Bike Ride going down the street. We are right in middle of what makes Portland everything Portland is known for.
  • Cozy spot in a great central location! Aimee was very accommodating and the flexible check in/out times are a huge plus!

    Crisanto2017-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place was awesome! Located in a great neighbourhood, it was close to all kinds of bars, restaurants and breweries. Aimee was a great host. Communicated well, and respected our privacy. She even offered to give us a discount if we couldn't make it the first day due to an ice storm. Would certainly recommend this place to anyone.

    Chad2017-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Aimee's apartment is spacious, quiet, clean, cool (Portland was experiencing a heat wave), and comfortable. The apartment is located 5 mins walk from trendy cafes, brew pubs, and great restaurants. If you travel by public transportation, the flat is located near a 'frequent service' line which connects with the Max and Street car system. Aimee is kind and attentive. I would highly recommend staying at her place if you are considering a trip to Portland.

    Lambert2017-07-19T00:00:00Z

  • This was a nice cozy place in a great location. I will mention that I was there in an unseasonably cold week during the winter and the heating (forced hot air from a low ceiling duct) was particularly hard on my sinuses and the temperature could not be controlled from the unit as the heating is connected to the main house.

  • Staying at Sara’s place was amazing! The adorable tiny house is perfectly situated in a great neighborhood that is in walking distance to anything you may need!

  • Prepare yourselves to have your very own home with everything you could think of in the small size, except a bed and shower- those are normal size.

    Andrews2018-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sara's place is one of my favorites. It is a tiny space but not too tiny. Enough space to not feel closed in. The windows allows tons of light in that even when it is rainy there is light. It has everything you need- shower, kitchen, even a bluetooth speaker which makes it a home away from home 100%.

  • My girlfriend and I found this awesome house and took a chance on a spot that had 1 review. The place was amazing and Sara was a great host. Our airbnb was super clean, vibrant and cozy. Highly recommend it!

    Sam2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great place! I loved Sara's tiny home. Great SE location, walking distance to Mount Tabor and Hawthorne Street. Great places to eat! And just a quick drive or bike ride to downtown Portland. It was a perfect place for my husband and I for our weekend getaway.

We offer an elegant, cozy, private guest room with private ensuite bathroom, it's own private entrance and private arbored deck. The carrera marble bath tiles are heated for winters, and the deck and garden have seating areas for summer. Like a little hotel room, this queen-bed suite is ideal for 1 or 2 who would like an entirely separate space, but don't need a full kitchen. The room features microwave, mini-fridge, teakettle & basic flatware - ideal for simple breakfasts or reheated leftovers.
This suite is unique in that it is an entirely private, hotel-room-like space designed for your privacy and independence. The suite is like a little hotel room off of our Southern-facing garden - neither we nor you have access into each other's space during your stay. You enter and leave through your own entrance off of your own arbored deck with cafe table and chairs. This suite is perfect for travelers who, not needing a full kitchen or shared living space, prefer a private and well-appointed bedroom and bathroom to call their own during their stay, with a private entrance and deck that allow for independent check in and check out and all of the amenities that you would expect in a higher-end hotel room, including snacks and refreshments, tea and instant coffee, a microwave, mini-fridge, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, fresh towels and bedding and thoughtful, simple furnishings. The room and deck face south and east, with a lot of natural light and air flow. While some travelers love the unexpected interactions they discover with shared rooms in shared houses, our guest suite offers a bedroom and bathroom accommodation that is simpler than an entire apartment, but with all of the advantages of a totally private space for those that prefer privacy and independence.
Food in our immediate walkable neighborhood is insanely awesome: #1: Ps & Qs Market: Go for lunch or dinner any day, or brunch on the weekends; go early in your stay, because you'll want to return for more. This is a hipster bodega, with a deli case and full kitchen, like a Vermont country store. It's a hit through Portland, and people travel to our neighborhood just to eat there. 5 blocks away. #2: Woodlawn Cafe and Bakery: Super baristas and pastries. Also serving artisanal breakfast and lunch plates until about 5 or 6pm. 3 blocks away. #3: Breakside Brewery: This might be number 1 if you're a beer fan, as it is a famous regional brewery with decent brewpub cuisine. 3 blocks away. #4: Tamale Boy: Awesome and unique Mexican food, specializing in tamales, but with a broad menu. 8 blocks away, and adjoined by a decent gelato place and a funky meed bar. #5: Firehouse Restaurant: Upscale Italian restaurant featuring wood-fired pizza and higher-end Italian cuisine. Might need a reservation, but sometimes walk-ins work. 3 blocks away. #6: The Public House: A unique non-profit brew-pub where your profits are donated to the local charity of your choice. The food is really good overall. 4 blocks away. #7: Good Neighbor Pizza: Basic pizza by the slice and a bar, good for a meal on a dime, or late night (until 2am). 4 blocks away. #8: Woodlawn Farmers' Market: Every Saturday from 10am-2pm, May 21 - October 29. A handful of really fun food vendors with prepared meals that are surprisingly awesome. 3 blocks away. #9: Gram Central Station: Weed is recreationally legal in Oregon; buy a joint, and tell your friends back home about it. Just don't smoke it in your room, of course! :) 7 blocks away. #10: Hat Yai: Radically amazing Thai street food, pretty famous here in town. 13 blocks away. #11: Padna's BBQ: Seriously legit Texas-style BBQ, pretty famous here in town. 13 blocks away. #12: Prospect Bottle Shop: Curated beer, wine and cider to go, plus a little bar with small plates for tastings. 13 blocks away. Additionally, Safeway, Walgreens, Starbucks and Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen are all 9 blocks away, if you're needing to feel that big-box love and restock. We're also a short walk, bike, bus or drive from Alberta Arts District or Mississippi District, but really, the food around our own neighborhood is NICE. People who live throughout North/Northeast Portland come to our neighborhood all the time for food and drink. Alberta Arts district has great boutiques and art galleries (and the food options there are awesome too - our favorites are Boxer Ramen, Bollywood Theater (Indian street food), Salt 'n Straw Ice Cream, Random Order Pie House, Stella Tacos, Barista or Cafe Vita for coffee, Helzer's for Brunch, Tasty 'n Son's for lunch or dinner, Por Que No? for Mexican lunch/dinner/brunch... there are literally too many places to mention).
  • I had a wonderful stay at Michael’s place. It is exceptionally clean and comfortable, with thoughtful touches. I absolutely loved the claw-foot bathtub. It was luxurious to come home to a relaxing bath and the end of a day of sightseeing. I also loved the beautiful yard/garden. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the room offers a mini-fridge, plates/utensils, microwave, and tea kettle for small meals and snacks. Michael’s place is centrally located, and I was able to see the whole city as well at Mt. Tabor, Multnomah Falls, the coast, etc. during my brief stay. Michael offered great restaurant recommendations and responded quickly to all messages and inquiries. It was a pleasure to stay at Michael’s place, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is considering a visit to Portland.

  • Love this awesome little place, especially the style and some little details :) If you are seeking a private suite, this place is definitely what you are looking for. Private entrance and private arbored deck are my favorite part. Also, this tiny space have everything you would need and some little treats. I would love to come back here if I go to Portland next time :)

Buckman is a close in SE Portland neighborhood which is an increasingly popular place to live. The apartment is at the eastern end of the neighborhood. There are parks, a picturesque cemetery, good restaurants, wine bars, craft brewing pubs and the Laurelhurst movie theater, all within walking distance. The #15 bus line runs to downtown on the other side of the cemetery (6 blocks). A little further afield (just over a mile) is the Hawthorne district where there are some off beat shops and more places to eat and drink. Downtown is 2 miles away. The apartment is part of a new build and is situated at the rear of the property next to the garden It is one story up (over the garage) and receives a lot of natural light. It is fully self-contained, all appliances are new which makes self-catering very easy. What it lacks in history it more than makes up for in convenience! There is also ample free street parking directly outside the house. Buckman is pretty close to downtown while still having a residential flavor. It also contains a number of agreeable restaurants, wine bars and brewpubs. Everyday shopping needs such as grocery stores are also well served. Additionally it is pretty easy to get to the major freeways for travel purposes. Buses run to downtown and back a few blocks over.
  • Cara and Roger's place was absolutely perfect! Cara greeted us warmly and the brochure in the very comfortable room explained every nuance, every amenity so that we were thoroughly informed and never needed to ask further questions during our 5-day stay. We would happily stay there again should our travels find us in Portland. Highly recommended! A+!

    Annette And Dick2015-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! The apartment is fresh, clean, and very comfortable. Just as described and high quality. It's so well taken care of it seems brand new. The bed and linens are very comfy. Cara has thought of EVERYTHING you could ever think of. The location can't be beat. Never had a problem finding parking right in front. There were numerous fabulous restaurants within walking distance. We could zip into the City Center in 10 minutes. We would highly recommend this studio to anyone traveling to Portland

    bob2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cara & Roger's apartment was absolutely perfect and you can tell they put a lot of thought into making sure their guests have a comfortable stay. The soft carpeting, comfy bed, and bottle of wine waiting for you on arrival all made for a cozy, relaxing night in on those chilly Portland nights. The apartment has just about everything you need - towels, toiletries, washer/dryer, iron, guidebooks, and kitchen necessities. It is accessible by keypad, which was especially convenient for us since we had to check in very late at night and did not need to wake up Cara and Roger. Ubers to downtown were about $10 each way. My only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer.

    Mike2015-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is beautiful, very private accommodation at a reasonable price Location is in a trendy older suburb with great shops and restaurants. While we walked into the down town area busses are cheap and easily available. It is a huge studio with full modern kitchen, comfortable bed and dining and living space - all almost new. This is one of the best airbnb accommodations that we have had. The hosts have provided all the comforts that one may need. The hosts were very welcoming without being intrusive and communicated promptly prior to our arrival Great stay

    Stephen2014-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. This is a superb studio apartment. Spotlessly clean, fully and thoughtfully equipped, very cosy and comfortable. Felt like a brand-new suite. Located on quiet street in wonderfully funky Portland neighbourhood. I was sorry not to get a chance to meet Cara. I'm sure the studio is a wonderful reflection of her.

    Georgia2014-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic hosts, great space, overall a wonderful experience. We would highly recommend and would stay again!

    Danielle2018-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is outstanding!! My husband and I stayed here for a couple nights, and we absolutely loved it. We so enjoyed all the thoughtful touches and amenities, and found the apartment to be well-stocked, quiet, and in a lovely neighborhood within walking distance to great restaurants and a grocery store. The bed and other furniture were extremely comfy, and the apartment was stylish and well-decorated. Last but not least, Cara and Roger were very hospitable and friendly, and gave us great advice on where to eat. 5 stars!!!

    Bonnie2018-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Cara was very easy to get in touch with and very flexible with our arrival times. She always responded quickly. I had no communication problems at all and she was kind enough to leave a bottle of wine for us :) The studio was a perfect homebase for my visit to Portland with my gf. It is in an excellent location - walking distance to Portland's younger and fresher neighbourhoods and an easy distance to downtown. We drove to/within Portland so cannot comment on the ease of public transport access. However, we rented bikes and were close to many different areas. The studio itself is brand new, with all new appliances and a very comfortable bed, good size bathroom and washer and dryer. I would highly recommend Cara's studio for couples who want a bright, quiet, clean and private space with all the amenities, near to various aspects of Portland's action. The place also has everything you need for cooking, including herbs and spices, oils, salt, etc. We loved the location - if you are looking for a place close to the more "local" neighbourhoods in Portland, this place is ideal. Highly recommend. Would not stay anywhere else in Portland.

This space will make you feel cozy and right at home! A bright and well appointed tiny house located in Northeast Portland. Just steps from some of the best restaurants in all of Portland. The Alberta Arts district is just a few blocks away with cafes, pubs and local shopping. There are unique neighborhood amenities, such as the soaking pool and movie theater at the Kennedy School. For more photos and neighborhood info, visit: @portlandtinyhouse on Instagram.
We put a lot of love into Portland Tiny House. The space includes warm wood flooring, ceramic tiling, modern decor and special vintage touches. The house has a very comfortable Tuft and Needle queen sized bed, bathroom, kitchenette equipped for cooking light meals and cozy counter seating for two. Coffee, tea, fresh eggs and Portland travel guides provided. Need anything else?...just let us know! (2 guests with a small child may sometimes be accommodated)
Guests are a block away from Portland's most popular and notable restaurants: DOC, Beast, Autentica, Dame, Expatriate, Wilder and Yakuza Lounge. The house is within walking distance to the local New Seasons Market and the Alberta Arts District with shops/restaurants/art galleries and the hugely popular Last Thursday monthly arts festival. You certainly won't want to miss all of the wonderful shops and restaurants up on Alberta Street. There are many popular restaurants that often have a line to get in (yes...they are THAT good!) like Pine State Biscuits, Salt and Straw Ice Cream, The Grilled Cheese Grill and the Bollywood Theater. Lots of vegan dining as well: Vita Cafe, Back to Eden Bakery and the Bye and Bye Pub. So many wonderful options, we usually have a hard time deciding what to pick! Just around the corner: Walk a block up to enjoy hand-crafted morning coffee at Extracto or breakfast at Cup & Saucer. Drop in to take a yoga class at The People's Yoga studio. Hunt for fun vintage finds at Red Fox Vintage. Or you can explore the McMenamins Kennedy School: a historic elementary school re-purposed as a hotel (including a movie theater, soaking pool ($5 for a relaxing soak), restaurants and pubs). There are two parks within walking distance from the tiny house, Alberta Park and Fernhill Park. Peninsula Park is also a quick jaunt from the tiny house and it boasts a beautiful, seasonal rose garden that is often less crowded than the well known International Rose Test Garden in the West hills.
  • The Portland Tiny House was great! Duston and Genevieve made the stay easy and welcoming. The Tiny House feels brand new and they have done an amazing job with the place. We can't wait to stay there again!

    Page2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Dustin and Genevieve were great hosts. Everything in the tiny house was perfect. They have easy instructions and left recommendations for places to visit and try. They were extremely helpful and reaponsive if we had any questions and even left some killer IPA welcome beers for us upon our arrival. The location was perfect we actually stumbled across some gems walking distance from their place. The neighborhood was very nice and we were even welcomed by the neighbors!

    Marcus2016-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Duston & Genevieve’s Tiny House is so cute and stunning. You will feel so at home here. It is a very safe area, and nicely situated out of town so you can relax, but only takes 10-15 to get into downtown. We appreciated everything that Duston and Genevieve did and they are amazing hosts! I would recommend them to anyone!!

    Erin2017-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the tiny house. To date, this was the cleanest airbnb we have stayed in and it was so appreciated!! Duston and Genevieve were extremely responsive when we had questions or needed something fixed. Fyi for any future guest who is light sensitive while they sleep, bring a sleep mask, the tiny house gets relatively dark when the blinds are closed, but ambient light does go through them. Other than that, everything else was excellent and we are looking forward to staying here again next time we are in Portland. Thanks Dustin, Genevieve, Tiny House & Chickens!

    Taylor2017-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our short stay in Portland and this tiny house was perfect for what we needed! We also LOVED the neighborhood it's located in.

    Felicia2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Duston and Genevieve are the loveliest of hosts! Their property and neighborhood are everything you could want from your Portland experience. The neighborhood is very up-and-coming and within walking distance of some of Portland's best shops and eateries. Also an easy Uber or car share to Downtown. The Tiny House itself is just adorable. It's decorated beautifully and is so serene. Duston and Genevieve were so sweet - they had cold beer waiting for us upon our arrival and allow you to help yourself to their garden and chicken coop! There is easy, private access to the Tiny House, a little deck for reading, and even a hammock. We can't say enough great things about this place! Definitely would recommend to anyone who wants to have a great Portland experience! We'll be back again.

    Ariane2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Duston and Genevieve's tiny house was absolutely amazing. It was clean, stylish, homely, and super affordable. The decorations are perfect, they provide you with everything you need for a short or long-term stay with dishes, cookware, a stovetop, and even coffee! I highly, highly recommend this place if you're looking to plan a great trip to Portland!

    Josiah2018-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Duston and Genevieve keep a beautiful tiny house which leaves you wanting one of your own! The home has the perfect amount of amenities, definitely all one could want. Lovely 2 br. cottage nestled beside a pond w water feature. Kitchen, open sleeping loft with skylights, bath w shower and washer/dryer. Lots of natural light. Can accommodate an entire family comfortably. Private entry on lg. lot through gated backyard.
Nestled in the back corner of a large lot under the canopy of a beautiful mimosa tree, this private cottage offers a full kitchen with sit-up bar, a full bath with a washer/dryer, and a sleeping loft with crow's nest. It's perfect for a couple, two couples, or a small family.
And all of this just 15 minutes from downtown.
  • Walk into a very serene and private courtyard and enjoy this great space the hosts have created! Excellent communication, well represented space with photos and documented description. My kids loved listening to the rain on the skylights, watching the squirrels out the window. My entire family enjoyed the space, very functional for 4. Even after reading the reviews and comments I was still surprised with how steep the stairs were for the loft. They are not unmanageable but they are steep!

    Owen2018-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • I went Portland with group of 5 people and the cottage is the right size for us. I have a great time while I stayed there. The cottage is very lovely. Jack and Cris are very helpful. I really recommend to stay here while you are visiting Portland!!

    Nidnoi2016-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • The house was amazing. It's a little cottage in the backyard behind the main house. Yard is fantastic. It's loft style- one queen bed in the living room, one upstairs. They provided basic amenities like coffee, which was great.

    Jenny2016-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • My mom and I stayed in the cottage in April. Jack was in the cottage when we said we would be arriving (in the afternoon) making sure that everything was working. He allowed us to check in early since I had an interview I had to prepare for. He showed us how to use various things like the gas stove/fireplace, the electric candles, and showed us the location of the light switches. On the second day there, he left us a bag of wonderful ground coffee to enjoy from his coffee shop. The beds were comfortable, and it was a beautiful weekend to open one of the large doors of the cottage to let in the sun and breeze. Other than our first encounter, Jack and Cris gave us our privacy and we came and went as we liked. The neighborhood was nice and quiet! The only things I would add to the cottage are more cooking utensils and supplies. We did not cook while we were there as we had a short visit, but we usually cook when we are on vacation and it would have been hard with the supplies that were in the kitchen. Other than those few minor touches that I would add, the cottage was a very cool place to stay! The backyard was beautiful, the weather was beautiful, and it was down the street from some amazing restaurants and shops. You are only 3-4 blocks from Division Street, where you can find Salt & Straw ice cream (the sea salt and caramel is the BEST ice cream in the world), Pok Pok food truck (and many other food trucks), and many other wonderful places to eat. Downtown Portland was only a 10-15 minute drive over the bridge. We would definitely stay at the Serene Cottage again the next time we visit Portland. Jack and Cris were wonderful hosts and we had a very peaceful stay!!!!

    Shannon2016-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • A cozy little space tucked away in a great location!

    Michele2018-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A great location and easy access to Portland as well as lots of local eats and brews!

    Susan2018-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is more adorable than the photos. I spent a ladies weekend there with 5 of us - it was cozy, but just big enough. It’s in a great neighborhood and close to tons of restaurants and bars. Jack and Chris are great hosts, easy to communicate with and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

    Tabitha2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • I almost don’t want to rave about its location, amenities and great hosts for fear it will be sold out when i want to visit! They are great hosts and this place is amazing! I’ll be back!

Magic Barn, circa 1936, former sculpture studio restored by community artists with old growth barn wood, up-cycled furnishings, kitchen, claw foot bath, baby amenities, with a sculpture garden. Centrally located in the heart of a charming restaurant and boutique district; 3 blocks to both SE Hawthorne and Division St. 15 minutes to both the airport and downtown, there are 4 bus stops and rental bikes within 3 blocks, and ample street parking on our block. Natural cleaning products only.
Built with Love! Cannabis is legal in Oregon. You are welcome to responsibly smoke tobacco and cannabis outside only. There are many dispensaries within walking distance. We are permitted by the city of Portland to host ten guests total at a time at the Magic Barn and The Magic House which are adjacent. If you are a group of more than two, please send us an inquiry to see if we can accommodate your group. Family amenities are available upon request: portable crib, baby bath, high chair, etc. From 2000 to 2015 the Magic Barn was Todji's sculpture studio. Most of the sculptures in the sculpture garden were designed right here and are exhibited for everyone to experience. When Todji first moved into the main house as a renter, the Magic Barn was just an empty crooked shed with no electricity, water or heat and it was filled with trash. Todji purchased the old neglected rental in 2004 when self-employed artists could get a loan. After fifteen years of restoring the main house, while building a career as a sculptor, Todji and Gisele decided to convert the sculpture studio into a "Magic Barn" to host travelers and guests such as yourself! During the summer of 2015 Todji designed and built the Magic Barn with the talented carpenters and fine art painters Theo Holdt and TJ Ravenwolf. The interior wood siding are salvaged old growth barn planks, and the ceiling is made of the original 1936 rafters and sheathing. TJ’s painting is hanging above the couch. TJ is native American from the Alaskan tribes of Koyukon Athabaskan and Muscogee Creek. TJ collected all of the natural pigments in the painting from all around Oregon in prayer, and his prayer in painting now graces the Magic Barn. Todji and Gisele have taken on the profession of being Airbnb "Artist Inn Keepers" to help support the cultivation of their artistic practices, and to share their creative work with you. Todji and Gisele produce public art bronze sculpture monuments for US cities which you may already have seen, or that you may see one day, please feel free to take a postcard home and visit their sculpture website.
The Magic Barn is centrally located in one of the most charming and hip neighborhoods in Portland. With the center of both SE Hawthorne and SE Division St within 3 blocks, there is an abundance of restaurants, boutique browsing, grocery stores, neighborhood strolling, and park hiking options within walking distance. See a movie, or just step in to witness the beautiful and iconic McMenamin's Bagdad theater, accompanied by an incredible restaurant/bar/pool hall in the back called the "Back Stage Bar", at SE 37th and Hawthorne. It will give you a feel for classic Portland! We are minutes from Mt Tabor park which has a lovely forest with walking trails sitting upon a dormant volcano, and we are 45 minutes to the spectacular 600 foot tall Multnomah waterfall in the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge scenic area. Division is the new up and coming Southeast neighborhood. With lots of modern architecture, new restaurants and shops you will get a feel for the freshest vibe Portland has to offer. Here is a list to get you started: Restaurants: (The options are endless but here are a few popular favorites!) Serving Food Late - Sapphire Hotel at 50th and Hawthorne, Romantic and sexy atmosphere- great for late night drinks and gourmet bar food. Stumptown Coffee Roasters- 45th and Division, Classic Great Portland Coffee Trinket- One block away on Lincoln and 39th, great for Brunch with their locally sourced eggs!) Harlow- 36th and Hawthorne, Hip and Healthy, great for lunch, or fresh veggie juice. Por Que No- 46th and Hawthorne, Wildly popular Mexican with a great playful decor. (Don’t be intimidated by the line, you order at the counter, and then get a seat and your order will be out in no time) Pok Pok- 32nd and Division, There are literally 11 Thai restaurants in walking distance, but Pok Pok is the best. Began as a food cart, but grew into a Restaurant Empire. Worth the wait. Bollywood Theater- 30th and Division, Indian food small plates. Also along line but worth it! Salt and Straw- 33rd and Division, Food Networks top five ice creams! Super Popular! Lauretta Jeans- 34th and Division, Breathtaking Pies! Tidbit Food Cart Pod, 28th and Division, Fabulous food cart selection, lots of seating, including a beer garden and vintage clothing bus. A truly Portland experience. Hiking: The website of "Friends of the Columbia Gorge" has detailed information about many hikes in the scenic and nearby Columbia River Gorge. It is a 45 minute drive from here to enter the gorge. Below are the names of hikes that we love and recommend. Check the website to find a hike with a distance and fitness level that suits you. For those who are visiting the gorge for the first time, I recommend visiting the most spectacular, and also the most touristicated, 600 foot Multnomah Falls. For those who want a challenging half day hike you can begin at Multnomah Falls and hike a loop called the Franklin Ridge Loop. Multnomah Falls /Franklin Ridge Loop Eagle Creek Angels Rest Bridal Veil Falls Triple Falls Wahkeena Falls Groceries, Pharmacy and Shopping: New Seasons- Local Health Food Store (40th and Hawthorne) Fred Meyers- Local Department/Grocery store (Cesar Chavez and Hawthorne) Rite Aid Pharmacy- Drugstore/pharmacy (Cesar Chavez and Division) Powell’s Books- A smaller version of Portland’s famous Bookstore (37th and Hawthorne) Gold Door- Wonderful Imports from around the world (37th and Hawthorne) Enjoy!

  • This was a fabulous place to stay in one of the most walkable friendly neighborhoods. There were shops, restaurants and bars all within a few blocks. Todji and Gisele made us feel so welcome and were very accomodating!

  • this place is exactly as pictured! even more amazing than I could have imagined. it was located in the coolest neighborhood between division and hawthorn, which in my opinion, are the best streets to walk down and find great food and drinks. it was quiet and cozy ...perfect after a long day of exploring Portland. I would def recommend this place to everyone. I'll be back.

  • This was our first time using Airbnb and what an amazing experience! The Magic Barn was adorable and super clean - we miss it already. Todji and Gisele were excellent hosts, I liked the recommendations for local places to explore and the privacy of this place. After this experience, I am definitely using Airbnb again and I definitely recommend the Magic Barn.

  • Such a lovely special place to stay. Super cozy an full of charm. The bed was comfortable, and we had everything we needed. Located close to many shops and restaurants too! We will be back next time we need a place to stay in Portland!

  • The barn is very beautiful, and particularly cosy on a rainy day, with rain drumming on the roof and skylights. This was a wonderful place to stay for a few quiet days of crafting, exploring Portland, and eating delicious food. Highly recommended!

  • What a wonderful little gem! Such a peaceful weekend escape. I would definitely recommend the magic barn— relaxing & quiet but also in the perfect spot to hop on over to Hawthorne for dinner.

  • Roland was amazing, a very good ghost who made sure I felt welcome. He was prompt in responding to any questions I had and helped me whenever I had a problem.

  • Roland is one of the most kind and genuine people that I have ever met. He was super hospitable and quick to respond to all my inquiries. The space was super cozy. Roland's home is near a lot of neat restaurants/ shops on Division and is a short bus ride away from downtown Portland. I would definitely stay here again!

  • It's a nice space--up a short flight on a helix staircase to a spacious loft, and Roland is a great host. Parking is plentiful, and it's walking distance from Division St and public transit.

  • This is a safe, quiet space in a beautiful home. I felt like I had a peaceful nest to myself in the middle of a bustling city. Close to many good restaurants and two bus routes. Host is excellent and kept me informed.

  • It was my first Portland and using Airbnb. I was kinda nervous how it goes... When I met R Roland, my nervousness was gone! He is a wonderful and kind person. He told me a lot of local histories. I really appreciate it and enjoyed conversing with him! His place is amazingly nice and clean even thought it is very historical place!! I had a great time there (nice and safe neighbourhood). Also, it's easy to get a lot of neat places by walk. It's become a long review... :) I highly recommend to stay Mr.Roland's place!!! Thank you.

  • Mr. Roland's place is great. It has good accessibility to public transportation, from/to downtown or airport. And the place is big with your own bathroom. Most importantly, Mr. Roland is very nice and hospitable. He communicated with me many times to make sure my arrival is smooth. Highly recommended!

  • Roland's home is charming and comfortable. The loft space is full of light and fresh air from skylights and a sliding door onto a small balcony. The bed is comfy and the bathroom spotless. I enjoyed his lovely porch and front yard in idle moments. Roland himself is very accommodating, enjoyable to talk to, and eager to provide a pleasant stay.

  • What a fantastic airbnb! Between the awesome purple carpet, beautiful skylights, jacuzzi tub, comfortable bed/space and the perfect, central location... this was one of the best airbnbs I've stayed in! Highly recommend and will definitely check for availability next time I come to Portland!

Penelope left us a complimentary bottle of wine, which was a great bonus for us as honeymooners. The neighborhood was great- -there are several awesome restaurants that are nearby and the house is located in a hip part of Portland. We had our own personal parking spot, and there was a good sense of privacy even though the owners were staying above us. There also were some small snack items, milk, and juice, which helped us get going in the mornings. Penelope also has some interesting music selections via cassette tapes available to guests as well.

Ann and her husband were very welcoming. Staying here felt a bit like staying with family. We liked the neighborhood location and the style of the room and house. They were able to provide an extra bed for our daughter that worked out well. I loved the bathroom with the claw foot tub.
