  • Brenda is great and I really enjoyed staying at her apartment. She is very nice, welcoming and helpful. The room was gorgeous, comfortable and clean and I love how the room and apartment have been decorated. Brenda has also an adorable cute dog and a very quiet cat. The location is also very cool, close to restaurants and in a nice area. I would definitely chose to stay with her again should I be back in San Francisco.

  • Staying with Brenda was a fantastic first Airbnb experience. Her place was lovely and comfortable, and she was great to talk with and very laid back. Boo and Moomoo were excellent hosts as well! The location was as convenient as I had hoped. I'd definitely stay here when back in SF!

  • Brenda was great host; welcoming, helpful, and fun. We had several interesting conversations and she offered some great tips on places to see and restaurants to try in area. She has a beautiful, comfortable place in a perfect location for exploring the Mission, Lower Haight, and Castro. I'd highly recommended staying with Brenda while you're in San Francisco.

  • I really enjoyed staying with Brenda and getting to chat with her. Upon arrival, she had left me a map of the city as well as a list of some local spots to check out. I didn't get to visit all of them, but I hope to go back and try the rest. Her place was clean and quiet, and I enjoyed the time I spent there. I'll definitely consider her availability first the next time I'm visiting SF.

    Marc2011-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda was awesome and her apartment even more so (maybe). It was the perfect size for me and located in a great area. You will love staying here!

    Kayleigh2012-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • By far my best Airbnb stay to date! Where to start? The apartment itself is magnificent, oozing an old, San Franciscan charm . The bedroom was spacious, with an incredibly comfortable bed and curtains which could black out the brightest of days. The kitchen and bathroom were both large and fully equipped to do whatever your heart desired. Location-wise the apartment is incredibly close to Castro street, only a few blocks away, with lovely shops and restaurants scattered about, the closest restaurant being a literal stone's throw away. Brenda is the most marvelous Airbnb host I have ever encontered. Her communications were incredibly clear regarding checking in, and her tips about town were spot on. Brenda went beyond the call of duty of an Airbnb host and was one of the most welcoming people I've ever met, making me feel like a part of the household there. If you're traveling alone and wanting to stay near the Castro neighborhood then this is the place to stay, you won't regret it. I'm already planning my next trip back.

    Thornton2013-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Brenda's place was great, besides the location could not be better. I loved the Castro area and it is also near Mission which more than a plus. She is nice, attentive and ready to help you, she is someone prepared to receive hosts, she has all the maps, ideas and a list with restaurants near by her place, some are great. I just loved her pets, her dog is so sweet, so sweet! I had a great time in San Francisco and at Brenda's place if you are traveling to San Francisco a truly recommend staying at Brenda's place.

    Patricia2014-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda was so kind and welcoming! Her place is perfectly located and I was able to find plenty of places to hang out/eat around the neighborhood. This was my first time in the city and Brenda made me feel at home and made sure I was okay. Would definitely love to stay here again in the future.

  • Mike and Nics' place was the perfect way to experience San Francisco. The Studio is even more impressive than the posted pics. My wife loved it (She's the picky one) and my girls called the fanciest "hotel" they've been too. The 24 bus is just down the block and connects you to most of the rails and others lines. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay for our first AIRBNB experience. Mike and Nic were very accommodating and cool. Very easy to talk to. We stayed only 3 nights. We weren't sure how my 4yr was gonna handle the time away from home (Her first long trip). Wish we stayed longer because she loved the studio and was sad when we had to leave. You can't go wrong. This place is great!

    Robert2012-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • The place to be in SF for sure ! Amazing location in SF, between the Airport and the city centre, near the best city view of SF (bernal height) ! Nice host, Mike was here in case of ... but nothing happened :) All was great !

    Arnaud2014-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Studio was a great place to stay during our trip. It had everything you can need. There are plenty of great places within walking distance and it is close to a bus stop, just down the hill. Also, the studio is next to Bernal Heights park which has great views of San Francisco. Mike and Nic were great host. They are very friendly and accommodating and I definitely recommend them.

    Matthew2013-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely. Very comfortable and in an excellent location. We enjoyed our stay very much!

    Alison2015-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Mike and Nic's studio was great. The place is wonderful and even though we were there during winter, we felt cozy and warm and we were happy to be able to make our breakfast and some light meals there. We met Nic for the checkin and email exchange was always very prompt. We would definitely recommend to stay in this place, as living in Bernal Heights is a great way to see a different side of San Francisco.

  • Pictures of the apartment say it all! Roomy, comfortable, good location on corner, parking available on street, easy access to bus and Highway 101 into the city. Loved the cold beer (and non-alcoholic cider) waiting for us in the fridge. Great spot Nic and Mike!

    George2013-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mike is a very welcoming and helpful host. His apartment is very nice, cosy where all the details are prepared to make you feel at home. The area is quiet, very pleased, next to a park. It takes about 15min by bus to go downtown so it's perfect when you like to stay a bit far from the crowd.

One bedroom sanctuary with a beautiful garden view and cozy fireplace. Comes with it's own entrance just steps from bus lines, train and all that Haight Street has to offer. Complete privacy with a separate bedroom, bathroom, and breakfast bar.
If you want to be within walking distance to Golden Gate Park, Haight St, Buena Vista Park, and Cole Valley, this is the spot. Full size bed in the bedroom with 400 thread count sheets and a pull-out twin in the living room. Just installed fireplace and large screen tv makes hanging out fun in the comfortable living room. Bathroom has a shower within the tub and white fluffy towels.
You will hear from many that this is the best neighborhood in SF. I chose this area for the many Victorian homes, the ease of mass transit, the walkability, and the abundance of parks, restaurants, and nightlife nearby. As a recent transplant to this area I can tell you that the stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and pubs are great here. I forget I have a car most of the time! Street parking is easy except for Wednesday 8-10 due to street cleaning.
  • This property is very attractive and very nicely situated near Haight, as portrayed in the photos and described. Sara was very attentive in communication with me, and nicely had a bottle of wine along with chocolates as a warm welcome. There were two formidable issues that arose during the stay that ought to be noted: 1) My adult daughter stayed with me the first night (Friday), and I confirmed with Sara that the pull out would be suitable for her. That night was awful, as the insulation between ceiling and apartment is very flimsy and Sara's daughter was entertaining until after 2 am. It was impossible to sleep and I had to call Sara after that, upon which sound gradually diminished. Rugs need to separate the floors, and/or stricter rules on that kind of commotion really needs to be enforced, given the premium the apartment commands. 2) Pullout is very uncomfortable (springs and flimsy mattress), and even my daughter could not really abide by it. Her sleep was severely disrupted by both this and the commotion, and it placed a distinct damper on the visit. I had communicated prior to visiting as to whether the pullout was suitable for a person, and was reassured that it was. I am sorry to report these circumstances, as I think Sara is a gracious host. Second night, on my own sans daughter, was fine.

  • We had a fabulous time in the garden flat. It's in a great location, a minute from Haight Street. The flat is lovely, small, perfectly done out and we loved meeting Bo the dog! We were made to feel really welcome and would definitely stay here again next time we are in San Francisco.

  • Sara was a great host! She was very responsive and we enjoyed trying out recommendations from the binder she left us. The apartment was bright and clean and even better than the pictures! Location was in walking distance to many parts of the city. It was the perfect place for us to stay!

    Alan2016-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Sara's beautiful place! First of all she was lovely, very nice when we met. So was her dog! We immediately felt at home. We stayed for 3 nights and in turned out to be a perfect base to explore the city. Public transport close by and lots of great places to eat at walking distance, just a couple of blocks away. The surrounding area is great + felt very safe. The place was beautifully decorated and the bed was great. We would definitely recommend Sara's place to anyone traveling to San Francisco!

    Sonja2015-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sara's gorgeous place was perfect for our first time, 4 night stay in SF. Nice and central. Only a short stroll to Haight-Ashbury shops, cafes and grocery stores. Welcome booklet with a heap of local info. WIFI and access to laundry. The cosy fireplace was amazing. Comfy bed! Super clean and quiet. Sara was so lovely and made us feel so welcome. We always received prompt replies to messages. She went out of her way to greet us after a late flight change. We really appreciated her local tips.

    Sangeetha2015-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in Sara's garden retreat. It was exactly as described and the pictures are true to life. It is a lovely, lovely apartment. The location was perfect for us too. Loads of amazing houses to admire (just like in the movies), breakfast at the cool coffee houses on Cole, then an easy bus ride to any of the key tourist attractions in San Francisco. Sara made us feel very welcome at the same time as giving us space to come and go as we pleased. I would thoroughly recommend staying here.

    Catherine2015-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • My host made me feel very welcome. She was ready and waiting for my arrival. The apartment was fresh, clean and easy to move right in. The neighborhood met all of my expectations and beyond. It is lovely and fun to stay in the Haight. I was in San Francisco for work and to visit family. Sara's place was perfect for me.

    Gretchen2015-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sara was very helpful both in helping me get settled and in dealing with a problem that my daughter had, in spite of it being fairly late when this arose. To me the photos made it look bigger than it is so it was adequate but not exactly roomy. I didn't really focus on the fact that there was a toaster oven not a microwave so the ability to cook anything was more limited than I was expecting.

Private entry, sidewalk-level suite of living room, kitchen, bedroom and bath with artful touches in 1911 Edwardian. Close to beaches, GGate Park, GGate Bridge, groceries, cafes, restaurants on city-wide trolly line for memorable vacation/business/retreat. Easy drive to Marin.
The private sidewalk level suite, is clean and comfortable with original windows and doors providing natural light and fresh air. It's San Francisco living so you can be sure to hear the sounds of a trolley passing by and footsteps from people in the flat above. SF STR permit number (4 zeroes) 949
We live in a friendly neighborhood with cafes and restaurants, and are perfectly situated to walk or take local transportation to nearby visit museums. Step out the yellow door and there are walks through wooded trails to Baker Beach, the Golden Gate Bridge, Land's End, and Ocean Beach -- to the Legion of Honor Museum in Lincoln Park, the DeYoung Museum and/or the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, with its lakes and beautiful gardens of the Arboretum. If you prefer to sidewalk explore, it's fun to walk down Clement Street from 25th Avenue to Arguello, stopping in at the pubs and Chinese restaurants (little Chinatown) -- head a bit further to Fillmore Street, or take the full journey on the California 1 trolley (electric bus) - 7 miles to the Ferry Building (about a 2 hour walk) through the distinctly different neighborhoods that make San Francisco such a great place to visit and live. If you are looking for a movie and dinner -- Pizetta 211 and the Four Star Theater are just around the corner. There's something for everyone.
  • Dennis was a fantastic host! The listing was very cute and cozy. It was exactly what we were looking for. Dennis was very accommodating to my girlfriends and I! We had a few changes in our plan and we had a few house key mishaps and Dennis was very polite and forgiving:) Dennis and wife gave us our space, which was nice:) The location of the listing was great...very safe and quiet! And a quick Uber or Lyft ride away from all the shopping and attractions. I would definitely recommend this listing to others!

    Kenzie2015-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a charming studio! It has everything you need. My partner and I stayed here for a week and it suited us perfectly. There is a lovely bakery right on the corner (delicious pastries), walking distance to public transport that will get you to downtown within 30 minutes. One and two streets over from loads of restaurants and food markets. Bakers beach is a lovely beach only a 10 minute walk where you get a lovely view of the Golden Gate bridge. Everything you could possibly need is within walkable distance. Check in and out was a breeze. Only thing slightly negative is there is a fair bit of noise that comes from above when you're in the bedroom. This didn't affect me but my partner is a light sleeper and it woke him up a few times. I personally loved the heated mattress topper. All in all I think this place was GREAT!

    Charlotte2016-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable, cozy, charming, spotless, — all adjectives describing Dennis’s place. Quiet neighborhood, well laid out entry and departure. Delicious corner cafe.

    Olivia2017-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really nice stay at this apartment. Everything you need is provided. You hear no decisive traffic noise, because the apartment isn´t located directly next to the street. There is a hallway leading to it behind the yellow door. It is a cellar apartment so it is a little bit chilly, but that is actually quite nice for your sleep. Just take with you a pullover and some warm socks. You need it anyway in San Francisco :) We ordered a shuttle van service from SFO directly to the apartment some days before we got there. That worked very well. You can order both one way and return tickets. You can pay tips already when you pay the tickets. We used: (Website hidden by Airbnb) Right on the other side of the street, you will find a local market. And in front of it the bus stop. The California 1 line drives directly to downtown and it is really easy to find out of the public transportation system. Very short distance to Baker Beach and Golden Gate Park and Bridge. I think this place had a perfect location for those who are interested in seeing more than just downtown SF. The neighborhood is very charming. And the internet works fine. If you have some questions, Denis will answer very quickly. Both of them were very helpful and nice. We recommend to stay at this place, we had a really wonderful time in SF!

  • Where to start. Word association. Amazing. Perfect. Quaint. This listing is exactly as described. If you're after Hyatt type 5 star. Maybe not for you. If you're at stylish, super cute, tastefully decorated and quiet neighborhood then jump on board. Dennis's recommendation of Pizzeria 211 was spot on. Great tucker.

    Trevor2016-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place tucked away in West San Fran. Dennis was easy to communicate with the entire time. Enough space to feel worth it, and cozy enough to feel far from the city but smack dap in the middle. Easy transit to downtown by the California bus that connects to the rest of the city. Easy access to Lands End or Baker Beach. A great coffeeshop and eateries are right outside the front door. If you have luggage to stoy before check in, it might be a hassle, but there are places downtown. We stored our bags at a separate Airbnb for the day while we traversed the city.

    Brian2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • STAY HERE!! Dennis and Nancy were the most amazing hosts and the pictures do not do the apartment justice. The listing is accurate. The apartment was very welcoming and clean with clean blankets, towels, toiletries etc. The only thing I would point out to future guests is that it IS a basement apartment, so once you get past the yellow door you do have to walk through a small hallway (that is lit and decorated) until you arrive at the bright blue door that says "Welcome!" on it in chalk (we LOVED this touch!) Of course, the basement hallway did not bother us at all but just wanted to point out for those more high maintenance travelers out there. I would describe this apartment as quaint, lovely and decorated in a european style. Having traveled around Europe a lot we actually prefer smaller spaces that feel like home over those giant cookie cutter hotel rooms with way too much space, so this apartment was absolutely perfect. We went in Feb so it got a little chilly in the basement at night but there's a heated bed that you can control, as well as a great space heater the hosts provide. You can hear some noise from upstairs since, as I stated, it is the basement, but we did not mind it all! The neighborhood was more than we could've asked for and Dennis and Nancy left us maps of the neighborhood that had interesting spots and restaurants that they actually hand marked on it! There's a café two homes down and a grocery story right across the street. While not downtown the bus does stop right in front of the apartment (just make sure you have cash for the bus), it's an easy find for Lyft and Uber and you can walk everywhere. As a young woman I felt 100% safe in this neighborhood and in the apartment. They also left us a cellphone number with instructions to text if we got lost which was so kind. The kitchen is FANTASTIC. There's a hot plate that my boyfriend and I used to cook every day. In case you're questioning the legitimacy of the hot plate we were able to cook delicious chicken on it - it works great! Very cute outdoor private patio area - great for morning coffee. Staying at this listing made our trip 100x better than we imagined and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice time in this city. If we go back we will only stay here. Thank you Dennis and Nancy!!!

    Sheila2016-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Dennis' place. A great apartment with all you need. Very clean and well done. In a lovely quiet residential area with the bus stop right outside making it easy to get about the city. Dennis is a great host and offers great advice and info for your stay.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Jeffreys & Mikes place. It is very much according to fhe pictures. Very clean, and in good condition. It's very central to restraunts, cafes, bars. Across the street is big grossery store. So easy to have breakfast, lunch and dinnner. Its also close to public transport or to use the cable car. It might be little difficult to park your car, you can always find places a couple of blokes away. They are free of charge between 16 in the afternoon and 10 in the morning, but during the day you can only use them for two hours. There is a public parking space next door, but it is quite pricy during the day. We where staying three days, and used an app "spotonparking" to find the most vaubule and best parking for us. Finally we very much liked the information before our stay, informative and quick response. We had a couple of small talks with Jeff and Mike, they are very nice abd friendly We highly recommend at stay at their nice place in an vibrant, lovely neighbourhood.

  • Amazing room! Central to everything in SF

    Anthony2016-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Upon arrival, the hosts immediately let us into the room and took the time to offer food suggestions, suggestions on nearby parks, and more. All recommendations were great! The room itself was very clean and the bathroom was the nicest Airbnb bathroom we've stayed in yet. The room had a nice breeze from the windows being open and came with a sound machine that was great at night. The area itself was perfect for walking around, had great food options and tons of shops right down the road. You really can't beat the location and on top of that how nice the room and private bathroom were! Would easily stay again if we were to come back to SF.

    Ian2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • I truly enjoyed my stay at Jeffrey's place. My room was clean, spacious, modern and quiet. Loved the modern bathroom and high ceilings. Bedding and towels soft! Location is great--boutiques, cafes, good eats right out the door. Only issues-- parking is a challenge (but that's SF) and stairway to bedrooms is very steep. Fine for me, but problematic for elderly or disabled. All in all a great place and I would stay again.

    Lisa2015-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This home is perfect for exploring San Fran from a local's perspective while still laid back. Quiet neighborhood yet a block from so many Bay favorites. Private, clean room & the greatest shower you'll experience in an AirBnb! Felt like a better experience than any hotel could offer -- thanks so much.

  • BEST AIR BnB! We had a great time staying here! The room was just what we needed for our trip. The bathroom is beautiful. It was close to great food and the bus that we used everyday. Jeff had great recommendations for food that did not disappoint. If you are looking for a room to rent this is it!

  • Jeffrey was very nice and met me with a smile when I arrived at the listing. He was very helpful with recommendations for food and fare in the area. The property was well located in SF, clean and very inviting. Thanks!

Relax around the fire pit on the private patio at this garden Craftsman studio. Smooth concrete, edison bulb lighting, and chunky furniture create an industrial look, while the open-plan layout keeps things relaxed and comfortable.
This studio promises to absolutely take your breath away upon first sight. Cool and romantic, carefully decorated and recently renovated by master architects; the space gives you plenty of room to breath while still retaining a sense of invigorating calm. Abundantly spacious with the addition of our beautiful back garden and shack - this home guarantees the stay of a life time.
The Outer Richmond holds all of the excitement of San Francisco while retaining a low-key feel. Nowhere else has unique and delicious eateries, a surfers' beach, museums, parks, hiking, and historical sites all within close walking distance.
  • The place is really nice, however I didn't realize it was in a basement with people living upstairs so we had to be quiet by 10 o'clock and you could hear everything both ways. The place was lovely but just didn't suit our needs as well as planned.

    Jenny2017-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I loved our stays at Josh's home. The apartment was beautifully decorated and more than enough space for the three of us. The apartment had plenty of linens, a full refrigerator (which came in handy for leftovers), and a great shower. Josh was quick to respond to text messages and gave us some great suggestions for restaurants in the area. The location was great, very close to the beach and a short trip to the see the Golden Gate Bridge. We knew it was a bit of a drive from downtown but that was fine for us. We would recommend to any friends looking for a place to stay in San Fransisco. Thank you Josh!

    Crystal2016-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was great experience for me and the family. We have a lot of fun.. The place was perfect!

    Donato2016-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend this listing, although there were some pros of this experience. The host, Joshua, was so nice, polite, and responsive. The space was beautiful and looks exactly like the pictures. I appreciated the amenities like the full size fridge, the microwave, and full kitchen. However, I cannot say that I enjoyed my stay here. What is not described in this listing is how paper thin the floors are. This listing is a basement unit and you can hear EVERYTHING happening upstairs and this is not an exaggeration. There were cats upstairs and the floors were so thin I could literally hear even the cats walking around upstairs. You can hear full conversations, and footsteps sound like actual stomping in high heels. We heard non-stop pacing and stomping starting at 7AM and going past 11PM. My companion is quite a deep sleeper and even he was woken up during the night by the noise. Noise was a constant and daily issue. We were woken up at 2AM one night, 4AM the next night, and another night at 1AM. Trying to deal with the noise was especially painful since we were adjusting to a time zone difference, so when the stomping didn't cease until 11:30 PM, it was actually 2:30 AM for us. We did not have a peaceful stay at all, and at times we left the unit just to escape the noise. Location is ok, but not great. This is a quiet neighborhood but there is not much to do around here other than Ocean Beach/Cliff House/Sutro Baths, which can all be done in a few hours. Most of the touristy spots/sightseeing is on the other side of the city so I spent a good amount of money on ubering to the other parts of the city. This was my first airbnb and if I could do it all over again, I would have booked a hotel instead. A majority of hotel prices in SF are cheaper than what I paid here, and in a more convenient part of town. Best of all, I'm sure I would have at least had a restful night's sleep.

  • Great place! Well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed. Public transportation was close by and easy to use.

    Ross2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great. Decor was chic and homey. Had everything I needed and could easily accommodate another guest...even 3! Hosts were accommodating with check in time and appreciated their flexibility and communication. Highly recommended

    Sarah2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Joshua and Lizzie could not have been a better host! We were welcomed with homemade cookies waiting for us at the kitchen table. This made my arrival even sweeter (pun intended). Any question we had was answered on a extreme superb timely manner. Above all the studio was tastefully decorated, clean and certainly spacious. Thank you for having us! I will certainly come visit San Fran again and hope I will be granted to stay with you two again. Already referred your place to a dear friend :)

  • Great place to stay! Very nice neiberhood, a few block of the golden gate park and the beach, supermarket and easy to take the public transport. The house has all the basics and it's a really good place to get to after a long day! And Joshua was a great host!

  • Blairs apartment was in a beautiful area, was magnificently decorated and we had a truly superb stay!

    Mike2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Blair's condo is absolutely beautiful! It's located in one of the prettiest neighbourhood's of SF, it's quiet, very well decorated, equiped for making your own meals. We felt like home there and could see ourselves settling down in that kind of lifestyle! Shops are a few blocks down but you need to be a good walker ! Alot of steep streets to get to bus stops, grocery stores etc Perfectly located for siteseeing around SF, pretty central. Blair is very available to anwser your questions which is very helpful & nice. Overall I definately recommend staying in Blair's condo!

    Clothilde2014-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Blair was fantastic at making us feel at home. Anything we needed was just a text or call away. The apartment was exactly as described and in the best location you could ask for. We walked almost everywhere with no problem.

    Steve2015-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • The location was perfect, close to Union street where there are good restaurants and shopping. A quick walk to the Hyde street trolley line. The house was beautiful, very clean and felt like home. We felt at home when we were there, better than a hotel. The patio is fantastic for a nice meal or a glass of wine while you wind down from the day. We definitely will stay here again when we are back in the city, it was a beautiful home!

    Naomi2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay!! This place is beautiful and the location is awesome. Blair was very helpful and easy to communicate with. We wore ourselves out sightseeing all day and it was so comforting to come "home" at the end of the day and feel right at home. This was our first experience with Airbnb and I'm glad it was, certainly recommended.

    Josh2014-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved Blair's lovely place! Location was perfect for the wedding event we hosted, and the communication with the hostess was consistent, prompt and helpful. The neighborhood was as stated, safe, and beyond, ritzy! We highly recommend this space. We managed to find parking spaces and a nice grocery was within walking distance. Thanks Blair (Website hidden by Airbnb)

    sandy2015-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful apartment! Just like the photos. Perfect location for exploring the sights in SF and close to Fillmore's many restaurant and shopping options. Would definitely stay here again! Communication with Blair was always quick and reliable.

  • Our first Airbnb experience was great. The house was beautiful. And the neighborhood was within walking distance to so many great shops/restaurants. It was fun staying outside of the hustle of Union Square. Would highly recommend this property.

30 day min. Parking space fits compact car only. Whip up a tasty brunch at the tidy, fitted kitchen in this modern studio. Expansive windows grace the stylish, neatly arranged layout with plentiful light.
Our studio includes parking for a compact, midsize, or entry-level luxury car. If your car doesn't fit (SUVs won't fit) you'll need to use street parking, which is metered, or pay for parking at a nearby garage. Check-in time depends on the day of the week. Absolutely no smoking is permitted in our studio. We also appreciate if guests avoid using strong perfumes/colognes while staying at our studio. This modern studio is located in one of SF's newer buildings. It has light brown floors, brand new furniture, and includes wifi and a 39 inch flat screen TV which streams Roku, Amazon Prime, Netflix and over 60 local channels. In addition to the everyday essentials expected in a modern home (heating, oven, fridge, etc), a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, iron, blow dryer and a washer/dryer are included for your convenience. Our unit is extremely quiet; excellent for getting a good night's rest on a cozy queen size bed. The building's common areas are monitored around the clock for your security. The entrance to Highway 101 - southbound (to the Peninsula) and northbound (to the East Bay) - is 4 minutes away. We can provide a twin -size blow-up bed upon request, in the event 3 guests want to sleep on separate beds.
The building is located in the town center near the SF Civic Center, varied nightlife options, and tourist attractions. It’s just a few blocks from classical lures including the San Francisco Opera and ballet.
  • I spent a month in this apartment. It's a great place - beautifully furnished, very clean, quiet, bright (it's a corner apartment, so lots of light!), and easy to make it feel like your own. So nice to have a washer and dryer and parking available if you need it. It's in a pretty central location and quick to get to most places. I was a little nervous being right next to the Tenderloin, and while it's still not my favorite neighborhood, there is a lot to offer and I never felt unsafe walking around. It's close to some great restaurants and theaters. Graciela and Carlos were very prompt in responding to any questions or issues I had and were great to rent from!

    Margaret2017-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • I loved the location of this apartment and the quiet of it. I stayed here for over a month and was very happy. Graciela greeted me the first day and explained everything and later attended quickly to the toilet which was running all night about two weeks in to my stay. She was responsive and helpful. I totally recommend this place.

    TODD2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Graciela's studio was clean, new, and very comfortable. I lived here with my partner for four weeks between our move from Denver to the Bay Area. It was a lovely place to call home for a few weeks. Graciela was very accommodating with my check in given that I arrived from Denver with four suitcases before my check in time. While we were there, SF experienced some seriously hot days and she graciously purchased a fan for us during that period. The studio is in the Tenderloin which has a reputation for a reason but I felt safe during the day but rarely ventured off at night when I imagine things get a little seedier (Graciela equipped the tv with Netflix so why would I leave...). Thanks for a great stay, Graciela!

    Jenna2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • A great cozy apartment-modest and modern and just as described in the photos. Land lady is good and responsive. Me and my husband had a lovely stay and will definitely be back in our next visit.

    Evangeline2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed almost 1 month and a half in their apartment. The apartment has excellent furniture and the layout/furnitures are very well thought of. The neighborhood is very quiet and close to the Civic center. I would definitely rent again from Carlos and Graciela!

    Karim2017-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • A really convenient, clean, and quiet place in the heart of the city. Plus parking! I'll definitely stay here again.

    Dave2016-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Carlos' place is amazing. It's clean, comfortable and most importantly really well equipped. I did not have to worry about getting around too. Buses around the area to downtown are fairly frequent. I liked it that they prepped the place well before my arrival with shampoo, soap, dishwashing detergent, cooking oil and i do not have to worry about such essentials upon arrival. A Walgreen's is in the ground level of this building. Overall loved it and would come back to stay.

Mingle and share with fellow travelers in an environment rich with experience.
You will be sharing this space with me and other Airbnbers! Three other private rooms are listed in addition to this one and the space is a tranquil retreat for travelers alike.
In town you can hear music at various venues every night of the week and the renowned Frank Lloyd Wright Civic Center is a 5 minute drive away. San Francisco is only a 20 minute drive South and Sonoma, the wine country, is 30 minutes North. The beach town of Bolinas is an hour away and is a scenic drive or bus ride to the coast. There are many hiking and biking trails close by with beautiful views including one just at the end of the street around a scenic, bridged island surrounded by a waterway. The immediate neighborhood is quiet and friendly and enjoyable to stroll.
  • The place is clean and beautiful, Mathias had perfected hosting and has four rooms filled every night. The 1.5 bath worked out well, we had different schedules, no lines. Kitchen is well equipped and Mathias is very friendly. I'll stay here again when I come to the Bay Area.

    Marta2015-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mathias is a very nice host. He keeps the whole house pretty clean which I really liked. No wonder why the guests keep staying at his place frequently. He solves any issues the guests have. For example, I moved to San Rafael as I had to start my new job there and wanted to stay for a little longer. Although there was no room available for the entire duration, Mathias accepted my request of switching rooms and I was able to stay there until I rented my apartment there. He provides in-house laundry and all the supply with so it would be very convenient if you'd like to stay for longer. All in all, a great place to stay and I'd definitely suggest my friends if they want to visit San Rafael.

    Pranav2015-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Mathias place was very nice and chilled! The room was perfect- very clean and so comfortable! Mathias was very nice let us feel very welcome!!! :D

  • Mathias was a great host! Very laid back and accommodating, and had some great tips for things to do in the area. The room was clean, comfortable, and exactly as advertised. I would definitely stay here again!

    Kira2015-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Mathias has a lovely home in a great neighbourhood. We felt safe and comfortable here. The location itself is a little far out from San Francisco but we had a car so were able to get about. The public transport isn't great from this far away so we would recommend a car for sure. The room itself was light and airy with plenty of space for what we needed. We had to share a bathroom which was on the other side of the property but this wasn't a huge inconvenience. There are other guests staying here as there are several rooms but you can lock your room when you are not around. Everyone we met was very friendly and polite. We did not meet Mathias until the next day as he was out so one of his other guests actually helped us with the wifi and getting in. When we did meet Mathias he was helpful too with other questions we had. Overall this is a great place to stay if you need a nice neighbourhood away from the city and want to come and go as you please.

    Emma2015-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay! Sharing an airbnb with 4-6 other guests wasn't a problem at all. Although I wouldn't recommend staying in this area if you're visiting San Fran without a rental car!! Thought we could use public transportation but the busses wouldn't let us bring our suitcases so we had to take an expensive uber. We got lucky we had some amazing other airbnb guests who kept taking us in their rental car afterwards!

    Leonie2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mathias is one of the best host I have ever met! He was super friendly with us and we had a nice time together in Frisco! Moreover his apartment is perfect: clean (you can not imagine it is super clean!) and the beds are comfortable. Thanks for everything!

A 30 minute drive over the hill to Stinson Beach and Mt Tam. Perfect spot for hikers and an easy commute to San Francisco.
  • My sister and I stayed at Mary's private studio apartment for 2 days, and it was absolutely perfect. It was only a short 10 minute drive to Mt.Tamaplais for us to hike in the morning, and then a short ten minute walk down the Dipsea Stairs into Mill Valley for dinner at night. The house was clean, the shower was hot (great after a long hike), and Mary was very responsive if we had questions or needed anything. I'll definitely come back again.

    Dan2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Mary and her family were lovely hosts, and they live in an absolutely beautiful area! The studio was spacious and Muir Woods and the town of mill valley were only a few staircases and hiking trails away. It was very quiet, even though we stayed on Halloween. It all worked out well, nothing but positive feedback.

    Brett2015-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at this studio for about two weeks and I would definitely choose to come back again! Mary was such a kind host, and I could tell that she genuinely cared about whether I was enjoying my stay. The studio, which looks just like the pictures, was really pretty and spacious! It was also very clean, updated, and well-maintained. It's in a great location as well - close to downtown, grocery stores, takeout, etc. Additionally, I stayed here in December so Mary had put a cute little poinsettia plant right outside, which was a really cute touch :)

    Christina2015-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a wonderful couple of days at Mary's lovely AirBnB nestled in Mill Valley. She was a great host, the place a lovely walk from both downtown Mill Valley and Muir Woods along the dipsea trail. The studio is equipped with a basic kitchenette, TV with entertainment, and useful maps and local guides. Mary is gracious host who was easy to get in touch with and gave us all the privacy. Overall a great stay!

    Mayuri2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was wonderful! The space was amazing. The description of the space was perfect. We felt so relaxed and content. You are literally hugged by beautiful redwoods. It is a very peaceful and quiet location that truly gives you a chance to unwind and enjoy.

    Kate2016-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's place was absolutely everything we could have wanted. The location was perfect and we could not get enough of the stunning scenery all around us. Waking up in the redwoods and being only a few short miles from both beaches and incredible mountain views made our stay unforgettable. Coming back to the studio at the end of the day to be greeted with such comfy beds was definitely another plus. We will definitely be back.

    Megan2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Quite, comfortable, studio in a unique location if you wish to explore the Muir Wood and surrounding areas (walking distance!). Mary is a very nice host. Nice parking spot.

You'll love this large sunny space with a small deck overlooking the (partial) view of the bay. PLEASE NOTE: The available BR is a large living/dining room separated from the rest of the apt by a privacy curtain. The “Sleep Number” queen bed allows for separate individual comfort control for each side of the bed. The twin sofa bed sleeps a third guest; a fourth guest (5'5" or less) can sleep on the adjacent comfortable sofa (made into a bed). My gentle, older INDOOR CAT enjoys meeting guests.
Large, quiet apt complex overlooking part of Richardson Bay. Teensy bit of background freeway noise, barely audible with sliding glass door closed. My apt has some Asian-inspired furniture. The available room (combination Living/Dining Rm) has a queen bed, a twin pullout sofa bed and a comfortable couch (which can be made up into a bed for a shorter fourth person, 5'4 or less) with partial views of Richardson bay and a privacy curtain to close off the area from the shared kitchen/entry. Shared bathroom/shower/tub/sink. Great (road or mountain) biking and hiking fairly close by. Close to public transportation (bus) into San Francisco -- usually 30-45 minutes bus ride or Airporter from SFO. WiFi available--written info on dining room table--can't miss it! Places to rent bikes and kayaks are accessible by car, within 5 miles. Variety of good restaurants, gas stations, and grocery store are about 1 mile away. Coin operated laundry 40 feet away ($2/load). There's a med-sized plasma TV in the Living Rm. Let me know in advance what activities you're interested in. I look forward to meeting you - Morna
View of water and hills, quiet, peaceful, VERY safe neighborhood, good restaurants (Japanese, Italian, Indian) within 15-20 minutes walk. A 30-40 minute walk or 5 minute drive gets you to Starbucks, Safeway grocery store, pizza, banks, Chinese, Thai, AAA, Mexican, McDonalds, In and Out Burgers. Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s are 5-10 minute drive away.
  • Morna's location is fabulous. Some nice benches right across the street looking towards the water. I read an entire book in the peace and quite and beauty (except for the birds which are great to watch)of a bench. Morna is easy going and her accommodations are more than super for the busy traveler.I had access to anything and everything that I needed. I'll definitely be back on my next trip;)

  • I was in town to run a half marathon in the Marin Headlands. Morna's place was PERFECT! Her apartment was clean, warm and inviting. The location was easy to find and easy access to the freeway. Even though my stay was very short, I found Morna's place and her hospitality lovely. Additionally, we had a very nice conversation about food and cooking, which I am a big fan of. I wish we had more time to visit, but I arrived late and had to get up super early in the morning.

  • Joe was a consistently great host to stay with, and the rental house is a charming property to boot! Joe was extremely helpful from the onset; very easy to book with, and was straightforward and easy going from there on. Really made me and my friend feel right at home. The property is in an amazing little space, very clean with a nice bathroom, on demand hot water, a small fridge, and very comfortable bed with a nice new TV. Enjoying coffee with the Chickens and the beautiful citrus trees in the back yard was a great start to both mornings. Looking forward to my next trip to the bay and hoping Joe is available!

  • Great location. Nice basic place. :-)

    Leah2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • My husband toddler and I had a great stay at Joe's small space. We were using the space only as a home base to sleep and shower as we visited a festival in San Francisco. We enjoyed what we saw of San Rafael, it was an easy town to get around. The drive into San Francisco was easy, little traffic and great view. The space itself was very basic, I probably would not stay here if I was looking to lounge around all day or looking for something romantic. Pull out couch was basic, matched most other pull out couch experiences I have had. Hot water worked great, shower was small. All in all a great stay, Joe was in touch and made himself available without being overbearing. Parking was simple, we found a spot out front both nights.

  • Shook my hand and asked if everything was ok.

  • If you are looking for a place like Marriott, then please look somewhere else. I am giving this place five stars because it is five stars place, based on the the price. It is better than I expected…and a lot better than Motel 6, but cheaper! Joe is prompt and professional. The parking can be a bit tricky. The neighborhood looks safe though.

  • I was relocating back to San Rafael and needed an affordable alternative to a hotel/motel while I took care of some last minute details before moving into a new place. I had seen Joe's studio on Airbnb before and the location was perfect. Walking distance to transportation, restaurants, banking. It was the perfect "home base" for me to run errands and my travel buddy to sight see in San Francisco during the day. He took my request super last minute. Very accommodating -- Even made up the hide a bed for us, which was nice -- we drove from Phoenix and arrived late. I would definitely recommend to any out of town visitors!

    Noelle2016-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Joe's place is in a nice quiet location with plenty of parking space nearby, perfect for exploring the San Francisco Bay Area. For the location and amenities (a private 'studio'), I don't think you can beat the price.

    Alan2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • The room was just what I needed for a brief trip to Northern California... it was cozy, clean and quiet. Joe greeted me when I arrived and recommended places to check out in the area. Muffin Mania down the street is great!! The lemon tree growing next to the studio was very sweet as well.

Unique setting next to the San Geronimo Valley Creek. Across a footbridge and next to our happy chickens you will find your cozy little Nook. Situated close to Pt Reyes National Park and other spectacular hiking and biking trails.
This is a studio in a private hideout in Lagunitas, next to the main house. The property is situated in a gorgeous valley full of redwood trees, flora and fauna. It is separated from the main road by a small creek, with a walking bridge connecting the home to the carport though a password protected gate. Trees, flowers, and ferns populate the yard, bringing in little birds, dragonflies, and frogs. We recently built a pond with lots of fish. Hopefully very soon we'll have some turtles in there as well. The studio has an extra-long full-sized bed, 2 lounge chairs, a TV, and plenty of closet space. It's equipped with a small kitchenette with a small refrigerator, convection oven, sink, and 2 burners. The bathroom has a fully functional shower. At night you can see the stars from the comfort of the bed through the skylights. Stepping outside the studio, you'll see a lounge area with comfortable blue chairs, and the chicken coop with our hens (all named after famous female singers. We'll introduce you, if you'd like!). Beyond the fire pit is the creek. We have a little island where you can climb down and observe the salmon swim upstream, and the crawdads fight one another for their ladies honor. We are located within a 5 minute drive to Spirit Rock, 30 minutes to Stinson Beach, and about 45 minutes to San Francisco. There are lots of places to go hiking and swimming around here, and it's a great area for biking. As far as media entertainment options, the studio does have a TV with premium cable, and we offer free wifi.
  • What a wonderful little find! The grounds and surroundings were so quaint and loved listening to the chatter of her chickens. I grew up in the country and Linda's place just fit the bill for our stay. We were out and about so much we did not have the opportunity to meet our host. Thank you again Linda for offering up this great lil get away when staying near San Francisco.

    Kathy2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The nook had a lot going for it, such as its beautiful location right on a creek and underneath the trees. The kitchen was well stocked and the place was clean and there were packets of delicious tea and organic oatmeal left for guests, which was a nice touch. Linda's dog, who hangs out around the property, is so cute and sweet. The bed was pretty cozy, though small for two people, and the skylights were beautiful to look through in bed at night. Also, Linda was a warm host who was very available the entire time. There were a few drawbacks that I was surprised weren't really mentioned in previous reviews. The place was much smaller than it appears in the pictures, so we felt very cramped. The price is very low, however, so I can't complain too much about that! The main issue we had during our stay, though, was the heating. It was very cold outside in late November there (like below freezing) so we were looking forward to a cozy, warm place to retreat to at night. Unfortunately, the central heater didn't really work at all, and the space heater didn't work until we figured out that you had to press the off button for it to turn on. Even with both of those set on high, it took about four hours for the place to warm up to 67 degrees and it never got warmer than that. Also, the coffee machine wasn't really working (it clogged up). I was sort of in between rating this 3 and 4 stars, but ultimately went with providing the benefit of the doubt as I'm sure this place is much more fabulous in the summer when heating isn't an issue. If the heating gets fixed, I would recommend it based on the value for the price, but I must admit that it wasn't my favorite airbnb ever.

    Emily2015-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • The weekend getaway of a lifetime! Linda's nook was so amazing it made the perfect getaway from city life.

    Kelly2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Linda has a beautiful space and an absolutely stunning property. She's an amazingly gracious host, and we really enjoyed our weekend stay. There's a wonderful Indian restaurant, a bar and a deli about 5 minutes away from the property. Jake the dog is very, very sweet. Thanks Linda, we had a wonderful time.

    Mayank2012-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful first airbnb experience. Linda was a great and inviting hostess, always responding to enquiries quickly. We used her studio as a base for a couple days of exploring San Francisco. Although it was difficult for us to get an early start each day just because of how comfortable the bed was and the overall environment of the studio. Her place is in a beautiful, wooded, peaceful area and quite secluded from the street. Would have enjoyed to have stayed longer and seen more of the area, but time constraints prevented us from doing so this time. Would absolutely love to return in the future if/when possible. Thanks for the hospitality Linda!

    Greg2012-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was very warm, welcoming, and accommodating. The property is shady and restful on a summer's day, with many beautiful plants and trees. We especially enjoyed the chickens and friendly dog. This was just a short getaway from San Francisco, but we really felt like we were in a different (sunny!) world, surrounded by nature and wildlife in nearby Samuel P. Taylor Park. Great restaurants nearby, including one in walking distance.

    Heather2015-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Ah, the Nook. Such a sweet little getaway tucked away on a gorgeous piece of property nestled in giant trees and up against a babbling brook. We loved waking up to the sounds of birds and chickens, while natural sight poured in above us from the many skylights in the Nook. Very cozy and very precious. The kitchenette was great!

Enjoy the beauty of Muir Woods from the comfort of your cottage. We have a natural stream that runs through our yard. You will have your own entrance to the cottage without going through the main house. **Important** Cell phone reception will be very spotty in the neighborhood. Unfortunately the Wifi connection is also slow. (Would not recommend doing work that requires fast internet.) The bathroom does not have a solid wood door. However, it has a curtain to protect privacy.
Spacious cottage in the heart of redwood trees. Enjoy relaxing shaded yard with natural stream outside your window.
Drive to Muir Woods and Muir beach.
  • This is a beautiful, quiet set-up within walking distance of a quaint village.

    Chris2018-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was decent but there were some issues with cleanliness. The location is amazing and the town of Larkspur was a perfect getaway! Close enough to San Francisco to make the location perfect! There were only 2 towels and no wash cloths for 3 people who stayed 3 days. Bring your own linens. No place to put trash once the small bin filled up. Bed and other accommodations were as described and comfortable. The room could use a fan to create some air circulation since it is very humid and towels did not dry after being hung up for 24 hours. A radiator-type heater was available. Host did respond positively to a request we had about an outdoor light. Overall, we liked the location and the space was ok.

    Mark2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel's place is so beautiful! The little cottage itself is nice and simple but has everything you could need, including gorgeous views of the redwoods. It is in a great, quiet neighborhood that is secluded from the craziness of the city, but very close and accessible at the same time. I would highly recommend it!!

    Samantha2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Surrounded by redwoods. Short drive to downtown across golden gate bridge. Quite, clean and cozy. Would definitely recommend.

  • Beautiful little area....very pleased with our stay. I suggest eating at pizzeria picco not far from there....amazing people and food!! Daniel was very responsive and the cabin was adorable. Will definitely stay here again!

    Rachel2018-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel's cottage is the perfect little place for those looking to reconnect with nature yet not stay too far away from the real life. It's situated among the beautiful redwood trees on a street that almost feels like you're in the middle of a forest yet it's walkable distance to Lukspur's amazing restaurants, cafes, yoga studios and salons. We really enjoyed our four night stay and would come back again.

    Nat2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Being surrounded by redwoods was magical. The walk on the Dawn Falls trail was very special as we got to see our first spotted owl. Ming is a lovely host.

    Laura2018-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel was very easy to communicate with and responded quickly. He was also very accommodating with some scheduling changes. (Thank you Daniel) The sound of the fountain outside is calming and there is a trail that runs right by the house which unfortunately time did not allow me to enjoy. The location is fairly close to many restaurants and the home itself is in a quiet and woodsy area. The place could use some renovating or updating. It does the job for an affordable place to crash but not somewhere to really relax inside for an extended period of time. There’s isn’t a tv there which was my error in checking amenities. There is also a curtain for the bathroom door so be sure if there is more than one of you, you are okay with the lack of privacy. The kitchen was stocked with cooking utensils but small and could use some updating. Instead of cooking there are a few restaurants to dine at nearby.

Romantic hide-away for one or two. Unique charming cross between Ewok village, high tech Shire and Olympian Eyre: suitable for the eco tourist, road weary business traveler, honeymooners, bird watchers, tree huggers, athletically /aesthetically inclined artist nerd, exotic dignitaries, celebrity monks, training retreater wanting to experience nature by visit/living an experiment in social future building. In room refrigerator, electric water kettle, toaster oven and private bathroom. Ultimate quiet and privacy with separate entrance and house privileges, kitchen, laundry, hiking/bike trails, ample outdoor parking. WIFI, work on-site office facilities and many unusual options. The room is light filled all day with sumptuous down comforters and natural fiber linens to snuggle in for a long winter's nap. The 100+-year-old Heidi house craftsman style local redwood construction is warmed by old-fashioned fireplace of the same vintage, letting your imagination time travel to the age of dirt main streets when the Gravity train passed not far from our access trails. History buffs, globetrotters, poets, mycologists, physicists, jam with the achieved musicians and entertainers who frequent this house. The environs of the quaint southern Marin community offers many of the traditional seasonal artsy/athletic events: Mill Valley Film Festival, the famous Dipsea Race, ascending and descending the adjacent ridge, the esteemed annual Old Mill Park Fall Arts Fair, the birth place of mountain biking utilizing the abundance of hiking/biking trails - linking the Bay fronting the Portofino like Sausalito, to the majestic white sanded coast of the Pacific. Enthusiastic wind surfers and hang gliders dot the horizon. Jack Kerouac authored Dharma Bums and The Scripture of the Golden Eternity, near the trailhead outside our Canyon entrance. Access by trail to the property or ascend meandering stairs suggests minimum baggage maximum health. Smoking cigarettes is an unwelcome hazard on the mountain; the parking lot below allows. To fully enjoy the opportunity of being in this piece of paradise, 16 minutes from the Golden Gate Toll Plaza, be prepared to energetically relax. Enjoy organic gardens, honey from our happy bees, chlorine and fluoride free water, and take deep breaths of pollution free air. The makings are all here for your pleasure and appreciation. Seeing is believing. You will prefer a vehicle to get to the main road, if you don’t want to walk a mile and a half to Miller Ave., main street in Mill Valley, for public transportation. Inevitably you will want to stay longer than you have booked. Happy trails.
  • A unique place in a secluded wooded setting. Parking is a challenge. Don't wear sandals as there are over 100 steps and a walk on a trail to reach the room. Pros: room has an attached bathroom, refrigerator, access to an IPad, and wifi. There is a tram available to carry luggage up most of the way. Headlamps are provided to help see in the dark as you make your way to your room. Cons: Room was dusty with cobwebs seen. Rug could've been vacuumed. Bed linens smelled musty/unwashed. Kitchen was unsanitary as there were dishes piled in the sink with food in them and a crockpot with food left on the table. Little flies hovered in the kitchen in the middle of the room. House is very, very cluttered. There are holes in the plastic roof covering the solarium outside of the room and the only "doors" leading outside of the solarium were thick plastic sheets (used to keep wildlife out if the house). Faustin is a lovely host who clearly loves her house. She communicates effectively with prospective renters. The place has a lot of potential, but needs a lot of work.

    Tammy2017-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • A most interesting home built in a hill, but you can be at one with nature.

    Sharon2018-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The redwood forest setting is spectacular. The host is genuinely friendly and eager to make sure you know what you need to know to enjoy the area. Be aware that there are, literally 101 steep stairs and stretches of narrow path skirted by a steep drop off between the parking lot and the house. Faustin was thoughtful in providing headlamps when we went out in the evening so we were not in danger of tripping when we returned after dark. A couple of young men live in the house. They are friendly and warm. The house is a very cool 100+ year old red wood structure. Has a very lived in feel. Not to place to stay if you are a neat freak. But worth a look if you are up for a genuine Mill Valley experience.

    Lynn2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a special place to relax than this is the perfect spot for you! We stayed here before visiting San Francisco and explored the surroundings including Muir Woods and the beaches. Faustin is a great person. We felt very welcome at her place :)

    Tillmann2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Read all the reviews CAREFULLY! Beautiful setting, house sits on a steep hill high in the clouds. Lots of steps to climb. Room is tiny and is not a tree house at all. Deck is covered w/potted plants hardly space to put a chair on Room has all necessary amenities which you must use since the kitchen upstairs is soooooo cluttered, we could not find a 3 lbs of coffee beans! Make sure there is NOT a party upstairs at night - noise was unbearable until 3 AM when the party finished! Cheers, Georgia and Nick

    Georgia2018-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Faustin was a wonderful host, she arranged for someone to greet us as we arrived. She took the time to give us a lot of valuable tips on what to do in the area and shared some interesting stories. The house is quite a treat, very charming and just as quirky as described. The room was clean and cozy, Faustin even arranged fruits and coffee/tea in the room. Too bad we couldn't stay longer, would absolutely come back. Truly a unique experience living with and in the trees.

    Simon2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Faustin was very welcoming, even invited me out to dinner the first night. I really appreciated the balance of friendliness and privacy.

    Katie2016-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • While the room itself was quite nice, feather bed et al, the entry, privacy, and views from the room were compromised by unsightly belongings and occasionally other people living on premises. The price we paid was much higher than currently listed; cheaper price would have been more agreeable. The place was not cleaned upon arrival, and cat smell persisted throughout stay. While the listing states "no pets" there are cats around, so if you have cat allergies, be aware. We had not realized that the Kitchen and other living space was shared, not private. We had not anticipated that people would be using the shared living space, directly above us, late into the evening. The enclosed entry outside the room (covered with plastic) was filled with stuff, making the entry cumbersome and unsightly to look at from our window. Listing should state that there are 100 steps up to the room. Hot tub was not operating, so if you are wanting to use that, make sure you confirm it is working in advance of your stay.

Your guest suite with private patio and hot outdoor shower (shared) in a bamboo garden is in the heart of Marin, minutes to San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito, John Muir Woods, Stinson Beach, and Mt. Tamalpais State Park. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are right down the street, and downtown San Rafael is five minutes away, with many restaurants and shops. We're a short drive to Napa and Sonoma!
This listing is for a comfortable room with a private half bathroom, outdoor patio with Adirondack chairs, and an awesome hot outdoor shower under a palm tree in a bamboo grotto. Please note that there is no indoor shower. Please note: the "Agave Room" is attached to our main home, as it is our guest bedroom, but it has a private entrance. One reserved parking spot is included. It is in the driveway, which is shared with our neighbors. Your room is equipped with a coffee & coffee maker, mini fridge, robes, and a TV with Netflix and Hulu. Be advised that we have a detached, private, backyard tiny home studio that we also rent on Airbnb, and they will have access to the outdoor shower, which is available to anyone staying on the property.
The house is located a couple of minutes from Highway 101, in the Dominican neighborhood of San Rafael. The Dominican University is a 10 minute walk from the house. Whole Foods is a 10 minute walk down the road, and downtown San Rafael is a 15 minute walk. San Rafael has a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops. 4th Street is a great place to explore, with a multitude of eateries, including many different international cuisines. Nearby, approximately 10 minutes away, is the Larkspur Ferry. Here you can take a beautiful boat ride into San Francisco. Other local towns of interest include San Anselmo, a beautiful quaint town perfect for a stroll and some shopping. Nearby Fairfax is "the home of mountain biking." Fairfax is an eclectic community with restaurants, shops, and a brewery. Of course, you can't visit Marin without checking out Sausalito, the closest town to San Francisco, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. This community is extremely beautiful, with homes built on the hillsides, a houseboat community, and many sights worth exploring. Mount Tamalpais State Park is astounding, with breathtaking views, redwoods, and a multitude of hiking trails. Over the mountain, you will find Stinson Beach, a world famous surf spot with a relaxed beach town atmosphere. Our proximity to Sonoma and Napa Valleys is great. We often spend the day up there, as it is so easy to drive.

It’s impeccable, has beautiful views and a peaceful energy feeling – located on a nice mountain close to major transportation options. I used my stay to take walks, take outdoor showers, jump on the jacuzzi, visit good restaurants nearby and commute to San Francisco when needed. Highly recommended as a short getaway from the city.

  • Kristie's home is a lovely house with great views and easy access to San Francisco. We were extremely comfortable during our four nights there, and found Kristie a very warm, welcoming and helpful host. The bedrooms do not have curtains or blinds so a sleep mask is advisable if you are a light sleeper. This does however mean that you can see some spectacular views from the house at sunrise and sunset. The property also does not have a washer or dryer as listed, but Kristie very kindly allowed us to use hers during our stay.

  • Great place, great view!

    Michael2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the house was perfect. It was super close to Muir Woods and the Golden Gate bridge. It was close enough to San Francisco and Pier 39 and the other popular tourist locations of the city. Mill Valley has plenty of amenities for a comfortable stay. The house is very clean and the kitchen provided everything you would need to cook in as often as you like. We used both bedrooms and the air mattress. We were pleasantly surprised by Hawk Hill that is just a short walk from the house and provided a great view. Kristie was very responsive and offered help should it be needed. The house is more suited for couples than a family of four as we had on this trip. Both bedrooms have a full glass door so there is no privacy and with different sleep schedules between the four of us, there was light coming from somewhere at all times. The house has huge windows throughout and beautiful views of mountains and the city but there are no curtains, so expect to be up at dawn. The bathroom is in the hallway and has a standard frosted shower door as the access door. This door has no locks..again no privacy. We were surprised to find that the house had another guest on a level below ours. We generally wouldn't have a problem with this but his first visit to the house was at 10pm and he walked right by our kitchen window to enter his level of the house. This was a bit scary to the child that was nearest the window at the time. Lastly, the house does have a carport but it is taken by a car. Expect to park on the side of a tiny road in a very specific space. We didn't have a problem with this but if another neighbor or guest of other houses parked in your one spot this could be a real problem.

    Zach2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. The king bed was very comfortable and the view was amazing. The location was close to all the places we wanted to visit and the town is very quaint. Our only complaint was that the neighborhood had many construction jobs going on and on our last morning we had no water. We assumed it was due to the construction but we couldn't brush our teeth or wash our dishes or even enjoy one last shower in the amazing shower. Besides the last morning we did have an enjoyable stay and would come back. P.S Our dogs loved it! They had fun sunbathing on the deck.

  • It's okay, not great. Second bed is past it's due date, very uncomfortable.

  • Hong's place was just as pictured. It was clean, cute, and had everything we needed and more. I would recommend staying here.

  • Its was perfect !!i recommend

    Aimen2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Hong's home was great for the price we paid. It is a guest area attached to the main house. It has a private parking spot, which was very convenient. It was a little further from San Francisco than expected but it was manageable. Overall a wonderful experience. Didn't get a chance to meet Hong due to my busy schedule, but she was very accommodating and quick to respond to any questions I had nonetheless.

Newly remodeled 1 BR/1 BA, 600 sq ft private unit w separate entrance. The only living space on top floor. Great views, wireless, TV w local broadcast, minifridge, microwave, portable a/c unit, Keurig coffee maker, private patio, 2 queen size beds, and a couch that folds down into a futon.
This rental is for the entire upstairs floor of our 1952 Oakmore ranch style house. It has a separate entrance on the side of the home, and is located up one flight of stairs. The interior of the private unit is clean, uncluttered, and modern. There is a door frame, but no actual door between the sleeping quarters and the living quarters. Included within the unit are two queen sized beds. The one in the bedroom has a memory foam topper. There is an additional queen size bed in the living room next to a couch/futon that folds down into a bed. The beds are outfitted with 1500 thread count sheets, and the one in the bedroom has a down comforter. We provide clean linens, towels, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner. We are a residential home and operate on a residential hot water heater. For that reason, we're best suited to host groups of 2. We also are equipped to host families consisting of 2 adults and 2 kids. We absolutely cannot host groups of more than 4.
Oakmore is a safe, peaceful residential neighborhood in Oakland. It is close to highway 13, making commuting easy. The house backs up to green space, and we often see deer running through the back of our property. The house is a very short drive to the restaurants and shops on Park Street, and in Montclair Village.

    Clemencia2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful home! I loved the windows and all the natural light coming into the rooms. San Francisco is just visible out the front windows and there's a beautiful wooded backyard view in the back. The Bay bridge is an easy 15 minute drive and plenty to do and see nearby in Oakland!

  • Very nice place, pretty clean and comfortable. Christi was very helpful and easy to contact, the neighborhood is very calm

    Deborah2016-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Christi's Place is a lovely place to stay close to the city without people close enough to look in the windows. A great value for lodging.

    Sally2017-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Christi and Doug are amazing hosts!!! My friends and I checked in Friday morning and we were out for the day exploring San Francisco. When we returned around midnight the water was not working. I sent a text to our hosts and although it was late, I got a response within two hours (considering the time, I think this was good) that a plumber would be coming in the morning. By 9am the plumber hadn't arrived and we were offered a full refund due to the inconvenience to find other accommodations or a partial credit if we stayed. We chose the credit because we didn't want to look for anything last minute. The fact that they gave us either option says a lot to me. The plumber showed up around 9:30am and was done before noon (we went for breakfast at Portal Restaurant, so yummy). Space looks exactly like the photos. Very clean and spacious. Both beds are super comfortable. Fell in love with the shower and all the natural light. I would recommend renting a car (plenty of street parking). The house can be a little tricky to get to the first time, but the drive in was beautiful and the neighborhood is quiet. There's a farmers market on Sundays in Montclair (5-10min drive). Would definitely recommend to those looking for a quiet, relaxing and beautiful place away from the city.

  • Great stay!

    Jennifer2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great location with plenty of parking and an amazing view. The entire place was very clean and the hosts had coffee and tea available as well as a mini fridge. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

  • Increibles anfitriones, es lugar es hermoso, tranquilo y accesible a todos los lugares en auto. Se puede estacionar el mismo sin problemas. El vecindario es muy apacible. Si tuviera que volver no dudaria donde alojarme.

The bathroom had all high quality appliances, and the bed was super super comfortable. The park near the apartment is beautiful, and I highly recommend checking that out. Parking can be a bit difficult, but public transit in the area will get you anywhere you need to be. Good stay.

  • Our stay at Su's Appartement was our first Airbnb experience and it was great!

Imagine falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves. This clean, quiet garden apartment is perfect for the nature loving city dweller. Steps from the beach, Golden Gate Park, the Zoo and more. Ample street parking and MUNI train 2 blocks away.
Private in-law apartment offering 2 beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable rooms. The bedroom includes a queen bed with crisp linens a down comforter, warm wool rug, beautiful art and closet and dresser for your belongings. The second room is a living space with a couch that converts to a full bed, a separate comfortable reading chair and lamp. The 42" flat screen is equipped with Apple TV and high speed wireless internet. The kitchenette is fully stocked with pots, pans and dishes. A microwave, toaster oven, electric kettle, 5 cup coffee maker, electric induction counter top range and small fridge complete the kitchen and make it operational for light cooking. Complimentary coffee, tea and a bottle of wine offered to all guests. The private bathroom is small but bright and clean with shower over tub, complementary shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. The private garden has a bistro table making it a perfect spot for morning coffee while listening to the waves and surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers. Ample, free street parking available in the neighborhood.
The "outerlands" as this area of the city used to be called is where nature meets urban, widely and wonderfully. Families, surfers, artists, hipsters, techies and eccentrics come together to create a multicultural neighborhood that is dominated by the ocean and the sky! Really I think the Sunset District is San Francisco's best kept secret. It is clean and safe and quiet at night. You are about a half hour from the hustle and bustle of downtown (by car or public transport). Out here the streets are wider, the backyards bigger, and free parking is easy to find. People who like the outdoors love the location, especially for surfing, jogging, cycling, and hiking. Typically the Sunset can be foggy in June and July, but is clear and beautiful most of the rest of the year. Fall is stellar. Yearly temperatures hover in the 60-65 degrees. Golden Gate Park is only 4 blocks north and is filled with absolutely everything you can imagine: free concerts, archery ranges, entertainment pools, beautiful gardens, a bison paddock, polo field, duck ponds, and everything that you could possibly imagine! Including, The Academy of Science Museum, De Young art museum, and Japanese Tea Garden, The Arboretum and Conservatory of Flowers, plus great hiking, running and biking trails. We're also a popular destination for marathon participants and concert-goers, with events nearby like Bay to Breakers, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, and Outside Lands. There is a beautiful 5 mile walking path directly across from my home. It spans from Sloat Blvd. to the Cliff House/Sutro Baths. Popular restaurants include: Thanh Long, Outerlands, Cliff House, Beach Chalet & Brewery, Celia's Mexican Restaurant, Sunset Reservoir Brewery Company, Devils Teeth Bakery, Andy Town Coffee shop, Java Beach Café and many more. Great choice of shops selling locally made surfboards, jewelry and art... The Last Straw, San Franpsyco apparel, Establish and The General Store just to name a few.
  • The place is awesome, cozy, quiet, clean, and comfortable. We loved having access to the outside garden/patio and the light coming in from the sliding glass doors. the second room has a door one can close if you want to use it as another bedroom or livingroom/tv room and not disturb anyone sleeping in the bed. Heather and Ryder are GREAT! and there was anything you might need provided by her. Forget something? I bet she has it in the bathroom or kitchenette! She was very available to us if we had any questions, but we felt totally left alone and private. The neighborhood is also great as there are many places to eat nearby within walking distance and the ocean/beach is just across the street!

    Krista And Frank2016-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location - right across the street from the beach! Lovely apartment, beautifully decorated, clean and very comfortable. Heather was easy to communicate with. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and her friendly brother who was staying upstairs offered to be of assistance, if needed. We will definitely stay here again. Thanks, Heather!

    Kathryn2016-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Heather's apartment for two nights during a short stay in San Francisco. The apartment is absolutely gorgeous. You will feel relaxed and at home at her apartment. There is a very lush garden in the back patio with lavender that smells heavenly as soon as you walk out there. The area is generally safe but definitely up and coming. We would recommend that you avoid local restaurants unless it is a last resort. Unfortunately my girlfriend got sick the night before our flight home from eating at a local thai restaurant. Other than that the apartment was awesome and the area is an easy 15-20 min drive from most activities.

    Jeffrey2016-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Heather, La Rocha and furry feline Ginger were wonderful hosts. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, and Heather's recommendations for neighborhood hot spots helped ensure we had a great time in San Francisco.

    Kay2017-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal location close to the ocean, and charming apartment where we enjoyed our stay to discover San Francisco. Heather was available and helping when necessary. Stay too short but a good opportunity to come back!

    Sophie2016-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Heather was very warm and welcoming and quick to address a few minor concerns we had. We loved the location so near the beach, the comfortable and lovely accommodations, the peaceful courtyard, and the wonderful garden entrance. A fantastic experience overall, we would come back in a heartbeat!

    Julie2016-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Heather’s with my boyfriend and we loved our stay. It is in a great location- being so close to the beach was such a treat for us. The place itself is so calm with its outside garden patio and cozy and comfortable inside too! Heather was very nice and great at communicating, we appreciate her attention to detail and care she put in to make our stay a positive one. Will definitely stay there again if we have the chance!

    Elise2017-12-31T00:00:00Z

Our large guest bedroom in a tranquil neighborhood is available in a cool, modern house with hardwood floors, high ceilings, and views of San Francisco.
Your room is a well-appointed bedroom with two closets, a nice bed, a desk, a chair, TV with Netflix, hardwood floors, and 13' ceilings. Our home has a view of SF, nestled on a hilltop with a park behind us. We love the house and are excited to share it with you :-)
A good burrito (and Huevos Rancheros in the morning) can be found at Taqueria Dona Maria, 3550 San Pablo Dam Road El Sobrante, CA The closest grocery store is Raleys, also on San Pablo Dam Road. There is a Trader Joe's in Pinole about 10 minutes away. There is a small park directly behind our house which can be accessed from the stairs at the end of our street which is perfect for running, or just a look around. For hiking, we love Wildcat Canyon and Point Pinole. Of course, you're a short drive from one of the greatest cities in the world!
  • Joshua and Emily are excellent host. Friendly people who make you feel at home. The bed is super comfortable and you have your own private bathroom. Parking is never a problem with a nice large open street. The view of San francisco from the bedroom window is a nice touch. I will definitely book again...I had a very pleasant stay. I like the two pups...very friendly and fun to play with...a house full of love. Thanks Joshua and Emily

  • Joshua's place was fantastic, and their dogs are so adorable! Hosts were courteous and welcoming, and listing was just as described. We absolutely loved the feel to it, because we're a big fan of lofts and rustic design. Thanks for the wonderful stay, we'll definitely keep this place in mind when we go back to SF!

    Melody2017-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic experience! Josh and Emily were super welcoming, opening up their beautiful home in a way that made us feel like we were staying with old friends! This place is a beautifully designed and warm environment- it's clear they care about guests' comfort. The neighborhood was quiet and serene while still close to restaurants and stores. If you're visiting the Bay Area, you need to stay here!

    Clarissa2016-01-09T00:00:00Z

  • Highly recommended. Great hosts, great space and great coffee!

    Sandy2018-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Josh and Emily were perfect hosts! We weren't around very much, but Josh and Emily were extremely helpful whenever we were at the house. Their dogs, Frankie and Chelsea were so sweet. The room was open, stylish, and bright. Our flight was earlier in the day, so they even got us in and settled earlier than the set check-in time. It was very appreciated. Only 45 min.-1 hour train/bus ride from San Francisco, and about the same from Oakland. If you drive, it's only about 20-30 minutes. You won't regret staying here!

    Chloe2017-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Joshua's place looks just like in the pictures. The room is nice and spacious and the bed is super comfy. The neighborhood is quiet. I didn't have a car during my stay in Richmond but it's possible to move around by bus/bart. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the nearest Bart station. Joshua and his partner are very nice and they helped me with everything.

  • Chris's house was one of the best house that I have even been through Airbnb. Although I arrived her house really late due to flight delays , she warmly welcomed us. Will stay here again if I have a chance to go to SF. Thank you so much, Chris !

    Suhyeon2017-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was just perfect for our needs. It is in agood location with easy transport into the city centre in one direction and the beach in the other direction. There are plenty of facilities in the local area for all needs. We would highly recommend staying in the studio. Chris is a great host and very helpful and provides all the information you could need for an enjoyable stay in San Francisco. Nothing to fault.

    Peter2017-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Just had a great mother-daughter retreat at Chris' place. Love the studio, Golden Gate Park, and the neighborhood. The studio is spacious, clean and comfortable. Highly recommend it to people who want to explore GGP and nearby.

    Wendy2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Chris has been the most welcoming and considerate host we have ever had. She was very quick in responding and the communication was clear and helpful. She also checked in with us everyday to make sure everything is good. There were oatmeal, juice, yogurt and coffee/tea provided in the kitchen, and all kinds of personal care supplies provided for our convenience. What's the best about the room is the garden view that you can enjoy, whether on the comfy couch or bed. The room was furnished as much as a home than a luxurious hotel room, with bookshelf, closet, and a kitchen. With the Golden Gate Park only 5-min walk away, and the bus stop one block away, it was great for exploring SF. We enjoyed our stay at Chris', and would sincerely recommend it to anyone who wants to have a great time and stay.

    Cherry2015-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Chris’s place was perfect for our trip. It was beautiful, clean, and stocked with all the necessities. It was so easy to get around town. We had a great experience!

    Breanne2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to feel like a local instead of a tourist, this is the place. We wanted to experience San Francisco and for this reason we opted for a residential area rather than a downtown hotel. Chris took the time to provide some local suggestions for food and everyone we tried at her suggestion was a hit. We come from a small city and we never use public transit but we were champs at using the Muni in San Fran!! Again great stay, thank you.

    Yvonne2018-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was lovely, it was spacious and clean and the kitchen was stocked with breakfast items which was a great surprise. The bed was really comfy and warm and the garden area looked beautiful although we didn't have time to go out and enjoy it. The shower was amazing and was stocked with toiletries which was a nice touch. The host Chris was really friendly and actually gave us a lift downtown as it was raining. The buses were frequent and a cheap way to get about, the bus stop was close to the property.

    Jo2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This retreat is amazing! Upon check in we were greeted so comfortably by Chris. She had many tips for the area and showed us around the room. The area is perfect - so close to the park, yummy bakeries and public transportation. The space was so clean and quiet - a perfect retreat to the end of the day. A small kitchen area with fridge and fresh fruit and breakfast items were so appreciated. Travel guides, books and a beautiful garden setting beyond the glass doors made this the perfect choice for our San Francisco getaway! We can't wait to come back and would choose this Airbnb in a heartbeat!

Plan the day while sipping coffee at the white lacquer dining table of this stylish, second-floor flat in a Victorian home. Orange textiles, colorful ceramics, and board games are eclectic accents amid minimalist furnishings and pale hardwood floors.
Private studio flat on the second floor of a duplexed home with one flight of steps to get to the entrance and two more to get into the door. Street unmetered parking or a space can be made available nearby for an additional fee.
Situated between the heights and sites of Bernal Hill, known for its stunning views, the studio is close to shops, cafes, and restaurants, including some of the best taquerias in town. The Mission District is also nearby.
  • Jan's place is great... adorable in fact. I found it very comfortable for two adults. We brought our dogs and I liked that the apartment was on the second floor so my dogs didn't bark at every dog passing by. The kitchen had everything we needed. Jan stocked the fridge with the essentials - milk, creamer (thank you!), coffee, orange juice, English muffins. Enough to get us started - especially for a coffee addict like me. The bed was super comfortable. I couldn't tell if it was a queen or full sized bed, but it was enough room for two adults to fit comfortably. The bathroom was roomy enough as well. Everything is brand new - so it all works. The water pressure is fine. We'd definitely stay here again (and we will). The neighborhood has a lot to offer for food. We tried the curry pizza place a few blocks away which was pretty good. If you're looking for a place near the mission or a safe place to stay in SF that you can walk around and get places... this is a great choice. :)

    Babette2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautifully decorated, and spotless little pied-a-tier in a wonderful neighborhood. On the Mission side of Bernal, you can walk to some of the best bars and restaurants in the city. Both BART and Courtland Ave are just a 10 minute stroll away so the location can't be beat. The space itself is bright and clean and our hosts were exceptional, they even stocked the fridge with breakfast foods and left us home-baked cookies, such a nice touch. All around, a perfect experience, I will definitely be booking this again.

    Alison2017-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great apartment - modern, clean and comfortable with everything you might need. Great location out of the city centre but very easy to get around on public transport - including to and from the airport. Great restaurants nearby as well as grocery store.

    John2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautifully equipped studio apartment. It was so comfortable, immaculate, well decorated and lovely, with many personal touches. It felt like being home while away. Jan thought of everything that you could possibly need or want in this beautiful studio apartment. It made our time in San Francisco very special. I really liked the location and very close to restaurants, markets and transportation. Inexpensive and convenient Uber rides to everywhere else. I will stay there again when visiting San Francisco. Wonderful place and host.

    Doreen2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a month at this studio and everything was phenomenal. Jar of cookies waiting for me at my arrival, after my own heart for sure! Very clean, very functional space. Having a private dishwasher and washer/dryer is a touch of class I'm typically not graced with! Location great as well. Nice quiet neighborhood, but steps away from the essentials: grocer, convenience store, drug store not to mention all the wonders of Mission and Valencia mere blocks away. • A lovely home base to explore a great city. Highly recommended!

  • Jan and Bernard were lovely hosts, and the studio was the perfect temporary home for my dog and I. I booked a month and a half stay at the very last minute, and they were perfectly accommodating. The place was spotlessly clean with fresh cookies waiting when I arrived. They gave me a safe place to lock up my bike, quickly took care of any issues that arose during my stay, and when I locked myself out one night, they were there to help out. The place is definitely small, but the layout/furniture/etc make it feel like nothing is missing. Really enjoyed my stay!

Easy access to everything in the Bay Area, great neighbors, excellent restaurants, coffee houses nearby. Easy to walk, bicycle and enjoy our usually great weather.
  • Barbara was very attentive to my needs, and, in addition, we had some interesting conversations. Chris made a point of introducing himself to me, even though we didn’t have as much contact. The cottage is not large, but pleasant and cozy, with lots of light from windows and a skylight above. The bed is especially comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom, just a few steps from the cottage, are attractive and well-kept. There is an AC Transit bus stop a block away on Shattuck Ave., and the business district of 51st and Telegraph is a short walk from the house. I highly recommend this listing.

  • This was the perfect place in Oakland. The bed is super comfortable, there is cable in the cottage and the bathroom is easily accessible.

  • Welcoming hosts and cozy private room. I hope to stay with Barbara and Chris on another visit to Oakland.

    Mia2017-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Though we never met Barbara, Chris was extremely helpful and very responsive. He drove us to the train station on our first night to show us where it is. Their little cottage is well-equipped with a TV and wifi, and we enjoyed walking a half-mile to a mile down the main street each morning for breakfast. Everything they provided was clean, and the stay was very enjoyable.

  • We loved our stay in Oakland! Transport in and out of San Francisco was easy and convenient, and it was great getting out of the city and resting each night in a super comfy bed. If staying with Chris and Barbara make sure you venture around Oakland - we were able to experience First Friday’s which we highly recommend! :-)

  • Judy offers a stay very cheap, and her house is located in a great area to explore San Francisco. If I were to point out some bad aspects, I would say that shower was a little bit cold sometimes and the room was cold at night. But, overall, the house is a great place to stay. Much recommended.

  • Judy's place was great: a nice clean room just a block from Golden Gate Park. Judy herself was very sweet and accommodating.

  • Check-in was extremely easy. I forgot to book accommodations to San Francisco. The night before my flight I messaged Judy to see if they could accommodate someone so fast. They were able to. The lock on the front door is a combination lock which makes it easy to get in and out. Your key is just for the room. There was a smaller bathroom with a nice shower and also a larger bathroom with a tub. It was very nice. Extremely close to transportation with a couple express lines to The Financial District. Judy was nice and offered me coffee in the morning. Overall a great stay! Thanks again!

  • We had such a great time in San Francisco. Our stay with Charlesie and Tedd was just perfect. The apartment was ideal for our party of four adults. Lots of space and very comfortable. I slept so well! The apartment has everything you need and there was a few things in the fridge to get us started. And home made cookies and bread! Amazing. We had an issue with a parking ticket and our hosts helped us out with that. We are so grateful. I could not recommended staying here highly enough. We had a car so it was easy to get into the centre of town. It took around 15 minutes because it was close to the freeway. Around the apartment was a few shops and a few restaurants within walking distance. Great place, would definitely recommend and I would stay here again if I was ever in San Francisco.

  • Very cosy ground level apartment in quiet part of San Francisco. I was travelling with a friend and this listing had everything that we needed. Both bed rooms in the apartment are very generous size and the beds are super comfortable! The TV has a huge variety of channels to choose from. Charlesie and Tedd are both super nice and had load of suggestions for us to do while we were in San Francisco and any questions we had were answered. Any extra information was provided in the information booklet. If in San Francisco I will definitely be back at Charlesie & Tedd's, their home made bread upon arrival was an added tasty bonus!

  • We loved this little gem in a wonderful city. Awesome space and very accomodating hosts! Would love to go back and stay!

  • Totally great choice for 4 ppl. 2 bedrooms, not sofa bed. Very much appreciate they prepare snacks, fruits and drinks. Convenient location, we rent a car, so not in downtown but not far either, even better, it's quiet and safe compound, easy for parking along drive way side.

  • We had a wonderful couple of days in San Francisco, and our hosts played an important part in that. The appartment was exactly as we hoped it would be: clean, quiet, providing plenty of space for the four of us. And Charlesie and Tedd were extremely friendly and hospitable hosts, providing us with a stocked fridge on arrival and lots of helpful suggestions for our days in the city.

    Henk2015-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tedd and Charlesie were amazing hosts. The place was clean and the amenities were top quality, to corners cut. The little touches, like lending us a public transport card to load and providing maps, turned a great stay into an easy one too.

This is a lovely place to stay, just minutes from San Francisco. Halfway between an apartment and a hotel suite, it is the 1st floor of a 3 story building with a private entrance and an exclusive driveway. Please read our numerous glowing reviews.
Sausalito is a great place to spend a night...or a few decades (I came here for three months from NYC...thirty years ago). If you're visiting San Francisco, this little village is right on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge...a charming alternative to big city hotels. It's a convenient HQ for trips to SF with easy access to the California Coast and the Wine Country. Nightly rates range from $99 for isolated single dates to over $200 for holidays and special events (when a minimum number of nights may be in effect). This recently renovated modern unit is like a luxurious hotel suite with a private entrance and no other access from the rest of the building. It's like a studio apartment without a kitchen (just a microwave, beverage cooler, and coffee maker). A separate bedroom and closet behind french doors (shown open and closed in the photos) with a comfy queen-size bed. A living area with a beautiful sectional, gas fireplace (ignited by a remote). There's a small dining area and breakfast bar. Bathroom with Jacuzzi tub (with a European-style hand-held shower head, not one mounted on the wall), bathroom sundries and separate WC. It also has a big screen TV (with cable) in the main room and a second little TV in the bedroom, as well as WiFi. There is no kitchen, but there is a beverage cooler, washer/dryer, iron, ironing board, microwave, coffee machine, coffee & tea, popcorn, condiments, serving supplies, and a private patio. There is a driveway exclusive to the Suite which leads to the private entrance but most Guests prefer to park on the street which, unlike most Sausalito roads, is wide and flat. Some cars which are low to the ground (like my litttle convertible) can't cross the crest of the sidewalk, so it's good that there is ample street parking. It is one beautiful floor, approximately 650 square feet, with an entrance off its own patio with two tables (the umbrellas in the photo were destroyed by storms...twice and are no longer there). There isn't a pool or luscious landscaping (thanks to the drought, the lawn has reverted to a field), just a restful and private enclave. I do my best to juggle the check-in and check-out time needs of the Guests, looking for a compromise between them to allow enough time for a thorough cleaning. It's a half-block off Bridgeway (Sausalito's main road), five stoplights to Highway 101 (five minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and less than an hour from the wine country) with a bus stop at the corner and off-street parking. A private driveway leads to your front door (if you don't have a low-slung car like I do). It's within walking distance of the Post Office, Grocery, Tennis Courts, Schoonmaker Beach, Banks and Restaurants. Just minutes to SF and a short drive to the Redwoods, Beaches, and Wine Country. It is one mile to the Golden Gate Ferry which goes to downtown SF and The Blue & Gold Ferry which goes to Fisherman's Wharf. It's a great getaway. Feel free to ask any questions.
The Suite is two blocks from an upscale supermarket and walking distance to a dozen restaurants, from Mexican to Chinese to French casual. Within one mile, there are over a dozen; Italian, Mexican, Chinese, American, Thai...and Sushi Ran, one of the most-awarded Japanese restaurants in California.

NOVEMBER 2017: Kathy: “This spot was perfect. The neighborhood felt safe and boasts many lovely spots for a meal. The lodging was sparkling clean and exactly as described. Beds were comfortable, plenty of linens, bathroom boasted hairdryer, shower gel/shampoo/conditioner dispenser. Lots of tour guidebooks and reading materials on site. Wifi worked perfectly. Electric lock system meant not worrying about keys. There is a market within walking distance on Clement to stock up on necessities.”
JANUARY 2018: Fernanda & Family - We had a great time at Christine's place. This place is beautiful, comfortable, neat, clean, well kept, quiet, well equipped and the location is excellent. The neighborhood is quiet. It was a very comfortable place for my family. We always found a parking space nearby (within a block or two). It has markets, restaurants and shopping nearby. You can tell Christine makes an effort to make her guests feel at home, we found maps, city guides, books, restaurant menus, and all sorts of info that made our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this place!! San Francisco Registration: STR-(ON-FILE) Accommodations: Charming 2 bedroom with private entrance in San Francisco's Richmond District. We can accommodate 6 guests (1 queen, 1 queen, 1 sofa bed - 2 small children or 1 adult). Access to fully equipped Kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. Free daily and overnight street parking (guests should observe signs posted on each street regarding street cleaning schedules and parking restrictions). Neighborhood: Walk a few blocks to the Presidio and Kid-Friendly Parks. The Golden Gate Park is 5 blocks away and offers many festivals throughout the year, including: Bluegrass Festival, Raggae in the Park and Outside Lands. Great Dining and Shopping. The Richmond district offers a diverse culinary experience at prices that are more affordable than other parts of the city. The Clement Street Farmer's Market, on Sunday mornings, offers a great selection of fresh local produce and gourmet food selections. Public Transportation: Public transportation is within a 1 to 3 block walking distance. The closest transit lines are the 1 - California, the 38 - Geary, the 2 - Clement and the 28 - Daly City. We offer a clean, comfortable place in one of the worlds most popular destinations at a great value. When we are home, we can have as much or as little interaction as you'd like. Don't hesitate to ask if you need anything The Richmond district offers a diverse culinary experience at prices that are more affordable than other parts of the city. During your stay you will have a more realistic native San Franciscan experience than the touristy areas of the city. National Geographic Best Trips of 2015 lists: The Presidio, San Francisco (we are located right next to The Presidio & 5 minutes from The Golden Gate Bridge) From Spanish Conquistadores to Star Wars If the San Francisco Peninsula resembles a forearm ending in a fist, then the Presidio is the topmost knuckle-by-the-Bay. The virile park of viridian woods and knockout vistas can make travelers forget its original function was for war, not Instagram. To San Franciscans, it's both muse and playground—with the latest addition being the newly reopened Officers' Club, reimagined as a local hub for exhibits, performances, and dining. Established by Spanish conquistadores in 1776, the military garrison of Saint Francis and its 2.3 square miles defended the bay from any invaders tempted by the riches of Alta California. For the next 218 years, soldiers stood guard against the machinations of empires. But the English, Russian, Japanese, and Klingons—Star Trek's Starfleet Command is headquartered here—never came. The base became a coveted (website hidden) assignment. Officers dream of three things, the saying went: “to make colonel, to die and go to heaven, and to be posted to the Presidio." In 1994, ownership passed from the Army to the National Park Service. Now the Presidio is a self-sustaining trust, thanks to rents paid by one-percenters like George Lucas, whose Lucasfilms office here blessed with a Yoda sculpture on a fountain. (Critics prefer sculptor Andy Goldsworthy's nearly hundred-foot-tall “Spire," near the Arguello Gate.) But why nitpick? Instead, savor a hot chocolate after a hike on Crissy Field. Listen for the whiz-whir generated by bikers pumping down Lincoln Boulevard above North Baker Beach's clothing-optional sunbathers. Delight in the eucalyptus-scented footpath called Lovers Lane. The Presidio, young Skywalker! The Force is strong with this one. —Andrew Nelson, @andrewnelson Travel Tips When to Go: April, May, October, and November typically are the best months to visit due to the warm, sunny weather and minimal fog (providing better views of the Golden Gate Bridge). Weekdays are less crowded. How to Get Around: From San Francisco International Airport rent a car, or ride BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to the Embarcadero station. From here (at the corner of Drumm and Market Streets), take the free Presidio shuttle bus (9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m on weekends). Where to Eat or Drink: Housed in the former mess hall, The Commissary at the Presidio serves light breakfasts, eat-in and takeout lunches, and a full dinner menu (reservations recommended). Award-winning chef Traci Des Jardins mainly uses locally sourced ingredients to prepare the Spanish-influenced California cuisine (salt cod fritters, Marin Sun Farms burgers, and roasted chicken with Marcona almonds and dates). Most seating is communal. To watch the chefs prepare your meal, request a (email hidden) surrounding the open kitchen. What to Buy: At the Presidio, Warming Hut Bookstore and Café, located at the west end of Crissy Field; the Golden Gate Bridge Pavilion; and the Fort Point Bookstore have the best selection of Presidio-related souvenirs, gear, and books. Practical Tip: To stay warm (and avoid looking like a tourist) wear long pants and several light layers if visiting the Presidio in summer (June-August) when the weather is typically cold and foggy. What to Read Before You Go: Set at the Presidio, The Enlisted Men's Club (Running Meter Press, 2014) is the first in a trilogy of military-life novels penned by late author and Vietnam War veteran Gary Reilly. Helpful Links: Presidio of San Francisco and San Francisco Travel Fun Fact: Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the executive order authorizing the internment of Japanese Americans was issued at the Presidio. At the same time that their family members were being relocated to internment camps, Japanese-American linguist soldiers were training at the Presidio for critical military language duties such as translation and negotiation. The soldiers' training site, which reopened in 2013 as the Military Intelligence Service (MIS) Historic Learning Center, is open to the public Saturdays and Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Insider Tip From Andrew Nelson: Got a yen for nine pins? The old army base supports its own late bowling alley. Presidio Bowl is open every day and until 2 a.m. on the weekends. (Note: In the other direction, we are 5 minutes to Golden Gate Park, another National Park with museums, gardens, etc. Our home is located 2 blocks to The Presidio & about 8 blocks to Golden Gate Park).

  • Extremely comfortable beds and very quiet neighborhood. Very accommodating hosts. Great location; near public transportation. Only drawback is limited on street parking.

  • We stayed here for 3 nights. Entrance hall smells staled. The apartment is simple but ok. The beds are great, because we're with 5,1 had to sleep in the livingroom. The refrigerator makes a lot of noise during the night. We find it a pitty we didn't have a change to actual meet Jon&christine . We only came to the apartment to sleep so that's fine. Downtown SanFran is a 30 min drive by bus. You can take the 38 or 1 to come there. For a good cup of coffee go to Peet's coffee & tea at the end of the street across the street.

  • Jon was a great host. Very accommodating and kind. The apartment is just what you need to stay in San Francisco. 2 bedrooms with comfy beds, sofa bed, a lot of cushions, blankets, equipped kitchen, nice restroom, and cute backyard. The neighborhood is nice and safe. The bus stop is just down street. Parking on the streets is difficult so consider time to find a close spot. I will definitely will stay here again.

  • What a wonderful stay we had at Jon and Christine's apartment. Everything we could possibly need, and more, was provided. We found the location of this apartment great with a variety of cafes, restaurants, shops, and bus routes within easy walking distance. When the taxi we booked to get to the airport was a no-show Jon was right on hand to help us out by organising another taxi and waiting to make sure it arrived.

Located in the Bayview district, the apartment sits on a park with views of the bay and some of the best weather in San Francisco. The unique area is known for its growing art and food scene, diverse population, and a low key vibe that locals love.
  • You need to stay here if you are coming to San Francisco, Kristin is a fantastically welcoming host and is super responsive. This place is immaculately clean and beautifully furnished. Parking is super easy or you can catch nearby public transport into the city. We had a wonderful time here and can't wait to visit again.

  • Die Unterkunft ist sehr schön und modern eingerichtet. Perfekt für eine Familie oder für 2 Paare. Die Liebe fürs Detail ist in der ganzen Wohnung erkennbar und die Tips von Kristin sind wunderbar!

  • Kristin’s place was great! Perfect location. Parking was only tough the Thursday night we got there but only because there was street cleaning Friday morning and we checked in around 10pm. Other than that there is plenty of street parking. Totally loved the decorations of the flat. Kristin was a great host and very responsive. The only problem was that we did find little bugs and a few cockroaches in the kitchen but sometimes bugs are out of your control. Everything else was spotless and clean. Not even dust around the house and furniture. The beds and bathrooms were clean and very comfortable. The bathroom is a bit small incase anyone is picky about bathrooms. But it worked well for my sister and our boyfriends. Very cozy. Totally worth it. Thanks Kristin!

  • Kristin was absolutely a fantastic host. She was able to accommodate us on short notice and was wonderful. If you know SF then you already know that parking is at a premium anywhere. Not so with Kristin, we were able to park directly in front of the apt. and unload our belongings. The place was spacious, quiet and well appointed. This is probably the best deal in town. We can't wait to come back. Thank You once more.

  • Lovely apartment. More spacious than the pictures show. Classy decor and floors. Plants and backyard added a welcoming feel. Hosts were gracious with a useful directory of nearby businesses, and the free pizza was welcome.

  • Kristin's place was super hip and the decor was amazing! We loved the spot and although (as she states in the about) it isn't super close to downtown you can definitely catch a quick uber, train, or drive in. I loved the little Bayview area, there was a Ritual Coffee nearby. The space was cute, large, clean, she communicates very well, and the beds were comfy! Would definitely recommend!

    Laura2018-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • While the location is outside of the host's scope, guests should be warned that we were told by our taxi driver (having lived in San Francisco for 29 years) that the location is unsafe and it's my opinion that it's not family friendly. The place is otherwise bright and clean and check-in was easy.

Please note: a 12% tax has to be collected on the nightly rate to comply with local regulations. Details are in the space description on this page.
The apartment is completely private, with its own entrance and staircase going downhill from the street (28 steps). It has one bedroom with a very comfortable queen bed, a walk-in closet and views from the south-facing window. There is a full-size washer/dryer in the unit, an ironing board and iron. The living-room/kitchen area has french doors opening onto a 7ft x 27ft deck with similar south-facing views as the bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave/hood, an induction two-burner, a small toaster oven, an integrated dishwasher and a stainless steel fridge/freezer. Other small appliances, such as a toaster, a sandwich press, rice cooker, blender etc. are provided. The bathroom has a large shower, a Toto (Japanese-style) washlet and a hairdryer. It's a very welcoming and comfortable space and it can accommodate longer stays. I strive for green living and avoid harsh cleaning agents whenever there is a good alternative. Street parking. To make life easier for everyone in the street I only allow one guest car. If you have two, please let me know before you want to book and I will let you know if I can accommodate you. The house has a view over Homestead Valley and is close to Whole Foods and downtown Mill Valley. Public paths and steps to downtown are nearby. Wireless high speed internet is included. A HDTV and Blu Ray/DVD player with access to Netflix, Pandora and other services is included, as well as a collection of DVD's available for use at no charge (we can have Netflix deliver DVD's on request too). We have an Xfinity digital starter package and I am happy to add other TV services or channels for longer stays on request. On-demand shows and films are extra and if you add anything that will be billed to us you must let us know and the cost will be charged as an extra service through Airbnb. There is a turntable with an eclectic collection of vintage vinyl (they are also available for purchase), portable speakers if you prefer to listen to music on your phone, a guitar and a couple of other instruments. For coffee lovers there is a burr grinder, a french press, filter coffee maker and an Italian stove top 'moka'. And a milk frother if you want to make cappuccino. We provide coffee beans so you can grind them to fit whatever method you choose. Please let me know if I can answer any questions regarding the house or the area. Viewing can be arranged easily, since I work from home. Additional cleaning will be arranged every 2 weeks for longer stays and will be added to the total at time of reservation. To comply with local regulations there will be an additional 12% tax applied to the nightly rate for stays under 30 days. This will be collected at check-in and in cash, to avoid additional Airbnb fees. An inflatable mattress is available on request if two guests are not sharing the same bed.
Residential, quiet neighborhood but with easy access to Miller Avenue and downtown shopping, restaurants and bus stops. You will be surrounded by trees, hiking trails and views. You will be immersed in nature but still be very close to all the amenities.
  • What a wonderful place to stay. My partner and I love California and, having decided to return to the San Francisco area for an extended period, chose Alessandra's apartment in Mill Valley for our base. The apartment was in an ideal location, close to bars, restaurants and shops and a short drive to Sausalito, Tiburon, Mount Tam and Muir Woods. If you are feeling energetic, you can also walk to downtown Mill Valley, where there are more restaurants and bars. The apartment is cozy and comfortable and the blankets in the walk-in wardrobe were a welcome touch when the temperature dropped in the evening. Although Alessandra was unable to meet us on our arrival at the property, excellent detailed instructions and photos on how to get there and where to park were given in advance, so we were able to find the property without any problems. And the day after our arrival, Alessandra visited us to ensure we had everything we needed, showing us how things worked and offering suggestions on things to do in the area during our stay. All communication prior to our stay was excellent and Alessandra responded promptly if I had any queries. All in all, our stay was excellent and we would recommend this to anyone looking for somewhere in this area.

  • Stayed here for a weekend. 5 minutes from downtown Mill Valley, 20 minutes to golden gate bridge, less than an hour from Napa/Sonoma wine country. Great, clean space with very up to date appliances. The patio deck has nice views and a hammock to relax and drink wine. Street parking was easy the entire time we were there. Check in was easy and the host made sure to contact us and make sure everything was fine. Highly recommended.

  • Alessandra's place is exactly as presented on AirBnb and very clean / tidy. We had a wonderful time - thank you!

  • Loved our stay, want to go back! Awesome house, location on a beautiful hill with great views, interior and amenities perfect. Alessandra and Dan were super helpful, with info on area, checkin, checkout follow up.. Highly recommend.

  • Alessandra's place is wonderful, a perfect place to stay if you are looking to stay outside the city. My husband and I stayed for our anniversary trip and Alessandra was very accommodating to all of our needs and very helpful in every step of the process! The views are gorgeous and the place is very cozy and inviting. We would definitely stay here again!

  • We had a great stay. The unit is beautifully decorated with everything you could need. Wonderful views. Highly recommend. And Alessandra was very easy to work with!

  • We had an absolutely marvelous time staying in Alessandra's lovely apartment. The space is immaculate, beautifully furnished and stocked with everything we could possibly need in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. The views are exceptional and it is so peaceful and quiet, that we felt like we were in a secret hideaway. When asked, we requested raw milk and lo and behold, Alessandra delivered! She even provided eggs and bread for staying-in meals. So thoughtful. We can't wait to return very soon!!

  • The stay was amazing, the view in the morning looking across the valley at the hillsides was serene. Thank you Alessandra. There we're a few touches that I rarely see, let's start with the cleanliness. It had a four seasons white glove shine to it, no dirty dishes, table - which was glass - had no smudges, the bathroom perfect, linens fresh and crisp and soft. I just had to lean back and say ahhhhh... Then the ability to walk to Whole Foods in 10 minutes. Neighborhood had that quite friendly feel to it. The house sits on a bluff...and in the morning...I look out the door and see a Doe with her baby fawn about 3 feet away. I took pictures, they seemed unaware or unafraid of my presence. The overall area of Mill Valley is a blissful change from San Francisco, one feels like they are in another part of the state. A short drive downtown gets one to great restaurants, a cute hip cafe (Equator) to sip morning tea or coffee and watch the locals congregate. Randomly caught an evening comedy show at the Throckmorton Theatre (intimate and entertaining). Heading back "home" to Alessandra's place was like going home. Quite, safe, fresh air, and that instant feeling of comfort. Again, thank you Alessandra, we'll be back.

This lovely, self-contained suite will feel like your own private hideaway, with a beautiful terrace overlooking the city and surrounding greenery, and access to all the neighborhood cafes, restaurants and shopping you'll need to make your stay perfect. Although it's on the 4th floor with many stairs to climb, the view and privacy will make the effort well worth it.
This lovely 1-bedroom suite in Cole Valley has a bathroom, small kitchenette and private deck overlooking the city and takes up the entire top floor of our classic Victorian house. It is decorated with soothing earth-tone fabrics and charming seascape paintings, and will be a relaxing retreat whether you're in town for work or vacation. I will mention that to get to this lovely apartment does involve lots of stairs to climb, some of them up a steep spiral staircase, since it's on the 4th floor and set above the street. But the view and light are well worth the climb. (See notes on PARKING in last paragraph below) It has one extremely comfortable queen-sized bed and chaise with terrific views of the city, as well as a twin bed tucked away in a nook in the bedroom. It has a living room with a twin-size daybed that has a pop-up twin trundle bed underneath, to comfortably sleep two people. It also has a small kitchenette, a desk, free wifi and cable TV. The large deck also has magnificent views of the city. It is situated in lovely Cole Valley, and is a short walk to Golden Gate Park (great for running, walking, or just exploring beautiful gardens and nature), the Haight-Ashbury, and steps from public transportation (1 block to the bus stop, 2 blocks to the N-Judah train stop; we do not have a garage) and very close to the charming restaurants, shops and services of Cole Valley and the Haight (including a short stroll to Whole Foods and other natural food stores). This apartment is perfect if you're in town for work or just in town to relax and visit! In terms of getting to the apartment from the airport, you can take an Uber or cab here, a bus, the Super Shuttle or the MUNI train (it's right on the N line-- towards Ocean Beach if you're coming from downtown/ Civic Center; the N-Judah if you're coming from the other direction). Getting here with public transportation is very inexpensive and very easy. You just take BART to the Civic Center stop from the airport, and transfer to the MUNI "N" line, going toward Ocean Beach. Our stop is Stanyan Street (at the intersection of Stanyan and Carl streets). We are extremely close to multiple MUNI stops (San Francisco's public transportation system), so public transportation is easy, cheap and plentiful. However, if you're driving, please note that while we don't have a parking spot, it's a fairly easy neighborhood to find free parking in. However, while parking is free, it is not unlimited. They ticket every two hours from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, so you need to either move your car by 10 am (not too hard, there are usually spots to be found, and most people start their day by then anyway), or park in a nearby parking lot (Kezar Parking Lot is within a 10 minute walk down the street on Stanyan near Frederick Street, and you can pay to park all day for ~$20-~25 for 24 hours, should you want to leave your car there for the day). There are also some streets nearby (Rivoli street, for example) where you can park round the clock for ~48 hours for free and they don't ticket, but you have to search a bit for those spots as everyone wants them!
Strolling Cole Valley’s tree-lined streets often leads to a postcard-worthy afternoon. It's easy to spend a day enjoying Cole Valley's idyllic vibe, admiring the neighborhood’s Victorian architecture and snacking at its cozy cafes and charming restaurants. Cole Valley’s proximity to Golden Gate Park and Haight-Ashbury promises countless options for wholesome fun and eclectic entertainment.
  • This place is so San Francisco! It was a perfect experience for me and my family. Quaint, cozy and comfortable. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the SF area. The views were amazing and the patio was a perfect spot for a wine and cheese happy hour before a wonderful dinner with family. Stacy was very obliging and helpful immediately upon arrival. The apartment was everything it was listed to be and more! Thanks for having us!

  • Stacey's place was awesome. The views from the private deck and bedroom were fantastic. I have been to San Francisco a few times, but have never stayed on this side of town. Now it will probably be my go to area. There are so many great places walkable from her house, and we had absolutely no problem finding parking. Stacey was very accommodating, and her place was immaculately clean. I hope to stay here again!

    Michael2014-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Location, location, location! Very convenient to Golden Gate Park and the Haight, which are two of my favorite places in SF. And the view from the apartment and the deck are beyond compare. Stacey was very responsive and gave us all of the information that we needed. One of the aspects of the apartment that I thought was cool was the way that lots of beds were squeezed into the apartment in clever ways. In addition to the bed in the bedroom, there is a twin tucked away in the closet that would be perfect for a child or teenager, and the daybed in the living/kitchen area also sleeps two. The kitchen is pretty much a kitchenette, but does have a full oven/stovetop. I think it is perfect for making breakfast or a very simple meal, but I wouldn't try to host Thanksgiving here.

  • Stacy a été une hôte super. Dispo à notre arrivée car nous n'avions pas le bon code pour récupérer les clés. Appart super propre, bien placé. Il y a tous les produits de 1ère nécessité. Un très bon séjour à SF

  • We really enjoyed this place. We were with a family of five. The children (14, 14 and 8) slept in the sleeping room; we took the couch. The top roof gave a splendid view of SF in the early mornings and the late nights. The kitchen was fully equiped and we prepared some good breakfasts and a dinner. Shops are very close, as is public transport downtown. Although the owner was not at home we were in close contact.

  • The top floor apartment was a perfect space for 2 couples. We had lots of space and were very comfortable during our stay.beautiful views even from the bathroom, great location for exploring a wonderful neighborhood.loved the restaurants.walked to golden gate park, twin peaks, etc.a definite repeat.thanks, Stacey for a beautiful staycation.

  • Fantastic view over downtown San Francisco from this apartment, also from the patio outside. Location seemed a bit out of the way on the map but ended up being perfect. Quiet, but only 15 minutes to downtown taking a MUNI (tram), nearest stop 2 blocks away. Golden Gate Park down the street and nearby cafes good also. Very smooth booking, collecting keys etc. Stacey very friendly, happy to assist with any enquiries. Comfortable bed, kitchenette well-equipped. Large bathroom. Good-sized living area with couch, cable TV. Wireless internet. Handy folder with information re getting around, restaurants etc.

Jay's place was exactly as pictured, and very welcoming and comfortable. The neighborhood is very quiet -- perfect for a peaceful night of rest. Additionally, Jay's place is a short walk from two very nice city parks, as well as a strip of boutiques and restaurants. It's the best of both worlds!

Jeffrey was a wonderful host. Staying up to let us in and show us around super late. The place was beautiful, clean and just the refuge we sought after a long flight. Plus the area was lovely too.

Kate's rental is easy to get to and comfortable for a San Francisco stay. Kate is friendly and efficient and also gives you privacy even though her family lives directly above the rental area. Her patio area is lovely and amenities friendly.
