Everything was perfect. Anna is one of the best hosts ever. She took care of us from the very beginning - brought to the house as we lost when we arrived in the night, in our trulli waiti forus breakfast for the next day with homemade jam! The area is beautiful, we recommend Alberobello and Matera. Anna is a lovable person. Bravo for her !!! Thank you.

  • Wonderful! Fantastyczne miejsce dla ceniących spokój, ciszę, kontakt z mieszkańcami. Rozciągające się wokół oliwne gaje czarują swoim urokiem. Gościnność Any i jej mamy to dodatkowy atut tego urokliwego miejsca. Szczególnie polecamy Materę, Poligniano a Mare, Arbelobello, a najlepszą bazą wypadową będzie trullo Any. Domek i otoczenie naprawdę robią wrażenie. Domek jest wyposażony we wszystkie niezbędne sprzęty i przybory, jest przewiewny i wygodny. Czuliśmy się w nim jak skrzaty w baśniowej krainie. Szczerze polecamy to miejsce. Anna dba o swoich gości i zawsze służy radą i pomocą.

  • Anna’s trulli is a really special place to stay when visiting Puglia. It’s perfectly placed for day trips or simply for having a restful break. Anna’s decorating skills are awesome and she uses finds from around the family farm to transform into amazing decor. It started to get cool at night while we were there and heating was promptly organised through an amazing eco heating system using olive byproducts. The olive trees in the area are really beautiful and the villages charming. We can’t rate this stay highly enough as the trulli itself was clean, comfortable, and the little touches like Tonia’s homemade jam made us feel at home. Anna gave us tips for places to eat - restaurant Santa Anna was excellent and reasonably priced.

    Shannon2018-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you get a chance to stay with Anna and her lovely family, do it! The Trulli have everything you need and the setting is truly magical. The weather wasn't great during our stay but we had a great time nonetheless. The town of Cisternino is very close by car and is charming to wander around and eat. Anna's recommendations in that respect were excellent and we loved the Bombettes (and food generally) at the butcher/restaurant. Thanks to you and your family, Anna, for letting people experience your special corner of the world.

    Gabrielle2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very special place. Great accommodation, great hospitality and in beautiful country. Visitors need to allow plenty of time to explore this fascinating region. And, if you can, to take a lesson in cooking the cuisine of Puglia!

    John2017-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • SPECTACULAR. I can’t rave enough about this place. It is a dream come true. Ana and her family are so inviting and we felt at home. The trullo was spotless and beyond accommodating. If you are there, make sure you check out Almond down the street, you will not regret it.

    Aurelia2018-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Anna's Trulli was lovely, it is surrounded by fields and olive groves. There is a lovely sunny terrace and an outdoor oven (which we didn't use because of the time of year!). Anna was very friendly and there was milk, coffee and breakfast food for our arrival. Latter during our sstay her mother very kindly brought us some more delicious homemade jam and a basket of freshly laid eggs. The heating was on for our arrival and we had a fire in the evenings so it was very cosy. We would really recommend staying at Anna's.

Escape civilization to this incredible and peaceful getaway! Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology on your own private deck surrounded by pristine and untouched nature just a short drive away from LA.
This is the personal Airstream of a nature-loving Malibu designer who built it as his personal getaway from his busy hectic schedule. Stripped down to its bare aluminum studs, the airstream has been redesigned into a large studio with three large frameless glass panels that slide open to a huge cantilevered deck with unrivaled views of the pristine Santa Monica mountains rolling down to the Pacific ocean below. Lounge in our luxury extra thick wool rugs and cotton poufs, drive down to surf one of Malibu's best breaks or go hike Sandstone Peak (Santa Monica's highest mountain). But whatever you do, make sure not to miss the incredible sunsets off our deck. At night, watch the milky way appear and count the constellations above or the moon reflect on the ocean below. And if the wind is right, listen to the sounds of the crashing waves travel up the canyon or even the seals barking down below. And then at dawn, if you're lucky with the morning fog, wake up above the clouds like you are the only person in this planet. VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT CLICK ON THE AIRBNB LINK FOR DIRECTIONS as it might take you to the wrong location. Only use the accurate directions provided on our itinerary. If you don't you might get lost and we are not responsible if you do not follow our easy and foolproof directions. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS LISTING if you are afraid of nature or its creatures. Understand you are surrounded by thousands of completely untouched nature. You are very likely to hear (or see) coyotes, owls, seals, roadrunners and bunnies. There is a bobcat in the area but these are usually very skittish. There are a mice in the Santa Monica mountains. About once a month, a guest will complain that they saw a mouse. Said mouse might come into the airstream if food is left outside the fridge. We do not offer refunds if a mouse comes into the airstream but we do have 4 traps around the airstream so the odds are heavily stacked against the mice. In three years we have yet to ever see a rattle snake near the airstream so the area is definitely not prone to them. This listing is weather dependent. If there is a high chance of rain scheduled during your stay we reserve the right to cancel the reservation due to potential slippery road conditions and the fact that we have to store all the expensive furniture inside the airstream. The beauty of this experience lies in seeing infinite views and yet no trace of humankind. Sleeping with the doors open, under the milky-way while hearing the ocean waves crashing below and the occasional seal barking in the distance or coyote howling for its pack. Our guests have the most special nights here. Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology :-)
Circle x ranch, county line beach, matador beach, zuma as well as many other hikes are all less than 10mn away.
  • Incredible.

    Lauren2018-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • A one of a kind stay. Great views and seclusion for a perfect night or two away from everything.

    Joshua2018-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • The location was perfect, very secluded.. you feel like you are above the clouds. The airstream is very well kept. I would definitely come back, probably in the summer when its not as cold.

  • Amazing location and views! Bit of a trek in the car to get there but worth it. Enjoyed the stay although too windy a lot of the time to be outside and enjoy the views. Place was comfortable but a lot of money!

Hideout is a unique eco stay for adventurous travelers hidden in mountains of Gunung Agung volcano - far from the city life. All-bamboo house is situated at beautiful riverside among rice fields. Get off the grid and experience authentic life of Balinese village. Check Instagram feed (@hideoutbali) for the announcement of new vacancies. Hideout Bali https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/5904771 Hideout Lightroom https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/18761574 Hideout Beehive https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/24043648
This experience is not like any other, Hideout is not some fancy hotel, it is truly an adventurous experience, rustic and authentic right in the middle of Balinese village life. Hideout is a perfect place for long-time travelers, lovers of nature, a spiritual-minded people, trekking-lovers, backpackers, artists, musicians, and eco-enthusiast to have their own unique Bali experience. We are most happy with environmentally thinking guests, who treat this little bamboo home with love and care. We would like to share with you some of our guest's experience as quick PROs & CONs when you consider staying in this little Hideout. PROs - Solitude. The nearest village is 500 meters far. - Fully equipped kitchen. You are your own master chef. - Scooter for free. - Music. Stereo system, ukulele, drum! - Hideout is also a shelter for kittens, which is super cute and cuddly. You can also meet our friendly Hoki dog if we are in the garden with her. - You can experience authentic Balinese lifestyle, cultural habits and observe many wonderful things in nature. CONs - You can’t lock the bamboo house, there are no secure doors. But there is a safe box installed. - From time to time, villagers need to use the river for bathing (naked), washing clothes and performing ceremonies. - Hideout is part of local nature, our cleaning standards are at the highest, but that doesn't stop occasional insect, frog or mouse from visiting the house. Please consider this before booking. - Did you know that a spider can make a new web in under 1 hour? With our biggest efforts to keep the houses perfect and insect free, you have to expect that there will be some spiders, some bugs and some mosquitos. That is just nature and we can't do anything more for it. :) - The Internet is very poor and sometimes not working at all. We recommend being prepared for the off-the-grid experience. - There are cats and dogs living on the property and visiting Hideouts daily. They are all vaccinated and well behaved. Don´t book Hideouts, if you have an allergy or if you don´t want to be close to the animals. - We are not a hotel, we don't offer hotel services or 24/7 reception. We are true Airbnb experience. :) If you want a daily clean-up, please let us know when you check-in. Because the house is located near river and rice fields you will be in touch with nature. That's why is Hideout most suitable for guest which enjoy animals and are not afraid of a little bit of the wildlife. :) If you have any questions regarding living animals, please ask us in advance. The building has two floors, on the first floor, you can find a neat, fully equipped kitchen, cozy living/relaxing area (with extra hanging hammock), wardrobe with safety box, bathroom, and entrance to the outdoor shower. On the second floor, there is a spacious bedroom, providing king size bed with mosquito net (and extra bed 140cm - no mosquito net) all possible to accommodate up to 4 adults if needed. Right in front of the unique triangular window, there is large lounge bean bag for reading, cuddling and relaxing, the perfect place for meditation or playing a musical instrument, all with direct view to the shimmering river. Bamboo is well-known for its temperature stability, thanks to natural ventilation, there is no need for AC or a fan. There are no secure doors in the bamboo house, you can't really lock the house, don't be afraid though this is a very safe area. Recently we had an amazing time cooperating with SUKU Home. We are very grateful for this happy cooperation, thanks to the amazing collective behind SUKU Home products, our guests have the pleasure to experience their super smooth Bamboo beddings in Hideout. Ultra soft and delicate bedding made from 100% Bamboo Rayon, carefully & individually hand-dyed using a traditional batik technique. Hand sewn and made with love. Bamboo-derived rayon is softer than any high thread count cotton. They also have naturally antibacterial properties, making them great for anyone with sensitive skin. These sheets will keep you cool even in the hottest night. No AC required. :)
Hideout is in walking distance from a resort where you can have a lovely dinner in the restaurant with unforgettable view to Gunung Agung. You can easily reach many traditional small shops / warung. Beware that the nearest ATM is from a local bank, it only accepts Mastercard. International ATM is about 35 minutes by car away - do come prepared! There are so many things to explore around - by foot or by bike. Just to mention.. you can go trekking through the rice fields, you can climb Gunung Agung, visit Tirta Gangga, Ujung Temple, go snorkeling or diving, visit night market, visit shaman or local temples, go to experience Pura Besakih, have a wild day of rafting and many more.
  • We loved it here at Hideout, so different and immensely relaxing. The ride around the rice fields passing the most friendly locals is something I'll never forget. Falling asleep to the sounds of the river, and watching the world around us was inspiring. The only downfall was that the phone that is meant to be used to contact Wayan or any emergency services wasn't working when we were there, it wasn't a massive issue for us as we only wanted to find out if we could have dinner organised by Wayan as previous guests raved about his cooking - so no real drama having to find dinner for ourselves although could prove to be very dangerous if we had an emergency. A fantastic way to get away from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne!

  • Amazing place, beautiful, location is great to because it's not in a touristy area! Very close to Mt Agung & rice fields. Free scooter hire was fantastic. Kiki the kitten was adorable! Definiately a place to chill out and relax. Do take into consideration though that it is a very nature friendly place, so if you're terrified of bugs or insects, geckos or lizards and even spiders, maybe it's not for you? I am also terrified of spiders but none came inside :) the shower was amazing too! Would definitely stay here again :)

    Elsie2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely breathtaking. Although it has a "romantic" atmosphere, I spent three days with my best girlfriend and we had such a wonderful time cooking our own meals, playing cards, swimming in the river and doing yoga out on the front yard. Even though the wifi was not working, we didn't care. We had minimal problems with electricity and water- and every time we had any sort of request, the house helper named Wayan was incredibly sweet and helpful. I would suggest staying here for any reason you can come up with. It's serene beauty will put you at peace, and if you crave to get away the free motorbike will give you the freedom to explore the small villages and eat at some of the local Warungs. I can't imagine a better place to be solo as well. We had such a great time! Thank you so much Alena for building this beautiful oasis! It was one of the highlights of visiting Bali for us!

    Olivia2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Eco Bamboo Home has been so awesome to us! It was just only a night but the memorable stay will stay with us forever. Alena and Nyoman have been great in making sure we are comfortable and safe! We will definitely come back again!

  • What a spectacular time we had. I'd seen pictures of the house two years ago and my dream was to stay in it. Returning to Indonesia for the first time in 40 yrs, since I went to highschool in Jakarta, I was concerned about how Bali may have changed. My friend said it had changed but I could still find "my Bali", I just needed to look for it in different places. Thank you so much for letting me reenter my past, along with some of my classmates who also came to Bali for a reunion, and rediscover the magic of my memories. Thank you for an amazing staff, perfect in every single instance. Thank you for your graciousness, your kindness, and for your home. Ceasar and the entire crew were incredible. Absolutely incredible.

Located in the coffee region, in the Andean mountains of Colombia, South America, a charming cabana made from bamboo, with a great view and a "sendero" or pathway through the bamboo forest which criss-crosses our 5 acre organic farm, leading down to a stream. A place to relax and commune with nature.
Surrounded by beautiful rainforest plants, strategically placed for privacy, with an outdoor shower in a garden. Commune with nature, listen to crickets and night and birds in the morning. Situated on a small organic farm. We grow tropical fruits and trees, flowers, with aloe vera as our main crop. There is an enchanting pathway through our bamboo forest, leading down to a mountain stream and a small waterfall. Near many coffee region tours and attractions, including our own organic farming workshops, visiting a nearby bee farm where our neighbor propagates bees in danger of extinction, local coffee tours, butterfly emporium, hang gliding, zip lining, white water rafting, horseback riding, hiking, visiting nearby historic towns and world heritage sites.
We are situated in the heart of the coffee region in the Andean mountains in Colombia. We are in "Vereda La Pradera" neighborhood, near the small town of "El Caimo", 20 minutes from Armenia and 20 minutes from the airport, by car. Close enough for comfort and easy access, far enough from the hustle of traffic and city noise that you can commune with nature. Sleep to the sound of the crickets and awaken to the sound of birds.
  • The place is jsut great, very cozy and clean and just exceptional. I loved the atmosphere there and I loved the sound of birds when you wake up and you realise you are in the middle of the nature. Yudy, the host is so much helpful. I loved her breakfasts and she is very reliable! Many thanks to Hernando for taking us everywhere we wished by his car. Thanks to him we could visit the places around. If you wish to relax and detach from busy life, this is the perfect place! The shower is spectacular, outdoor, among bananas trees!! This place is just worth to visit even for a short stay!! Muchas Gracias !!!

  • WOW!! This place is amazing, and it is so relaxing! Absolutely perfect for couples looking for a romantic place to stay.

  • We had such a wonderful stay at the cabana; from the beautiful surroundings to the warm hospitality, it was all fantastic. For a great outing, do the all-day coffee tour with Experiencia Cafetera!

    Dulcey2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, peaceful place surrounded by birds and vegetation and the bungalow is as lovely as in the pictures. The location is quite isolated and so most recommended for those visiting by car, and if you plan to arrange for services, trips or meals from the farm I suggest writing well in advance to ensure the service is as desired.

    Karly Marie2018-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful, secluded, retreat in the coffee growing region! Private and serene, the cabana is nestled with views into the surrounding lush forest. Open the windows and you feel like you are staying in a treehouse. Secluded, but convenient to the main house and surrounding walks into the jungle down to a stream with waterfalls. Let their poodle, Paco, be your enthusiastic guide! Yudy and her colleagues were wonderful hosts. Warm, welcoming and very thoughtful. Start each day with a hearty breakfast, friendly conversation, and very helpful recommendations of things to see and activities to do, places to eat in the region. All provided with smiles, hugs and laughs. Make sure you take in the guided tour of the coffee harvesting to grinding process (farm to cup) ! Amazing views of steep mountain planting to harvesting, with stories of the lives and passions of these coffee farmers. Take in the beauty and warmth of the surrounding small towns, and public squares. Of course, relaxing over a cup of coffee, or two! One observation, the finca is a few miles into a private area. The last ~ mile is a narrow dirt road. While it appears harder, cars can easily make it, but be mindful of not getting too far off the road when passing oncoming vehicles. We highly recommend this wonderful retreat to any couples visiting the region!

  • First I want to thank Victoria for putting up with all my questions and emails, and helping us when we got lost : ) This was such a fabulous place. The cabana is just awesome and so gorgeous. Such a nice idea you've had building such a peaceful place in the middle of the jungle : ) Yudy was amazingly helpful, courteous, kind, and such a great host. She shared with us so much information and took up her time to be so helpful. This place wouldn't have been the same without Yudy. Her daughter, Natalia was also so kind and made you feel so welcomed. I'd highly recommend this place and hope to go back one day soon. : )

The Joshua Tree House is a two bed two bath 1949 hacienda located 10 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA. This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by over 100 Joshua Trees and a starry night sky.
Instagram: @thejoshuatreehouse (all photos tagged with #thejoshuatreehouse) This house is very close to downtown Joshua Tree with many shops and restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the house. This also means that some sound from the highway can be heard. If you're looking for a completely silent desert experience, we would recommend our other property: The Joshua Tree Casita (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10614974). Please also check that listing if you can't find the dates you're looking for. Welcome to the Joshua Tree House! This hacienda was built in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) With over 100 Joshua Trees on the property, the views from the house are magical. If you're up for it, sunrise on the front porch is incredible. We estimate that some of the larger Joshua Trees on the property are as old as our country! *Mattresses and Bedding by Casper* There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the house, and works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. We can also set up an extra memory foam mattress in the hammock room (has privacy with pocket sliding doors) to accommodate groups of six.
Joshua Tree is a small community made up of musicians, artists, and explorers. In the village you will find locally owned and run restaurants, art galleries, music venues, and vintage shops. There are many wonderful places to visit during your stay at the house including the Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy & Harriet's, the Integratron, Salvation Mountain, the Salton Sea, Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum, Crossroads, BKB Ceramics, and la Copine (a delicious new french restaurant in the desert).

  • Sara replied to my request to book almost immediately - she was very responsive and welcoming. She also sent a beautifully illustrated guide with house rules and recommendations for the area which proved not only to be beautiful, but very thoughtful - just like the home itself. The recommendations were great and we had a wonderful time sampling the local cuisine. As for our stay at the Joshua Tree House, my husband and I only wish we could have stayed longer. The space is a designer's dream, the location is magical, and the hot tub was the icing on the cake. If you are looking to make your vacation to Joshua Tree that much more special, you can't go wrong with The Joshua Tree House!

  • A fantastic, romantic desert getaway perfect for a couple or a small group looking to relax. The home is impeccably styled down to the smallest details - modern, rustic, and open - capturing that special Joshua Tree aesthetic. 5 Stars!!

  • We could not have felt more at home during our stay at the Joshua Tree House! Rich and Sara are two amazingly creative individuals who have built an inspiring and relaxing getaway experience. Going into descriptive details would spoil the surprise, but here is a list of reasons why were coming back: Cozy fire place, amazing hot tub, beautiful sunrise/sunset, comfortable bed, great location, and so many thoughtful details! Thank you for making a home away from home for all to enjoy! We will most certainly be back.

  • This place is magical. I've been wanting to stay here for a while after finding the (Hidden by Airbnb) account last year. I had pretty high expectations and was not disappointed. We couldn't have asked for a better location or more welcoming retreat. Can't wait to come back again!!

    Holly2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sara and Rich went above and beyond to create a desert sanctuary. Their creativity and design in every detail is what makes the Joshua Tree House so special. We can't wait to go back!

Appearing in numerous books on natural building, our cottage is a welcoming and cozy retreat hand sculpted of local, sustainable natural materials located on a lovely acreage with sheep, gardens and orchards.
Our neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. We are a ten minute walk from the beach and a twenty minute walk, in the other direction, to a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce, as well as galleries, a bookstore, and a spa.
  • Hosts Alexis and Manny were so helpful picking us up at the ferry and were available to help with directions and recommendations while we were there. The cottage looked just like it did in the pictures - so cute and charming and cozy. The property itself was also very cool, with sheep and many apple trees. They really did think about everything guests could possibly want, such as the perfectly stocked basket with paper and kindling for fires, fresh eggs in the fridge and amazing banana loaf, and great speakers for listening to music or watching movies on a lap top. The kitchen had all the cooking utensils you would want, tea, olive oil and balsamic for salads, and more. There were many cozy blankets and pillows around the house, and the bed was so comfortable. Mayne Island in general is very quiet and relaxing, and is the perfect place to visit if you really want to disconnect from city life and enjoy nature.

    Sarah2014-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cob cottage was absolutely amazing! It's like stepping right into a hobbit fairytale :) Alexis was very accommodating and communication was always fast and efficient. The fresh eggs, milk and delicious banana bread were all a great treat! Not to mention all the little chicken visitors we had each day :) Can't wait to return to this cozy home!

    Joanna2016-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • I chose to stay here because I was interested in the unique architecture. It was as beautiful as the photos, and the island was worth the detour as well! We had a great time kayaking, hiking, and visiting the island. People were extremely friendly and helpful. Alexis was a welcoming host, always available to offer great suggestions on places to visit and things to do. She left us delicious home baked banana bread and fresh eggs from her chickens. My 8-year old daughter was absolutely enchanted, for her it was a fairy tale cottage. We wished we could stay longer, and hope to come back again.

    Wendy2014-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a magical time at the cottage, it's truly one of a kind! We spent 2 nights and loved every minute. The fresh baked bread and eggs were delicious, and all the other little touches really made it super sweet. We totally recommend spending some time on this cozy little island. You won't be disappointed.

  • The Cob Cottage is a beautiful retreat. Alexis was very on the ball with all communication. We hitched a ride with some locals to get to the cottage but it's so easy to find. We were welcomed with plums, milk, butter, eggs and the famous banana bread. So delightful. There was also a stocked pantry with coffee, tea and granola (which I couldn't eat but looked great!). I absolutely loved the architecture of the shower. I walked in and was like this is a spa! The cottage is about a 15 minute slow walk to the close beach and a 20-25 minute walk to cute shops and local grocery store. We walked in to Miner's Bay and it took us about 50 minutes, but it was hot and we we walking slow. After that Alexis kindly lent me her bike so I could be a bit more mobile. The sheep are delightful and hilarious. They are very addicted to their sheep treats! I also enjoyed the chickens. After a week of lazing around in the hammock, Manny kindly drove me back to the ferry. It was a delightful stay, and hopefully I will be able to return to Mayne Island in the future.

    Sarah2016-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had an extraordinary stay at the cob cottage. The space was cozy and inviting, and we savoured our time curled up next to the woodstove. Alexis was a phenomenal host - extremely communicative and accommodating, and even greeted us on our arrival with warm-from-the-oven oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. The cottage's interior is lovely and natural, complimented by beautiful gnarled arbutus and a gorgeous, rustic charm - the same way I would outfit my own cottage, if I had one! We especially loved the eye-window in the shower. Also, the chickens were a hoot to watch, especially when they made their way over to the window for a peek inside! Mayne Island is beautiful, and Alexis' cob cottage is a treasures. Hoping to return for another visit in the future!

    Megan2013-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • She stayed in contact and even provided us with little extra to help make our wood fire pizza.

    Mayne Island, British Columbia, Kanada

With a geodesic dome loft & a large deck in the trees, you'll feel like you're in a tree house in the woods. Since we book so far in advance, if you would like to stay here, check out our other listing, the Hummingbird Haven: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6562632. We have been listing with airbnb since July '09 and have had the most reservations of any of their listings! But you've got to plan ahead if you want to stay here.
We have 10 acres next to land without fences so you will get to enjoy nature: just hang out on the deck, take a hike in the woods, watch the hummingbirds, pet the goats, go to the beach or gaze at the stars - as long as the moon isn't full. ; ) During the summer, if there isn't any nightly fog, we can see the Milky Way here. To check our availability, click on the "Request to Book" link. And yes, if it isn't available, it is already booked! If you want to stay here on a weekend, you will usually need to make your reservation request about 9-11 months in advance. (Please read all of this description before making a reservation request.) The cozy and clean semi-rustic cabin has a loft under a geodesic dome (the "mushroom cap"). In the loft is a Queen-sized super popular Casper Mattress which allows for very comfortable sleeping and just hanging out. We provide clean sheets and pillow cases. Plenty of blankets are also provided. The other "bed" is a couch that we can make up into a bed. If there are going to be 2 of you, but you want separate beds, please make the reservation for 3 or let me know ahead of time - there is a $10. charge for using it as a bed. In the loft, we have a 32" HD Flat Screen and a DVD player (no TV) for movies. (We have over 80 movies you can view as well.) On the main floor (a Pentagon) is the couch and a pull-out table. We provide a small refrigerator, a blender, Hot Air Popcorn Popper, French Coffee Press, an Electric Water Kettle, (ask about our other appliances) a salad spinner and dishes. Yes, we have a wine opener. We have 2 tables where you can enjoy meals, games, etc.: 1 inside and 1 outside on the large deck that faces the redwoods. We also have a barbecue grill on the deck with an extra gas burner on the side. We provide Organic Coffee, teas, Oatmeal, popcorn, butter, honey, sugar, nutritional yeast (for the popcorn!) spices, oil and vinegar and various snacks. Our well water is treated by an ozonator, a UV light and a soft water filter. If you have a baby and you won't be needing the second bed, make your reservation for 2 and let us know if you will need a small pad for the loft. Again, if there are 2 of you but you want to use the second bed, please make your reservation for 3. The cute bathroom has a Travertine shower, custom tiled sink and a Natures Head self-contained composting toilet. Some guests have had a problem with our bathroom, so I want to make it clear that we have a curtain for the door to the bathroom and we require that you put your used toilet paper in the trash. (it won't smell) If you follow the instructions for how to use the toilet, it won't have any odor. If the thought of using a composting toilet grosses you out, then don't make a reservation here. ; ) We provide towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair blow-dryer, etc. (a word of caution: the bathroom has a low ceiling. If you are over 6' you may have to do a little ducking here and there.) As Saturdays are very much in demand, (and we like to be free on Saturdays), we require a minimum 2 day stay on the weekends. Keep in mind that Friday and Saturday nights are $155. - $160. each. Therefore, to stay here on a weekend will cost $310. $360. plus the $35. cleaning fee, the $41 airbnb fee and the 11% Santa Cruz County Transient Tax of about $42. So for the weekend, it will be a total of at least $428. To stay for 1 day mid-week costs a grand total of about $200. On 3 day holidays, we require a 3 day reservation. (This includes Presidents Day, Memorial Day, M.L.King day, and Labor Day.) But to stay here on a weekend, you will usually have to book the cabin 6 - 8 months in advance - unless you are lucky to find a cancellation! Check-in time is between 4 and 10pm. If you want to come sooner or later, this can sometimes be arranged. Check-out time is noon. As we have experienced some damage from guests, we are now requiring a $100. security deposit. Although it feels very isolated here, we are less than 10 minutes to Aptos Village where you will find stores, restaurants, a health food store, Safeway, etc. We are centrally located on the Monterey Bay: 10 minutes from the beach (Rio Del Mar and Seacliff State Beach) as well as the 10,000 acre Nisene Marks State Park for miles of hiking or dirt biking in the Redwoods and along Aptos creek. We are 20 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz, 25 min. to the Beach Boardwalk, 45 minutes to Monterey and the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, 50 min. to Carmel and 1 1/2 hours to Big Sur going south and San Francisco to the North. Yup, we are located in one of the most beautiful areas of California. (these times are not during rush hour(s) ; ) If you love hummingbirds, bring your camera. Our garden is the year-round home to many Anna Hummingbirds. (We usually have about 250-500 year-round) During the summer, we are also called home by many Rufus and Allen Hummers as well. So you have got to see our "Hummingbird Airport" where we feed them about 120 oz. of syrup on a summer day! Please, no smoking in the cabin or on the property. We used to let smokers stay here, but they stink up the cabin and it is a fire hazard outside. Some cell phones don't work here, but since we have free wifi in the cabin, if your phone works with a wifi network, you are good to call. You can sometimes get Verizon service on the swinging seat by the driveway. To learn about things to do in the area, do an internet search for Santa Cruz, CA. Dogs are welcome to stay here but with a few requirements: since we have so many animals, we require that your dogs be kept on a leash when outside (the goats get very nervous with large loose dogs). Also, we don't allow dogs in the loft or on the couch downstairs so please bring a doggie bed. (your doggie can go on the couch if you bring a cover for it) If that is difficult, let us know and we will provide a doggie pillow. We have a gate that we can set up so your dog can be off the leash on the deck. If you are bringing a small child, we can put a folding futon (2/3rds of the futon or a foam pad next to the bed ) Just let us know ahead of time. Keep in mind, though, that a child should not be left in the loft by themselves as the bed is fairly high up against the rail. As we are about 3 miles to the nearest bus stop, it is pretty difficult to stay here without a car. You are invited, if you feel you would be harmonious here. Pet the goats, check out our chickens, cats, miniature dog and enjoy the very fresh air. I might even teach you how to milk a goat. If you come here when there is no moonlight and the sky is clear, you will see lots of stars. Tired of the heat in the summer? Since we are on the edge of the "fog belt", it can be both sunny and cool here. If you want a noisy place, you won't like it here: most of the sound here comes from the birds or crickets chirping, the tree frogs croaking and the breeze blowing through the trees. People do live on the land here though, so don't expect it to be totally devoid of human sounds and the occasional chain saw. : ) (We feed the goats oak branches)
Even though we live only a 8 minute drive to Aptos village and the beaches, it feels very remote and private here. It is usually very quiet at night - sometimes we can hear the ocean waves crashing on the beach. There is lots of land to hike on and explore here as well. We have 11 people living here in a rather loose community.
  • What a cozy and fun cabin to spend our anniversary (and with our 5-month old too!). The treehouse itself is just as charming as the photos and the lookout deck was a serene place to rock our baby to sleep. The rain didn't dampen the fun of the cabin at all. Would enjoy visiting again. And Kitty was a great host who told us helpful tidbits about Aptos. Thanks so much!

  • Sorry for my late review, but I wanted to let you know how great of a time I had at the Mushroom Dome!! Kitty was such a gracious host who took the time to show my dad & I around the property and it's unique history. The cabin was cozy and provided an relaxing experience in the woods for my Dad's birthday. Located in beautiful location in the Santa Cruz forest (but not too remote) the Mushroom Dome is an awesome getaway for those looking for a weekend retreat! Make sure to try to the goat milk & fresh goat cheese if possible!! Thanks again Kitty!

  • Kitty and Michael were more than hospitable. They were very warm and accommodating, teaching and entertaining us with stories and lessons in permaculture. The cabin is great and cozy and surrounded by beauty everywhere. It's all enough to lure us back for another visit. Thanks! Erik and Jamie

  • We enjoyed this little hideaway in the woods. It really has more room in it than it looks. The fact that it has a bathroom in it is amazing! Loft with the bed is spacious. Kitty was very helpful with everything. We took her advice and ate Thai Seafood at Bangkok West, which was very good. We started to watch a movie when we got back, but couldn't stay awake from our busy day of travels. She left us some fresh eggs and goats' milk in the fridge for our breakfast. We'd never tried goats' milk and decided that it was pretty good. After eating on the deck the next morning, we hiked up the trail past the Redwoods. Got to say a quick hello to Michael on his way out and watch some of Kitty's beautiful hummingbirds before we took off down the coast. Thanks for sharing your special cabin with us!

    Crystal2014-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty and Michael were extremely welcoming - and the Mushroom Dome is out of this world! We stayed on an extremely windy night, and we felt very safe and cozy. Also - the goat milk was great! We will definitely stay here again.

    Caleb2014-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely awesome! Kitty made us feel right at home right from the beginning, as so many of these reviews cover well. The "hummingbird airport" was spectacular. Absolutely a must-see while you're there. I can't wait to stay here longer next time!

    Jessica2015-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • It was a magic experience to stay at the Mushroom Dome Cabin. The nature is extraordinary and so are the mocking birds. Very nice hosts and a clear recommendation if you need to come down and relax a few days. Also very close to some beautiful places like Capitolia and other surfer spots on the west coast.

This inspired dwelling nestled right into the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge mountainside. Reverently framed by the iconic round doorway, the wondrous views will entrance your imagination and inspire an unforgettable journey. Every nook of this little habitation will warm your sole, every cranny will charm your expedition of repose. Up the pathway, tucked into the earth, an unbelievable adventure awaits!
The majority of your neighbors will be deer, rabbits, birds & grouse. It's 2 miles up the mountain and although there are houses it gets more remote the closer you get to the hobbit hole.
  • I don’t think I could sufficiently describe just how stunning and magical this AirBnB is! The Hobbit Hole is situated atop a hillside overlooking the Columbia River Gorge and is very much reminiscent of the Shire except in the magical PNW. Luxury and simplicity at its finest here! I spent hours taking in all the beautiful details from the beautiful wood slice flooring to the intricate design on the back of the door, to the beautiful wood vanity and driftwood sink and the wood detailing on the privy. Everything was so, so beautiful! The environmentalist in me was also giddy at the fact that my one night stay had very little environmental impact with all the lights and outlets being powered by the sun! A few things to consider: it is quite a trek up to the Hobbit Hole from the parking area, which definitely adds to the experience, but I didn’t really plan for this and brought a pretty decent sized cooler with wheels. Had my hubby been with me, I would have had him carry the cooler up, but it was a pretty monumental cooler drag for me up the hillside! haha! Worth the work out though, as I had turkey/cheese sandwich and salad for supper and lox on a bagel and strawberries for breakfast the next morning. I also brought my pup with me and he was in heaven! So much open space for him to run free, but I did encounter either a rattlesnake or a bull snake on our morning walk a little ways from the hobbit hole (my heart was in my throat so I didn’t get close) so I suggest keeping your fur babies on a leash if you do go out for walks around the hobbit hole. Just to be safe ;) Thank you so much Kristie & crew for answering all my questions and making my stay one I will never, ever forget! Hoping to come back to the Hobbit Hole (aka dreamiest AirBnB in all the land) with my husband soon! :)

    Amanda2016-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Hobbit Hole was the perfect retreat during our Lake Chelan weekend. The view was stunning and the accommodations were comfy-cozy. We especially loved finding the hidden treasure in a unexpected drawer. I'm sure we'll be back again for another adventure.

    Heather2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay in the hobbit hole very much! We had fun looking at all the details and loved the novelty of it. Now is the time to visit while it's the only hobbit hole on the hill. The quiet patio and view was so peaceful and restorative. I wish I had brought a small fan or that there were operable windows for at night; I was too hot at night. In the afternoon/evening, I was perfectly comfortable inside and outdoors despite the chelan forecast being near 90. Our Toyota yaris was not made for the trek, but in dry daylight driving we survived just fine. Very clean. Smelled like cedar or something nice and natural.

    Erica2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Nicely cared for, beautiful view over the valley.

    Ronae2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Location was far enough away from town and contained so many beautiful details that we truly felt transported to the Shire. Driving instructions were clear. Would bring a few hiking sticks next time and travel with a backpack to make it easier to get up the footpath. The earth house was warm and inviting. Never needed to use the fireplace despite the outdoor temperature of 54F on our arrival. Had no problems with the special power/water circumstances. The bed was luxurious. Enjoyable inside and out. Thank you for your attention to detail here. It was a lovely stay.

  • It was absolutely amazing!!! My husband was SOOO surprised! I immediately posted pictures of our stay on (Hidden by Airbnb) so you'll probably be getting quite a few referrals coming your way ;-) I loved all the hidden treasures around the place, it was so fun and memorable! There is no other place like this, it truly is a one-of-a-kind experience!!!!

  • This was a little space of pure joy for me. Its exactly what you would expect and more. For all of the Tolkien (Website hidden by Airbnb) provides you with an epic little hobbit house. For anyone else, its just adorable and peaceful. The view is spectacular and every detail is absolutely perfect. Thank you for making this little home.

  • Such a beautiful, special place! Would recommend bringing your own cooler with sandwich fixins or charcuterie, since Chelan is a good 35 minute drive. May also want to bring layers as it gets a bit nippy in the evening. Really enjoyed our stay. Can't believe this exists in our state . Thanks for having us!

The Eden Valley is the quiet side of the county of Cumbria in North West England, naturally beautiful quiet & away from the crowds of the nearby national parks of the The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales . Its not remote , is very easy to get to but still feels well off the beaten track.
  • Simon and Wendy were great hosts. The castle was amazing and the grounds were beautiful. It helped that we were the only guests in a massive place, but it could easily accommodate the 20+ people advertised and you would have trouble seeing everyone. Breakfast the next morning was tasty and filling. Thanks again!

  • This place is AMAZING! We've stayed at 30 AirBNB's over the last month+ and we often are thinking "this place isn't quite like the photos" ... but not Wendy's Castle. For the first time, this place is BETTER than the photo's ... BY FAR. Our kids loved this place and after extending our stay by a night, our kids were begging us to stay longer. With plenty of room to run around and enjoy the outdoors and indoors, this place is truly a gem! I will come back to this place for CERTAIN. The staff was superb, the accommodations amazing; there was nothing about this place that we didn't love. The beds were the most comfortable we've had in weeks; the host the most laid-back and casual as ever; the space to roam about was superb. I can't say enough about Wendy & Simon's castle. Thank you for the wonderful experience! Cheers!

The Off-grid itHouse brings together raw industrial aesthetics with the tactics of green design to forge a new home in the sunbaked wilds of the California high desert.
The Off-grid itHouse is an architecturally significant house, recently noted by Dwell as one of the 'Best Homes in America' and in the Los Angeles Times as one of the best houses of all time in Southern California. The Off-grid itHouse is one of 10 IT Houses built in California, which have received much acclaim such as the Western Home award sponsored by Sunset magazine. Also noted as one of the top 10 airbnb rentals worldwide. This is the prototype for the pre-engineered system known as the IT House. The house is 100% off-grid, powered by solar panels for energy and hot water, and is located in a pristine remote valley in the beautiful California high desert. The house observes key green principals of smaller footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally. The setting of the house is remote and serene, a quiet refuge from everything, free from distractions. Amazing views and vistas in all directions. Perfect for design or green aficionados, writers or those needing a secluded quiet getaway.
Located in Pioneertown, CA, nearby several unique attractions, Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy and Harriets Pioneertown Palace, local museums and art venues such as the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, the Integratron, and other seasonal events.
  • We had a wonderful time at this house, it is beautifully constructed and in a gorgeous location. We couldn't have asked for anything more!

  • Linda has this thing dialed. It was easy and efficient to stay at her place. And the place itself is like nothing else. It is well worth it!

    Marc2016-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you value space, views, silence and design this is the ultimate spot! Probably the best bedroom in the world. We couldn't have loved it more. We had dinner one night at Pappy and Harriets one night which was fun- and would def recommend the natural cafe in JT- delicious fresh lunch. Definitely get groceries before you get up to the house. ENJOY!!!

    Natalie2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Brrrrrr! We had an absolutely frigid stay at this residence. The power, and therefore heat and light, cut out every night and we froze! Unfortunately, this is not conveyed in the listing description, but was relayed to us by the owner a few days before arrival. We paid $496/night and had to bring our own drinking water, coffee, firewood. I wish we had brought our own blankets as there are not enough at the house. On top of that, the owner discouraged use of the fireplace. We could not even take a shower. We were not informed of a delivery to the house which required our interaction. We won't forget our ice-cold stay here. We feel seriously duped.

    Monica2017-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time! The remote location, home, fireplace, etc. was amazing!

  • Inga's apartment was incredible - view over Akureyri was fabulous and sitting on patio, we made good use of the lovely blankets provided. Apartment had everything we needed and Inga was great at answering all our questions. Only small negative - we booked the apartment with double and bunks but when arrived had been given middle apartment with 2 double beds (our teenagers were slightly unhappy with this but coped after a trip to town for ice cream!) Just might be worth double checking sleeping arrangements. Overall the apartment was a highlight during our 3 week trip and would highly recommend.

  • This apartment is beautiful, quiet to live in and just 5mins drive into the city of Akureyri. We had a wonderful stay in this place for 3 days. The view is amazing!

  • Great place with an amazing view of Akureyi. Easily accommodated a guest count of 4 adults. Only thing I wish they had was a couch or something more comfortable to sit on to lounge than the bench.

    Pascal2018-09-16T00:00:00Z

It was so romantic to play cards and have a glass of wine next to the big windows. He even had beautiful wool blankets and wine in the fridge! Would stay here again in a heartbeat. One of the best Air b n b's that I have stayed in.

Assorbi l'energia della natura vivendo in questa meravigliosa casa posta su di un albero. Confortevole e vintage, panoramica e intima, ti regalerà colori e istanti indimenticabili mentre i pini che la circondano ti sussurreranno storie secolari.
casaBARTHEL is a perfect place for a vacation and an artist residency, immersed in the Tuscan landscape only twenty minutes’ from the Duomo and one hour from Siena. Come and live with us: enjoy our olive trees, the kitchen garden, the tennis court and the small swimming pool. The TREEhouse is a romantic room immersed in the pine trees with fire place for the winter and AC for the summer. It offers a bedroom with a queen size bed, a small kitchenette with stove and fridge; a bathroom with shower, and a private outdoor terrace. And a fantastic view towards the Tuscan landscape! And if you want to see and know more about our passion for the interior design, the arts and crafts, and antiques you should come visit our design and make shop ‘Riccardo Barthel’ in Via dei Serragli n. 234 r, in the Santo Spirito district of Florence! At the beginning of the 1980 our family moved into the ‘Poggio Secco’ (Dry Hill) farmhouse, just outside Florence city center, in front of the Certosa dell’Ema. The compound had a big stone villa surrounded by olive trees, a compost hub, a pigeon house, a barn, a tall cypress tree and an old German shepherd dog. Everything in the farm was placed around a large terracotta courtyard, a sort of public square. Thirty years later the ‘Dry Hill’ is still our home and a small community that includes my mum Daniela, aunt and uncle Sandra and Nanni, me, my daughter Cristina and my husband Andrew. We all live here sharing the same love for the countryside, its olive oil, good food and the family lifestyle! The rent includes the use of the communal swimming pool and the tennis court; the dining porch with the BBQ and the wooden oven; dryer and washer; table tennis and football table, plus a car parking inside the property. We are glad to interact with our guests; you will be part of our large family! Galluzzo is a nice small village with everything you need:crocery stores and a nice farmers market open every day. The certosa monastery is a must. Le Corbusier was there to learn! There are public busses in Galluzzo to go to the city center and to go to Siena. But to get to our house and to enjoy the surrounding you should come by car!

Charming and romantic,' Round' Cottage on the Santarella Estate in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Formerly, the cottage was sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's summer studio on the Santarella Estate. The two-story cottage has a charming bedroom with 35 foot high conical ceiling with canopied bed upstairs with views through massive, multi-paned "mill windows" to the trees and sky and out to the lily pond. The downstairs sitting room looks out on the babbling brook and lovely gardens.
Now open year-round! Charming, One Bedroom Cottage, former sculpting studio on the Santarella Estate in Tyringham, MA. Known as the "Silo Studio" Cottage. There is a bedroom with canopied queen bed upstairs and a sitting room with window bench-seat, coffee table, table and chairs, kitchenette area with wet bar with Micro/Fridge coffeemaker, toaster and bathroom with shower are downstairs. Fall asleep to sounds of the babbling brook and views to pond and forest from the large screened openings upstairs, like living in a "tree-house". Accommodates two only, fully furnished, all linens, towels included. There is Satellite DTV and Wireless Internet on site. The cottage is situated on four acres including lovely gardens, beautiful lily pond, running brooks and 2 acre woods. Absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind experience! Please Note, the cottage has traditionally been a three season rental from approximately March- November, however, due to much interest and demand, we have recently added a larger capacity pellet stove and made winterizing efforts and plan on keeping it open for guests interested in a winter experience in the cottage! Please keep in mind that access to our grounds may be limited with the accumulation of snow in winter months. During predicted extreme weather events, we will gladly work with guests to change reservations as we are always concerned for their comfort! Our lovely grounds are open to our guests. There are garden paths, babbling brook with stone bridges, loveliest of lily ponds, stone bench seating area with 'chiminea' and firewood for guest's use. There are two acres of woods with a loop trail as well. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often deserted. While we do have a pet friendly policy, prior approval and acceptance of our rules and policies is required before a pet may stay with you in our accommodations. There is also a $25.00 additional pet cleaning charge. The cottage is located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. Vehicle is necessary. Grocery and other shopping at 3.5 miles.
Tyringham Valley was one of the original settlements in Western Massachusetts. It is mostly agricultural conserved land giving it a very rural, bucolic and idyllic character. The lovely 'Hop Brook' runs through the middle of the valley which is sparsely populated with mostly historic homes, making one feel like they have stepped back in time. An original, beautifully preserved Shaker settlement sits on top of the hillside opposite Santarella, overlooking it. At the far end of the valley, the gracious columns of the burned Ashintully mansion overlook the entire valley and are all that remain of the gilded-age estate which has beautiful preserved formal gardens, great to visit and hike. The Appalachian Trail is 2.25 miles from the cottage.
  • Nothing short of amazing, if you're looking for a place to escape the daily grind, this place is it. Secluded, but close enough to quaint downtown areas and great museums. It's surely a unique property, and the only thing that rivals the greatness of this cottage is the hosts - they're top notch.

    Marta2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • I hate to use the adjective "magical" in a real-life situation, however, no other word really can describe this place. The space itself is a work of art, a lovingly refurbished and reconditioned old silo, through the work of a single man and the support of his wife. The place is reminiscent of something wrought by JRR Tolkein without seeming like a cheesy set-piece. Huge windows, a spiral staircase, wood everything, massively vaulted ceilings, and all the amenities one could ask for while nestled in a firefly thick garden, replete with frog pond and short hiking trails. You will sleep to the wonderful sounds of a babbling brook and all of your senses will delight upon waking. The place just feels good. The upstairs literally took my wife's breath away when she first saw it, and we have stayed in many places in our travels. The hosts are kind and vibrant people. Dennis showed me around the other buildings and excited recounted tales of his amazing renovations while my wife slept in one morning, and Denise was always available when needed with advice or assistance. The wi-fi is slow, but I am glad, as it gets your eyes off your damn phone and onto the beauty that surrounds you. A million stars.

    Benjamin2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second trip to Santarella and yet again it did not cease to stupify me with its charm. The only downside to staying here is that you eventually have to leave. Denise was, as always, the most charming host. The weather wasn't perfect, but it didn't matter, because the soul of this place shines through all seasons. I'll be back soon.

    Tyler2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures and reviews are just as wonderful as they seem! My husband and I had a magical time at Silo Studio. What an incredible fairytale little house! I could barely believe that we saw fireflies AND heard spring peepers at the same time. Denise was just terrific. She was very knowledgeable of the area and a very thoughtful hostess. From playing scrabble by the pond in the garden, to hiking and picnicking in Tyringham Cobble, to swimming in Garfield Lake, we fully enjoyed ourselves. We were very sad to leave and look forward to our next trip! Thanks so much for a great minimoon, Denise!

    Ellie2015-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great its like out of a fairytale! I'd come and stay again.

    Anton2018-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Denise's place was an absolute dream, and the photos do not do it justice. We had only a short stay for our "mini-moon", but Denise gave us excellent recommendations for local eateries and hikes. She greeted us for check-in and even brought us cold ciders on the hot day. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

    Nathalie2018-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Silo Cottage is absolutely breath-taking. Although it is in closer proximity than one would like to the neighboring homes, it is quiet and relaxing. The surrounding grounds are beautiful and unique, we took several walks around the woods/simply sat by the pond enjoying the fall colors. It is perfectly located in the heart of the Berkshires at just a 25 minute radius to countless historic towns, iconic trails, delicious restaurants and great shopping outlets! We could not be more happy with the place we chose to spend our honeymoon. To top it all off, Dennis and Denise were very kind and welcoming - they had set-up the cottage with snacks, wine and coffee (huge win for us!). Our favorite spots were the Tyringham Cobble Trail, downtown Lee, and downtown Great Barrington. - Lauren & Gabriel

    Gabriel2018-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Denise was a wonderful and friendly host, she walked us through everything we needed to know and was very helpful. The space was so fun and cozy, it made for a memorable New Years adventure! Already thinking about a return trip!

  • Sadly it was not me who got to enjoy this beautiful windmill as I got it as wedding gift for my best friend and her husband for a romantic weekend away. However, the feedback that I have had has been amazing! They said they couldn't have asked for a lovelier host in Clare...they were late on arrival and got lost but Clare very kindly waited up for them and was really helpful in showing them around. The food that was given to them was delicious and they were raving about how comfty the bed was and that the every inch of the decor of the mill has been beautifully finished - giving it such a cosy feel. They went on a few lovely walks and local bike rides so were left with lots of things to do. Clare was so helpful in helping me to arrange all this and could not have been more accommodating. If not for yourself, I would definitely love to treat more of my friends such a romantic weekend away. Thank you Clare

  • I would challenge anyone not to have an absolutely superb stay in this beautifully-restored windmill! All the reviews about this gorgeous accommodation are true - as are the comments about Clare and her warm, generous hospitality. I am already thinking of many reasons for a return trip...

  • What can we say... Clare and this wonderful place were absolutely amazing! The windmill is perfectly decorated, charming, warm and welcoming. A perfectly romantic retreat in the beautiful countryside of Kent. Every detail, to make your stay thoroughly enjoyable, was thought of. The pictures don't begin to do it justice. The Bull Inn restaurant, just down the street, is also very charming and quaint with delicious food and wonderful staff. Can't imagine a better place to stay!

  • A truly amazing stay! Unique place which has been beautifully renovated whilst maintaining its character - even though the weather wasn't great while we were there we were more than happy to stay in and enjoy the beautiful accommodation! Clare was an amazing host, and was very kind in helping us when our car broke down. All in all, couldn't recommend it enough

  • Fantastic retreat away in the countryside! The windmill was beautiful and just like the pictures shown. Claire was a wonderful host who made our us feel very welcome- loved the fresh duck eggs and local products left for us on arrival. There was lots to see and do around the local area. A trip to Rye and Camber Sands is within easy reach. The food at the local pub (The Bull) was yummy and well worth a visit!

  • Another amazing stay at Old Smock to celebrate getting engaged there a year earlier. It's an absolutely perfect place to hole up and get away from the business of life; I can't recommend it highly enough. Can't wait for our next stay!

    Paul2015-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a relaxing break at this property which occupies a good position with excellent views over the surrounding countryside. The windmill has been beautifully renovated and offers a fascinating insight into a long-lost way of life. Clare offered a warm welcome and gave us a comprehensive tour of the accommodation including the history of the windmill itself. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and warm despite the sub-zero temperatures outside. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

Red cinder leads you through the dense jungle to your secluded bamboo treehouse. Nestled on top of stilts 15' up in the canopy of the local flora, ascend to your retreat via the trapdoor or begin your adventure in Volcano National Park 10 miles away.
Upon arrival, let the red cinder path be your yellow brick road as you are lead through the jungle to your personal paradise. At ground level you will encounter a hanging bed, suspended beneath the floor of your new living quarters. Stop and relax or continue up the staircase to the trapdoor. It is through this trapdoor that you are allowed access to the lanai amongst the canopy of trees. A beautiful wrap around lanai allows for a 360 degree view of the lush jungle, while two sliding glass doors grant access to the bedroom. Upon entering, you will notice that the generous windows and doors allow for natural sunlight to flood into the house, complementing the bamboo fixtures and vintage 1970s wallpaper that backs the bed. The white bed linens reflect the light giving a dreamy, cloud-like aura to the space. There is counter stocked with a local coffee and snacks nestled into a corner of the house and overlooked by the handcrafted porthole windows. Bamboo backed cubby holes and hangers furnish the wall behind you and create an elegant, minimalist closet space for you to store your personal items for the duration of your stay. Just past the closet is a sliding door that accesses one of the most fun areas of the house: the bathroom. The bathroom jalousie windows stretch from the floor to the ceiling and the horizontal glass plates open up, creating an indoor-outdoor effect. Naturally caught rainwater cascades from the large shower head above before disappearing into the floor boards below. You'll notice that the natural theme spills over into the bathroom with sustainable cork board backing the shower and air plants intermittently growing throughout. The toilet and hand-made rock sink in the corner make use of grey water eco-principles by allowing you to wash your hands with fresh water before it goes on to fill the bowl. One of the most fun aspects of this property is that it allows you the opportunity to experience true off-grid living without sacrificing any of the comforts of normal life. Natural lighting, solar power and rain water catchment are the three principles that have been integrated into this tree top design, making it almost like a living organism itself. The beauty of this high flying haven is in the details. I spent the better part of three months personally constructing the building as well as the accessories inside. My goal was to create a customized and secluded space for your occasion. The chandelier, hanging lights, port-hole windows, rock sink and platform bed were all DIY projects that I specifically created to enhance your experience. The bamboo pillars that 'support' the lanai and the moss carpet under the hanging bed were harvested from local areas on the Big Island. IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION Don't worry, the capital letters are just to emphasize importance. I'm not mad at you. But please read this entire section before making a reservation. As lush and inviting as the Dreamy Tropical Treehouse is, there are inevitable 'challenges' that come with staying in an off-grid treehouse in the Hawaiian jungle. My goal is to give you an experience that combines adventure and luxury so I want to make sure that you are aware of the following things: 1. The treehouse is about 15-feet off the ground and is only accessible by the 'ladder-stairs'. 'Ladder-stairs' is just another way of saying 'very steep' stairs. There is a hand railing and none of my visitors have ever had a problem going up and down. There is a pulley system for hoisting up your bags. Only those who believe they are physically capable should book a stay. Just remember to go up and down the stairs facing them... like a ladder! 2. The running water comes from the rain falling on the roof and is not treated; therefore, the water is not potable. I will provide several bottles of drinking water. 3. The electricity you use is generated by sunlight and is stored in a battery. Once the battery runs out of power it has to recharge. This shouldn’t happen but just be mindful not to leave lights or power hungry items running for extended periods of time (No hairdryers). The windows allow for plenty of light during the day. 4. This is the rainy side of the Big Island so expect some showers! Realize that the pitter-patter on the roof is the rain's first stop on its journey to the water tanks and then to your shower. Also notice how warm it is. Don't think of rain as a trip ruiner but instead an asset to be enjoyed! 5. There are bugs but this isn't the Amazon. For such a tropical climate you will be surprised at how few bugs there are. The main things you will see are moths, fruit flies (due to fruit falling off of the trees) and mosquitoes. Bug repellent is provided but it never hurts to bring your own. They really don't get that bad but their presence increases after a hard rain and during the twilight hours. Luckily, the hanging bed has mosquito netting that drapes down to encompass it. 6. Noises. Living off-grid in the jungle also brings about its own set of noises. The water pump and solar inverter will make soft noises throughout the day as they are used. The falling fruit from the vivie trees can also be alarming if you don't know what it is, and at night you are going to be serenaded by the sweet chirping of coqui frogs. Rustling branches, grunts and squeals typically means that the cute family of wild pigs is nearby. They are harmless and will runoff as soon as they sense your presence. Quietly grab the binoculars and, if you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of them! All of these aspects are what makes this place so unique and, with the right mindset, they’ll only enhance your overall experience. Guests have free range to fully utilize every aspect of the house. The hanging bed, wrap-around porch, indoor-outdoor shower and closet are at your full disposal. I have recently installed a kitchenette that has a sink, cooler for storing food/drinks, and a coffee maker (also capable of heating up water). Any and all goodies stocked in the house are there for your enjoyment. Here is a more comprehensive list of amenities and features that will be available to you: •Indoor/Outdoor Shower •Toilet with Overlaid Sink •Organic Shampoo/Conditioner •Towels •Ample Parking •Tiki Torch ‘Flashlights’ •Hanging Bed •Table and Chairs for Lanai •Binoculars •Several Books •Outlets (3-prong and USB) •Kitchen Sink •Coffee Maker •Clean Linens •Gramophone Music Player for iPhones •Cooler for Food/Drink •Card Game Guest interaction can be tailored to your needs. My goal is to make sure your stay is unforgettable so you can always contact me via phone or email. Because I do not live on the island year round, a local neighbor can assist you if you have any problems that need tending to. Upon your arrival I can arrange to have someone greet you and show you the property or simply stow away the key for your convenience. The choice, of course, is yours. Even though I am not on site, I can always be reached. Feel free to call/text/email me at any time during your stay should the unlikely event that a problem arises. I will immediately contact the proper authority to have the problem remedied. The treehouse is located at the end of a neighborhood street making it very private. It is set about 50 yards off the street behind a windy, jungle path further adding to your privacy. There are only about five full time neighbors scattered throughout the neighborhood so don't expect to see a lot of people. The treehouse is about 20 miles from Hilo, 23 miles from Pahoa, 12 miles from Keaau and 8 miles from Volcano. Volcano is the closest place for laundry, good restaurants and groceries, though you will pay a little more for the groceries than in Hilo or Keaau. I recommend you stop on your way in from Hilo. When you book I will include a guidebook that has the locations, hours and prices of local restaurants and grocery stores. There is quick access to highway 11 and it is 10 miles from Volcanoes National Park. Numerous opportunities for sightseeing and adventures are within a 40 minute drive of this treehouse paradise and they will be included in my guest guidebook as well. This is the ultimate spot for couples seeking romantic seclusion in the middle of a tropical jungle or individuals who want to escape the world. Unless you feel like hitchhiking, you will definitely need a rental car with high ground clearance to comfortably explore the surrounding areas and access the treehouse. While nothing is 'far' on the big island, everything is just a bit out of reach by foot... except of course for those lovely, yet dense, jungle strolls.

  • Very well designed treehouse! I was so impressed! Every detail has been considered in this place. Arriving late was no problem, everything was fairly easy to figure out. The shower was a little tricky so best to watch the YouTube video and read the book. Also, didn't quite realize there was a way to pull the luggage up ... Very handy once I figured that out! Loved staying here, was amazing to wake up in the forest In such a thoughtfully designed place.

  • The Dreamy Tropical Treehouse was a great stay for 2 nights during our Honeymoon to Hawaii. The proximity to the Volcanoes National Park was wonderful, and the experience was truly unique! The house is located in a very private setting and all of the off the grid features make it a very different stay from elsewhere on the island.

    Robert2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • The tree house is truly a dream -- it's very secluded, relaxing and romantic. We also loved reading the book about how Kristie built the house herself.

    Susan2016-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical experience, from beginning to end! From the bamboo gateway greeting us with fresh tropical flowers, to the beautifully decorated treehouse and all the unique features in between! We only spent one night here but wished be could have spent more! This treehouse tops the places we have ever stayed, an absolute must if you are staying in the area!!

    Ed2015-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • I can't put into words how beautiful the treehouse is. The details are extraordinary, and our entire stay felt magical. Thankyou for such a wonderful experience Kristie, it was by far my favorite of our trip.

    Ashleigh2015-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Kristie's tropical tree house was beyond phenomenal and truly served as the highlight during our first visit to the Big Island. My partner fell ill coming in and I messaged Kristie to see if we could bump up the check in time, by a long shot - Kristie was so lovely and accommodating and made arrangements with the cleaning staff so we could check in early. The decor was charming and the place was immaculate. I cannot recommend this place enough!

    Haruka2015-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This treehouse is *fantastic*; it really doesn't get better than this. We had a full itinerary planned for our short trip, but ended up spending almost two straight days just lying in bed with a book, listening to the birds and frogs and the constant, light rain. Some tips: Bring mosquito repellent. It's a rainforest, you'll need it. The bedroom/kitchen area is well screened, but the bathroom windows aren't (for good reason! They're awesome). Buy plenty of non-perishable food before leaving civilization, unless you'll be content with the selection at the small shops in Volcano Village. We loaded up on cheeses and crackers, and stopped at every fruit stand along the way. And don't miss the cool pulley system for hoisting up your luggage -- I felt like an idiot after making multiple trips up and down the ladder. Also, they're not kidding about the rough road: with careful driving you can avoid bottoming out in a standard sized car, but definitely don't try it in a smartcar.

    Rusty2015-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Such a special place! It is adorable and very clean. It's like being in another world. Kristie was great with the communication. Lovely!

There are some mini markets, drugstores and restaurants in a close Village. Adoramos a experiência! Queremos voltar em breve.

  • Surpreendente!

Fiquei super feliz e.super indico. Valeu o valor que paguei.

  • O local é maravilhoso e bastante reservado. O casal de caseiro são super simpáticos e ajudaram sempre que solicitado. Recomendo e pretendo voltar.

*This cabin was featured in the New York Times in January, 2017. * A magical homesteader cabin embedded in 5 acres of unfenced Joshua Tree desert wilderness, 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. Experience peace, quiet, wildlife and STARS—on the grid but off the pavement. Important to note before you book: NO EXTRA GUESTS NO PARTIES (including dinner parties) NO DRONES NO COMMERCIAL/PROFESSIONAL SHOOTING (photo, video, film) NO GRILLING (fire danger is extremely high!) Thank you!
If this cabin is booked on your dates, check out our nearby "Midcentury Prefab Homesteader Cabin." *** If you would like to use our cabin as a shooting location please get in touch to discuss our rates, otherwise we do not allow commercial or professional shooting of any kind (photo, video, film) during your stay. Thank you in advance! *** The restored cabin, which has been featured in the New York Times 'T' travel magazine, Wilder Quarterly, The Weekender and the book 'Jackrabbit Homestead,' was constructed in 1955 and still has its original green paint. The renovated interior has a cookware-outfitted kitchen and dining area. There is an outhouse with a dry toilet and roofless shower a few yards from the cabin. Wireless internet is available if you require a connection to the digital world. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning. Joshua Tree National Park is a 15 minute drive from the cabin. The Integratron and Giant Rock are also 15 minutes away. The cabin is less than two miles from artist Noah Purifoy's famous sculpture garden site. Two miles in the other direction is Dhamma Dena, teacher Ruth Denison's Vipassana Buddhist center. The always swinging Pappy & Harriet's BBQ and music roadhouse in beautiful Pioneertown is a 30-minute drive. The Lou Harrison House, which hosts occasional devotional, folk and avant garde music events in an intimate setting is less than 10 minutes away. We will be happy to give you directions to each of these unique places (and many others) that we frequent ourselves. The cabin sits on 5 acres, and feels remote, but it's just 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. You will travel a few miles on a secure, hard dirt road to get here. Enjoy the spectacular panoramic sunset and sunrise—as well as a blanket of stars. In the wintertime, you can build a fire too. Sleep comfortably in a queen-sized bed. The cabin is located next to BLM land and a wildlife corridor, which means you will witness these wild animals in their native habitat. The cottontail rabbits, cactus wrens, lizards, desert tortoises, jackrabbits, coyotes, owls and roadrunners (and more!) that make the desert their home make a visit to this serene cabin all the more special. Guests may have freshly prepared organic juices made by local juice cleanse guru Angela de la Agua delivered to the cabin. A menu/pricelist is available upon request.
  • Our stay in Jay and Stephanie's home was more than great! Jay welcomed us and showed us around the property, and they provided easy to follow instructions to get there! We were a little worried about driving a bit through a dirt road, since we drive a Mini, but it was well kept and driving carefully we had no problem at all! The cabin is cozy and has everything you need (and more), it was great to sit on the porch and read as night fell, very calm and relaxing. We loved every bit!

    Rebeca2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at the Homesteader Cabin! It was an incredibly peaceful, relaxing vacation. Stephanie was very communicative and helpful. Highly recommended!

    Shani2013-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Situated off the beaten path, the homesteader cabin sits atop a slope overlooking the vast desert wilderness. We sat on the porch for hours utterly captivated by the ever-changing skies. Ahh, it's relaxing just thinking about it. Do go! Thank you Jay & Stephanie for sharing your corner of Joshua Tree. We relished every second staying at your cabin.

    Amanda2013-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Unbelievable setting! Absolutely loved our stay. Like no other place. Jay was great at communicating and answering any questions we had. Very close to joshua tree national park. Another highlight was going to Pappy and Harriet's in pioneer town about 20 min drive. My only advice would be to be back at the cabin for sunset! The most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. Highly recommend this place especially if you want something completely different.

    Krista2013-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a privilege to stay here. Not only is the cabin itself beautifully conserved/restored (and well equipped) it is also situated in a place of real beauty. As Jay & Stephanie put it, I think, "on the grid but off the road". Comfortable bed, hot shower and hosts who are easy to contact (they will also provide you with excellent directions to the cabin).

    David2014-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautifully peaceful stay. My boyfriend and I rented Jay and Stephanie's cabin for our anniversary weekend and it was perfect. Secluded, cozy, and romantic, but not far from town if you want to go to the national park or hang out with locals at a bar. Jay met us upon arrival and explained everything we needed to know. He and Stephanie live just up the road and are available if you need anything. This one room cabin has a panoramic view of the surrounding desert and sunset is perfect. Laying in the hammock is the perfect way to let Joshua Tree lull you to sleep at night. Enjoy!

    Kyla2014-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hosts & a VERY special location. If you like rustic simplicity & love the desert, stars, and the wide open, highly recommended.

    Jason And Devora2011-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is magical. It is simple, tasteful, and the views are spectacular. We had plenty of privacy. We enjoyed campfires in the fire pit in the evening, and showering under the stars in the outdoor roofless shower. Stephanie and Jay were very hospitable, and answered all of our questions about where to visit, and what it is like to live in the desert. We even bought some Arthur Magazines, a really interesting art and culture publication that Jay produces. The cabin is a great place to relax and enjoy the desert's beauty. We did a lot of cooking and reading on the patio. It is also fairly close to the National Park where there are plenty of hikes and rock climbing opportunities if you want to be more active. We loved it so much we are planning to plan another visit next year!

  • We stayed 1 week in the villa Love 4, booked at 9:30am and checked in at 12pm the same day!!! Robyn was very quick to reply and very efficient. The villa is just perfectly located, clean, lovely staff, very quiet place and only 5 min walk to many restaurants (italian, greek, indonesian, thai,...), bars, massages and beach for the sunset drink. We really enjoyed our week and we were very sad to leave the villa. We definitely recommend this villa.

  • We stayed for 4 nights in Love Villa 4 and the only thing we can say is: STUNNING. The Villa is from top to buttom lovely decorated and the pool is just beautiful. The staff is very friendly and the communication with Robyn and Richard was easy and very attentive. Thank you that we could stay in such a wonderful place. PS: Just 5 minutes away from nice 66 beach and a lot of good restaurants and shops are nearby.

  • The Love Villas are in a great location for a family - very close to Double six beach and restaurants - but as you are down a laneway the Villa is very quiet. The laneway is around 200 meters long, but is very well lit and it is nice to see some real local houses - the daily hellos are very welcoming as you walk back! The three bedroom villa was great for our family - it never felt cramped. Thanks for a great stay.

    Fiona2017-08-11T00:00:00Z

Solar power is used for hot water and and waste water is re-used (please use the organic bodycare and cleaning products provided). In cooler months, heating and the woodburning stove will keep you warm. The trullo's traditional thick walls and high ceilings keep it cool in summer. And through the marvels of technology, a wifi connection is now available in this idyllic rural setting. The surrounding grounds are maintained organically. Set in four acres, Trullo aromatic green provides the space and tranquillity for real relaxation. Amongst the 110 olive trees are many almonds, walnuts, fig, cherries, apple, pear and mulberry trees, providing a garden banquet that guests can feast on. Produce from the land, including olive oil, is provided for your enjoyment at the property, and available to take home. At the front of the house is a large dining table under a shady gazebo. Nearby there is a barbecue . A large terrace is available to enjoy the landscape from a new perspective. Comfortably furnished, it's the perfect place for sundowners or digestifs. There is also an ancient aia where you just relax on a hammock. The kitchen inside is equipped to the standard that you would expect from this impressive property. I expect that you will dine outside most of the time, but if the weather turns, or you fancy a change, the intimate dining room will delight you. The living room provides ample space for everyone to relax. Enjoy the sound system - Bose iPod docking station and CD player - or watch a film on the Tv. A wood burning stove will warm the spirits in the cooler months. The bedrooms: there are one double bedroom and one can be configured as double or twins. Each season brings its own climate, festivals and produce. In April the days are warm, but Puglia is still quiet. So you would have a great time to explore the surrounding towns, markets and scenery. There are many festival processions over Easter. On May soft fruits such as cherries, mulberries and fiorone (early figs) are in abundance, markets are full of spring vegetables and the fields are full of wild flowers. This is a fantastic season. On June enjoy the countryside and the beaches before the crowds arrive. Days are pleasantly warm, and the nights clear. On July the real start of summer. Enjoy a day on the beach l, followed by a summer festa or concert. Famous classical concerts in nearby Martina Franca run from mid July to mid August. Finally on August explore the beaches and get plenty of rest during the day to ensure you are full of energy for the many festivals that take place throughout the region during summer. On September as the blazing heat of high summer subsides, enjoy pleasant days and some spill-over festivals such as the Jazz festival in Lecce, or buskers in Martina Franca. Places to Go Puglia offers a wealth of diversions; two coast lines, a vast number of hill towns each with their own characteristics, and always beautiful, rugged scenery with knarled olive trees, spring flowers, red soil and acres of vineyards. • My husband and I spent a week at Isa's trullo. It is a lovely garden setting with many kinds of fruit trees and vegetables. Isa's hard work really shows. The house was comfortable and nicely located to Cisternino and Ostuni. I especially liked the very equipped kitchen. We had a few very very hot days and Isa went to some trouble to get two good fans for us. She also left some of her hosed jam and other goodies for us. A very peaceful setting with a great view of the full moon.

  • The pictures of the trullo are great, and they were the reason that we chose to stay here. However, they can't actually capture the wonderful essence of the place. You pull up to a modern automatic gate, when it opens you see tons of olive trees, beautiful flowers, and the most amazingly restored trullo. Everything about the place is perfection. From the remarkable host, Isa, who helped us with everything. She is clearly such a kind-hearted person, and I wish that we had more time to get to know her. To the inside of the house where everything was so fabulously designed, the perfect mixture of old and new. To the amazing grounds, where when we got hungry we would go outside and pick the most delicious cherries. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and plan on it. In fact, if it was for sale I would have wanted to buy it- furniture and all. One thing to know, you must rent a car. It is too far from Ostuni, but not having a car in this area would be a shame- there is too much to see!

    Allison2013-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Trullo was fantastic! We loved every minute. It was the perfect home base for our Puglia vacation. Isa was a lovely host with fantastic suggestions that made us feel like locals - right at home. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND!

  • We spent one week in this beautiful Trulli, surrounded by a wild and dreamy garden. There's a lot of trips you can do to the surrounding beaches, or you just stay at home and enjoy the stunning landscape. Isa is a great host! She will spare no effort to help you with tips and the fruit and vegetables she offered us were delicious!

    Thomas2016-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place to spend a relaxing vacation. Isa (our host) met us on arrival and departure, she was friendly, helpful and kind. The house design (trullo) is beautiful and interesting and the garden is fragrant and full of plant life. You'll love the hammock! I spent hours swinging back and forth while reading my book. In all, the place is perfect for relaxing and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to "get away from it all" (Goes without saying, you'll need a car to get around as the house is a couple of clicks out of town)

Goede prijs kwaliteit verhouding. Een absolute aanrader.

  • Isabella's Trullo is a magical place in the southern region of Puglia and is one of the best places we have ever stayed in on Airbnb (and we have been traveling all year!). It's in a secluded community of other Trullo homes along a picturesque white gravel country road, surrounded by olive groves and offering a breathtaking view of the valley below. Isa decorated the Trullo with beautiful hand-carved furniture and art. The location is perfect for exploring the Puglia region and all of the historic little towns around it. There's Locorotondo with its white washed buildings and narrow streets, Martina Franca with its beautiful churches, Albertobello with its fairy tale village of 1000+Trulli and many others. Isa knows everything about the region and will help you make the most of it. Our first day we arrived to find fresh fruit, cheese and wine awaiting us in the kitchen. It was my birthday and Isa even left me a delicious birthday cake in the fridge!! We spent a little over 2 weeks at her home and it was one of the most beautiful, relaxing and memorable experiences of our lives. I can't recommend it enough. If it's available, book it immediately and never look back!

On reviendra!

  • This was our first Airbnb experience and what an excellent one it was! Alexis and Lotte made us very welcoe, they are a lovely couple who obviously enjoy sharing their home with other people. The accommodation was just as described, with tasteful furnishings and imaginative layout in their amazing troglodyte house. We enjoyed a very pleasant glass of wine in their garden on arrival. As they no longer provide evening meals they booked us a table at one of their favourite restaurants in Amboise, only a 5 minute drive away, which was indeed very good. In the morning we had one of the best breakfasts of our whole trip, with fresh fruit, egg, ham and plenty of fresh bread, good coffee and tea, juice, etc. We would love to return to see the end results of the work they are doing to create a new apartment in an adjoining cave. Special mention also goes to their lovely pair of cats, in particular their kitten who kept us well entertained during our visit. Many thanks to Alex and Lotte for a very pleasant stay, we certainly hope to return one day.

    François2015-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Alexis and Lotte are exceptional hosts and their troglodyte accommodation is very unique and special. The breakfast provided each morning was also fantastic. We couldn't recommend highly enough!

    Emma2016-05-24T00:00:00Z

  • Excellent host, helpers, house and also the view! We do enjoy the stay so much, highly recommend all of you to enjoy this paradise.

    Charlotte2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible place! We just stayed in Hector Cave House and it exceeded our expectations. Beautiful apartment and incredible view. We ended up getting takeout the whole time we were there because we didn't want to leave the amazing patio and the view. Nice touches like an espresso machine and panini maker were also appreciated. Perfect for our family of four people but woukd also be lovely for a couple. Giannis was very responsive and nice. We will send friends and family here for sure.

    Erin2015-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Hector Cave on Santorini is perfect! Our host could not of been more helpful. He took care of our needs (like transport from the port, taxis to the airport, restaurant recommendations, and help to find a local supermarket) as if we were members of his own family. If you are coming from a quiet Island on Greece (as we had), Santorini had many more tourists. But, the Hector Cave house is a haven from this hustle and bustle as well as a historical treasure.

    Stefanie2012-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Hector's Cave house was the ideal place to stay for our trip in Santorini. It has an excellent location, amazing views, and provided for a great experience in an authentic cave house. I would highly recommend staying here!

    Pratim2012-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • If you are considering this property just book it right now! It was the best experience we have ever had both for hotels and AirBNB!!! Giannis was quick to respond to all our messages and the couple that looks after the house was very helpful with recommendations on what we should do, restaurants and beaches we would like. They also came to make the bed, refresh the towels and empty garbage during the day while we were our which made it feel like a hotel. They also leave you the sweetest little gift as the end of your stay! Giannis works really hard to make your stay special and absolutely nothing beats the view you have from the patio. The only thing was the power went out on our last night here but Giannis said this occasionally happens and it came back on after a couple hours.

    Kevin2018-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • This cave house is AMAZING! My wife and I stayed here for a few days after getting married in the island and we fell in love with the place. The location is brilliant and service provided by Giannis, Dana and Dimitris is second to none. I would most definitely recommend this house and would love to return in the not-so-distant future!

    Aashish2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures do not do this home justice; it is purely magical. Clean, private with stunning views of the caldera - we had to pull ourselves away from the patio to actually explore the rest of the island. Hector Cave House is a special place, and Giannis and the team go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect! Thank you, thank you!

    Candice2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at the Hector Cave House! Giannis's went above and beyond from check in to check out. It was our best experience with Airbnb yet! The house is a minute away from the overlook for sunsets and there are shops and restaurants only minutes away. There was a lot of parking close by too! We were there with a one year old and the house was very accessible (not too many stairs). The view from the house was unbelievable and the hospitality extended to us made our trip. We would 100% stay here again!

  • After a 3 days excursion in the desert, we were more than happy to reach this gorgeous and peaceful riad! The host was perfect and made us feel home. The building and rooms are amazing: the room was wide and superbly decored with rich and warm materials. Quality bedding and confortable suites. One of the best kept secret in Marrakech: eating a tagine in the beautiful central garden of this riad. Honestly, the tagine we ate there was superb: by far the best we had in Morocco! You should try it and won't be disapointed! If you are looking for and authentic riad in Marrakech, this one will be just perfct for you! Special thanks to the host!!

  • If you are fortunate enough to find availability at this riad, you will not be disappointed. It is a beautiful home and Simone the host was extremely kind and accommodating. I highly recommend staying here.

  • The Cozy Palace was a pleasant room in Riad Bamileke, just off the main square (Jamaa El-Fna) in the Marrakech medina. The Riad itself is a one minute walk along an alley which seemed slightly daunting at first. However there was a reasonable amount of traffic and we had no issues. The Riad was quiet, the staff were friendly, breakfast very tasty and we really enjoyed our stay.

    Ralph2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Alberto was a pleasure to deal with: a cool gentleman. The room was beautiful and in a great location. And the dinner was the best we had in Marrakech - delicious! We will return.

  • Amazing place! Beautiful spacious roum, great terrace and friendly host. Definitely go there if you can!

    Wyneke2013-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing riad! We had such a good time. Simone was an extremely good host. The riad was lovely and very accomodating. We appreciated having our own keys to the front door as well. They even managed to squeeze us in for an extra night last minute! Highly reccommended!

    Tina2012-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • This suite is very spacious and is beautifully decorated. The suite is as shown in the photos. Unfortunately, the AC did not work and we were told that it had not worked for " a while." We would have appreciated being made aware of this prior to our arrival. We were provided a fan, but could have used 2 fans given the large size of the space. The Riad was much harder to find than we anticipated. We were arriving with a tour guide after our Sahara Desert tour, and even he had a lot of trouble finding the place. We called the number listed on the page and it was not correct. I did message Reb when this happened, and did was able to provide us with a number for someone working at the Riad. However, I would have preferred to have the correct number from the start, or perhaps clearer instructions on finding the Riad. Our welcome to the Riad was not on par with the welcomes we received at other Riads in Morocco. There was no "welcome mint tea", no maps, no discussion about how to use the Riad amenities. Overall, the space is beautiful and the interaction with the host was sub-par.

  • Our stay at Mar's apartment was our very first experience of Airbnb and the bar been set high! The apartment was stunning, obviously decorated with a painstaking eye for detail. The communal area was perfect for our group of 7 to sit together in a way no hotel could match. All amenities were easy to use and we felt spoilt and pampered just being there. This made our stay in Barcelona simply unforgettable. Mar as a host could not have been better. She was in regular contact prior to our attendance, she was waiting for us on arrival and was so sweet and accommodating. We hope we get the chance to return to this immaculate apartment. If you are currently flicking through places to stay in Barcelona, look no further, do not hesitate, book this place!

    Jennifer2014-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time in Mar's apartment. Our arrival was perfect with Felix showing us around! 3 large bedrooms and wonderful bathrooms with stunning furniture. A well fitted kitchen and spacious lounge area topped it all off.

  • Mar’s place is a terrific option for a group stay in Barcelona. It is very well located, even more spacious and airy than it looks in the pictures and extremely well appointed. I can highly recommend staying at Mar’s and would come here again myself if I ever visit Barcelona again with friends.

    Sue2018-09-29T00:00:00Z

  • Great getaway cabin for our winter trip. Central to Kirkwood, Sierra, and Heavenly. The space was just right for 3-4 adults and 2 kids. Its a little drive to South Tahoe but not bad at all. Will be going back!

  • We could not have asked for better hosts than Ryan and Darnie! They were great! They immediately responded to and answered all our questions before, during, and after our stay at their home. Their home is super clean, welcoming, cozy, and beautifully remodeled. It has all the rustic ambiance you'd expect in a Tahoe cabin with all the amenities of home. It was perfect for our family. My kids loved the bunk beds! The neighborhood was lovely, quiet, and within close driving distance of Lake Tahoe and other attractions. We will definitely recommend R&D's place to our friends travelling to the area and we hope to come back ourselves as soon as possible!

    Kristina2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome stay at Ryan's Chalet! The place was very clean, with fully stocked kitchen and a big a deck with BBQ. We stayed there for an extended weekend and absolutely loved it.

  • Amazing home with a cozy feel. Very spacious and all amenities were a plus. Owners were very courteous and quick to respond with any questions. Definitely will recommend this to any family or friend.

  • Very clean, nice and cozy!!!! Hubby and I will 100% be returning to this location in the future. M&S

  • The house is comfortable and very clean, located on a quiet residential neighborhood near the airport. The hosts provide a well-curated selection of DVD classics, so you're sure to find something to please the group. Great place for families, very nicely appointed though a bit cozy and sound insulation is limited. Overall, great stay and recommended.

A sturdy cabin with lots of natural light, right in a flowerful garden. It will feel like living outdoors, while inside the cabin there is a lingering aroma of larix wood and crackling of the woodstove.
This charming garden room has a 180 degrees garden view, with large windows in the front and in the roof. (Full length curtains for the windows allow for privacy.) In the cabin you will find a comfortable bed with good mattress - size 165cm by 205cm and plushy pillows. A comfortable desk and chair, free WiFi – to read or even finish some work. Water cooker and drinking water available. Besides being well-suited for the summer, it is also very cozy for the autumn and winter because of the romantic woodstove. The bathroom and toilet are just a few steps away in the main house. Inside the cabin itself is a faucet for water and thanks to good suggestions from guests there is now a chemical toilet for a pee in the night. We don't offer breakfast or cooking facilities, but her you get quietness and romance :) A small stream meanders past the front of the cabin. In the evening the garden is nicely lighted and makes for a beautiful sight and there are multiple sitting areas in the garden. And chickens to enjoy :) - no roosters! The cabin is about 8mts behind our house. Welcome!
The location is in the largest natural area of the Netherlands. The area is great for both walking and bicycling (if you did not bring your own, we have two you can borrow). Many short and long walking and biking routes through heathlands, woods and meadows start within a kilometer from the house. Also within walking distance (800 meter) are the town centre (with shops and several decent restaurants) and swimming pool. Lakes (including beaches) are 5 kilometers away.
  • So amazing experience! Thank you very much! If I will visit Netherlands again, I will book this room again!!

  • Our stay at the charming garden room was a very pleasant experience. Bea and Frans gave us a warm welcome and surprised us with a beautiful bunch of flowers out of their own garden. The room is very cosy with a lot of sweet and surprising details. Everything was as descripted in the profile and very comfortable. The atmosphere of the garden was beautiful. Our hosts were also very helpful with information about the area. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Uli2015-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Because I haven't found anything in the reviews that touches on the following subject: There is a watercooker, tea, coffee and anything you might need in the morning which was a very pleasant thing. Otherwise I can only say that Bea and Frans are amazing hosts, not only because the cabin is exactly as described and they are very nice and warm people but also because they didn't hesitate a second to help me by picking me up, because the train tracks were blocked, so the train out of Amsterdam couldn't arrive in ermelo! Our trip in November was very rainy and thus cold but the wood stove in the cabin warms it up again after sleeping. The mattress and especially the pillows are very comfortable and I admit that I miss the coziness haha. Truly an awesome experience!

    Nikola2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • This has been the best experience I've had so far since I've discovered Airbnb. Bea and Frans are amazing hosts and the gardenroom was exactly as described. We had no problem whatsoever and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of peace and quiet with a romantice fireplace. Oh, the fireplace.... I shall miss it so! Thank you and looking forward to staying there again in the near future! Greetings to the chickens!

  • A comfortable ryad in a good location. Francoise was very good about sending all the necessary information about our stay in Marrakech before our arrival; and our pick-up and meal at the house was well organised by her. Thank you Francoise.

  • Our stay at Dar Ahwach was just perfect. The Riad is beautiful, just like in the photos. Sabah the housekeeper is such a lovely person who made delicious breakfast. We loved talking to her in the morning and she gave us good recommendations. We highly recommend this Riad. Thank you for having us.

    David2015-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I spent a one week vacation at this place. First of all: Francoise (host) is an accessible nature in every way. She responded to every question we had. The place was better than described in the profile. It is an amazin place in the middle of the old town of Marrakech. It is magical to sit in the pool during the Muezzins call with the very detailed Moroccanian interior of the house. Most of all the matron of the house Sabah is such a friendly, polite and grateful human being. Taken together a very special Airbnb expierence.

    Christoph2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay in Marrakesh! Thank you Francoise, you made everything very easy for us, arranging pick ups, providing restaurant recommendations and and much more. The riad was amazing, even better than the photos. It was clean, tidy, very spacious and beautifully decorated. The location was great, close enough for us to walk to all the main sites in the Medina. Would highly recommend this place and would love to return one day.

    Sarah2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Francoise's place was a beautiful riad to stay in and a perfect way to experience Marrakech. It's a great location and Sabbah and Fayssal are brilliant and will help with anything they can!

  • Dar Ahwach is truly a special place! The riad is beautiful & is in a great location. The housekeeper, Sabah, was so warm & welcoming! Also, Fayssal, the driver was amazing & very accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

This bamboo cottage is a secluded eco retreat down a quiet foot path nestled in the rice fields and only a five minute walk to central Ubud. Open air basket weave bedroom with mini loft, modern elegant bathroom and outdoor living area make this a truly unique Bali experience.
This is a woven house made almost entirely of bamboo. It is open air and as close to living in nature as you get. Our main lodge is down a private foot path only accessible to cottage guests. if you choose to join us for dinner, a swim or for socializing with other guests you are welcome to enjoy this common space with a saltwater pool and a swing. :)
This is a hidden spot literally just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Ubud with its restaurants and shops, but it feels lost in time and like a total retreat. In the day you will only meet rice farmers and local women blessing the rice. At night you will only see fireflies and hear the rushing river, crickets and the distant sounds of the temple. An evening massage is a great way to end the day at sunset on the terrace. We have an in house masseuse who is available by appointment.
  • It is a very nice place, great view, very open. It could be too open for some people but for me and my husbund, we really like it.

    Kantaya2013-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights and were happy with everything. You really are sleeping in the midst of the rice fields -- very calm and picturesque. (Obviously there are mosquitos, but there is mosquito netting!) You're not in the centre of Ubud, but we walked in without problem. The staff were extremely helpful and the food was lovely.

    Alex2015-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very cool. Definitely meant for the more hardcore backpacker/camper. The space is very exposed to nature and the walk to the cottage is a 5 minutes through the rice fields. Beautiful, but a bit long. Even though the surrounding area is open to some nice breezes, it can get quite hot at night. Now for the good parts! The sunset out the front door was so so beautiful. The space is very cool, from architecture to location. BE SURE to ask about the communal spaces a little further down the path. There is a kitchen, lounge space and shard pool for you and the rest of then guests of the complex. We missed the opportunity to use these spaces as they weren't shown to us earlier in our stay. The staff is AMAZINGLY friendly and attentive. Such cool people with such a cool facility. These place is definitely a hidden gem for the right kind of traveler.

    Jesse2016-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place! Our favorite 3 days of our trip were spent in this gorgeous valley of rice fields, smiling faces, and this unique and magical bamboo cottage. For about $60 per night you get a delicious morning breakfast, 24 hour staff available to help you, 360 degree view of greenery, rice fields, crickets, frogs, geckos, a rushing stream. It doesn't get much better. Icing on the cake, about 5 minute walk from a home run spa that has great services for very cheap. You can take a bath after your massage with a unhindered view of the rice paddies. 100% recommended!!

    Karen2016-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the bamboo cottage was an opportunity to reconnect with nature. There were no doors, no air conditioning (a challenge itself in the sweltering heat of Ubud!) and the noises we heard were largely the calls of insects and geckos. The bathroom was open air and looked out into the open sky. The cottage was just as stated, a return to basics but with some basic technological support. Star gazing was a great experience. We watched fireflies dance and my buddy swears that she spotted a civet! Unfortunately, on our first day, the provided phone and wifi connection had run out of credit leaving us out of touch with the support staff and generally everything else. With no fresh water provided in the cottage, we traipsed to the main house only to be sent away like naughty children due to an 'event' that was taking place. If you drink a lot of water like we do, this was an issue. The laid back nature of Bali usually meant that requests are followed up on 20 to 30 minutes later. We had no choice but to wait for water deliveries. So ask for more water whenever you can. The cottage was also on the 'main road' which meant that every guest at the main house would go past the front door when they return at night. Sometimes they would shine their powerful LED flashlights right into the cottage. An annoying but unavoidable occurrence. The portions for the daily breakfast were also a little small. Standard fare included 2 eggs and bread with coffee or tea. Because we were doing yoga and walking out the city centre, we got pretty hungry. We usually had to 'top up' on our meal outside. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the bamboo cottage. Wayan and rest of the support staff were friendly and did their best to make our stay a lovely one. If I could make any suggestions, it would be to check wifi and phone connections before the arrival of each guest and have drinking water available in the cottage itself.

    Melissa2016-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • It's a little way out of Ubud, well within comfortable walking distance however. And the location is perfect. It's a beautiful escape from the loud busy streets of Ubud.

    Jon2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The host is an American woman who is very friendly and checks in on us at least once a day and offering to help us organise day tours and giving good recommendations on where to eat. The place is exactly as we imagined it to be, even better, although it felt a little weird the first night, sleeping in a room with no doors to lock (we had arrived at night and were unable to tell what our surroundings looked like). But morning brought us an unbelievably fantastic view of rice fields and a peaceful flowing stream. A word of caution to those who are trying a place like this for the first time. This place is really basic in terms of its amenities. Being in the open means you'll have occasional visits by mosquitoes, lizards, wasps and even spiders (which may not be everyone's cup of tea), but you'll definitely enjoy the lovely singing birds in the day and the fireflies at night. A combination of mosquito coil, insect repellent spray and repellent patch worked well for us. The 3-minute walk into this haven from the main road is narrow and difficult to navigate if you have large heavy suitcases. The staff can usually help you with it (by holding it over their heads), but to make things easier, you might want to consider backpacks instead. Bring your own shampoo and soap (or buy some from the handmade soap factory nearby, right next to the host's own house!). Also, those with long hair might want to bring a hairdryer. Wifi is provided but bring your own plug adaptors. We loved the unique house design that is well integrated with the beautiful and natural surroundings. We also enjoyed just sitting at the patio to have breakfast or tea. Also, we highly recommend asking the host to arrange for a full body massage at the house itself. If you are a couple, she can arrange for two masseuse. Enjoying a soothing massage under the darkening evening sky is one of the most unforgettable experiences ever!

    Bc2014-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting and hut. Was lovely to escape the busyness of Ubud and retreat here. Wayan and ketut were lovely. I got a phone while there on the second day which was handy to arrange someone to meet me at night, when it worked! The third night it wasn't working for some reason which meant I had to walk 2 of the 3 nights along the dark trail, which I didn't find pleasant. It's not unsafe as such but not pleasant for lone traveller. Other than this, it was really lovely and special experience! I also would recommend getting a lamp light next to bed, so one can read at night. Lovely having shower under the stars! Lovely terrace to sit and eat breakfast!

  • I booked this unit for my parents for five nights. They absolutely loved the view from the property. It was quite breath taking and they snapped pictures every time they stepped outside. DNA are both great guys, they went above and beyond to make my parents comfortable. They were both beyond accommodating and worked as team to provide exceptional customer service. Dennis was present for check-in and even went as far as assisting my father with the luggage. The property was quite, clean, modernly decorated and the perfect retreat for their visit.

  • Such a lovely place to stay. The neighborhood is quiet and this was a great spot to relax. The views and landscaping are extra special, and you’re nearby some great neighborhoods. Not a walkable hood so you’ll need a car or the ubiquitous Lyft/Uber. DnA are awesome hosts, very responsive and super helpful. Definitely recommend staying here.

  • We were 5 people who stayed for 3 nights in Gunnar's apartment. The apartment is lovely, we fell in love with it and did not want to leave. it had everything you would wish for and more. The kitchen is well equipped, it had all kinds of pots, pans and dishes, there is a coffee machine and a grill. We enjoyed the stunning view of Akuryri from the living room through the huge floor to ceiling window. The nieghbourhood was quiet, it was close to the town yet far enough to give a feeling of exclusion and calmness. Thank you Gunnar for an amazing experience:)

    Manar2018-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • Gunnar's place is always excellent. Iceland is a bit busy for my taste in Summer, but this villa is a perfect escape into serenity and seclusion - really a way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists. Highly recommended. Excellent for couple and for families. Use the hot tube.

  • Our stay was very pleasant in the house. The house is equipped very well. ( hot pot, BBQ etc). It is the perfect start point to discover the northern area.

    Glee2017-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! After a long drive we walked in to a beautiful view of Akureyri and a spacious house that would end up being our favorite of the trip. It's a great distance away from town giving you the feeling of being secluded, yet only about 5-7 minutes from the heart of Akureyri (by car). We did have a bit of a hard time finding the place, but Gunnar was patient and helpful. As a tip for others, cross over to the East side of the water (over the bridge). Drive North for a little bit and turn right (I think it was the second right). On the right side you'll see a set of three mailboxes, take a right there and drive straight in. It's MUCH easier to find during the day.

This spacious, unparalleled cave house, hanging on the cliffs of the caldera in the center of Oia, is part of a traditional complex of cave houses, owned & renovated by a family of architects.
Crowning a unique complex of cave houses which used to serve as the old bakery of the settlement, and just a moment from the main pedestrian street of Oia, lays the remarkable cave house of sculptural aesthetics. Originally renovated for personal use by local craftsmen, the house perfectly combines traditional style with comfort. The plasticity of its forms, the use of local techniques, the built in beds and the selection of antique furniture together with the modern amenities, strike the right balance between sophistication and coziness. The cave house has two private bedrooms one of which was actually the old cistern, now transformed into a cocoon, cave room. This couples' nest, is five organic-formed steps sideways and below the main level of the house, with an emperor size (200 x 200 cm) built in bed and vintage wooden furniture. The original path that was naturally created by the cliff structure, connecting the two caves which form this house, leads to the master bedroom, on the other side of the house, maintaining the original architectural plan. With a private entrance, two windows and a door that separates it from the rest of the house, this bright and spacious bed room comfortably fits an oak queen size bed (160 x 200 cm), a large desk with a chair, an antique bookcase and a handcrafted mirror. Both bedrooms are equipped with high quality latex mattresses. In the commodious, off-white living room, a warm and relaxing corner has been created by the two large built in sofa beds (easily accommodating two for sleep) and the square beech wood coffee table. On the side, a solid, oak wood dining table is surrounded be a wooden and a built in bench, comfortably sitting a company of six for a luscious meal, right next to the fully equipped kitchen. There, an oven, ceramic hot plates, refrigerator, coffee machine, electric kettle, toaster and cutlery ensure your stay will be as convenient as possible. The bathroom, deeply curved in the cave, with off white local stucco technique and marble from Crete, has a handcrafted marble wash basin and rain shower. Outdoors, the private terraces expand on different levels literally on the rim of the caldera, creating unique angles and comfortable sitting spaces. You have travelled miles in order to come here; this is the time that you can finally dip in the white washed, semi cave whirlpool. Grasp the serenity and beauty of the sensational, unobstructed view of the volcano. The caldera, the sea and the sky which will undoubtedly leave you breathless. Enjoy!
Oia is the most picturesque coastal town on the northwestern tip of Santorini. The town has whitewashed houses carved into the rugged clifftops, and overlooks a vast caldera filled with water.
  • Lovely place, host very helpful, definitely recommend.

  • Gute Kommunikation, Service mit dem Gepäck. Sehr sauber. Und man hat das Gefühl, willkommen zu sein. Einmalige Aussicht. Die "Apéro-Zeit" auf der Terrasse ist unglaublich.

  • Beautiful view, just spectacular! Clean home, high end amenities, unbelievable front patio space. No sunset views but we thoroughly enjoyed the scenes. Close to everything! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the downstairs bedroom was not very ventilated and less comfortable than the upstairs bedroom. Otherwise, no complaints, great space and near cave home!

  • Amazing place. Stunning view from a cool private terrace. Perfect location for a group of friends or a family. Laskarina was very accommodating.

  • Stop looking and book this place! Gorgeous cave house with amazing outside area, and the view is beyond words. We can not speak highly enough of Laskarina and her husband, right from the very first email they were fantastic. Great restaurant recommendations, organised our car hire, nothing was too much for them and they even shared some fresh eggs with us for our daughter. We travelled with our 8 nth old and the house was perfect for the 3 of us. When can we go back??????

  • Just like to say a big thank you to Laskarina and John for a fabulous holiday in their beautiful cave house. Unbelievably accommodating, will organize transfers for you, book tours at incredibly reasonable prices and all at the time after having a baby 38days prior to our arrival! Just a wonderful wonderful 7 days of bliss in OIa. A retreat from the crowds, a perfect, peaceful sunny spots for relaxing, on the whole a fantastic house for rent.

  • My family and I stayed at Laskarina's beautiful cave house for 5 blissful days. As everyone else has mentioned, the photos really don't do the view justice - it is far more stunning in real-life. The accommodation was clean and someone even came to change the towels/sheets every few days. Laskarina was very helpful and answered any questions within 24 hours - we even messaged her to say her chair had ripped and she had replaced it by the time we were home after a couple of hours! As mentioned before, the location is very central but we slept well every night with no noise. Definitely book this place, we would recommend it to everyone.

Oak paneled walls, wooden window shutters, and warm parquet floors surround you. Choose from hundreds of books and read in a secret bed box behind floor-to-ceiling shelves. Family portraits and heirlooms happily coexist with works of modern art.
Romantic and stylish apartment, It's the perfect base from which to explore Edinburgh from. I've already had some great people come and stay, so I welcome you to my home. Edinburgh castle is a short walk away from the apartment, and the National Gallery, St Giles Cathedral, National Museum of Scotland are all close by. My apartment is on the fourth floor of an 18th Century tenement with views on to the historic Royal Mile. With all mod cons and a unique location, this is the perfect apartment to have as a base while you explore Edinburgh. The apartment retains the unique character of the Old Town with oak panelled walls and parquet flooring, mixed with family portraits, antiques and works of art, but also all the modern comforts of a home. It is on the fourth floor and is reached by a spiral staircase (76 steps in all!) For our American cousins that's a walkup :-) There is no elevator. The apartment is South facing and full of light by day. The hall has a cupboard to hang clothes/store shoes etc. There is also an ironing board/iron and a hair dryer kept here as well. The bathroom has a bath and a shower, there is always hot water and plenty of towels for you to have. Then through the main door off the hall, is the open plan living space. Five full height original Georgian sash windows face you as you walk into the space. Floor to ceiling book cases and a large period fireplace with French empire over-mantle mirror. There is free wifi throughout the apartment, also a big collection of fiction/history/cookery/poetry/art/design books to while away the time with and I have a music/radio player with an eclectic choice of C.Ds. Plus cards and board games. A large kitchen space with character and all the modern cons - toaster, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, oven, kettle, induction hob etc. However I don't own a microwave. There is a washing machine and there is washing liquid capsules for it under the sink, just put one of these inside the washing machine drum and close the door and turn to what ever setting you want. I do not have a dryer (it's not that typical here in Scotland/Europe) what I do have is a clothes horses which you can hang your clothes on. Their kept folded up in the hall cupboard. I hate staying in apartments on holiday where there aren't even any basics to cook with like salt and olive oil, so the kitchen is stocked with all the usual larder fare to help yourself to if you're cooking in. Plus coffee and all sorts of teas. I also have an honesty bar if you want to finish off with a drink or two after a long day of walking around town. By the windows is the generous dining space with oak dinning table and six chairs. The bed is a unique 'bedbox chamber' made from architectural salvaged fitted Scottish 18th/19th century carved oak. A floor to ceiling hidden panelled door lets you into this cosy space with reading lights on the headboard and it is fitted out with a British king size mattress - width 150cm and length 200cm, white cotton sheets, pillows and duvet. Mary Queen of Scots would feel quite at home sleeping in it! The living room area of the apartment is tucked at the West side of the room and has two good size sofas, reading lamps and is perfect to socialize in and also have quiet time with a good book. I hope to hear from you. I'm more than happy to answer any questions or give advice about Edinburgh/restaurants/bars etc All the best Calim
Edinburgh is beautiful and historic. This apartment is in the oldest part of the city, close to the castle. Museums, restaurants, and good coffee shops are really close by, as are the train station and airport links.
  • Excellent location, the place is as beautiful as the pictures, we loved staying there. Calim's attention to detail is great. We would not have picked a better place. Thank you for all you have done for us. Simon and Charles.

  • If we could have stayed in Calim's flat forever, we would have. It was honestly even more beautiful than we expected - even with others aptly describing it as right out of a magazine. Upon arrival, we were met by Matthew, a friend of Calim's who had a pot of tea waiting for us and had picked up some basic amenities for us - so thoughtful! He gave us a detailed tour, recommendations for places to visit/eat/drink and generally made us feel extremely welcome. The flat itself is gorgeous filled with beautiful art books and a great selection of music. The unique bedroom was so cool, we honestly felt like we were in a fairy tale. The location was outstanding, right on the Royal Mile, an easy walk to restaurants, shops, tourism and transportation while still not too loud and noisy. We honestly felt like we had just stumbled into a home we didn't know we had in Scotland. I can't say enough good things about this flat.

  • Calim's artfully decorated apartment could not be in a better spot! James Court is right on the Royal Mile, a couple of minutes walk from St Giles and Edinburgh Castle. It is a wonderful old building, and although the apartment has been renovated with all the bells and whistles, it retains much of it's original character and charm. The large windows let in plenty of light and can be opened up, looking down onto the street. The apartment was well stocked with essentials and even has a bar that works on an honour system. Calim even left us fresh milk, juice, bread, butter and eggs etc! It was really easy to communicate with Calim and he always responded promptly - really friendly and a charm to deal with. Highly recommended!

  • Loved staying at Calim's place! The location couldn't be any better. We arrived by train and it was about a 15 min. walk. Shouldn't be a problem if you have smaller bags (ours were bigger so we just took our time). Also, you're within walking distance to the castle right in the heart of old town. The interior of the apartment is exquisite with stylish, classic details throughout. It was also lovely walking into the apartment hearing classical music (Calim really set the mood). Our arrival time kept changing and Calim was extremely responsive and flexible to accommodate our arrival. Calim has really thought of everything you could possibly need. He was a wonderful host and had great recommendations of places to eat. We had an amazing dinner at the Outsider with a beautiful view of the castle. Be sure to make a reservation there! One thing to note is that my husband felt the bed was a little too soft. He had back surgery a couple years ago so we sleep on a firmer mattress at home. Just something to keep in mind if this would be an issue for you too. Otherwise we felt it was the perfect place to stay in Edinburgh! We would definitely recommend staying here.

  • Calim's apartment was exquisite and the little touches meant we had a great time, we wish we could have stayed longer. Calim was extremely helpful and welcoming, and his beautiful apartment has everything one might need for a great stay in Edinburgh. His restaurant and 'to do' suggestions were spot on and increased the enjoyment we got out of staying there. Thanks Calim, we had a great time.

  • My boyfriend and I spent 2 nights in Calim's flat and loved it! It's in a great central location near all the tourist sites and nice pubs and bars etc. We would both highly recommend this flat!!

  • We loved our stay at Calim's wonderful flat. He was incredibly helpful and accommodating both before and during our visit. I would highly recommend this apartment (which really is as stylish as it looks) and we certainly hope to return here next time we visit Edinburgh.

  • Dear Calim What a wonderful flat, perfect location and a very warm welcome. Your flat is elegant, exceptionally comfortable and has some beautifully quirky bits - like the box bed! Your kindness was touching - bread, milk, tea, coffee - and honesty system for a lovely selection of wines. Also, the fabulous pre-stay recommendations of things to do, places to eat etc. were really helpful. We ate at Ondine (delicious seafood) but the gem was Cafe St Honore - outstanding! You deserve to do very well on airbnb - I've already recommended you to my sister! Anyone else thinking of booking - I have nothing but praise for Calim and his place. Thanks a million Jane & Mike
