Stargaze by the fire pit and enjoy the silence. Discover a renovated barn with wood burner, rustic finishes, and living room doors that open to a gorgeous private patio and lawn. Then get out and explore vineyards, castles, gardens and stately homes.
Our holiday let is set in the grounds of our 15th century house, yet it is not overlooked. It has recently been refurbished (March 2017) and we have tried to make it the kind of place we like to stay in ourselves. The large, light-filled, open plan living/kitchen/dining area has floor to ceiling bi-fold doors opening out onto its own garden. Sit outside - choose from the table and chairs or the big double sun lounger - and listen to the birdsong or go for a stroll in the meadow. By night you can enjoy a starry sky by the light of the fire pit, which also has a grill for BBQ - or marshmallow toasting! The decor inside is 'country cool' - luxuriously comfortable and with nods to the area's heritage as 'The Garden of England', including vintage apple crates used as kitchen shelves and a framed photo of workers in a local hop field in the 1940s. In fact our house next door was, until recently, the farmhouse for the surrounding hop farm which still operates in the traditional way - one of the last remaining in Kent! There's a bedroom with king sized bed and garden views. The bed linen is 600 thread count finest Egyptian cotton, the duvets and pillows goose down. There's a Moroccan style shower room. Things are kept cosy with underfloor heating and fluffy rugs, a woodburner, soft bathrobes and slippers. Board games, books and DVDs will keep you busy plus there's free WiFi and a large flatscreen TV with freeview. The kitchen has all the essential equipment - whether you want to cook up a feast or simply prepare snacks to sustain you in between visiting the many excellent restaurants in the area. We provide a welcome hamper including milk, bread, butter and eggs plus a bottle of local wine to kick off your stay. You will find olive oil, salt, pepper, dried herbs and spices, tea, coffee and sugar. There's washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, cloths and cleaning products and, in the bathroom, heavenly Aromatherapy Associates body wash, shampoo and conditioner. We also provide logs for the woodburner and for the firepit. End of stay cleaning is included. John is a rehabilitation specialist and also teaches Nordic Walking and Pilates. So let us know when you are booking if you are interested in knowing more. We can offer private 'Learn to Nordic Walk' stays - a lovely safe way to exercise, to discover the local countryside and learn a skill that you can use when you return home - visit (Website hidden by Airbnb) if you'd like to read about this increasingly popular activity. Likewise, if you have a niggling problem with your back, knee, shoulder...whatever!...speak to us about having private rehabilitation or remedial massage in the studio, which is right next to the holiday let. One-to-one and two-to-one Pilates can also be taught here. Alternatively, book a whole weekend or week long 'overhaul', with several hours of mixed exercise and advice on diet and lifestyle. It's all possible...Let us know what you want and we can tailor something to fit. ...

  • Stunning retreat in beautiful surroundings. Emma has thought of everything and her and her family couldn't have been more helpful or flexible during our stay. We would like to move in ;-)

  • Everything you need in a weekend break! Thoughtful touches ! Wine and bread, butter, milk etc The house is so clean and stunningly put together. The added bonus of being able to do exercise there - Nordic walking and Pilates was amazing and everyone should try! John was a great teacher! Actually I would of liked a hot tub! But think I am being very picky now.... it’s great we will be back for sure! Cannot wait.

  • We had such a lovely time at this gorgeous place. The extra touches make so much difference and he decor was stunning. Thank you for having us x

  • beautiful holiday let in a great location for walks and close to loads of fun things to do. The hosts have some excellent local recommendations!

  • We had a nice time in a lovely property

  • My girlfriend and I came up for a couple of days as we had a wine tasting at Chapel Down and thought we should make an experience of it. The accommodation was an absolute extension of that. A beautiful place that had the amenities, attention to detail and decor that made it a really special countryside getaway. We dealt mainly with Emma who was very friendly, and helped us settle in well. We felt welcomed and comfortable, which certainly enhanced our experience. We had a memorable time and would certainly recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

  • Such a wonderful place! We really enjoyed our stay - it was the perfect place to go to just after our wedding! We were able to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. There is a nice selection of DVDs too which helped when it rained! The guest guidebook had so many wonderful things in it you could never get bored! 100% recommend!

  • A perfect, romantic retreat in the Kentish countryside. The barn is well appointed, very comfortable and the garden and lounger are a perfect way to relax at the end of the day. A peaceful location but less than 10 minutes by car from Tenterden with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants and an endless supply of local places to visit. A splendid base to explore this part of Kent and Sussex. If you are looking for a little cosy luxury, this is the place. We hope to return.

Saint Michaels, Tenterden, Kent, England, Wielka Brytania

A top-notch conversion of a small flint and brick cart shed alongside a beautifully restored 300-yearold oak barn. It feels private too, with its own little courtyard garden, colourful borders, terracotta pots, teak table and chairs – catch the morning rays with an al fresco breakfast. Inside all is fresh, bright, light and comfortable. Beautiful oak floors are toasty underfoot, there are chunky beams, thick fabrics, white sofas, French doors out the courtyard and heaps of books. The bedroom makes great use of the space with its fine painted bed, so settle down with best linen, feather and down duvets, views across the garden, and a fully-tiled walk-in shower that’s state of the art. A generous welcome basket includes a bottle of wine should you be staying the week, the flat-screen TV comes with oodles of DVDs, there’s a fully equipped kitchen in one corner and kind owners next door to provide continental breakfast or evening meals should you want them; lovers will take root. There’s walking through woods and paths for the more adventurous, and Canterbury Faversham and Whitstable are near. Nearby Ashford has high speed train link to london only 38 miutes away. Charming.
We are located in a listed "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" surrounded by fields and woods...mainly sweet Chestnut. There are plenty of good walks in the area including the famous "Pilgrims Way". Just wandering around the local country lanes with hedgerow wildlife, farms and country pubs is highly recommended. This is true "Darling Buds of May" country.
  • We had a truly lovely stay at the Cart Shed. I had just finished work before maternity leave and it was the perfect little bolt hole to totally relax. We were welcomed by Scott and then were totally left to our own devices so it felt very private despite being very close to Scott and Lizzie's own home. The shortbread and homemade jams/breakfast provisions were much appreciated!

  • My girlfriend and I recently spent a lovely, long weekend at The Cart Shed. Everything was perfect, from the beautiful surrounding area to the tastefully decorated cottage. Lizzie and Scott were marvellous hosts. They were very welcoming and offered us helpful advice about the local area as well as lending us some great dvds! The welcome hamper was delightful and the shortbread was delicious! A prefect way to get settled in. I can't recommend the Cart Shed highly enough.

  • Charming annex, blissfully quiet and tastefully decorated. We wanted somewhere we could relax and go for a nice long country walk and it was perfect. Scott and Lizzie were very friendly and left all the essentials for our arrival including homemade scones and jam which was a lovely touch. Thanks for a lovely stay!

  • Lovely little place in the Kent countryside. Quiet and peaceful. The bed was very very comfortable! Good strong, hot power shower too. There is a lovely outdoor space which gets the morning sun so perfect to sit out and have breakfast. Scott was there when we arrived and was very welcoming. There was homemade jams, chocolate brownie and cheese biscuits left for us as well as tea, coffee, milk, bread and butter. Absolutely lovely little place. The only negative point is that there were quite a few cobwebs and spiders. This is probably to be expected in the countryside but a little scary for an arachnophobe!! Overall a beautiful place in a lovely location with excellent hosts - would definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway.

  • We have just stayed at the cart shed and it was perfect! Scott and Lizzie were very welcoming and we loved the personal extras. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

  • The Cart Shed is a delightful 'cottage', set in the lovely grounds of Scott & Lizzie's beautiful barn. We were barely in the driveway when we were welcomed with Scott's beaming smile - instantly putting us at ease. Freshly laid eggs from their hens (so much nicer than supermarket ones!) welcomed us inside, alongside Waitrose croissants, OJ, bread, ground coffee, and devine home-baked shortbread & jams :-) The interior is very tastefully & thoughtfully presented to a very high standard, and is perfect for a few days' visit (or longer). We only stayed here two days, but managed a trip to Whitstable & beautiful Canterbury. So much more to see in this delightful unspoilt part of the world. We ate in the Five Bells at Brabourne - Kent's Dining Pub of the Year - stunning inn with a fantastic menu - can't recommend it enough. We also dined at the Three Mariners in Oare - more a local that also does great food - would also recommend. When asking for restaurant/pub recommendations, Scott even offered to pick us up afterwards, if we fancied a drink - "all part of the service" he said! Reading other reviews, it seems that Scott/Lizzie could even cook a meal for you. Find a hotel that's as amenable & friendly as this!! That said, we were left alone, but was very comforting to know that we would be looked after if we did need anything. Scott & Lizzie's 20+ years each in the catering industry definitely show, and they know which buttons to push! We can't recommend the Cart Shed (and Scott & Lizzie) enough - and we will definitely be returning a number of times... Thank you both so much for making our stay so perfect. Bev & Stu

  • Scott and Lizzie made us feel most welcome when we arrived at The Cart Shed. It was a great place to wind down after three months travelling around the U.K. and Europe. We enjoyed the space, peace and tranquil setting, all within an hours drive of the drop off point for our hire car at Gatwick. The Cart Shed also provided us with a central point from where we were able to explore this beautiful South Eastern corner of England, returning to our own familiar "digs" each evening. Thanks to Scott too for the most enjoyable laundry session (waiting for the cycle to finish over a bottle of wine).

  • Scott and Lizzie were very welcoming even though we turned up later than expected. The Cart Shed was as described and a perfect get away for the weekend. It had everything we needed and the breakfast hamper was a lovely touch. My boyfriend particularly loved the home-made shortbread! The guides/maps on the local walks came in handy! Would definitely recommend staying here!

  • I am a regular airbnb user and Charlie's cottage is well up there in my favourite places I've stayed in. The cottage is super clean, stylish and filled with the loveliest touches. We cannot wait to return!

  • Absolutely wonderful place to stay - Charlie was an amazing host and the cottage was fabulous! We were left a lovely hamper of food and everything was in perfect condition around the cottage. Would recommended to anyone - this place is a little gem :)

  • We had a marvellous time in this wonderful cottage. Charlie was a superb host, very kind, very helpful, very thoughtful and very generous. Our puppy very much enjoyed the lovely walk recommended by Charlie and we spent a few relaxing days enjoying luxurious living in the lovely lounge/diner watching some of the DVDs on offer and enjoying a very refreshing sleep in extremely comfortable beds. We had a really super time and definitely recommend Chart Cottage to anyone who wishes to stay in this lovely cottage in the heart of the Garden of England. Thanks Charlie xx

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this exquisite cottage. There were many unexpected extra little touches (from personalised messages around the property, to dressing gowns provided for all guests) and the attention to detail was second to none in ensuring our stay was perfect and memorable. We would absolutely recommend this property.

  • The pictures do not do it justice! Such a fantastic space with a plethora of personal touches that really make it special. The best air bnb I have stayed at and can not recommend highly enough.

  • Great stay at Chart Cottage! Charlie and Chris were wonderfully warm hosts with great recommendations on things to see and places to eat. The cottage was immaculate, beautifully appointed and has all the amenities and more! This is the standard for what an Airbnb should be! It was a fantastic place to begin our holiday in England. We would definitely recommend it.

  • First things first, Charlie is absolutely amazing! She helped me with my booking that was for my sisters honeymoon mini break. She was very responsive and helped make my sisters wedding night special. The house is STUNNING and has everything you could possibly need. My sister now wants to move in! Charlie knew my niece(2) was joining them and there was everything she could possibly need- Travel cot, books etc Do not hesitate to book a stay here with Charlie and you will not regret it!

  • My oh my. What a gorgeous place to stay! The communication with the host Charlie was brilliant, the cottage is stunning and has everything you'll need. Recommend!

This newly renovated barn is nestled within the grounds of the listed Evegate Manor.
Situated in the heart of the Kentish countryside it offers easy access to London via Ashford international station, is just 10 mins drive from the Channel Tunnel and 25 mins from Dover. Canterbury is just 20 min away and offers a great nightlife with bars and restaurants. The barn has one double bedroom but also has a double bed settee within the living area. This would not be particularly comfortable for adults but would be fine for children or one adult. Guests have the opportunity to be completely independent within this property but are also welcome to come and be part of the family within the main house. There is a fully working modern kitchen within the barn with a convection oven, microwave, dishwasher, and a large American fridge freezer, breakfast is not provided. Unfortunately there is no washing machine or tumble dryer. Guests are welcome to use the main house for these facilities for a small additional cost. We are a very friendly and accommodating family and are happy to make our guests part of the family. Any help or advice whilst you are here is no problem to us. The area we live in is very rural but is still within easy reach of towns and city's. London is just 37 mins away if you chose to use he high speed rail like from Ashford.

  • Larissa and David were so lovely. We arrived a bit late and they were really accommodating. They were kind enough to give us directions of the best ways to get places and gave us suggestions of some nice local villages like Tenterden to visit. The house was superb! I could have happily lived there myself. Lovely and clean and they even left us a little basket with some breakfast things and drinks and even gave us some eggs from their chickens for breakfast. They left us some leaflets for things to do around the area and the house was really clean. With my mum and I in the bed room and my brother on the sofa bed we had plenty of room. David and Larissa even let us bring my two guinea pigs to the house. It was a brilliant stay, would definitely be coming back!

  • My wife and I (and dog!) stayed here for a weekend - it was fantastic! The space is perfect, very cosy and also has all the mod-cons you need. Larissa and her husband are great hosts, provided bread/eggs/cereals and gave us tips on where to eat/drink. A great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of working life! Wouldn't hesitate to stay again--longer next time!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Evegate Manor Barn. It's absolutely beautiful inside and out. Lovely people, so welcoming. Hot tub was amazing. Micropub walking distance is fab. We took our dog with us. Everything needed for breakfast in the barn. It ticked all the boxes for a relaxing weekend away to de-stress.

  • Really nice! We had a great time staying here it was the perfect size for the two of us, really cosy and homely. Great pool and hot tub! Have the use of sky+ and WiFi which is a great benefit. The area is really nice too and you aren't far away from Canterbury and Ashford which is great! Would definitely recommend this place to others and definitely stay again!

Gastvrije ontvangst. Echt een aanrader!

  • wonderful stay whilst at a local wedding. a home from home with lots of essentials included which was wonderful. pool was a great extra and would highly reccomend to everybody

  • Amazing location. Plenty of space and the pool with hot tube just make it the most amazing value for money. Lovely open plan living/kitchen so always with the ones you travel with and a very nice kitchen enabling you to eat in at any meal. Having the chickens out the back for company was a very nice added bonus. A safari park very close that I recommend taking a day out to visit.

  • Our stay at Larissa's place was great! Such a cosy barn with nice local walks - we walked to the Royal Oak in Mersham where the new owner was really friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. There is a fun brewery which is less than a minute's walk from the barn. We bought our dog with us and Larissa was most accommodating for him! We enjoyed the hot tub too! Thanks Larissa!

Dziękujemy za doskonały pobyt! Cisza, wiejskie otoczenie i bardzo wygodny, duży i ładnie urządzony pokój z kuchnią i prywatną łazienką. Pełna niezależność. Wszystko zgodne z opisem. Bardzo miła gospodyni.
We really enjoyed our stay with Sue and Paul. They were very welcoming and made us feel at home. The room was very comfortable, clean and cosy. Sue provided everything we might need (and even more!). The house is located within walking distance from Deal city centre (a pleasant 15 minutes walk). Parking on the private driveway was very convenient. After a good night of sleep, we enjoyed the breakfast with home-made bread. We highly recommend staying with Sue and Paul!
Lovely room, pleasant owners, perfect stay. Whole house perfectly clean and odour free. Provided snacks in small full equipped kitchenette. Home made granola bar and even a small carafe of port. Thoughtful touches. Accommodation over and above expectations. Recommend without reservation.
