Location, location, location! Large, classy, timeless, comfortable, entire top floor with private entrance in our private house out of a 1890's novel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn one block from the East River. So easy to get to Manhattan by subway, ferry, cab or even foot, and all the best places in the "Burg" Wifi/cableTV/air/heat. (We stay in our separate floor below you never compromising your privacy!)
Perfect location on the Northside Williamsburg, Brooklyn Waterfront scene, my place is a wood beamed classic, with hard wood floors and restored original brick wall. It is the top floor of a 1894 restored house on a very nice semi residential street block. The nicely outfitted place, "the country in the sky" as I refer to it, has a beautiful totally functional "Peerless" antique prewar stove for cooking, generous amounts of pots, a wood burning fire place and a full size refrigerator in the kitchen. The feelings are cozy, warm, cabin like yet elegant. The kitchen and living room are in the same open area. There is a dining room table that seats 4, a beautiful brand new couch that folds down to become a very comfortable queen size bed that sleeps 2. Beyond the living area is the large master bedroom with a queen size bed that sleeps 2 with a large antique dresser and 2 riverside windows. Off the master bedroom is a large tiled classic bathroom with an antique skylight and large tub with shower, and a small bedroom with a twin size bed and riverside window that is nice as a separate rest area, a great place for a child to sleep, or an out of sight room to put your luggage and things. My location is beyond great and safe. 10 minutes maximum in a cab or car service over the Williamsburg Bridge and you are in Manhattan. It is a short walk (3 min) to the North 6th Street East River Ferry ( the scenic quick river route to Midtown Manhattan or lower Manhattan, please check schedules). Subways: L train ( gray line): First stop in Brooklyn, only one stop to Manhattan and a neat 10 minute walk from my place going by shops, restaurants and street vendors to the very frequent Northside L train subway stop at Bedford Ave and North 7 St, (Everything you want to pick up to take back to my place is on Bedford Ave or Kent Avenue which are the walking routes to the subway. (Among the small shops, restaurants and bars, there is now a "Whole Foods" supermarket and a Iphone store on Bedford!) The JM subway that goes over the Williamsburg Bridge with wonderful views of the river and NYC skyline to lower Manhattan (Chinatown etc), is a little further (13 min walk ) through the South Side. After a night out in the neighborhood, you will find this quiet, comfortable, timeless place to come home to that is the top floor of a restored Williamsburg house. All East River parks are a short walk away with their spectacular river and skyline views. During the warm months the weekend flea/food markets down Kent Avenue/North 8 on weekends are fun and back dropped by the river and Manhattan skyline. Grand Street River Park is only a block and a half away. I love going there in the mornings with a cup of tea and taking in the NYC view. The quaint restaurants and music clubs are amazing and abundant, the "Williamsburg Foodtown" Market has all the groceries you need and frankly the only reason I would leave the "Burg" would be to go to a museum, St. Patrick's, Grand Central's Oyster Bar or ice skating at Rockerfeller Center. Indoor Flea Market on North 7th right off Kent Ave, "Mast Brothers Chocolate" on North 3rd off Berry, "Beer Garden" restaurant lunch, dinner, brunch with live music on Friday nights on North 3rd and Berry, "Sea" restaurant (Thai) on North 6, "Sweet Water" (Bistro) restaurant on North 6, "Dumont Burger" for awesome burgers on Bedford between South 2-3, "Aurora" (Northern Italian) with great brunches, lunches and dinners is right around the corner as is "Coxley's" sport bar with 40 beers on tap and great chicken wings on Grand St. "Teddy's" rest and bar (American Bistro) on North 8, a landmark that serves brunch, lunch and dinner and also has music sometimes at night, and the "Knitting Factory" music performance space and bar is 6 blocks away on Metropolitan. The best NY steak house, "Peter Luger's" reservations only, is in the vicinity. The floor is divided in 4 areas: upon entering you are in the kitchen and living, dining room with a wall and door that separates this space from the large bedroom in the front, the large tiled bathroom and the smaller front bedroom. The living area can easily convert to a sleeping area for 2. The place is adorable and sleeps four comfortably. Much quieter than most places in the area. Heat, air conditioning, wifi, fine linens/towels and kitchen utensils are provided for my guest. Full laundry drop off service and dry cleaners is available a couple of blocks up the street at "Berry Cleaners" or 302 Bedford Ave. My personal assistant/butler and I will check with you on your arrival time, hand over keys and be close at hand for anything you need during your stay. I and my husband are on our private lower floor of the house.
The neighborhood feels like a small village. It is very safe and has such a mixture of different foods, cultures, and restaurants. The Manhattan skyline views along Kent Ave can get no better and the wonderful Pier off North 5 on a Sunday afternoon is full of families, tourist and the occasional fisherman. During the warmer months there are outdoor flea markets and food markets of North 8 on the East River side. Bedford Avenue (3 blocks away) on the North and South side is filled with non chain restaurants, bars and shops.
  • Amazing location and fantastic accommodations. We had everything we could possibly need for a long weekend, and truly felt that we had a home in the city. Views were incredible and the apartment is walking distance to everything one may need. Good kitchen for cooking light meals and plenty of space for relaxing in the evening before going out. Thorough details on the surrounding area provided by Maria, and Azul was a delight. Friendly, prompt, helpful and unobtrusive. We can't wait to return!

  • From the minute we arrived at 'The Country and the City' we felt at home in this amazing city. The apartment was cosy and sophisticated, welcoming and everything you could ask for, not to mention a view of Manhattan that will last in my memories forever. Maria and Azul made sure we survived 'the blizzard' and went out of their way to ensure we felt like a local in Williamsburg. I would happily recommend this apartment to anyone and will be returning as soon as I can. Such a wonderful experience and have met some lovely friends as well.

  • Lovely and conveniently located apartment. Enjoyed the fireplace and proximity to great places to eat. Would definitely return!

  • Maria's apartment is lovely, warm and charming! The bedding is super comfortable and the furnishings are great. The location is fantastic and I had a wonderful stay overall. I had a great experience with the hosts - Maria is very accommodating and responsive. Azul met us on arrival was so friendly and helpful - he even carried my very heavy bag upstairs without a skipping a beat. Super nice people! I would definitely love to stay at Maria's again on my next trip to Brooklyn!

    Liz2013-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Maria's apartment is wonderful and looks just like in the pictures. The subway is within walking distance (about 10min), also there are restaurants and a supermarket in the neighbourhood. Maria and Azul were both extremely friendly and reliable and both were always quick to answer any messages. Highly recommended!

    Marlene2015-09-28T00:00:00Z

Downtown, the best bit of Manhattan. One of, if not the, LARGEST space on Airbnb in NYC. Your Own PRIVATE Bathroom & PRIVATE Bedroom, a Terrace off the bedroom, near to subways/buses, restaurants, bars, real luxury right in the middle of things. Just read our 400+ 5-STAR REVIEWS and you will see why we are SUPER-HOSTS and why you will just love this place, like other guests, I promise. Si, hablo bien espanol, Français parlé assez bien.
Downtown Manhattan, .. just like you see it in the films. Only so much better in real life !! All the details are below so that will see all that you will experience on your trip to the Big Apple - there are lots of things you will love when you stay here, but PLEASE PLEASE (did I say please?) try to read all the way to the end of the description, including sleeping arrangements, information on the area, getting around and the frequently asked questions. I know it is a bit of a novel, but it is well worth it and, from experience, it makes sure you understand everything in detail and ensures you will have the best stay that you can. Anything at all that you are not sure about, if you are new to Airbnb for example, just ask and I will get back asap and clarify. • Very spacious loft apartment ( about 2000 sq feet, 188 sq m, at last measure - so very BIG for New York) in the center of arguably the coolest area of the city (please do not argue ), modern, minimalist furniture , very open, very clean, I take great pride in having a spotless living environment (that goes for the host too). A Massive space that gets flooded with light via a wall of windows. Just take a look at the pictures. High security. Walking distance to subways & museums. Friendly building and very safe neighborhood. • Your own PRIVATE bathroom - Large, spacious, with Jacuzzi Bath, Shower, Hairdryer, Kohler fixtures. Fresh towels etc. Fully-stocked. All the shampoo and things you will ever need. Just for you. • Your own PRIVATE bedroom - Queen Bed for 2, firm and soft pillows for every type of sleeper, linens, towels, Large Flat Screen TV, Netflix, Amazon TV etc, Wardrobe. Again only for you. • Large kitchen - Open concept with an area to eat and with everything you need to design a gourmet feast, top of the line GE appliances, Microwave, Toaster, Kettle , Dishwasher, stainless steel counter top etc. Make any food you want - if it is really good, give me some. Make coffee there in the morning - always available -- you have your very own little coffee bar. • Very large living area, Real Fireplace, WiFi, Surround sound HDTV with HDMI hook-up and Roku TV, Bose sound system with iPhone/iPod hook-up, the best choice in music (in my opinion, most not consulted). Sit.... Enjoy • Large dining area - seats lots, great views over the city and over the Williamsburg Bridge. Eat foods mentioned above (probably while seated, although one can never be sure). • Natural brick walls (as opposed to unnatural I suppose) and a lovely Merbeau wooden floor, both of which look good (but don't say much). • Floor to ceiling windows throughout - bathed in sun (when the sun is out, mainly, of course) • Outside secluded seating area and balcony - you access directly from your room - very secluded (sometimes I cannot find it) • Full air conditioning / heating in the room and in rest of loft - be hot, be cool (most likely one at a time) • Bosch Washer and Dryer - for you to use - we like to reserve that for guests who stay for 3 nights or longer - being kind to the world too, we try to use cold water as well where possible. • Keyed Private elevator entrance directly into Loft - of course you have your own key (or stairs if u have the energy - does not seem so popular, strangely) • Printer / Scanner available. Pens and paper too, if you are a traditionalist.(although we draw the line at camel hair brushes, I'm sure you understand). And there is a universal power adapter for you to use to charge your gadgets too. • The building is a very smart development, a recently renovated 7-story apartment block with original brick facade, great views of the city skyline. Quiet, lovely, village feel, with parks and pedestrian areas just outside, but close enough to get anywhere very easily. I think I am allowed to say it is authentic. • This is a very large and comfortable space that you will be free to enjoy as you wish (this is your vacation after all). You will have lots of privacy and as well as the city, you have Books, Music (great as mentioned above), Roku TV with lots of channels and an online DVR and more .... or just relax and chat. Up to you. We provide the following publications too New York Times New York Magazine so you can feel a bit like a New Yorker • Located in the heart of Downtown - food (some of the best in the city), drink, fun, shopping all very, very close. A very cool residential neighborhood just a short trip to all the action. Perfect location for exploring both sides of the river too, as very close to Brooklyn and Williamsburg. One of the most historic neighborhoods in the U.S. (perhaps the most). We are only a few minutes away from the walkway along the East River, it has a great view of the Brooklyn bridge and Manhattan Bridge. Nearly opposite the Tenement Museum (which is really great). TV, Film and general interest media all the time (become a star - or an extra anyway) ,music clubs and comedy left right and center and Alphabet City, Ludlow Street , East Village, Chinatown and Soho all in spitting distance - and I can not spit far. Direct Access to cabs just outside building. • Food shopping wise, it is 3 blocks from a Whole Foods and a couple of blocks from the Essex Street Market. Great food shopping if you want. I hope everything is covered - email if you need more information. I hope to see you soon and I hope I can be part of your visit to this unique place.
Best neighborhood in Manhattan for independent coffee shops, cozy wine bars, up-and-coming restaurants (the area has 4 out of the top 10 best places to eat in this years NY magazine list) , intimate music venues, and interesting owner-operated shops. Like no other area in the city. A very peaceful cool neighborhood, yet just a short trip to all the action. Check out the "Guidebook" with my listing -- I send a much longer one that I have written directly to guests that do decide to stay before they get here - and they love it, mention it often in their reviews and keep asking for extra copies!!
  • Me and my husband spent 6 nights in Carol and Marc's apartment. This is my first Airbnb trial and indeed the apartment is just as stunning as what you could see in the photos. It's well equipped with all household appliances and books!! The apartment is close to Chinatown and just within a foot of many metro lines and buses. We could be almost everywhere directly (no interchange) within 15 min. I really did not expect that convenience! Other than the homy and cozy apartment, we really enjoyed those discussion with these guys(My curiosity still there: how and why Marc know that much about the world and about China. A Walking dictionary) . You should definitely talk to them if you are lucky enough to grasp any stay with them via Airbnb. I just felt at home and love this place.

  • Marc and Carol are wonderful people. I stayed at their lovely and cozy loft for three nights. It was great to meet Marc and Carol who literally treated me as a friend. They helped me a lot during my stay there. The bedroom is spacious, and the location is the best on AirBnB. You will have your own flat TV and a large private bathroom. Marc and Carol will also welcome you to use the living room and kitchen. Everything in this loft is fantastic. I will definitely go back just to visit my dear friends Marc and Carol.

  • Carol and Marc are the most welcoming, helpful and kind airbnb hosts ! Whenever we had a problem or when we were in need of some extra information about the neighbourhood, they gave us the best advice. On the last day, we had a problem with our credit card and Marc tried to solve it for us and he even offered to call to Belgium with his phone. Also, Marc kept us entertained during breakfast with his random little chats and of course we can't forget mentioning that he is very handsome and intelligent. :) I really recommend this place because of the good location (close to the subway), the nice hosts and the perfect room with private bathroom and terras. It is farmost the best airbnb I've ever stayed at. I'll definitely book this place again when I go back to New York.

  • What can I say here that hasn't already been said many times before. From the moment we made the booking Carol (& Marc) were brilliant, great communication and fabulous advice for both local and NYC wide places to eat & see. Great information on arriving from JFK, made our journey very easy. When we arrived at the apartment, it is everything you expect from the photos shown on AirBnB, very clean, tidy, well presented, details as described (own bathroom, bedroom & pretty much your own lounge). The location couldn't have been better 2 minute walk to the F line and easy access to NYC. Both Marc & Carol welcomed us into their home and were chatty, friendly and helpful, more than we could have wished for. Great advice for local places to eat and enjoy the atmosphere rather than going to the "chain" type cafes & restaurants. I will have no hesitation in booking again with Carol & Marc when returning to NYC - just wish they could have made the city a little warmer for our stay!!!

  • Struggling with what to say and how to put into words what fantastic hosts Carol and Marc are and how much we enjoyed our stay. Our stay with them was the perfect choice for our honeymoon trip! They genuinely are both so warm and welcoming and made us feel so at home in their stunning home. I genuinely don't think there is anywhere better to stay in New York in terms of location and accommodation. Location- A stones throw away from, and with easy access to, all the tourist-y places that need to be seen, as well as staying in a part of "real" New York which we really enjoyed being in and truly believe was the ideal area to stay in. Accommodation- A beautiful, modern apartment with everything and more you could need, with the luxury of the perfect hosts! They had so much time for us and were great in helping us with advice to plan our adventures for 4 days in the city. Being able to talk to natives with so much knowledge of the city is a big help in making the most of your time and was invaluable to us. We honestly never expected to feel so comfortable and at ease in someone else's home but Carol and Marc do their utmost to make you feel that way with great success. Carol and Marc we have already sung your praises to friends and family and made strong recommendations that they arrange to stay with you should they plan a trip to New York... And we would love to come back one day if you would have us! Wishing you both well Steph and Ian x

  • How can we describe our New York experience? Fantastic... mainly thanks to Marc and Carol!! They provided the perfect setting for us to make a home for ourselves for our week spent in The Big Apple. From the moment we stepped in the door, with Marc offering us a much welcome cold drink of water, we felt like we were at home. This is what every AirBnB listing should strive to be! The location is fantastic, with so many options for eating and drinking within a three-block radius and easy access to the subway for transport all over the city. The room and bathroom (your own bathroom!) are so spacious, as is the entire apartment with Marc and Carol so willing to share their space. There was many a night where our conversations went on for hours with Marc and Carol... discussing everything from American politics to how Australians celebrate Christmas! If you have come across this listing then you need look no further - this is the place you need to stay when you visit New York!! Every box was ticked, twice over. Thank you so much Marc and Carol for making our stay in New York such an enriched experience :)

    Alicia2014-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • I just finished a 3-day stay at Carol and Marc's Lower East Side condo. I hesitate to write this because there will never be an opening to stay there again(!) but their place - the location, quality of accommodation - everything - were awesome. Carol and Marc invited me to make use of anything in the apartment and to totally make myself at home. I would definitely stay there again, without hesitation.

    Todd2014-01-09T00:00:00Z

Cozy, warm atmosphere, perfect for the traveler looking for a real NY experience. This reservation is for one person. If you want to book for 2 guests it is an extra $100 per night. Best neighborhood in midtown Manhattan for the best price. In the hub of Hell's Kitchen nightlife, restaurants, theaters, museums.
Bedroom is small, but very comforting. Kitchen is HUGE with tons of sunlight and every spice you can imagine for all you chefs. Very easy going apartment- smoking is perfectly fine. Part of the apartment is an art workshop. Bathroom is large with skylight. Apartment is in back of the building, so the apartment is very quiet. An oasis in midtown. This reservation is for one guest.
Hell's kitchen is THE center of the entire city. Some of the best and affordable restaurants in the city, with any type of cuisine you could want. The apartment is walk able to virtually any subway line in the city. The neighborhood is in the center of the arts, with Times Square, Broadway theaters, and Central Park a stone's throw away. A vibrant nightlife and artist community with a neighborhood feel. Anything you're looking for is here!
  • Jeffrey is a spectacular host! He helped with navigating the subway to the Met, makes wonderful coffee and breakfast, and really, I couldn't have asked for a better Manhattan experience. Make sure to pick up one of his lovely hand dyed scarves while you're there!

    Hannah2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Where does a girl even begin? My stay with Jeffrey not only enhanced my time in the city it made it memorable. His company and the comfort of his place was splendid. I plan to return because of the great quality. The place is a gem and so is Jeffrey. Absolutely wonderful!

    Richard2017-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Jeffrey is a lovely, kind, interesting, generous man with a heart of gold and he will do anything for you. Unfortunately his quirky place wasn't suitable for my needs. There are five flights and no lift which is difficult with a heavy bag although Jeffrey kindly and easily lifted the bag for me on arrival. Jeffrey is probably a very trusting and open man and probably lives in a safe complex but as a paranoid/nervous female solo traveller I would have preferred the front door to be locked when he wasn't in and I was still in bed and also for a lock on the bedroom door for my reassurance.

    Louisa2018-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Jeffrey is very helpful and kind. He helps out with the plan I had suggesting places to go and all. Only not recommended if you are a non- smoker who doesn't like smoking in the house.

  • Excellent host, very friendly and nice

    Eduardo2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really superb. Jeffrey is a great host, and made breakfast every day. Truly I bonded with him, as well as doing my own thing and coming and going as I wished. The bed is comfortable and the room amazingly quiet given what a busy and central neighbourhood the apartment is in. Highly highly recommended...

    Andrew2016-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • I just had the most wonderful stay with Jeffrey at his gorgeous apartment in midtown NY. Jeffrey is one of the sweetest people I have meet. He made me feel home right from the first min I arrived. His place is so close to all the cool stuff in New York and the feeling and vibe of his home is very comforting and comfortable. I did not want to leave. Thank you Jeffrey you made my time in New York very special and I will be back to stay again next year. I have to say the Jeffreys prices are amazing compared to the rest of the rooms in NY. I highly recommend his place to anyone.

This is a comfortable studio apartment with exposed brick that has a true city feeling. This studio has a newly renovate bathroom and kitchen with stain steel appliances. The space fits four and is centrally located on a Historic quiet street. This unit is loaded with cable and wifi. Just blocks away from public transportation A and G train lines. And minutes away from the bus route B25 B26 and the B44. Come and explore the charm of Bed-Stuy and all the Historic's. I love this neighborhood. !
This historic section of Brooklyn is home to some of the most magnificent brownstones streets in the world, with charming architectural landmarks. There so many new restaurants and bars popping up in the area such as Peaches,Hot house,Royals, Saraghina, and Gallery.
  • Amazing Airbnb. Looks exactly like the photos, the bed is so comfortable (slept like a baby) and great location. A lovely neighbourhood with friendly people and a nice coffee shop and bagel shop close by. 10 minute walk to subway stations which gets you to Manhattan in 30 minutes. Michelle was a great host and checking in and out was easy. Could not recommend enough!

    Victoria2018-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • I am a fairly frequent AirBnB traveler. Michelle’s home was top notch and all communication with her was 100%. My wife and I felt like locals in this space. It was about a 10 minute walk to the train that took us into Manhattan. Take the express and it’s pretty fast. The neighborhood is totally residential. Easy parking on street. Another reviewer mentioned some noise from neighbors. We did not have any issues at all. I would definitely stay again.

    David2018-03-04T00:00:00Z

    Marc2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place to stay like a real New Yorker. Host was super helpful and accommodating, was willing to go above and beyond and definitely made the effort. Deli on every corner, juice spots, coffee, and late night bites around the area. Trains to downtown manhattan are accessible. Tv, wifi, couch, kitchen, and bathroom. Perfect space for a couple or someone traveling on their own.

I had good days staying at Biren's place. The room was in the same condition as the picture and the bathroom was very very clean. A bottle of water and basic amenity were provided which I found helpful. I bumped into Biren only once on the last day of my stay. He was very friendly and trying to help me with whatever I needed.
