  • Lance was the best! We felt totally welcome in this treehouse space, which is just as amazing as described. Its a tough space to get to via any mode other than driving, but it's very much worth the hassle. The views are spectacular and Lance's cat Bukowski makes for an excellent view-watching companion. 5 stars!

  • Everything was perfect and exactly like the description. Fresh margaritas upon arrival, astounding views, good company and a friendly kitty made this stay fantastic. Will be back! Thanks Lance!

  • What a fantastic place! The view is amazing. And it's super comfortable. Our bedroom overlooked the city to the east. We saw the sun begin to. rise over the mountains at 4:30. We had left the shades up because we had to get up at 5 am anyway. Lance was accommodating and welcoming. We arrived a little earlier than expected, but he was very flexible, and it all worked out well. We enjoyed talking with him and he fixed coffee to help us get going in the morning. A great host!

  • My first visit to Portland was made unforgettable with a two-night stay at Lance's Saul Zaik Treehouse. Waking up to that amazing view is a humbling beauty everyone must experience. It's true, you WILL have withdraws. Lance is a wonderful host and efficient with communication. He was flexible when I inquired an earlier check-in and texted me his address for further confirmation. The drive to the treehouse is smooth with beautiful views! There is easy parking located across the street from the treehouse. Lance greeted us at the door and kindly helped us with our bags down to our room. The guest room and downstairs loft area is simply perfect with the right amount of privacy. He politely let us get settled and later suggested some good restaurants when we were ready to go out. Lance was genuine to make us feel at home. He made french press in the morning and texted when it was ready. I truly felt at home with my first airbnb thanks to Lance. I would definitely stay again.

  • Space is clean and beautiful, views are unmatched, very unique, easy to get into downtown Portland. Amazing location and home!

    Jonathan2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect location above the clouds with spectacular views over Portland. Very tranquil and relaxed atmosphere. Lance is a great host and very welcoming, as is his cat Bukowski! Recommend hiring a car if you plan to see the sights of Portland although a taxi to downtown only costs c$10.

    Luke2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Lance was great! The treehouse is an amazing space to see and the view from our room was beautiful. Lance was helpful and super flexible with checking in and out. We'd definitely recommend Lance's space for any Portland visitors looking for a unique place!

Unique hand built cob cottage next to lg. pond w water feature. Lg. fenced and gated yard. Gentle, curving space-made from sand, straw, water and earth . Featured in multiple international publications. The floor is also earthen clay with added radiant heat. Beautiful natural light. It's truly a magical place.
It's a curvilinear earthen structure hand sculpted from water, sand, straw, and clay earth. It features a radial roof with a central pagoda-like skylight. When building the Cob, we used reclaimed and natural materials when ever possible. The insulation in the ceiling is made from pulverized reclaimed blue jeans and the floor is made from the same earthen clay. It has a Dutch door, so you can open the top part for additional ventilation. It also has air conditioning available in the warmer months and a radiant heat floor. The bed is a very comfortable double with a memory foam mattress topper. The bathroom for the cottage is in the main house, about 40 steps to the back door. Inside you’ll find a large sitting room and full kitchen as well as your bath with claw foot tub and shower. These spaces are shared with 2 Airbnb rooms in the house. If you find the bath busy, our full bath is available upstairs on the second floor.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store.
  • Loved the cob cottage, homey feel, absolutely perfect for a quick Portland getaway. 10/10, helpful and friendly and wonderful hosts. Jack gave excellent tips for where to go in the area for food/drinks/coffee, very generous with their ammeneties. Much love ❤

  • Quiet, clean, good neighborhood, cute friendly cats. Nice clean shower/bathroom. Great communication! Highly Recommend.

    Irvin2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We slept well in the Cottage. It was in a neighborhood we know and enjoy in Portland. We were able to walk to a great breakfast place near by after helping ourselves to tea at the host house.

    Dana2016-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great spot to rest and relax while exploring Portland for a weekend. Jack and Cris’s cottage is charming and exactly as described. We loved the local coffee they provided in the sitting area.

    Meagan2017-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at this cozy, artistic spot. The cob cottage was warm and comfortable, the bathroom and sitting area were comfortable and well appointed. You can feel the creativity here. It was also very quiet and serene. A definite go to for a relaxing stay in Portland.

    Mary2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cris and Jack's place was magical and a true gem found tucked away in Portland. Although once you step through the gates you feel you have been transported to a fairy tale land, it is right around the corner from bustling SE Division and Clinton. Perfect location for exploring and so lovely to stay in such a creative space that is clearly cared for and was carefully designed by Cris and Jack. Highly recommend!

    Ashley2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful and magical little cottage! And so close to so many fun things.

    Walker2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • For someone who had never before been to Portland, I think this is a great representation of an earthy, hipster vibe. The heated floors of the cottage are such a great touch, and I'd be lying if I said we didn't choose this place in part because of all the cats hanging around--but don't worry, if you don't want to pet them they don't follow you, from our experience we came to them and they allowed us to pet them, they didn't really ask for it. The location is great, easily accessible by the bus system in Portland, and if you decide for a meal inside please order from Thai Me Up-- SO DELICIOUS and close by. The hosts also run a local coffee shop in two locations in town, so definitely ask about that. The flowers everywhere also add to a beautiful, cozy neighborhood. Note on height: My husband is 6ft tall, and I think if you are much taller than that, the bed in the cottage may be a little short for you-- though you can always kick the sheets over the long stool at the end of the bed to add another half a foot or so. If you are above 5'7"-5'8" you will have to duck under the shower head to get your hair wet, but the water pressure and temp are lovely. I am 5'4" and had zero problems with these.

    Portland, Oregon, Stany Zjednoczone

This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. For your comfort, this as a "pet dander free" space. No pets, thanks. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!
  • This was our first trip to Portland and Andrée's home was true to the description--a perfectly cozy cabin to relax and to check out the sights and sounds of the city. She was an extremely welcoming and gracious host who gave us insider local info on restaurants and neighborhoods. We would definitely stay there again on our next visit.

    Melissa2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Andree was a fantastic host! She was very accommodating and had great suggestions for visiting the neighborhood. Her cozy cottage was a breath of fresh air and relaxation after a busy work week. I highly recommend staying here!

    Karl2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Andree, you were an awesome host. Thank you for your hospitality, we really enjoyed our stay. The garden studio was perfect for our weekend away, couldn't have been better. We'd recommend it to anyone.

    Christian and Ashley2014-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved getting to stay in a neighborhood that had so many great places to walk to. We did explore the whole city during our stay, but enjoyed getting to come back and take a short walk over to a great collection of bars and restaurants. Andrée is incredibly knowledgable of the area and served as not only a warm, welcoming host but also a well informed concierge. We ended up stopping by two places she recommended and had a great experience at both. The studio is adorable and filled with great trinkets that set it aside from staying at a hotel. We felt we got a more authentic visit to the city by staying here. You do have to use the restroom inside as mentioned in the listing, but the facilities are great. The backyard also comes with probably the friendliest cat I've ever met. Overall, it was a great trip and staying at this property made it a one of a kind experience.

    Dani2014-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée was a wonderful host and her cozy studio was the perfect place to stay for my two night trip to Portland. The space was clean and well-kept with comfortable sheets and all of the kitchen amenities that I needed (mini fridge, stovetop range, etc). Also, Andrée's warm and welcoming personality will make you truly feel like you are home away from home.

    Mandy2014-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Simple, small, comfortable! Andrée is both an amazing person and host. She was extremely fixable with our short notice trip, and accommodated my self and company with a lot of attention and great conversation about the true local feel of Portland. Not to mention her great recommendations. The space it's self offers a futon and an upstairs bed. Getting up the latter could be a little hard after a long hike, so having both options was perfect. The space it's self is tucked away so you have your own space. The restroom is in her house, so it is a walk for the bathroom. But not an issue nonetheless so long that you watch your step. There's chairs outside, and a mesh screen at the door that helps you enjoy the weather both inside and outside. And plenty of air conditioning was a huge plus!

    John2016-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Andree is so welcoming, intelligent and interesting. The carriage house allows for a really independent stay, comings and goings that dont disturb. With the abundant plum tree in the yard and the ability to cook ones own food its really the best possible place to stay. I found transportation very easy and spent many hrs just strolling through the neighborhood. I could not recommend it more and if I return to portland this will be my first choice.

    Katy2013-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Andree was extremely friendly and kind and greeted us on the night we got in. She gave us some great recommendations for restaurants which we ended up taking and loved. We really loved staying in her cozy little cabin and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Portland! If you aren't planning to rent a car though, she does live a little outside the downtown area so getting around could be a little tougher. We rented a car which made our experience staying in her neighborhood much better!

With lots of space and light, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, a queen bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv including HBO, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a queen bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.
  • Really appreciated staying in this lovely old home! We really enjoyed the fireplace, comfy bed, walkable neighborhood, and the proximity to Saint Simon coffee.

    Kevin2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great space!

    Ryan2018-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Loved (Email hidden by Airbnb) munication was easy, and if we had questions we got a response almost immediately. Would definitely stay here again!

  • This was such a great place to stay! Jason has created a lovely space and was welcoming, kind and helpful. Exploring this charming neighborhood was an added bonus to the trip. I highly recommend staying here.

    Suzanne2014-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time When I arrived the first thing I noticed was how clean the studio was. I had a couple guests come visit and Jason was really nice about it. I met him and he was very generous. I definitely would recommend staying here.

    Nik2016-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • We only rented this apartment for an afternoon for a photoshoot, but Jason was extremely accommodating, letting us come in early and showing us around the apartment personally before we got started. While I can't comment on the bed, etc, I can say that the neighborhood is a good one, the apartment is small but perfectly functional (it's a studio, after all), and the host was a pleasure to deal with.

    Kenn2015-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Immediate response to a last minute request for booking was wonderfully appreciated. Jason showed up with a carafe of fresh brewed coffee that he spoke of with words associated with a sommelier. This unit was serendipitously most excellent for charging our electric car (110v) as well as the load in and load out. Parked directly next to the door shown in the photo. There was a big stack of wood for the fireplace which we kept burning all night. It was a warm Northwest experience with the rain outside. The building itself ranks high in turn of the century charm, with the hardwood floors, high ceilings, and built-ins. Multi thread count beddings and comfortable pillows. I suggest a led light bar parallel to the bathroom mirror and some small custom shelves, as there were none in the bathroom. The top of the fireplace hearth was a good second. Also would like a microwave. It is a charming place and we would return without hesitation. Thank you Jason!

    Ben2016-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Nice residential neighborhood to stay in, with close public transportation to get anywhere in Portland! We enjoyed staying in this clean apartment, making fires at night, and exploring all of Portland's neighborhoods by day!

You will see how homes in Laurelhurst are each very different and unique from craftsmen with large porches to smaller bungalows with beautiful gardens.
  • Sue and Bob live in a lovely residential area very close to bus and light rail stops. They provide a wealth of information about shopping, restaurants and pubs, local sites and things to do in Portland. Bob and Sue care that their guests are comfortable and they try hard to make them feel welcome. The rooms are super clean and well-furnished. The only drawback we found was the basement location.

    Donald2017-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Right from the start Bob, Sue and Snowball were so incredibly warm and welcoming. We honestly couldn't as for better hosts. What a great place to stay! Very clean and cozy with all your basic needs and amenities. They were sure to give us the low down on the gorgeous surrounding neighborhood, as well as tips on great hiking trails and yummy restaurants to dine at. There is tons of stuff to do nearby! Portland is a magical place made even more special by the care and comfort provided by these hosts. We will ABSOLUTELY be back! Thank you again!

    Ryan2016-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Bob and Sue's clean and cozy cottage was a home away from home! Upon my arrival I was delighted to note the beautifully lush neighborhood. During my stay I was able to walk to the nearby Laurelhurst Park-- a perfect place to enjoy a pie picnic or a good book from Powell's near the lake. Located next to several local businesses such as The Pie Spot and Blue Star Donuts and just a short ride away from Downtown, Bob and Sue's cottage was the perfect choice for a little Portland getaway (:

    Mela2016-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob have an immaculate and beautifully decorated little space in their historic home conveniently located in the gorgeous and leafy Irvington neighborhood in NE Portland. Their garden is a little piece of heaven and it was a delight to sit amongst the flowers sipping tea and munching on pastries whilst enjoying the Portland summer weather. We took advantage of the fantastic location of their cottage by walking a few short blocks through the neighborhood to the 26 acres of beauty that is Laurelhurst park, voted the "most beautiful park" on the west coast by the Pacific Coast Parks Association. Sue and Bob were very thoughtful, accommodating and friendly hosts and it was a pleasure to stay with them in their lovely home.

    Devon2012-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • If you find yourself in Portland & looking for a nice, quaint neighborhood I would definitely recommend staying at Bob & Sue’s place. Their beautiful home is located to many amazing restaurants and hip neighborhoods at just a walks distance. The cottage had everything to make your stay comfortable. Bob & Sue are so kind and thoughtful and will make sure your needs are met. The space was perfect for our stay! Looking forward to when we can visit again!

  • Sue and Bob's cottage apartment is a super cute, very functional space for a weekend stay. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Bob greeted us upon arrival and showed us the space which made us feel very welcomed. We are surprised with a sweet note and cupcakes to congratulate us on our recent marriage. A sweet touch that made us feel special and welcomed. Kitchen was well stocked and functional. Decorated to the hilt that made you feel like you were in a different country. Super Cute!!! Best part was that the bed, pillows and comforter felt like a five star hotel. We slept like babies. Would recommend their cottage with enthusiasm.

    Jen2016-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sue was very friendly and welcoming when we arrived to her home; she even gave us a tour with historical information about the house. The apartment is a converted basement with plenty of space for 2 adults (although if you are taller than 6'3" or so you'll have to duck to walk around the bedroom). Wonderful amenities! It was great to have a washer/dryer to ourselves after hiking trips. Loved the decor and scenery outside. The home is in a very safe neighborhood, as well. Sue and Bob are wonderful hosts and if their apartment is available you should definitely pay them a visit. Thank you for being a wonderful host, Sue!

Everything you need is here at our brand new guesthouse loft: a luxurious, lofted queen bedroom; high ceilings with floods of natural light, a modern kitchen, full bath with heated tile, comfy sleeper sofa for extra guests, and Stumptown Coffee with organic cream. The loft rests at the back of the property, one block from bustling Division St, and short blocks from restaurants, coffeeshops, & the Woodsman Tavern, named “One of America’s Best Bars,” by Esquire Magazine.
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Mi Mero Mole, The Woodsman), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.
  • Great place ... clean, comfortable, well equipped and in a great location. All quite simple but very very appealing. Thanks Laurek and Brian!!!

    richard2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel and Brian’s place was perfect for our weekend trip. It was just enough space for three people and was located in a nice and quiet neighborhood. Great places to eat and shop were within walking distance and everything else was only a short drive away. I would definitely stay here again.

    Mary2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Love staying at Laurel and Brian’s guest house. The lofted setup was really nice and an efficient use of space. Laurel and Brian were really gracious hosts. Super responsive and accommodating to every request. Can’t recommend this place any higher.

    Daniel2018-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a girl's getaway for a few days. The guesthouse is bright and beautiful with tons of natural light in a residental part of Portland. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance though - we recommend Xico (for dinner) and Woodsman Tavern (for brunch). Thanks for hosting us!

    Stevie2017-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Loved Brian and Laurel's place! Convenient to all of Portland with plenty of great things within walking distance.

    Ashley2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • As others have stated this space is lovely. Brand new, clean and spacious. Felt safe in the neighborhood, parking was easy enough to find. Was enjoyable to have some music in the living space, a very comfortable bed and ability to to a load of wash on my journey. Very enjoyable and would stay here again

    Melissa2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible space. Lots of natural light, loved the layout, lots of privacy and well-thought out amenities. Loved the natural wood and color scheme. Super comfy bed! Laurel and Brian were very prompt, friendly and accessible. The neighborhood was great with lots of walkable food options. (Huge thumbs up for the Woodsman Tavern and Petite Provence). Highly recommend this space and will likely be back for my next business trip.

  • This air bnb was great! Laurel and brain checked a few times to make sure we didn't need anything! They were wonderful hosts and the house was beautiful and in a wonderful location!

Where Bali meets Portland. Come relax in this newly, beautifully designed, private mixed use accommodation. Just five short blocks from Portland's hip N Williams district. A rooftop deck.
I have a total of five rooms, each listed separately in this unique mixed-use building where I also live and work. You will enter just past the Ned Ludd front patio via a private, secure, gated entrance off of MLK at NE Failing street and follow the stairway up to the second level. This is the larger of the three rooms. Each room is newly refurbished and furnished with beautiful, responsibly sourced tropical salvage out of Indonesia and locally re-purposed wood/trim doors and windows. Your private room comes with a window, a wall-mounted flatscreen t.v., small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, free wi-fi an armoire, an ornate sink carved out of stone, down pillows, down comforters, a king-sized posturepedic mattress and zen colored walls that might just make you think you are in... Bali?
NEPO (aka NE Portland) is hip and cool and like so many hip Portland neighborhoods–it is ever-expanding and reinventing itself. New restaurants, shops, boutiques and businesses are popping up all over. Whether you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night while you get out and explore during the day, or you are just looking for a place you can hole up and relax, we've got you covered. The options and amenities you will find here in your little oasis in NEPO are plentiful.
  • We really enjoyed our time here. Very comfortable room in a great neighborhood!!

    Daniela2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • It's a nice place. Tim keeps it very clean and our bed was super comfy. Get the king suite size if you can as it is right across from the WC and showers. You probably should rent a car because its a few minutes from downtown proper and points north and west. The whole place reminded me of pensiones I have stayed in in Europe.

    Denise2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute and comfortable stay!! We were able to take a 20 minute walk to Alberta St. and also find parking in the lot for our car. Very clean and the bed was so comfortable.

    Andrea2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Timothy's place was perfect for our trip! We were in town for business and spending very little time at the AirBnb, so the "hotel style" was exactly what we needed and more. It was very clean and quiet with a very comfortable King size bed. Timothy accommodated our late check-in and gave us a place to leave our bags while we were in town. It was only a 10 minute drive to the downtown core and there were nice restaurants downstairs. I would highly recommend this AirBnB.

    Molly2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • We will stay here again. Perfect location, easy access, and amazing accommodations! It's very private and comfortable. Easy walking to coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails. I haven't been to Bali, but if it's anything like this flat, I'm going :)

    Tiffany2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very convenient check-in and check-out process and a nice space! The only downside was that you can hear the roadway from the bed at night, which would be problematic if you are a light sleeper. Otherwise, a great location. The room was above Nedd Ludd, where we had an amazing dinner and near a coffee shop and a short walk to the arts district. Thanks Tim!

    Mech2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The room was very clean and beautiful as shown in the pictures. Just heads up though, this place is more like a hostel with a shower and a bathroom to share amongst 4-5 other rooms in the building. The room was very clean and spacious, but the shower did not smell pleasant (although seemed clean). The living room space in the picture seem to be the host's personal space, so we didn't have access. We ran into Timothy once during our stay, and he was very nice. But we received all of our instructions via email and that was easy for our very late check-in. The location is about 10-15 min drive from downtown. Ned Ludd is a great restaurant right next door and Bushels & Peck is a cozy cafe to visit next door as well. Not much else around the neighborhood. Very convenient for people with a car (free parking).

    Lauren2016-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Timothy was great. He met us when we arrived, was flexible with our arrival time and departure, and he gave us a quick tour of the place too! The room was big and the bed was comfortable. Clean and nice place.

(In case your dates aren't available try: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/9958918) Overlook is close to everything. Just a block to parks and the Max train. A short walk to Mississippi and Williams neighborhoods. 2.5 miles to the Pearl & downtown.
The space is a comfortable private bedroom with a closet and dresser. You also have a private bath/shower. The bedroom has cable TV, coffee maker, coffee, snacks, and drinks for you in the mini fridge. Gay + LGBTQ friendly.
Overlook is an incredible neighborhood close to everything. Overlook park is only a block away, and the Bluff park is a few minutes walk and offers amazing views of the city and the river. You can't beat it.
  • It was very convenient location and Scott was a very gracious host! Just the right amount of privacy and helpfulness. Give my love to Gus (his puppy).

    Harsha2016-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot on a quiet street. Easy parking and access to the house. Scott is prompt in response clear in communication and thoughtful. The house is also close to Blue Star donuts which is a big plus for me.

    Jason2016-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in North Portland on a quiet street. Scott was very responsive online to questions in advance. During our stay he was a delight to meet and share information about the area. A beautiful place to enjoy the city!

    Anita2018-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Scott is a very responsive host and Overlook park is a lovely part of the city that is close to transit and has great parking. The space is well appointed if you are traveling single or as a couple. Scott has a lovely home.

    James2017-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • The area was quiet, safe, and absolutely beautiful. His home looks exactly like the images. Also, walking distance to Mississippi Street and the MAX. The drive to Multnomah Falls was only about 40 mins--not bad at all! Although Scott wasn't home when we were there, he gave us all the help and advice we needed. Overall, a comfortable experience! Definitely recommend.

    Nicole2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Scott's place is comfortable and cute. It's in a quiet neighborhood but very walkable to restaurants and shops (blue star donuts is .6 miles away!). A car isn't necessary as the train is nearby and if you are up for walking you can make it to Pearl district and downtown in 45 minutes.

    Kaitlan2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Scott's house is lovely and is a great, quiet neighborhood. It was easy and convenient to get to and from, parking was ample, and the house was comfortable to stay in. We enjoyed our time at Scott's!

    Sean2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first experience with AirBnB & I must say, it was amazing! Scott was extremely helpful & very informative. The room & bathroom were spotless. He even left coffee, water, chocolate & (delicious) scones for us. I would definitely recommend Scott's place to all of my friends who plan on traveling to Portland!

This listing is a private bedroom in a shared apartment with 3 other individuals. We are considerate, quiet, & conscious of our guests space & privacy. In the heart of Portland's NW 23rd District, our place is nestled close to some of Portland's finest shops & cafes: Salt & Straw, Barista, and Fireside to name a few. The apartment has become a "destination" in itself due to the amazing natural light & Scandinavian interior design - even garnering its own hashtag on Instagram (#theaptupstairs).
"The Apartment Upstairs" is perfect for couples, urban adventurers, and creative travelers. Private bedroom outfitted with luxury Portuguese linen, plush Turkish cotton towels, waffle knit robes & slippers, & alpaca wool throws from our friends over at Parachute Home. All room decor and artwork is done by fellow Portland & Los Angeles creatives.
  • My boyfriend and I couldn't be more pleased with our stay at the apt upstairs! The location was impeccable, close to everything you need and saved a lot of time being able to walk to a central location. We would have wasted a lot of money and time on Uber's or public transit to get to that location. The apartment itself is designed beautifully. The only negative is that there was no air conditioning in 90 degree weather. The fan was fine once the sun went down but it was noticeably hot during the day.

    Julie2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • #TheAptUpstairs is a gorgeous light-filled space one block from shops, restaurants, coffee, and ice cream. Our room was small but comfortable- perfect for a weekend stay and not lacking anything we might have needed. Benjamin was very responsive, and even provided us with a list of his favorite to-dos in the neighborhood. We would definitely stay again!

    Lara2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great experience at the Apt Upstairs. Check-in was a breeze, the space and bathroom were immaculately clean and very uniquely designed/decorated. Room temp was fine too. Location was optimal and close to the Peal brewpubs. Thanks for hosting us and we would highly recommend.

    Anthony2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, cute place, and quiet with a comfortable bed.

    Karina2016-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment upstairs was fantastic. It is clean, well styled, and in an amazing location. Was super easy to get to shopping and great restaurants as well as trails for hiking or running. Even though the room was in a shared space, it felt very private. Ben, the host, is very accommodating and super responsive to needs. He definitely goes above and beyond. I would be more than willing to stay again. If you do stay, make sure you get his Portland top picks list! Thanks for everything, Ben!

    Brian2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, highly recommended!

    Giuliana2016-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Apartment Upstairs is exactly as posted. It not only ticks all the right boxes (great location - I preferred the neighbourhood than staying right in the middle of downtown, clean and spacious) but with the apartment being such an incredible space and Ben being so welcoming and friendly, it really has its own X-factor in the experience. I had what was possibly my best airbnb stay. I would highly recommend the Apartment Upstairs and will definitely be back next time I'm in Portland.

    Simon2017-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Benjamin's place is 10 out 10, location is just more than perfect, it just less than one minute walk to cafe/shop/restaurant strip. The room itself is cosy, comfy bed & linen, small touches like welcome note and bath robe etc are made us feel like home. The whole place is well immaculately designed and decorated. Benjamin is very friendly too, showing us around and also provide us a list if what to do/eat/see in Portland. Would highly recommend! x

Relaxed + modern one bedroom basement apt. Bright + spacious with a handmade Portland touch. Comfortable for two, it's a great home-base for the traveler wanting to explore PDX! Located in charming Woodlawn neighborhood. Near the park, bars and bus lines.
Handmade by us! We're a craftsman and an interior designer who are not afraid to get our hands dirty. Stay in this remodeled basement where every detail was thought, planned and carefully constructed. We value high-end, conscious design. Our motto is maintain, reclaim and sustain. All of the exposed wood was salvaged from this 100 year old home! We love our house and hope that you do too. It's a great, peaceful place to crash at the end of the day. A plush queen sized bed, a huge doorless walk-in bathroom (ie. divided by a wall), glass walk-in shower and a tiny but efficient kitchen were top priorities when we made this place. The kitchen has dishwasher/fridge/oven stocked with all the pots/pans and plates to make a nice meal at home. Its always a shifting art-installation, so don't be surprised if the art in the listing photos change. We like to collect art and objects during our travels.
We're one block from 2 major bus lines (the 8 goes to downtown) and our neighborhood market, P's & Q's. 3 blocks from Woodlawn park + 5 blocks to our neighborhood hub: breweries, dance hall, coffee shop and restaurants. Woodlawn is a great area and closely located to Alberta Arts District, Mississippi and Kenton.
  • We enjoyed our stay at Anna & Jeremy's place. It was very clean, well organized and tastefully decorated. Anna was very quick in responding to our questions. We are not used to not having a bathroom door but we knew about that going in. Apart from that, the place was perfect for staying for the weekend.

    Saroj2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Jeremy's place is a perfectly curated apartment in the basement of their awesome house. There was plenty of street parking, fun things to do in the neighborhood, and easy access to downtown and the airport. We will definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a place to stay in PDX!

    Meghan2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, modern, lovely place exactly as described and pictured. Easy to communicate with hosts before and during our stay. Close to restaurants and shops!

    Vy2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Anna was very nice and we didn't get to meet Jeremy. The neighborhood is kinda funky and fun to explore! The basement apartment was nice and roomy and our stay was short but sweet.

    Robyn2016-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of my favorite airbnb experiences ever! Portland was SO hot the weekend we stayed and since the apt is on the basement level, it stayed nice and cool in there--even without a/c. And it was so nice that there was so much natural light, even though it's a basement. The bed was super comfy, and the bathroom felt soo luxurious. Anna and Jeremy were super kind too. It was a really nice combination of hands-off hosts, but people who were also interested in saying hello and making sure we were okay. We loved it and would stay there again!

    Allison2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was great and in a wonderful location. There were restaurants close by and Anna and Jeremy left great directions for what to do around the city.

    Debbie2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • I very much enjoyed my stay here. This was the first time I used Airbnb and mainly corresponded with Anna. She was great in answering all my questions and made me feel at ease and welcomed. The space was great! A comfortable bed to relax in after spending the day out and about. Very convenient location. I would definitely recommend staying with Anna and Jeremy if visiting the Portland area!

    Bernadette2014-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Was exactly as advertised, right down to the very sweet neighbor cat who would come say hi. Very stylish and homey studio. Bright natural lighting was abundant. The bathroom was on point, and very nicely done. Everything was very clean and kept up. I didn't locate a thermostat, but the apartment was kept at a comfortable temperature during my stay.

A quiet, cozy bedroom & bathroom on the ground floor of a beautiful, modern new home in a verdant, friendly Southeast Portland neighborhood. Enthusiastic greeting by very friendly dogs & cat comes standard!
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE REQUESTING ACCOMMODATION. As a courtesy to our guests, our check-in time is 2:00 pm; however, as we both work weekdays, we cannot have the rooms ready until 5:30 or so. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up. (PLEASE NOTE: This listing highlights the primary guest bedroom available, but for parties of 3 or 4 people, we do have a secondary bedroom that also features a queen-sized bed. If you are making a reservation for two people and you wish to book both bedrooms, PLEASE EXPLICITLY TELL US SO, as the default for two guests is ONE bedroom; for a two-guest reservation, the cost will be the listed room rate + $30/night. All guests share the same bathroom.) There is almost an entire floor available in our newish home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedroom, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room (please note: the first-floor living room is NOT private, as it does not have a ceiling and is the way between the front door of the house and the stairs to the second floor). We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific sandwich shop that's open for breakfast, lunch AND dinner, a pizza joint, a Starbucks, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about two miles south of the trendy Hawthorne district, one mile south of nationally-recognized Division Street, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities. We have a very friendly housecat you will likely meet during your stay, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed for the comfort of allergen-sensitive guests. We also have two friendly dogs who will greet you eagerly upon your arrival, but who otherwise spend their time hanging out with us and don't wander much to the guest floor. Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.
  • Lovely spot, near many walkable destinations. Brad and Becca's place is a modern oasis in a charming Portland neighborhood.

    Erin2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • A cool stay at a tree house in the heart of portland. The house is located near the SE Division Street and Hawthorne Blvrd. Both good places for food and Drinks. In the house we had one floor for us. That includes the bedroom, a bathroom and a living room. Both hosts are really nice and answered all our questions.

    Felix2015-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Probably the most awesome hosts I've stayed with so far, and yet I only got to stay with them for 2 days. Brad and Becca were super friendly, easy to communicate with, and easy going. They are great hosts whether you want to socialize or have total privacy. They provided nearly all the essential amenities one would need. I was on a trip for an interview, so having an iron and board in my room for my personal use (along with umbrellas) was great. The house was super clean and tidy, as well as BEAUTIFUL! I take a big appreciation in visually pleasing atmospheres, so this added to my great stay. Biscuit and Carlos (kitty and puppy) were pleasant to be around whenever they were present! Thanks for a great stay.

    Jessica2014-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • I was visiting Becca & Brad only for one night and was totally tired, but their friendliness immediately made me feel better. Their home is super nice and cozy and I would definitely stay there again!

    Markus2014-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great location on the east side of Portland. Easy to find, modern yet homey, and both my sister and I enjoyed the very short amount of time we stayed at Brad and Becca's place. We'd definitely rent from them again!

    Maggie2015-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, and so well located. Brad and Becca are great hosts, they'll make you feel right at home. Would definitely book again :)

    Alan2016-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Brad and Becca's house. The house is new, well kept, and clean. The bed is dream to sleep on. The location is solid for anything you'd want to do in SE and access to 75, a main bus line, is just around the corner. Highly recommended.

  • Great clean unit, really close to restaurants and transit. A little further from the core but easily accessible by streetcar. Anastasia was very responsive and everything was ready. You can sometimes hear Anastasia's family in the morning though the walls, but it wasn't loud enough to be a problem (unless you're a very light sleeper)

    Sherman2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect. Located on a busy street with lots of restaurants and stores. The bus stops are within walking distance. I really recommend this studio! The studio has nearly everything you would need. A bed, a mini-kitchen, and a full bath. Anastasia is a wonderful host!

    Bonnie2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The space was great and the location was ideal. Right off of a main drag, it's easy to get to restaurants and bars. At the same time in the opposite direction are the most incredible houses I've seen and about a mile up the road are some great trails that lead to Pittock Mansion. The best of both worlds within steps!

  • Anastasia’s place was awesome- perfect location for going out to 23rd’s restaurants and stores. The room was exactly as listed, super clean, comfortable bed, and Anastasia was great with communication. I’d definitely stay again next time I visit Portland!

Cute little Tiny House! It used to be our boys' fort when they were young, now it is a comfortable little retreat for adventurers exploring Portland!
Cute little back yard "granny flat" cottage located near Mt Tabor park in very desirable neighborhood! The cottage is "Portland Style" construction with excellent insulation (R30), new windows, etc.. Great host, free internet, parking, furnished living space that is quite private.. The cottage contains an upstairs bedroom & sitting area. Note: There are steep stairs, so please take that into account ~ if you have joint pain, etc. this might not be the best choice of places to stay... The QUEEN size mattress is new and comfortable. Downstairs there is a small kitchen with stove, microwave and under the counter fridge. Also downstairs is a full bath with ceramic tile shower. Coffee maker and freshly ground coffee provided in the cottage as well as complimentary muffins. At times a made to order hot breakfast is available, message me to see if it will be available during your stay :-D. Guests are welcome to use washer/dryer in main house. Guests have use of the back yard with fruit trees and some berries when in season. Also the cottage is within walking distance of Division street shops, Pizzicato pizza, the 52nd & Foster street Food Carts and much more. The # 4 bus is just a block and a half away, which can take passengers west directly downtown. The TRI-MET app or website is easy to use & can help you get you anywhere from the airport, to downtown, to Powells Books, The Chinese Garden, and so on.
South Tabor Neighborhood is a quiet eclectic little neighborhood with many avid gardners, friendly neighbors, and gobs of dog lovers. We have community get-togethers, work parties, and holiday celebrations! If you are used to neighborhoods where no one knows each other or even speaks to each other this is definitely NOT the neighborhood for you :-D
  • We really enjoyed our stay at South Tabor Cottage. It was close to everything and parking was always a available right in front of house. Lisa's homemade breakfasts were so yummy and filling too. We'd definitely stay here again if we come back to Portland! Oh, and the bed was very comfortable and cozy.

    Lindsay2015-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was as described with a big upstairs bed, a bathroom, small kitchen in a quiet neighborhood. The best thing was the fabulous breakfast prepared by Lisa in the morning - I selected the Eggs Benedict. YUM! And the cottage is pet friendly - my dog was glad to spend the night sleeping on the floor beside the bed. I'd definitely come back. This is the perfect private spot for a single person or a couple.

    Christine2015-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was great! The bed was soo comfortable! The location was perfect too, pretty neighborhood and close to so much good food! Plus, Lisa's homemade breakfast was delicious! I would love to stay here again when I visit Portland again!

    Andrea2016-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a cozy, sweet place to stay for a weekend in Portland! The cottage was really charming and we loved exploring the neighborhood. (Our dog, Otis, especially loved the walk up Mt. Tabor to beautiful views of the city). Lisa's homemade breakfasts were amazing. We highly recommend the cottage!!

    Francie2013-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you're staying in Portland, definitely check out this very nice and cozy cottage. It's places in a good location, and it has fantastic amenities. But the highlight is Lisa's complimentary breakfast made to order. Make sure to get her rosemary (Website hidden by Airbnb) delicious!

    Mike2014-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Lisa for a comfortable stay. Warm and cozy and superb breakfasts. A very convenient location for my particular requirements. Hope to see you again this time next year

    Michael2014-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's place is cozy. I thought the design of the space was pretty cool... a really good use of such a small footprint. We did not get to eat the breakfast she provides but the options looked great and she was willing to accommodate a gluten allergy which is a bonus. Good neighborhood... easy walk to MtTabor park and various restaurants on Division. Also... bed was really comfy!

    Chris2015-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's cottage was simply wonderful! Clean comfortable ,private and easy to find! Lisa was just great with communication when I had any and all questions. The cottage is in a lovely part of Portland near Mt Tabor park. Very easy to find and very close to downtown. The breakfast she provided was excellent and just what was needed. I loved drinking the excellent press coffee and reading for a bit! I look forward to staying there again soon!

  • The loft was just perfect, it was very clean and private. The location was also great, within walking distance to some coffee shops and stores. also very close to public transits. Roland was great, I never actually met him but he was very quick to respond to my texts with any questions. I would definitely recommend staying with Roland during your stay in Portland.

    Robin2015-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Roland was a great host! Super friendly and welcoming. The space was great, the bed was really comfy, and his cat is cute. The neighbourhood is beautiful, and it was super easy to walk around and get to and from.

    Kristy2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Roland and the other folks who live on the property are all very friendly and helpful. They showed me the pool in the back and where the kitchen was if I wanted to cook. And I was assisted with my suitcase. The loft is very comfortable with lots of skylights, a bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, sitting area, table chairs, refrigerator, microwave, coffee grinder and a small coffee pot. Coffee pot took so long I heated a Pyrex measuring cup with water in the microwave to pour over the grounds. There is a private balcony which I enjoyed a lot the first night. This is a really good deal provided by a very nice fellow.

    Patricia2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Once again had a nice stay at Roland’s place. Cute, clean, great location, friendly host. I hope to be back! Thanks Roland!

    Lin2018-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • My visit at Roland's was wonderful! Roland is extremely kind, and very knowledgeable about the area. The room is a loft, so no doors. However, nobody goes upstairs, and there's a bathroom with a bathtub, so it's pretty self-contained. This is also a great neighborhood to walk around in, with Division and Hawthorne nearby with all the cool shops and restaurants, and public transportation is easily accessible just down the street. I really had a great time!

    Nichole2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Loft at Roland's house is marvelous! My boyfriend and I had such a lovely stay in Portland thanks to Roland. There's a balcony up there, AC unit, comfy queen bed, and everything else you could need. The neighborhood is super clutch - close to Division & Clinton and Hawthorne; food, coffee, bars, fun, everything is nearby. We could not have asked for a better location and value.

    Lauren2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great host. Great location. The loft is huge. It’s big enough to live in in a permanent sense 👍🏼

    Sarah2018-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • The description is accurate, the location is great, and Roland is a great host and delightful to talk to. I don't think I could've asked for better this trip.

Nestled in the private backyard of our family home, a neighborhood hub. The round, rustic, romantic MudHut hides in a secret garden overlooking the St. Johns bridge and sparkling river, near Cathedral Park, Forest Park, downtown St. Johns, canoe and hiking trails... Firepit, permaculture gardens, loaner bikes, community life, view!
Our hut was handbuilt by family, friends, and community with great love and serves as a guesthouse, homeschool hut, sauna and sanctuary. Wood-heated and candle-lit, it's a tranquil, rustic sleeping space. I recommend staying two nights for an immersive experience in the relaxing atmosphere.
We're in St. Johns, Portland's northern-most neighborhood and a small town of its own with a strong community identity here. Many families here trace their roots back to James John, the pioneer founder of St. Johns who is memorialized all over the neighborhood. Downtown St. Johns is a few blocks away, with plenty of restaurants (Thai, vegan, soulfood, chinese, pub grub, pizza, deli, breakfast, coffee & gelato), an old movie theater and shopping (lots of vintage). Cathedral Park, three blocks away, is gorgeous and photogenic with access to the Willamette River and the awesome overhead presence of the gothic St. Johns Bridge that you can see from the hut. We're also close to a lot of natural areas for urban hiking and paddling. Forest Park, full of trails and old growth forest, is right across the bridge. Just north of here is Kelley Point Park, the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers; Smith and Bybee Lakes, a wetlands for birding and paddling; and Sauvie Island, with beaches, farms, nurseries, hiking, fishing, & birding. We're on the Pacific migratory fly-way, so lots of raptor action around here. Bald eagles, peregrine falcons and hawks swoop by regularly.
  • The experience was absolutely perfect, and Ivy was an outstanding host.

    Adam2016-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome! The mud hut is a really cozy place to stay, and has everything you need (especially when it's a little chilly outside). Ivy was incredibly accommodating, and is willing to work with you to make your stay more personal. Plus, they make great home brews! Even though I live in Portland, I may just come back once and a while just to relax and drink ginger beer. Thanks again!

    Rob2015-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Ivy met us at the door and was very kind and accommodating. She went above and beyond what is expected of a host and even offered to help us get the fire going. The Mud Hut is a wonderful place, which allows you to feel both cozy and isolated; it feels verrry vacationy. There's also a beautiful view of the bridge and Cathedral Park is only a short distance away, as is town with restaurants and a movie theater and all the stuff you could want. Thanks Ivy!

    Robert2016-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Ivy and C are so welcoming we felt right at home. They made our very first Airbnb experience one of a kind! Much of the time we had space to ourselves, but when we did get to see them conversation was easy going and all of their suggestions for exploring the city really made our trip.

    AnaMarie2015-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and magical place! I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked onto Ivys property, it was even more beautiful than the photos! I instantly felt at home and calm. What a great surprise for my friend visiting from out of state! She was thankful to have such a special place to rest her head after hours of travel. I wish I could have stayed longer but I'll be back soon! Thank you so much!

    Gabriella2014-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • The entire experience was perfection. The hut really pulled away the distractions that traditional hotels book as perks. Initially we didn't think we would be spending much time at the Mud Hut but it is so hard not to linger when you feel so safe and cozy. The view was spectacular as promised. If you are in Portland and want a unique experience even by Air bnb standards than this is it!

    Dan2015-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! My boyfriend and I were visiting Portland for the first time together and we wanted the ultimate "unique" Portland experience and this was it! The amenities were endless, hot tub, bikes, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, amazing garden. Ivy was a great host and accommodating. She let us use her bikes to ride into the city just as we arrived. The hut was simply amazing. I wanted to talk to her more about the structure but we had a lot to do and she kept busy with her kids. The bed was cozy and it was cool and candlelit. We didn't need the wood heater even though it was cold at night. This was an great experience and I am so happy that we were able to do it. Very cool! Someone mentioned that it is like camping, and it was. It gave us our fix without having to lug all of the equipment. The bathroom is separate and in the basement so just note that, but we didn't mind.

    Ashley T2016-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ivy was just awesome! We arrived later than expected but she still offered to give us a tour in the dark. Loved loved loved the hut and we will definitely be staying there again. Thanks ivy! :)

Seen on the TV show "Tiny House Nation", CNN, Food & Wine Magazine, and the NY Post, the 350 sq ft Rustic Modern Tiny House was designed and built by us, your friendly AirBNB hosts. Guests call it "completely charming" and "the perfect urban getaway". Welcome! M+J
For years we've been daydreaming about building a little house one day. Then we finally made it happen - using our own two hands (DIY! The Portland way!) and with the help of some great friends. We had a vision in mind, but a lot of the details came together as we built, based on what materials we had available to us. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room with convertible couch, and bathroom with tiny clawfoot tub. Access the upstairs via STAIRS (not a ladder), where you'll find our loft bedroom with comfortable queen sized bed. Sustainable design is important to us, and the house is constructed and furnished from an eclectic array of reclaimed materials - squirreled away over the years, and now creatively reused and repurposed. See photo captions for a detailed walkthrough of the house. A PARTIAL SNAPSHOT • The trim and shelves are reclaimed from an old shed that used to be on the property. • Teak hardwood flooring, cedar shake siding - salvaged from high-end construction jobs. • The wood-clad windows salvaged from a horse farm in the Oregon countryside. • The kitchenette stove/refrigerator sourced from the Hood River History Museum. Instagram: @rusticmoderntiny
We love our walk/bike friendly N. Williams Ave neighborhood - it's been getting a lot of media attention as one of Portland's hottest neighborhoods. You are one block from the main corridor, bustling with award-winning restaurants, bars, coffee shops, wine bars, bakeries, yoga studios, and indie boutiques - it seems there's something new every week. Sunset Magazine loves its “low-key urban vibe", past guests call our neighborhood "awesome", "amazing" and "full of things to do". Our street has even made an appearance or two on the TV show Portlandia.
  • Adorable place and a great neighborhood to explore! We loved our time there. We visit Portland from time to time and this was a wonderful trip. High recommendation.

    David2018-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a lovely stay at this beautiful home. It was hard to leave - wish I had stayed longer. Also, though this property is considered and known as a tiny house, the space was so well-designed that it did not feel small at all. I had everything I needed - so peaceful and relaxing. The front garden and all the little details around the house made this place extra special. You can tell that Michael and Jenna spent a lot of time making sure everything fits and goes where they belong. Parking was also very convenient. Property is located few blocks from restaurants and shops but in a residential area so there were a lot of spaces for street parking. Overall, can't say anything bad about it. Hope everyone gets to enjoy this place as much as I did.

    Nina2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for everything..the tiny house was perfect! We had an awesome vacation in Portland! M+J

    Melissa2017-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the tiny house for a quick Portland trip over Christmas. Adorable, perfect size for two and central to everything we needed. Would be great in summer, I bet! Thanks for creating such a comfortable space that also feels quite special.

    Katie2015-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We finished our winter holidays in Portland to visit a friend. The tiny house looks exactly like in the pictures. It was very cosy and clean. It is near to a shopping strip with some great restaurants and cocktail bar. Michael and Jenny sent us a message via airbnb to welcome us and also to offer any additional info. It is nice to receive these extra welcome messages and it shows how Michael and Jenny are great hosts. Would definitely come back again. Thanks !

    Karin2015-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Rustic Tiny Little House for a weekend of exploring Portland's Breweries, Coffee roasters and bike paths. Everything about the tiny little house exceeded our expectations, and Michael was a great host. He took us for coffee around the corner and gave expert tips about Portland. We used the bikes extensively, and particularly loved the one with the flowers :). The location of the little house is great, about half-way between downtown and the NE Alberta St district. Very close to the Mississippi area. Altogether, very big thumps-up!

    Sebastian2013-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Tiny House! The attention to detail can be seen all over the house. Combined with the great neighborhood we can't wait for our next trip!

    Ethan2014-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had the greatest time staying at the Tiny House! Everything was just as charming as it looked in the pictures, and the location was great. We were able to easily walk to many delicious restaurants and always felt very safe! (One of the reviews I read said that the people thought it was a creepy neighborhood - I disagree!) I would definitely recommend staying here - Michael and Jenna were very helpful and easy to communicate with!

This space will make you feel cozy and right at home! A bright and well appointed tiny house located in Northeast Portland. Just steps from some of the best restaurants in all of Portland. The Alberta Arts district is just a few blocks away with cafes, pubs and local shopping. There are unique neighborhood amenities, such as the soaking pool and movie theater at the Kennedy School. For more photos and neighborhood info, visit: @portlandtinyhouse on Instagram.
We put a lot of love into Portland Tiny House. The space includes warm wood flooring, ceramic tiling, modern decor and special vintage touches. The house has a very comfortable Tuft and Needle queen sized bed, bathroom, kitchenette equipped for cooking light meals and cozy counter seating for two. Coffee, tea, fresh eggs and Portland travel guides provided. Need anything else?...just let us know! (2 guests with a small child may sometimes be accommodated)
Guests are a block away from Portland's most popular and notable restaurants: DOC, Beast, Autentica, Dame, Expatriate, Wilder and Yakuza Lounge. The house is within walking distance to the local New Seasons Market and the Alberta Arts District with shops/restaurants/art galleries and the hugely popular Last Thursday monthly arts festival. You certainly won't want to miss all of the wonderful shops and restaurants up on Alberta Street. There are many popular restaurants that often have a line to get in (yes...they are THAT good!) like Pine State Biscuits, Salt and Straw Ice Cream, The Grilled Cheese Grill and the Bollywood Theater. Lots of vegan dining as well: Vita Cafe, Back to Eden Bakery and the Bye and Bye Pub. So many wonderful options, we usually have a hard time deciding what to pick! Just around the corner: Walk a block up to enjoy hand-crafted morning coffee at Extracto or breakfast at Cup & Saucer. Drop in to take a yoga class at The People's Yoga studio. Hunt for fun vintage finds at Red Fox Vintage. Or you can explore the McMenamins Kennedy School: a historic elementary school re-purposed as a hotel (including a movie theater, soaking pool ($5 for a relaxing soak), restaurants and pubs). There are two parks within walking distance from the tiny house, Alberta Park and Fernhill Park. Peninsula Park is also a quick jaunt from the tiny house and it boasts a beautiful, seasonal rose garden that is often less crowded than the well known International Rose Test Garden in the West hills.
  • The tiny house was very comfortable and well located. I was able to walk to a nice grocery store and the Alberta Arts District where there were plenty of eateries and shops. Both were about a half mile out. I was allotted a lot of privacy and met the hosts once. They were nice people and very accommodating when I asked for an early check in. My toddler's nap time was earlier than the check in time. They also were very responsive when I experienced some connectivity issues with the wifi.

    Kim2015-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • My goodness, where do i begin. I can't accurately put into words how lovely my stay was but i'll try. The space fit me perfectly! From the cute chicken coop to the beautiful vintage decor to the handmade pieces in the space. Not to mention, the natural light that floods the space during the day made the whole house look heavenly! I mentioned my daily tea drinking to duston & genevieve and they provided me with a large jar of assorted teas - how lovely is that! So kind! Their hospitality was a 10 out of 10. The bed was so incredibly comfortable, i mean REALLY comfortable! I also loved being able to connect my playlists to the speakers provided. My music just set the mood so well! The space/decor is so incredibly unique and inspiring! I can't stress that enough. Everything was kept very clean and 100% accurate to the photos. But being in the actual space was even better than the photos! It was easy to make any meals i desired. They provided a hot plate, pots, a tea kettle, a french press, silverware, beautiful ceramic mugs, etc. The kitchenette is fully stocked! They also provided all natural products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash) and small toiletries as well! So nice! The neighborhood is EXTREMELY walkable which was huge for me! I took strolls around the neighborhood every day and just a 2 minute walk up the alley takes you to the yummiest restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, vintage shops, yoga studio and more. Cup and Saucer was my favorite for breakfast! So good! A few more minutes of walking takes you to a grocery store and also the lively alberta street where there is an endless array of shops! Anything your heart desires will be a 10 minute walk or less from the tiny house! The location is so perfect! Duston and Genevieve were so incredibly kind and quick to respond to any questions I had! This tiny house became my sweet, safe haven. It made my stay in portland even better than i imagined. My stay here even inspired me to remodel my own space at home! I'm getting fun ideas together now! I won't hesitate to book this place again for my next visit! Book this place immediately, you won't be disappointed! Duston and Genevieve have created something so wonderful with this tiny house! Everything about my stay was magical and i can't say thank you enough to my lovely hosts!

    Emiah2016-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great choice. The tiny house is beautiful and private. Had absolutely no issues. Very clean and you can tell Genevieve and Dustin take pride in ownership. Great neighborhood, very safe. In walking distance of several shops and local eateries. This was our first time using Airbnb and our experience couldn't have been better.

    Sarah2016-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the tiny home. The owners made it such an amazing stay for us! This small home has everything you need. Would 100% recommend to everyone!

    Isabella2017-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Their tiny home was immaculate and absolutely perfect, and we couldn't stop marveling at the decor. It was incredibly quiet and private, and conveniently located near local coffee shops and restaurants. It's so wonderful to stay in a cozy neighborhood home rather than a hotel chain. Thanks for everything!

    Kathleen2015-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We found the Tiny House to be a perfect spot to stay while visiting Portland. On our arrival we were warmly greeted by Duston, Genevieve and their lovely daughter. This very peaceful cottage has it's own entrance from the alley behind. Which is nice, not having to worry about disturbing the hosts. Also, the cottage is full of natural light and was decorated with a great attention to style. As an interior designer, I found this aspect most pleasing. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. Overall, our experience could not have been better! We would defiantly come back!

    James2015-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house is even cuter in person. Central location with lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Downtown is only a 10 minute drive. Quiet and friendly neighborhood. Hope to return again soon!

    Nicole2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome little spot. Great location. Kind hosts, great about communication. Not a ton of space, but perfect for our needs (couple), spent time exploring PDX.

  • My first AirBnB experience, and Paul made it great. Great communication, comfortable and private suite.

    Sam2017-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • This sparkling clean apartment was everything we needed for a quick trip to Portland! Paul was a great host - he was quick to respond and made us feel very welcome. The apartment was super comfortable and Paul has thought of everything - from coffee, water, silverware and plates, to shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We loved walking our dog in Grant Park and this is a great location for visiting other Portland neighborhoods or downtown.

    Kellie2018-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was an amazingly accommodating and helpful host. My family loved our stay in the "Funky Pad" and he even had great suggestions for local spots just a walk out the door. The beds were like sleeping on clouds, and the bathroom full of clean towels, and even an optional mini-bar. Would stay again.

    Aila2015-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Quick two days in Portland over a weekend, also our first time using Airbnb. This is very convenient location, easy on/off highway. The suite is clean and comfortable, Host Paul made almost everything easy and available.

    Vivian2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and warm!! Love it!!

    Alice2014-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • this was my first airbnb experience and it was incredible: the funky pad suite is amazing, paul & carolyn are even more amazing. i stayed here for three nights with three friends, so we were a total of 4 staying up in the suite. it's beautiful, trendy and super clean and comfortable. paul checked us in and was so sincere and funny throughout our trip--he really cared about our comfort and wanted to help us get the most out of our time in portland. we took carolyn's restaurant suggestions every night and were not disappointed, there's a lot of amazing, affordable food near this house. getting around town was easy too--20 minute walk to the alberta arts district, a couple seconds from a bus stop that takes you downtown, (Website hidden by Airbnb) of our best experiences was renting bikes from paul for a day. super reasonably priced for great bikes which we rode literally around the entire city and up into forest park. paul made sure the bikes were ready for us and gave us locks to use. other stuff: they compost and recycle, they have a neat, spacious backyard that we used one night to sit around and have snacks/drinks, the internet worked really well......i would definitely stay here again. what really made this an above-and-beyond experience was paul, he is a really compelling person and i'm so glad we met him. we hope to go back someday!!

    Ashley2013-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a great stay in Paul's home. The apartment is exactly as advertised. While it is a cozy space, we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The location is in a beautiful neighborhood, right across the street from a park and a quick drive to many parts of the city. Paul was very helpful and an excellent host. I hope to stay here in the future!

    Lindsay2014-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • My adult daughter and I spent one night at the Funky Pad Suite. The Funky Pad is accessed through Paul's living area, through a door at the end of the living room and up a little stairway. Entering the Funky Pad is entering a spotlessly clean, sleek, modern, comfortable oasis. It is exactly as shown in the airbnb photos and description. This is a great accommodation for travelers who like a some private space to spread out or hang out, and some separation of sleeping areas. The beds are super comfortable. Cute sleeping alcove for the second bed. Nice little kitchenette area. Funky Pad is located on a very busy street, and car and truck noise kept me up at night in spite of wearing earplugs. No stars deducted for this - I think it's just overly-sound-sensitive me. I often wear earplugs even at home in the quiet country. My daughter slept in the alcove, which directly overlooks the street, and didn't notice the noise at all; she had a great night's sleep. Didn't have the opportunity to explore the neighborhood, but there is a large park, which looked very nice, right across the street. Paul has created a very sweet, comfortable and spacious accommodation for his guests.

My house is close to light rail and bus lines in a quiet and secure area. Many restaurants, coffee houses and bars are within walking distance and there is a large grocery store nearby in case you need provisions. There are parks within walking distance as is the Adidas campus. My place is good for solo adventurers and business travelers. There is another bedroom that can sleep two and I have an air mattress available.
Private home with 2 bedrooms in the upstairs of the house. Fully equipped kitchen with a laundry room. The stove is gas so please ask for instructions on how it works before using. The back yard is shady and there is a patio with a fireplace. The neighborhood is very quiet and easy to walk around in.
There are quite a few very good restaurants with in walking distance of the house with a sprinkling of coffee houses and bars. Well lit and quiet there are also a couple of parks with in a few blocks. Also a great grocery store is near by.
  • Everything was set up ready for staying in! Clean and tidy! 5-10 minute drive downtown depending on destination. Restaurants, coffee and connivence stores all just blocks away. Highly recommended!

  • I travel to Portland for work so I needed somewhere relatively quiet, safe, and economical to stay for the night. That said, this place met all of these parameters and then some! Unfortunately, I was busy all day, so I slept like a rock and never got to meet Sheilah (sorry!). Sheilah was consistent with communication, and very accommodating. As a young professional, I'm frequently on-the-go until it's time for bed, so it can be quite stressful having to worry about the cost and location of where I'm spending the night. Thankfully, Sheilah provided a worry-free experience!

    Edmond2017-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house, great value and a comfy bed. Sheilah is one of the reasons why Airbnb is rad.

    Billy2017-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • The room was super cute and stylish.

    Carol2018-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Sheilah's place is perfect! So much within walking distance and not a far drive from anywhere. Perfect for a stay in Portland!!

    Elizabeth2017-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sheilah was great. We connected and had a nice chat when I arrived. She provides a guest book that really points out the many, many, local points of interest(food, bar, activities). I stayed 3 nights. The location was perfect for Max and freeway access. Tried the local sushi spot(Mio??) and Atomic pizza, and Bonita Mexican food, all good and walkable. The home and room are so clean and welcoming. The upstairs (where the guest rooms are) seems almost brand new. The layout is (Website hidden by Airbnb) guest room to right the other to be left. Had my own thermometer/heater. Bedding and room close to immaculate!! So appreciated that!! The shared bathroom is super clean and nice. (Thank you for the disposable razor). I was sharing the bathroom with another couple in the room adjacent to mine although they we were right next to each other, I only saw them once and it felt like I had the place to myself. Totally recommend this room and Sheilah is lovely host(eww).

    Bobby2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • I didn't actually make it in to Portland due to weather and travel problems. Sheila was really kind and even offered to discount my stay when I rebook in the future. I thought that was a really kind and thoughtful gesture.

    Anna2017-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Sheilah's place is in a great neighborhood that is safe and gives a feel for residential life in Portland. She is very friendly and gave clear directions for how to access her home. The bedroom is clean and comfortable and perfect for one person!

  • A fantastic space. Easy to find and park up if driving. Plenty of public transport around, or if you’re lazy like me you can use Radio Cabs to get into town for about $9,a good service from them. All comms with Sari were excellent. The checkin/checkout process was really straightforward, and the apartment had everything I needed and more. Comfortable bed, great shower, easy to use oven and hob, all the important stuff - plus lots of thoughtful touches - olive oil and seasonings in the kitchen, useful bathroom / medical basics, all great! Would return without a second thought. There is a Safeway about three blocks away, and loads of bar/restaurant options. Total privacy with a nice little outside space for relaxing if you wish. Loved it!

  • Great location to so many shops and good food options! Plenty of space in the actual apartment. Two suggestions made to the owners about some issues we encountered.

  • This is such a lovely place to stay. Fully equipped and so comfortable with everything you could need for a trip base. The unit feels private and is set back from the road so is nice and quiet. The neighbourhood and location is fantastic to explore Portland and especially if you like great food as many hot spots are within walking distance! We really liked all the provided local guidebooks and magazines to get to know the city. Highly recommend!

    Lindsay2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for walking to the Division St. neighborhood. My daughter and I loved walking through the beautiful neighborhood. The Linden trees and roses were in bloom and the whole area was so fragrant. Sari was very kind and quick to respond to any questions I had. I booked this place because of the kitchen - I thought I would save money and cook but there were so many great restaurants to try and so many activities planned at the wedding we were attending that we ended up just using it for breakfast which was great. One day we needed to sleep in after a late night and the place provided us with privacy and quiet. Thanks Sari!

    Theodora2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience here was lovely!! It's the perfect, quaint, relaxing studio in a beautiful neighborhood in the SE area of Portland. We were close to downtown and within walking distance of great cafes and restaurants. Every day, after our adventures, we came home to relaxation! I highly recommend this place for either a couple or a family of 3. We look forward to visiting this place again on our next Portland adventure.

    Emma2015-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our time at Ed and Sari's place. We ran into Sari briefly and introduced ourselves before we went for a walk over to the neighborhood food carts at Tidbit (which is an excellent use of your time -- (Website hidden by Airbnb) ... We highly recommend Smaaken Waffles). The accommodation was very nice, well kept, very quiet and peaceful. We would stay again and recommend to others. Walk over to Salt & Straw if you've never been there before, also -- it's worth it.

  • Superb space and great communication from the hosts.

  • Had a nice, quick stay. As soon as I stepped into the listing, I instantly felt comfortable. The space is clean and well thought out with excellent amenities. The neighborhood is beautiful and very walkable. My contact with the hosts was brief but they had everything covered. Thanks for a seamless stay :)

Our studio guest house comfortably sleeps two and features a mini kitchen and private bath. Walk through the garden to your private entrance. Curl up by the fire and enjoy one of the art books from our library. Walk to nearby Alberta Arts District.
With two small children at home, we have found little time to paint in the second floor of the studio building at the rear of our property. Come and enjoy this lovely space! It features high ceilings, ample light, a wood stove (with back-up electric heat), views of the surrounding gardens, a large table and a drafting table to spread out and work on, and an art book library. The kitchenette is equipped with a sink, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and electric kettle. It does not have a cook top or oven or toaster. We provide coffee and tea. The bathroom features a shower stall and an eco-toilet that collects water from hand washing to use on the next flush. With summer temperatures rising, we recently added an AC window unit for our guests comfort. We offer a full bed with a seven inch Ikea spring mattress and a two inch memory-foam topper. Our guests report that the room is surprisingly quiet at night. Please note we do not have a TV; however, our wifi is fast enough to watch movies or shows on your personal device.
I love this place. This is a residential neighborhood with a wide cross section of racial and economic diversity, a lot of the old 'hood funkiness still intact, plus newer hipster creativity and some higher-end business activity. Expect to see a mix of dilapidated buildings and newer or rejuvenated construction. We feel safe at night, however I do advise women to be wary about walking alone at night, particularly if you don't have much street smarts. We are within easy walking distance of Alberta Street Co-op, coffee shops, restaurants, bars and other businesses. The post office, laundromat, Safeway and Walgreens are very close by as well.
  • This was our first trip to Portland, and I must say that staying at Nell's place definitely enhanced our trip as we had such a nice and cozy studio to come back to at the end of each day! Everything was easy, parking is right out front, lock is a combo lock, amenities such as towels, soap, shampoo, etc. are all available, if you're cold there's a heater (we did not use it), and if you're hot there's the A/C and a ceiling fan. There just isn't enough words to describe how wonderful this studio is. We will definitely return here if we come back to Portland. Nell and Jeremy were also great hosts! My girlfriend and I like to spend all day exploring so we didn't get to spend much time with Nell, but she was very courteous and was very helpful to whatever questions we had about the city and made it easy to contact her at any point in time. Great stay!

    Virgil2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Nell's place was absolutely amazing. It was self check-in which was really convenient. The Studio was stunning! Even better than we imagined. It was spotlessly clean and so tastily designed and built. LOVED IT! We met Nell and her kid (and dog) briefly in the morning. They were warm and helpful, but for the most part just gave the alone time we wanted to enjoy the wonderful studio space. It was furnished with everything we could have needed and then some. I'd stay here in again in a heartbeat!

    Alek2015-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • The studio space is very clean and cozy. It's a short walk to shops and food, and is in a nice quiet neighborhood. Would definitely go back.

    Ryan2015-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly the best air bnb ive used to date - for convenience, location, and appeal. Will be staying at this artist retreat on future visits to Portland and so should you.

    Robert2016-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • My favorite Airbnb of all time! The retreat is beautifully appointed and there wasn't a single element missing: coffee, check; half-and-half for coffee, check; forgot my conditioner, no problem, check; cosy bed, check! I loved staying in the Northeast neighborhood, on a quiet, pretty street, but still within easy access to Alberta St.'s food options and downtown by car or bus. Even though I did not encounter the hosts once, I felt cared for here, and will, without question, look forward to the garden retreat my next time in Portland. Thank you Nell!

    Jill2015-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • We were only here for the night but it was a perfect overnight. The art work added such a homey feel. Nell was responsive to any inquiry. We loved the studio and would highly reccomend it.

NEW MURPHY BED with comfy mattress! Great little tiny house in a fantastic neighborhood. It is cozy and modern, with a great layout. It's a tiny, stand alone house with a private bathroom. Short Term Rental Permit Numb (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) -HO
Brand new, tiny-home style house. 200 sq ft. Covered porch. Full bath with standing tile shower. Full-size wall bed "Murphy bed" installed December 2015. Bamboo floors & reclaimed wood stairs. No kitchen, but has a microwave for heating up leftovers, water, or popcorn. Wifi. This is one block off Mississippi Ave, with many bars, restaurants, and one of the best coffee shops (Fresh Pot) in Portland. A block away from Amnesia Brewing and Grand Central bakery. 10 minute walk from the Yellow Line MAX (Overlook station.) Mississippi Studios is right down the street- a fantastic venue for local and traveling bands.
  • Rick's place was awesome! Very clean and interesting outside and in. We found it to be plenty of room for four, though we spent very little time in the actual house. The neighborhood is perfect, literally a block away from Mississippi, which has loads of bars and restaurants. A great place to experience Portland! Would highly recommend.

    Daniel2013-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at the Little Green House. It's cute, clean and the location is terrific. We couldn't have asked for more!

    Kristin2014-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Rick and Kristen were awesome hosts. They messaged me before my stay and were available by phone when I had questions. The home is in great shape and the location is perfect if you're looking to shop, eat, and drink right off Mississippi. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Seattle.

    Elizabeth2015-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • The room is in a great location, close to many bars restaurants. I'd recommend for a couple or single person. Very private

    Josh2016-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • This space (The Little Green House) matched our needs, which was a quick one-night stay, mostly just to sleep, for our party of two. We slept very comfortably on the bed. It's one room, which I didn't quite understand from the pictures, and the bed is a pull-down from a standing cabinet, into the room. Unlike some AirB&Bs we've stayed at, there were no "extra touches" to personalize the stay or welcome guests - it's very minimal. However it's also a great price for a very awesome location and has all the essentials.

    Anne2016-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot. convenient, clean, awesome.

    Huston2013-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rick's tiny house was fantastic. The location right off Mississippi Street is ideal. Check in was a breeze with the keypad lock. The place was clean and the beds were comfortable. The house is definitely minimalist so don't expect it to be well equipped beyond the description. However the wifi worked great. The bathroom is pretty luxurious given the size of the house. The place is so popular that people knocked on the door to check it out after seeing the listing on Airbnb!

    Dave2014-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying at the Little Green House! The house was in a great neighborhood and was easy walking distance to restaurants, bars, and shops. We chose not to have a rental car and couldn't have been happier! The transit system was extremely easy to use and close by. We often walked to the Yellow Max Line or took Bus 4 (bus stop is so convenient!). The house was in wonderful condition and had everything we needed! Rick is correct in that the ladder is steep! We had one small hiccup when we checked in...our door code didn't work! However, Rick was available at 11:30 pm to help with a new code. Thanks for an absolutely great time in PDX! We can't wait to visit again and stay at the Little Green House!

Brand spanking new, beautiful, modern addition built on our ranch house.
Our 425 square foot addition is brand new (finished 2015) - immaculately designed, gorgeous and a perfect place to stay during your time in Portland. It has a pellet stove for delightful ambiance (and heating), it's own entrance, a blow-up air mattress (for a third guest) and a patio. Stay in a place completely Portland, powered by solar panels, built environmentally friendly, sitting on a major bike street and a couple blocks from the MAX light rail.
Our house is within 2 miles of the fantastic north and north east neighborhoods of Williams, Mississippi and Alberta. There are dozens of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance and I leave a list of our local favorites in the house.
  • We had a really wonderful stay at the Addition. Very impressed with what they have built - the space is super clean, inviting and every little touch was appreciated. Joe was super responsive and helpful and made our stay in Portland that much better! Thanks again!

  • “The Addition” is an awesome place in a quiet residential area, yet so close to Portland’s city center. We had the pleasure of spending one night at this Airbnb gem and would definitely stay again. It’s clean, quiet and has all you need plus a good selection of books. Joe and his family are thoughtful hosts who make sure their guests have all the info they need. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a place to stay in or around Portland, OR.

  • My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time at The Addition. The location was convenient . Parking was very easy. A lot of places to eat and drink were only a short drive away. The space was nice and quaint. I really appreciated the booklet of suggestions. Joe's instructions were very clear, making it easy for us to check in and out. He and his wife went above and beyond to make our experience in Portland so great. We hope to be back soon.

  • Heidi and Marenda's loft was everything that you see in the pictures: clean, modern, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The location was in a quiet neighborhood that was a quick 15-25 minute drive from most places we went. Heidi and Marenda were very responsive, and made great recommendations for our day trip through the Columbia River Gorge. I highly recommend this place for your trip to Portland!

    Emily2015-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the neighborhood feel of the place and the loft itself was comfy and welcoming. Enjoyed the use of reclaimed wood decor and the open floor plan. Great place! Go to Thai Cottage during your stay, too! The hosts were nice and unobtrusive.

Our home is beautifully situated across from a quiet park. We are located just a couple blocks walk to restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and bus stops on trendy Hawthorne and Division streets.
Our one bedroom, 500 square-foot basement apartment is lovingly decorated in the Northwest Style with touches of Scandinavia. The apartment has separate entrance for your privacy. The bedroom has a queen bed with cozy, fluffy featherbed comforters. The living room has a sofa that converts to double bed with bedding provided. We also have a queen futon available for parties over 4 people. It’s a bit tight for 6 people, but it is possible! We have a little kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker with complimentary coffee. The bathroom has a bath/shower combo with all the essentials provided. We have a television that picks up a few stations, but we do not have cable. Our location is ideal for foodies who want to walk to popular restaurants on SE Hawthorne and SE Division streets. We are directly across the street from a park. The Hawthorne bus (#14) is just 1.5 blocks away and will get you downtown within 10 minutes. We also are walking distance to grocery stores, movie theaters, shops, breweries and pubs. Our neighborhood is quiet at night, so we ask that there be no noise after 10:00pm. We are an early-to-bed, early-to-rise family (up at 5:00am) so you may hear us above in the morning.
We are ideally situated between the popular Hawthorne and Division streets. We are 2.5 blocks from the nearest bus stop and are walking distance to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters. Best of all we are located right across the street from a park. There is ample parking as well.
  • Loved our two night stay. Apartment looked better then the pictures. It was very clean and we had enough space to store our luggage. Havibg a washing machine and a dryer was a big bonus: after traveling around for more then a week, we were happy to do some laundry. By foot and bus, it took us 30 minutes to get downtown (2.50 each, no change), but we mainly stayed close to the house, Division St and Hawthorne St were the best for eating, drinking and watching the locals. One thing to keep in mind: the apartment upstairs is rented sometimes and you can hear these guest's footsteps and talking. Not a problem, just something you should know. Would definitely return, highly recommended!

  • I loved being able to just let myself in, the place is very conveniently located and the neighborhood is sweet and near lots of great stuff. Bed was fantastic - the place is simple and the tile in the shower is really beautiful. Bedding was also quite cozy and Jennifer was very responsive when I needed something. I was there for work and it was quite easy to get in and out and had a great night's sleep.

  • Perfect location by Hawthorne. Quick walk to the Market. Users of the park across the street were friendly. Close to a few nice places to eat. The bathroom is nice and the pics do not do it justice.

  • Spent a week at Jennifer's place and it was exactly what I wanted. It's close to everything a foodie's heart would desire. Jennifer went above and beyond as a host and refunded me money because we decided to spend our last night in seaside instead. The rate was already very low, and it wasn't necessary for her to refund the money for the last night, but it truly shows her hostpitable nature. She represents Portland very well.

    Regan2017-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's place was great! Everything was as advertised - the apartment was clean and stylish. Jennifer was a great host. She communicated quickly and efficiently, and also kept a respectful distance to give us space to do our own thing. To top it all off, Jennifer's place is in a really cool neighborhood, so there was lots to explore.

  • very convenient apartment with everything you need and a beautiful neighbourhood. we would recommend it!

  • Jennifer’s Place is cute and quaint! The neighborhood is very pretty and walkable to places or a quick and easy Uber ride to downtown Portland. We really enjoyed our stay!

  • Jennifer’s place is simple, clean, quiet and cozy and just steps away from Hawthorne. Easy to get to from the airport, and right on public transport.

  • My wife and I stayed at Melissa's place for a long weekend, and it turned out to be the perfect place from which to explore the city. The restaurants and shops of Alberta St. are in walking distance (about 20mins, or a few minutes on the bus), and it is close to the airport. Melissa provided great suggestions on what to do in the city and was quick to help us with any problem. She is everything we could wish for in a host, highly recommend!!

  • We had a wonderful time in this cozy little retreat in NE Portland. The area is gorgeous and comfortable, and not too far from the city. The full, private kitchen was such a plus and made for a great day indoors on a rainy day. I would definitely recommend staying here!

    Hayden2018-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa was phenomenal! She was communicative on all of my questions. She even provided great food recommendations and offered more should we need them. Everything went smoothly, and I highly recommend staying with her if you're in Portland.

    Sasha2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This AirBnB was an amazing location to stay at. Definitely a closer location to a lot of the hikes in Portland and had the added benefit of being close to popular food locations. Pok Pok and Nongs were super close.

    Ian2018-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Melissa's was fantastic! The basement space was beautiful and had everything we needed for a perfect trip to Portland. The location is very convenient and we found no shortage of things to do. Would love to come back someday! The only slight bother was that the heater blows right in your face on one side of the bed, but the room heats up quickly so you hardly need it!

    Gerrit2018-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place was everything we could have wanted. The apartment was so cozy, homey, clean and charming. Melissa is the most wonderful host and we had the best time!! The location and amenities were so great as well.

  • Heather's cottage could not have been better. Clean, cozy and great location. Heather was very helpful and provided great recommendations for weekend getaway.

  • Great place, in a great area! There are tons of cool places to eat that are walking distance from this place. Everything was super clean, and comfortable. The bus stops are very close too, so you're able to get around the city well. Heather was very flexible and responded quickly to our questions. Overall this was a great first experience in Portland! Can't wait to visit again soon!

    Valerie2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was gorgeous! Super clean and beautifully decorated. There were many helpful pamphlets and cute books on the shelves, and a coffee maker included with K-Pods. The bed was surprisingly comfortable after a long day of exploring Portland and its main attractions. The house was around many cute restaurants and only three miles from central downtown. Overall a wonderful experience and should we visit Portland again, we hope to stay here once more!

  • The place was perfect! It was nice and cozy, even in the ice and snow. Thank you, Heather!

    Megan2017-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Just as described: like a nice hotel room in a serene backyard. Super clean and cozy and that BED is VERY PLUSH and comfy. I would have liked to see even more of the cute and sweet kitten in the backyard, but I'm sure she had other adventures in the neighborhood to look after. Thanks, Heather, for making everything so easy and comfortable.

  • Can't say enough good things about Chuck & Annika's place. They were super friendly and lovely when we interacted but were great about leaving us space as well. The listing itself is awesome; very clean and comfortable and really nice to stay in although we spent most of our time out & about. They really pay attention to the little details and made us feel totally welcome and at home. They have a great list of information about the area, and recommendations which we felt were spot-on. The location is also perfect; a very easy walk to a ton of restaurants/shopping/etc, as well as access to a bus line that runs frequently through to downtown which makes access easy to pretty much everywhere with no need for a car. Would recommend whole-heartedly and would definitely love to stay here again.

    Ashley2015-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck and Annika's apartment in Portland is an ideal place to stay. The space is great with everything you need...spotlessly clean, looks brand new with great shower and comfy bed. The area is a highlight...you're minutes from more great restaurants, cafes, bars and shops than you could ever visit! Very nice arty, independent feel to the area. TriMet bus 4 is minutes walk from apartment taking you straight to downtown in about 15/20 mins. Ideal place to stay...highly recommended!

    Gavin2015-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far one of the best Airbnbs that I've ever stayed in! In addition to the GREAT location (a stone's throw away from SE Division, which is one of Portland's best dining neighborhoods), there were a TON of small details that really made us feel welcome during our stay: the comprehensive city guide that Chuck and Annika created, a well stocked bathroom and kitchen, and the chocolate chip cookies/personalized chalkboard sign that greeted us upon arrival. Chuck was also incredibly flexible — although check-in was for later, he allowed us to come and drop our bags off, which I really appreciated! Two thumbs wayyy up!

    Michelle2016-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck and Anikka were great hosts! Their place felt so cozy and welcoming and was perfect for a night's getaway. We would definitely stay there again next time we visit!

    Megan2015-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay here! It was so cozy and cute, and located in a fantastic, walkable neighborhood of Portland. We always found a place to park and felt extremely safe to walk at night if needed. The one thing we noticed was that we could hear very clearly when guests were over upstairs. Fortunately it wasn’t at a time when we were trying to sleep. I’d stay here again in a heart beat! Loved the home baked cookies too 😊

    Melissa2018-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! Street parking was easy to find and the place was walking distance to awesome cafes and shops. Place was clean and had great amenities!

    Megan2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing long weekend at Chuck and Annika's place. The place was well thought out, and we could not have wanted for anything. Shampoo, conditioner, hairdryer, coffee, tea, plates, cups, maps, guides, Netflix etc. Yes, everything was to hand if we needed it! At the end of our busy days we would come back and curl up on the sofas and watch Netflix or read our books. It truly was a home away from home. If we wanted a bite to eat we would walk out of our place, turn right, and in less that 5 minutes we had any number of Division restaurants and bars to choose from. We give two thumbs up for Chuck and Annika's place for style, comfort and and convenience. Definitely want to come back and stay here again.

Magic Barn, circa 1936, former sculpture studio restored by community artists with old growth barn wood, up-cycled furnishings, kitchen, claw foot bath, baby amenities, with a sculpture garden. Centrally located in the heart of a charming restaurant and boutique district; 3 blocks to both SE Hawthorne and Division St. 15 minutes to both the airport and downtown, there are 4 bus stops and rental bikes within 3 blocks, and ample street parking on our block. Natural cleaning products only.
Built with Love! Cannabis is legal in Oregon. You are welcome to responsibly smoke tobacco and cannabis outside only. There are many dispensaries within walking distance. We are permitted by the city of Portland to host ten guests total at a time at the Magic Barn and The Magic House which are adjacent. If you are a group of more than two, please send us an inquiry to see if we can accommodate your group. Family amenities are available upon request: portable crib, baby bath, high chair, etc. From 2000 to 2015 the Magic Barn was Todji's sculpture studio. Most of the sculptures in the sculpture garden were designed right here and are exhibited for everyone to experience. When Todji first moved into the main house as a renter, the Magic Barn was just an empty crooked shed with no electricity, water or heat and it was filled with trash. Todji purchased the old neglected rental in 2004 when self-employed artists could get a loan. After fifteen years of restoring the main house, while building a career as a sculptor, Todji and Gisele decided to convert the sculpture studio into a "Magic Barn" to host travelers and guests such as yourself! During the summer of 2015 Todji designed and built the Magic Barn with the talented carpenters and fine art painters Theo Holdt and TJ Ravenwolf. The interior wood siding are salvaged old growth barn planks, and the ceiling is made of the original 1936 rafters and sheathing. TJ’s painting is hanging above the couch. TJ is native American from the Alaskan tribes of Koyukon Athabaskan and Muscogee Creek. TJ collected all of the natural pigments in the painting from all around Oregon in prayer, and his prayer in painting now graces the Magic Barn. Todji and Gisele have taken on the profession of being Airbnb "Artist Inn Keepers" to help support the cultivation of their artistic practices, and to share their creative work with you. Todji and Gisele produce public art bronze sculpture monuments for US cities which you may already have seen, or that you may see one day, please feel free to take a postcard home and visit their sculpture website.
The Magic Barn is centrally located in one of the most charming and hip neighborhoods in Portland. With the center of both SE Hawthorne and SE Division St within 3 blocks, there is an abundance of restaurants, boutique browsing, grocery stores, neighborhood strolling, and park hiking options within walking distance. See a movie, or just step in to witness the beautiful and iconic McMenamin's Bagdad theater, accompanied by an incredible restaurant/bar/pool hall in the back called the "Back Stage Bar", at SE 37th and Hawthorne. It will give you a feel for classic Portland! We are minutes from Mt Tabor park which has a lovely forest with walking trails sitting upon a dormant volcano, and we are 45 minutes to the spectacular 600 foot tall Multnomah waterfall in the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge scenic area. Division is the new up and coming Southeast neighborhood. With lots of modern architecture, new restaurants and shops you will get a feel for the freshest vibe Portland has to offer. Here is a list to get you started: Restaurants: (The options are endless but here are a few popular favorites!) Serving Food Late - Sapphire Hotel at 50th and Hawthorne, Romantic and sexy atmosphere- great for late night drinks and gourmet bar food. Stumptown Coffee Roasters- 45th and Division, Classic Great Portland Coffee Trinket- One block away on Lincoln and 39th, great for Brunch with their locally sourced eggs!) Harlow- 36th and Hawthorne, Hip and Healthy, great for lunch, or fresh veggie juice. Por Que No- 46th and Hawthorne, Wildly popular Mexican with a great playful decor. (Don’t be intimidated by the line, you order at the counter, and then get a seat and your order will be out in no time) Pok Pok- 32nd and Division, There are literally 11 Thai restaurants in walking distance, but Pok Pok is the best. Began as a food cart, but grew into a Restaurant Empire. Worth the wait. Bollywood Theater- 30th and Division, Indian food small plates. Also along line but worth it! Salt and Straw- 33rd and Division, Food Networks top five ice creams! Super Popular! Lauretta Jeans- 34th and Division, Breathtaking Pies! Tidbit Food Cart Pod, 28th and Division, Fabulous food cart selection, lots of seating, including a beer garden and vintage clothing bus. A truly Portland experience. Hiking: The website of "Friends of the Columbia Gorge" has detailed information about many hikes in the scenic and nearby Columbia River Gorge. It is a 45 minute drive from here to enter the gorge. Below are the names of hikes that we love and recommend. Check the website to find a hike with a distance and fitness level that suits you. For those who are visiting the gorge for the first time, I recommend visiting the most spectacular, and also the most touristicated, 600 foot Multnomah Falls. For those who want a challenging half day hike you can begin at Multnomah Falls and hike a loop called the Franklin Ridge Loop. Multnomah Falls /Franklin Ridge Loop Eagle Creek Angels Rest Bridal Veil Falls Triple Falls Wahkeena Falls Groceries, Pharmacy and Shopping: New Seasons- Local Health Food Store (40th and Hawthorne) Fred Meyers- Local Department/Grocery store (Cesar Chavez and Hawthorne) Rite Aid Pharmacy- Drugstore/pharmacy (Cesar Chavez and Division) Powell’s Books- A smaller version of Portland’s famous Bookstore (37th and Hawthorne) Gold Door- Wonderful Imports from around the world (37th and Hawthorne) Enjoy!
  • The Magic Barn was exactly as described and located in a fun neighborhood. Parking wasn't an issue at all. I did not met the hosts in person but they were very responsive and helpful via text. I was very comfortable at the "barn" and I got a great night's sleep as well.

  • There was a packet waiting for us on the table with all the information we needed to know for our stay. We ran into Tessa and Gisele during our stay and both were very friendly and welcoming. The space is very comfortable, cozy, and clean. And the location is great! Overall, my sister and I really enjoyed our stay here. I will recommend it to others looking for a place to stay in Portland!

  • The Magic Barn is indeed as advertised: Magical! Such a cute and relaxing space that has enough distance from an otherwise fairly busy street to lead to excellent sleeping. The Barn was immaculately clean, the hosts unobtrusive--they didn't seem to mind that we had to be busy to go to a wedding--and Todji's sculptures are really quite marvelous. Our encounter with Gisele in the garden was very pleasant, and both hosts were prompt with text/email communications. Lovely bathroom that never runs out of hot water and very serviceable kitchenette. Even though it was hot during our stay, the screened skylights and high ceiling fan kept us cool. (Oregon drops in temperature at night.)My boyfriend and I keep talking about how we wish we could still be in the Barn, or what a wonderful little house it would make! Location is great: between two main thoroughfares and only a mile to Reed College. Couldn't have asked for anything more! Thank you, Todji and Gisele!!!

  • Staying at Colin and Medina's guest house was my first experience with Airbnb, and it was a great one. The guest house itself is cozy, consisting of a living/sleeping/kitchenette area and a narrow bathroom with a toilet and a little shower. These small spaces are nicely arranged. Outside, the building is flanked by beautifully landscaped front and side gardens. Colin made the check-in process as smooth as it could possibly be, to the point where it felt like we (my girlfriend and I) were simply arriving at home when we showed up. He was very laid-back and gave us plenty of privacy, but was also available to answer questions about getting around town if we were curious about anything. We will definitely be in touch with Colin the next time we visit Portland.

  • We really enjoyed our time at your cozy cottage. It had everything we needed for a week long stay. It is in a great part of town, easy to walk places and parking was no problem. We would definitely recommend it to friends and family who want a unique Portland experience. Thank you Colin and Medina!

  • We loved staying at Colin and Medina's little cottage. They were helpful and accommodating. The cottage is a bit of a tight fit, but it is very well-laid out and completely sufficient for two people. We had a fabulous visit and would stay here again!

  • This little cottage is a great base to explore Portland from! It's a lovely little space and great to have the kitchenette for tea and stashing leftovers. And the neighborhood is terrific. Very close to some really amazing places. We ran into Collin briefly and he was very pleasant.

  • Everything was perfect yet again.

    Duane2015-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time in this little garden oasis. We met Colin on our first day, he was really kind and welcoming, and the space was great, too! Clearly an eye toward efficiency and comfort, the small space was never crowded, we had everything we needed, and we made great use of the patio for picnics and morning quiet. Perfect way to celebrate turning 30, would love to come back and stay, again. Thanks!

Our small (8X12) free-standing studio is light-filled, private and tucked away under the trees. With a comfortable queen-sized bed, microwave, mini-fridge electric kettle and table, you will be cozy here! Please note: The Tiny House does not have its own bathroom. Guests use a shared bathroom just inside the back door of our house (our family has a primary bathroom upstairs, but we use the downstairs bath occasionally. We keep it clean and use it minimally when guests are in the tiny house).
Our tiny house is a delightful retreat. While you do share a bathroom in the house, this outdoor studio will offer you great privacy. The tiny house is set up for you to be able to sleep and make coffee/tea and microwavable meals. There is a mini-fridge for your perishable foods, and microwave and electric kettle. There is a table which you can use for dining and also as your desk. Enjoy sipping a cup of locally roasted coffee (beans provided!) while you enjoy the peaceful trees in our 2/3 acre yard. Our backyard also has a large "pump track" that Joel made, as an enthusiastic mountain biker. Feel free to bring your mountain bikes and ride it! The tiny house is very small so we do not store many things in there, but we do have additional amenities available, including: extra pillows and blankets, extra fans and space heaters, hair dryer, curling iron, clothing iron, yoga mat, extra towels, kitchen utensils, tupperware and more. If there is something you need, just let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate! Please Note: There is no kitchen or plumbing in the tiny house-it is small studio. It works best for guests who plan to eat out or prepare very simple foods with the microwave and mini fridge. We are happy to provide extra plates, silverware, etc. and if you need to wash a dish or two, just let us know and you can pop into our kitchen.
We live in Portland's Lents neighborhood, which is ethnically diverse and not yet gentrified. We are close to some lovely local nature preserves, including Leach Botanical Gardens and Powell Butte. We are also close to freeways, airport, parks and public transit. Please note: We are about 10 miles from downtown Portland and about 3-5 miles from the "hip" neighborhoods in SE Portland that have a lot of walkable attractions. If you have a car it is pretty easy to get around from here, but this is not the ideal neighborhood if you are hoping to walk to Portland's best spots without driving or taking the bus. You can walk to Safeway, Walgreens, and the closest bus stop very easily from here.
  • The hosts, the "tiny house" and the neighborhood were all fantastic! The location was just in the right spot to navigate anywhere easily. The hosts were very accommodating to me and my two year old. Our room was stocked with all sorts of goodies and necessities one might need or have forgotten. The bed cozy and the coffee was great! A perfect oasis in the city.

  • When I arrived at the tiny house I was able to see precisely where the location was as the tiny home is viewable from the street. This was a relief because I have found my destination, but also slightly uncomfortable because anyone driving by can see where I was sleeping for the night on the street and that was a little intimidating getting use to. The grounds are beautiful it's definitely an urban farm or mini farm I should say with chickens and roosters and I even saw some squash in the front yard. The tiny home itself is very comfortable. Once I was inside and had locked all the windows and door I felt relaxed and at peace it was very quiet and I was able to read and enjoy myself. My host we're not home when I arrived but informed me that the keys were on the table and that I could venture in to use the restroom if I needed to. The trust of that made me feel welcome as well. I have nothing negative to write about my experience here and this was my first experience using Airbnb. I do have some suggestions to my house at new Holly which would improve my stay personally and possibly others. I felt a toaster was missing. I love toast in the morning. In the mirror so when I wake up I could look at my face and wash it. I know that we are allowed to use the bathroom inside but there is a comfort of seeing your face in the morning. Lastly I suggested books. Random books of adventure and pleasure I think would be beneficial. Oh goodness me I also forgot I suggested an alarm clock one to use as an alarm in 2 to use to tell time. And if you ever use your phone and forget the charger like I did on this great adventure and only brought the car charger, it would be beneficial so you can wake up on time. :-) aside from this that has a refrigerator tea/coffee everything to make you feel comfortable and Wi-Fi. There is a heater in there and I was quite warm. In the bed is amazing. Thank you so much for my stay.

  • This was a great tiny house in an awesome backyard. It was beautiful waking up with the sun filtering through the carefully chosen curtains.

  • Very cozy and quiet if you don't mind driving a bit to your destinations.

  • Kate made me feel very welcome in her tiny house out back. It is just the right amount of space in my opinion. She was a gracious host, I would recommend staying here.

  • This tiny house is a good price if you are okay for a bit of a drive and the welcoming of chickens in the morning!

NEW MURPHY BED w/ comfy mattress. Great little tiny house in a fantastic neighborhood. It is cozy and modern. It's a tiny, stand alone house with a private bathroom, but no real kitchen.
  • The house is nice, good for single occupancy. The loft is comfortable, but the ladder is rather steep, take care when access. The location is just right, quite but close to shops and restuarants.

  • Perfect location, very cute place. We were there during an unusual cold snap and the place heated up nicely. I think it would be extra-nice when it's warm out and you could enjoy the front porch, too.

  • My friend and I loved our experience at Rick's tiny pink house! Our arrival and entry was seamless, the space was comfortable and as described, and the location couldn't be beat. Highly recommend!

  • We really enjoyed The Little Pink House. Like many of the reviews said, it was right off of Mississippi which had lots of restaurants and shopping but it was also within walking distance from N Williams Ave which had awesome restaurants and Tasty n Sons! The location was also very accessible to the freeway entrance if you are planning on going Downtown or to Washington Park or 23rd. We went to a Trailblazers game at the Moda Center which was very nice because the Little Pink House was in walking distance. Thanks Rick, for a great place to stay!

  • We were here for our fifth anniversary, and did a lot of walking/exploring/eating in Portland. Very cute little place in a great location, clean, completely hassle-free. Neighborhood felt safe. Good restaurants nearby. Rick was communicative prior to our arrival, and although we did not contact him while we were there, made his contact information readily available and invited us to call if desired. Cute landscaping has been done since the pictures posted here were taken. The ladder up to the sleeping area is steep, but there is more than adequate warning on the site (and a reminder at the house); I do think it would be more challenging for taller people because of the overall ceiling height.

  • Our family of 4 had a great stay in the Little Pink House. We loved the location of the house being in a great neighbourhood with so many great places to eat and drink. It was also easy to get down town on the bus. Rick was a very friendly and helpful host and always responded to our enquires very promptly. The house was light and clean. The bed was super comfy! I would definitely recommend it for fellow travellers ( however for a family of four I will say it is squeezy!)

  • Great place! Best location!

  • The pink house was the perfect size for my boyfriend and I!!! We loved sitting on the front steps having our coffee in the morning and admiring the AMAZING garden on the property. The neighborhood is lovely. We could not help ourselves and went to por que no? twice... and blue star donuts. I love old houses so it was also nice to stroll around the side streets to see all the gorgeous homes in the neighborhood.

The place was great, we were welcomed with open arms. Felt very safe leaving my granddaughter in Victoria's care. Strongly recommend the facilities.

Victoria is amazing and completely accommodating. My plans kept changing last minute, and she took it in stride every time. I think she's sincerely just a really kind person that wants to make other people's lives easier.

Jen and Ari's place was great, and conveniently located a short walk from the N. Mississippi neighborhood. Public transit was easy, and there was plenty to do nearby as well. The apartment was clean and spacious, and the fireplace was great on a cold weekend. We didn't meet our hosts in person, but they were very responsive to both messages and a phone call. Check in and check out were extremely easy. Would stay again, maybe with friends to take advantage of the second bedroom!
