  • We really enjoyed staying in Lance's treehouse! Beautiful city and mountain views! Lance was a cordial host- providing local recommendations and a history of the house.

    Peter2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • The place was a gem. It is located on the hills above the city, and you get an unobstructed view all the way to my. Helena and Hood. To be clear to those who rent, the rental is for the entire downstairs area and Lance lives on the second level. Lance was great about communicating and gave us our space to enjoy our stay. He also made coffee for us in the morning and made us feel very welcome! Would definitely recommend.

    John2015-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't have asked for a more beautiful and unique place to stay for our first visit to Portland. Beautiful neighborhood, fascinating house, and wonderful host. Thanks, Lance!

    Benjamin2016-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay! Beautiful room. Lance was very nice and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Would highly recommend!

    Myles2017-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a great experience!! Lance made us feel instantly welcome - there's an air of casual confidence in him that jives perfectly with his EPIC FREAKING TREEHOUSE! I mean, anybody who lives in a treehouse has got to be cool, right? That's definitely the case. Lance was laid back, but ready with a good story, an honest word or just a conscientious action - it made our stay in Portland an easy and memorable one. I also got the impression he genuinely enjoys the Airbnb experience, and seemed generously capable of reciprocating as much or as little interaction as I was able (and/or) willing to put forth. That, for me, is the definition of a consummate host. 10/10 would stay again: thanks, Lance! +also the freakishly cool house and mesmerizing view didn't hurt! :D

    Geordie2015-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lance was a fun guy who lives in an interesting house. He had lots of tips about the best views and stories about things, he was a great host. The house itself was incredible. The views were amazing and the furnishings really brought the whole interior together.

    benjamin2015-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lance's place definitely exceeded our expectations! I highly recommend his home. If the opportunity permits itself I would definitely let Lance make you a cup of coffee and let him share some of his stories with you about him and his friends. My friend and I could not stop laughing.

    Janiero2018-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lance was kind, accommodating and most importantly responsive. He was always available when I messaged him through Airbnb. He also gave us his phone number to text him in case we needed anything. When we got there, he gave us a tour of the house and welcomed us to wine and water. The house is mid-century modern style and has some pretty cool pieces if you are into interior design. The room itself had the most amazing view, as you can tell from the pictures. However, it was definitely a delightful surprise when I woke up in the morning at 7 am, I saw a breathtaking sunrise. The room is perfect for 2 people. We had our own bathroom and towels were provided. You will need a car if you want to stay here as the house is up some winding roads. For a quaint relaxing weekend, I would recommend the tree house! Plus, how many times will you get to say that you stayed in a tree house in Portland.

Unique hand built cob cottage next to lg. pond w water feature. Lg. fenced and gated yard. Gentle, curving space-made from sand, straw, water and earth . Featured in multiple international publications. The floor is also earthen clay with added radiant heat. Beautiful natural light. It's truly a magical place.
It's a curvilinear earthen structure hand sculpted from water, sand, straw, and clay earth. It features a radial roof with a central pagoda-like skylight. When building the Cob, we used reclaimed and natural materials when ever possible. The insulation in the ceiling is made from pulverized reclaimed blue jeans and the floor is made from the same earthen clay. It has a Dutch door, so you can open the top part for additional ventilation. It also has air conditioning available in the warmer months and a radiant heat floor. The bed is a very comfortable double with a memory foam mattress topper. The bathroom for the cottage is in the main house, about 40 steps to the back door. Inside you’ll find a large sitting room and full kitchen as well as your bath with claw foot tub and shower. These spaces are shared with 2 Airbnb rooms in the house. If you find the bath busy, our full bath is available upstairs on the second floor.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store.
  • We really enjoyed the unique little hut by the pond, and walking In the neighborhood. Chris and Jack were very friendly and we quickly found places where our lives intersect. Great place to stay!

    Bonnie2016-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cottage with a lighted pond out back. The cottage had a wood burning stove though not sure if it was functioning. We were there in summer and didn't need it. The cottage also has an A/C unit which was extremely useful. Our first day was 100 degrees. It's on a lovely quiet street and the SE Division neighborhood is just a short walk away. There is a rental garage in the backyard as well so might bump into another family staying there, but we had no trouble at all and we're not disturbed by them.

    Rupert2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • My partner, our 4 month old baby, and I stayed at this adorable cob cottage for one night while visiting Portland. The house is situated on a lovely, quiet street lined with heritage homes, only a few minutes away from cuts stores, cafes and restaurants. The cottage is located in the backyard by a pretty pond and garden. The kitchen, bathroom and sitting area are at the back of the main house, and are shared with one other bnb suite. We loved all the thoughtful touches and the interesting decor. The price was very reasonable, and everything was just as it looked in the photos! We would definitely recommend staying here next time you visit Portland.

    Jaime2018-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great stay. Right between Hawthorne and division. Great neighborhood couldn't ask for a better stay!

    Jordan2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful cottage! Everything was pristine. Heated floors were awesome, and the bed is super comfortable. For the price you couldn't ask for a better spot. I highly recommend staying with Jack and Cris at the Cobb cottage!

    Chree2018-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • They had me at "heated floors and claw foot tub"! This cozy cottage is set in a secluded yard that feels private and peaceful. There are lots of Portlandia quirky touches that delight and entertain the senses! Only drawback - one bathroom shared by three guest rooms. Hope to be back in the summer to hang out by the pond.

    Ilana2018-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute place in an amazing location within walking distance to a ton of great restaurants. Hosts were lovely and would definitely recommend.

    Amy2018-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • To start, I should say that we stayed here before the bathroom and kitchenette became a shared space with another rental on the property. Just as a personal preference, we would not have opted to stay here if it were set up as a communal bathroom, but maybe that's just us. That being said, this backyard oasis was pretty magical and like nothing else we had ever experienced. Such a special space! My wife was dying over what she called the "Hobbit Dutch Door" that is now on her homeowner's wishlist. The property was in a great neighborhood with plenty of parking where we were easily able to walk to brunch and back through the charming streets. We especially enjoyed the resident felines who were oh-so-sweet and loved a good tummy scritchin' (we're suckers for a kitty!) The one thing I will say, if you are a light-sensitive sleeper, a sleeping mask is a must. Due to the unique design of the Cob Cottage, there's a lot of bright light that comes in. This would not dissuade us from staying here again, but my wife was very glad she had remembered to pack hers.

This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. For your comfort, this as a "pet dander free" space. No pets, thanks. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!
  • Cute little home, thanks Andrée!

    Arnau2017-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Artsy and cool place. We loved the space and the loft. Andree was helpful and sweet from the minute we got there. Walking distance from cute areas. We loved woodland coffee shop!

    Andrew2013-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée was a generous and kind host and her space was exactly as listed. High, high recommendation! I would definitely stay here again and enjoy her sweet garden studio. It was very clean and extremely cute, and the only bugs that got in were when we opened up the door (meaning: totally pest-free on arrival, which is better than expected for a space that is literally in the garden!) She also had 2 fans in the space to keep it cool on those hot summer nights. It was private from the main house. Her kitty, which will greet you outside but not come into the studio, is very friendly and soft. Her neighborhood recommendations were on-point and very helpful, and it was a beautiful neighborhood to wander around in and explore. Enjoy!

    Katherine2014-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This space and Andrée are both wonderful! The cabin is rustic, homey, cozy, and intriguing all at the same time. The same could be said for Andrée. She made me feel absolutely welcome, there was no weirdness or disconnect. If there's anything you want to know, about Portland (or anything really) she will gladly pass on what she knows. And the space made me feel like I was back at camp.... but just nicer and for grownups. :) the bed is just.... sigh. It's lofted but it was the best nights sleep I'd had in a long time. Highly recommended!

    Hani2014-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée is fantastic! Extremely welcoming and accommodating. The loft sleeping area is super fun, and the living area is perfect for two people. I didn't cook much here, but the electric stovetop worked out very well when needed! Adorable location in the backyard, and the neighborhood is quite nice--spent quite a bit of time at Woodlawn Coffee!

    Samuel2015-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • This spot was perfect for our stay in Portland. The neighborhood felt very safe and Andree was a great host (super easy to talk to and gave us tons of recommendations). My only problem is my arachnophobia because there were some spiders in the backyard. I just waived my arms around like a lunatic as I walked through the backyard so I didn't face plant into a web. Highly recommend Andree and her studio!

    Doreen2015-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Built in 1926, Andree’s Tiny House is one of the most charming homes we’ve ever stayed in. Andree is an amazing host and took care of our every need, even so far as greeting us a midnight due to a late arrival. 10/10 Highly recommended! We’ll be back to stay again soon. -Ross

With lots of space and light, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, King Memory foam Bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv i, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a king bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.
  • Great location. Great communication with Jason. Had fun walking to local restaurants. Thanks!

    Neil2017-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • First time in Portland and this place was perfect! Located in a beautiful neighborhood, perfect for a leisurely stroll. The room was as described; clean, quaint, and just the right size for comfort. We really appreciated the fireplace and cozy atmosphere. Would love to stay here again on our next trip!

    Nicole2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • This studio is located in a beautiful historic neighborhood within walking distance to great coffee, food and bars. I would stay here again during my next visit to Portland.

    Karina2018-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great. Jason was very quick with his communications. Highly recommended.

    Craig2016-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed in this studio for an extended weekend trip. Everything was exactly as described in the listing. This studio is pretty big for a studio. We loved the charm of an historic building. The fireplace and space heater was enough to keep us warm. The bed was comfy and the kitchen worked out well for us. We really loved the location. Irvington is beautiful. It's far enough from downtown where its quiet and peaceful but there are still great places to eat and drink near by. It's close to public transportation which is really easy to use in Portland. You can easily get downtown or where ever you want to go within the city. We would definitely stay here again.

    Lauren2015-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Decided to go on a last minute road trip to Portland after finishing a stressful week of finals, Jason was quick to respond and give us all the info we needed! The space is just as pictured -- beautiful, clean and tastefully decorated. Highly recommended, and will definitely book again!

    Andrea2016-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Was a cute place and in a good location

    Suzy2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment was perfect for my short visit to Portland. It's in a charming older home in a really lovely neighborhood full of other beautiful historic homes. I walked to nearby coffee shops/ diners in the mornings (there are several within 10-15 minutes) and enjoyed the quiet, tree-lined streets. Getting around with Uber and Lyft was convenient and nothing was too far away. The apartment is no-frills but still cute and clean. I slept well- the bed was comfy and it was quiet at night. Overall, a great option for a single person or couple looking for a good value!

Laurelhurst is an historic old Portland neighborhood with beautiful homes, street trees and a huge park a few blocks away designed by the Olmsted's who designed Central Park in NYC. You will see how homes in Laurelhurst are each very different and unique from craftsmen with large porches to smaller bungalows with beautiful gardens.
  • Sue and Bob are great hosts. It was very nice to stay here, a beautiful space!

    Joe2017-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob's cottage apartment is a fantastic retreat. I loved staying there, and would highly recommend it to anyone hoping to explore Portland who wants a quiet, comfortable, and absolutely beautiful place to stay.

    Theora2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at the Quaint English Cottage Garden apartment exceeded the expectations that I had. My stay was only three nights, but they were a very comfortable three nights. Sue was very patient with my many questions, since I was a first time AirBNB user. The manual contained all of the information I needed, and made making the check-out process very easy. My friend and I enjoyed following the instructions that guided us to the entrance of the apartment. It was like following instructions to a little secret garden. The lights in the garden made arriving to the property at night that much more charming. The gardens were just as impressive during the day! The apartment was very clean and contained everything I needed. Every single thing made me feel very welcomed. I didn't get to meet Sue and Bob, but met Karen the house sitter who was very nice. Snowball provided a few photo opportunities in the garden. The bed was comfortable and I appreciated the fan that was provided, since I enjoy sleeping with white noise. Staying in a piece of Portland history was also something I enjoyed. The location was close to the airport and to other places in Portland that made my visit very enjoyable. The neighborhood felt very safe and was a delight to walk around. If you're looking for a secure place to stay in Portland that has all of the conveniences you could ever need, treat yourself to this little charming piece of Portland history.

  • What is there to say that the previous reviews haven't already said? Bob & Sue are wonderful hosts and they made us feel right at home. They pay attention to all the little details, and the apartment was furnished with plenty of little touches that helped us feel like we never left our house.

    Gordon2017-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The place was fantastic, everything we wanted, great location, beautiful space, very friendly, and def loved the kitchen to make breakfast in, and the washer and dryer to wash our cloths after the hot springs! Sue and Bob were really nice, we would def stay there again.

Everything you need is here at our brand new guesthouse loft: a luxurious, lofted queen bedroom; high ceilings with floods of natural light, a modern kitchen, full bath with heated tile, comfy sleeper sofa for extra guests, and Stumptown Coffee with organic cream. The loft rests at the back of the property, one block from bustling Division St, and short blocks from restaurants, coffeeshops, & the Woodsman Tavern, named “One of America’s Best Bars,” by Esquire Magazine.
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block or two of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Mi Mero Mole, The Woodsman), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.
  • This place is lovely and the neighborhood is great. I would highly recommend.

  • Laurel and Brian's guest house is charming, thoughtfully decorated and in a great location in Portland. It was sparkling clean, has lots of amenities, and is very private. Highly recommended!

  • Beautiful and well thought out. Tons of light and a convenient location for the SE. Parking was no problem. Would stay here again and recommend it to anyone!

  • Laurel and Brian's space was perfect for our 4-day trip to Portland. It's in a great location; close to shops, restaurants, bars, and also a walkable distance to Mt. Tabor. Their guesthouse is spacious, very comfortable, brightly-lit with tons of natural light, and the heated bathroom floor was a definite luxury. Laurel and Brian were very communicative before, and during our stay; they kindly let us drop off our bags way before check-in time, and asked if we needed anything halfway through our trip. Oh, and the Stumptown coffee they provided was a super bonus too. We would definitely stay with them again, and we highly recommend Laurel and Brian's guesthouse.

  • Laurel & Brian's guest houses is in a great location for exploring Division St's many restaurants and shops. We didn't have much time to see all of Portland, but we loved their neighborhood and the surrounding area. We treated ourselves to Good Coffee (lives up to its name), and pastries from Petite Provence every morning. The guesthouse was very well thought out, clean and super comfortable. Much appreciated the cooling system during our stay as the weather was very warm. Honestly can't say enough good things about their place. Would stay here again, and wish we had stayed longer.

  • Laurel and Brian delivered a nice, clean, well appointed and rather hip guest house, it was very much enjoyed. Suggest trying the Fern restaurant just around the corner for breakfast or lunch.

  • This loft is AMAZING! We were so comfortable and happy to come back after a day of eating our way down Division - if you get a chance to stay here you will love ❤️ it!

  • This air bnb was great! Laurel and brain checked a few times to make sure we didn't need anything! They were wonderful hosts and the house was beautiful and in a wonderful location!

Where Bali meets Portland. Come relax in this newly, beautifully designed, private mixed use accommodation. Just five short blocks from Portland's hip N Williams district. A rooftop deck.
I have a total of five rooms, each listed separately in this unique mixed-use building where I also live and work. You will enter just past the Ned Ludd front patio via a private, secure, gated entrance off of MLK at NE Failing street and follow the stairway up to the second level. This is the larger of the three rooms. Each room is newly refurbished and furnished with beautiful, responsibly sourced tropical salvage out of Indonesia and locally re-purposed wood/trim doors and windows. Your private room comes with a window, a wall-mounted flatscreen t.v., small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, free wi-fi an armoire, an ornate sink carved out of stone, down pillows, down comforters, a king-sized posturepedic mattress and zen colored walls that might just make you think you are in... Bali?
NEPO (aka NE Portland) is hip and cool and like so many hip Portland neighborhoods–it is ever-expanding and reinventing itself. New restaurants, shops, boutiques and businesses are popping up all over. Whether you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night while you get out and explore during the day, or you are just looking for a place you can hole up and relax, we've got you covered. The options and amenities you will find here in your little oasis in NEPO are plentiful.
  • This is one of the larger rooms at Timothy's multi-unit airbnb in Northeast Portland. The location on MLK Blvd was quite good -- away from the hustle and bustle of downtown and within walking (or very short driving or ride-hailing) distance of NEPO's funky N. Williams, Alberta St and Mississippi Ave neighborhoods, all of which have that authentic Portlandia vibe (i.e. limitless brunch options). And it's still only about a 15ish-minute drive or Lyft/Uber ride downtown (we paid about $13 one-way). There's also public transit or bike rental options nearby, if that's more your bag. The room itself was nicely appointed with a king-sized bed and a few in-room amenities like a mini-fridge, microwave, sink, and a fan in case it gets a bit warm. The room does face out onto MLK Blvd, which is a pretty busy thoroughfare, although it does die down at night, and we usually sleep with earplugs anyway, so it was a non-issue. One quirk as compared to most of our other airbnb stays: shared restrooms. There are two restrooms and two private shower stalls that are shared with about 4-5 other airbnb rooms. We were a bit wary about this when booking, and although it was never inconvenient as far as access went, we would have liked to see them tended to a bit more regularly to ensure cleanliness. Other than that, it was a great place to stay and we'd certainly consider booking again if we return to Portland in the future.

  • Timothy was a very welcoming host. He let us use his bikes, which was a wonderful way to see the city. The room was very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Our stay in Portland was short but very sweet!

    Kelly2015-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was great

    Tristan2016-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Tim was very easy to contact, though we did have a problem finding the site until we remembered to use the nearby restaurant (which was very interesting, food was amazing - and staff and clients very friendly) for directions - as Tim had told us! Very unique arrangement. More like an apartment building with rooms down a corridor. Room was great, bed huge and comfortable. We shared a bath and shower (sort of dorm like) but they were always available and clean and right across the hall. Had washer and dryer which was a big plus because we were on a long trip and it was time to do the laundry!

    Katharin2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place and easy to check in. Very accommodating with early check in and late departure with a room to store luggage.

    Nathalie2018-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Timothy was a great host. The place is great. The neighbourhood is really cool. Right near a frequent bus stop and a couple books from some really cool streets. The bed was super comfortable and the space worked really well to hang out in and have privacy at the same time. It was excessively hot in Portland but the AC kept us cool all the time. The bikes were a great help to get around. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    Judson2015-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Despite the initial confusion my friends & I had getting to the space, the spaciousness, cleanliness, and minimalist decorating made my stay in NEPO great. There are also three amazing restaurants in close walking proximity. The king size bed was in all honestly more comfortable than any other hotel I've ever been in!

    Phillip2015-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great room (love a king size bed!), spacious, and a good feel. Timothy was a great communicator and very welcoming! Eating at Ned Ludd below was brilliant as well :)

Relaxed + modern one bedroom basement apt. Bright + spacious with a handmade Portland touch. Comfortable for two, it's a great home-base for the traveler wanting to explore PDX! Located in charming Woodlawn neighborhood. Near the park, bars and bus lines.
Handmade by us! We're a craftsman and an interior designer who are not afraid to get our hands dirty. Stay in this remodeled basement where every detail was thought, planned and carefully constructed. We value high-end, conscious design. Our motto is maintain, reclaim and sustain. All of the exposed wood was salvaged from this 100 year old home! We love our house and hope that you do too. It's a great, peaceful place to crash at the end of the day. A plush queen sized bed, a huge doorless walk-in bathroom (ie. divided by a wall), glass walk-in shower and a tiny but efficient kitchen were top priorities when we made this place. The kitchen has dishwasher/fridge/oven stocked with all the pots/pans and plates to make a nice meal at home. Its always a shifting art-installation, so don't be surprised if the art in the listing photos change. We like to collect art and objects during our travels.
We're one block from 2 major bus lines (the 8 goes to downtown) and our neighborhood market, P's & Q's. 3 blocks from Woodlawn park + 5 blocks to our neighborhood hub: breweries, dance hall, coffee shop and restaurants. Woodlawn is a great area and closely located to Alberta Arts District, Mississippi and Kenton.
  • We loved our stay in this super stylish, minimalistic, sparklingly clean basement apartment nestled in a well-established residential neighborhood in NE Portland. I especially appreciated the decor — every detail was thoughtful, beautiful, and well-curated. Every amenity was provided for in the kitchen and bathroom and the mattress, linens, and pillows were that Goldilocks-caliber of “just right.” We never met Anna and Jeremy due to our arrival and departure times, but they were quick to respond to messages, courteous, and communicative. Highly recommended!

    Abby2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Jeremy’s place is simply amazing. Their interior design skills really show! The space was cozy and comfortable and within a short drive from downtown. Definitely worth staying here if visiting Portland!

    Andrew2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very comfortable two nights at Anna and Jeremy's apartment. It is spacious and well appointed. Every toiletry you could possibly need is in the cabinet behind the mirror. There's a full kitchen, full fridge, and french press ready with coffee in the morning. The coffee is good too! Loved the old stereo set up in a nook in the wall. You can tell a lot of thought went into this space. The only downsides were cold concrete floors for bare feet (pack socks) and a couple of creepy crawlies we turfed into the yard, but that is basic basement stuff. I'd write more about all the great details of this space, but I'd be echoing all the other reviews. Stay here if you want to check out the north end or be near the airport. The bus stop is a 1 min walk.

    Valerie2014-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I recently visited Portland to scope out the neighborhoods for our upcoming move in September. We are SO glad we stayed at Anna and Jeremy's place. Not only was the suite gorgeous (!), the neighborhood was such an awesome first experience. There is a lot to love nearby (parks, charming houses, easy access to bus line downtown, and great food-- we recommend checking out the P's & Q's Market down the street! Thanks so much for having us.

    Lauren2015-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful experience and studio! Anna met us upon check in (which she moved up to an earlier time, awesome) and gave us some pointers and tips on the city - so helpful. They studio was amazing, comfortable, and peaceful - would stay there again in a heartbeat! Location is great.

    Dan2016-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Jeremy's place was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed ;)

    Bex2016-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place to stay during our first visit to Portland! Anna and Jeremy have designed and furnished a very sharp, comfortable, and welcoming apartment. They themselves were great hosts, giving us all sorts of tips and suggestions for our time in the city. We'd highly recommend the apartment!

    Chris2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed a couple of nights whilst passing through, which was a shame as we completely fell in love with Anna and Jeremy's home. The basement apartment is absolutely stunning and they really have thought of all the little details to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They both had great suggestions on what to do and where to go and we're very sweet to leave a picnic blanket and note on the beard parks for us one morning. There are some great places for food on the same street, but I would recommend having a car if you want to explore the rest of portland as it was a lot bigger than we expected. We will definitely be staying here again when back in portland, highly recommended! :)

Our private detached garden studio sits in the heart of a quiet residential neighborhood and is a short stroll to top restaurants, food carts, and shopping in hip SE Portland. The space is compact -- about 240sf -- but cozy, bright and a great place to unwind after a day of exploring Portland!
Our cozy studio includes a comfy queen bed, vaulted ceilings, full bathroom, kitchenette, and small sitting area. It's fully detached from the main house, so offers complete privacy. Skylights, french doors, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows provide views of the west hills and flood the room with an abundance of natural light, even on the greyest of drizzly Portland days. It's small --about 240sf-- but the space is well utilized with many amenities such as wireless Bluetooth speaker, Portland maps and guides, and comfy pillows and blankets to make it feel like home. The space is best suited for guests seeking a cozy place to relax and recharge after a day of exploring Portland; It's quite small, so if you're needing more of a "hangout spot" this may not be the best fit. The studio has a full bathroom with shower (no tub). The kitchenette includes a mini fridge, sink, instant hot water, coffee maker, microwave and everything you need for reheating leftovers from the many restaurants and food carts nearby. Complementary tea and coffee are provided along with a long list of restaurant recommendations. There’s a growler available for filling, which you can do at The Imperial Bottle Shop on Division Street and at many local breweries and grocery stores nearby.
We love living in the heart of the Richmond neighborhood! Nestled on a quiet, residential street, we're a short stroll (about 1/3mi) to two main restaurant and retail districts of SE Portland. A 4-block walk brings you to a bus stop that can get you most anywhere else in town. A short walk from the studio brings you to food, shopping and entertainment (to name a few of our favorites): PokPok, Salt & Straw, Ava Gene's, Bollywood Theater; Food Cart pods, Little T Bakery, St Honore; A myriad of boutiques, shops and independent movie theaters on Hawthorne, Clinton and Division streets. You'll likely meet some friendly neighborhood cats during your stay, but due to severe allergies, our studio is pet- and allergen-free. You may also spot our eyepatch-wearing, kung fu-performing neighbor (and good friend) practicing in the street, sometimes alongside his 4yo daughter. He’s a world-renowned martial artist and teacher, is super friendly and adds some true Portland character to our otherwise sleepy neighborhood.
  • Melissa and Brian gifted us the best experience -- they were friendly, helpful, and offered the most beautiful private studio. The location was perfect -- easy to walk to eclectic eateries and a short trip to downtown Portland. The studio was GORGEOUS. I would definitely stay here again!

  • This is a great space in Portland. The location is quiet, with lots of natural light and is well designed. Melissa made sure we had everything that we needed and even left us a special gift to congratulate us on our engagement. It’s only minutes to some restaurants and shops. If you’re coming to Portland, stay here!

    Brett2018-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing Airbnb. Melissa and Brian are fun, helpful, and very generous hosts. The tiny house is immaculate, with everything you could want and a few bonuses (the beautiful, secluded outside space was our favorite place to be!). The location is perfect for walking to lots of delicious restaurants & bars as well as shopping, while the house itself is a quiet little hideaway in a beautiful neighborhood. We had a great time with the tiny house as our home base in Portland, and we would love to return.

  • Great location. A parking pass was provided but we found it very difficult to find parking near the location. Very busy area. Room was tidy, would have liked a microwave. Enjoyed out stay and like the shops nearby that were walking distance!

  • Anastasia’s place was perfect for my boyfriend and I while traveling. We found the neighborhood to be extremely walkable with tons of restaurants and shops. For anything that was a little bit farther, we had no problem getting there from her place. The studio apartment was immaculate and Anastasia is clearly very thoughtful and accommodating. Our flight schedule had changed and Anastasia let us drop off our (many) bags before check in which saved us for the day! I highly recommend staying here. She’s a great communicator with a lovely space.

    Sophie2018-07-12T00:00:00Z

  • Anastasia’s Place is the quintessential Portland stay. Very clean and modern with all of the basic amenities you need. Right on 23rd street and steps to the trolly makes this location central and totally walkable. Anastasia was a joy to communicate with and I would highly recommend her place.

Buckman is a close in SE Portland neighborhood which is an increasingly popular place to live. The apartment is at the eastern end of the neighborhood. There are parks, a picturesque cemetery, good restaurants, wine bars, craft brewing pubs and the Laurelhurst movie theater, all within walking distance. The #15 bus line runs to downtown on the other side of the cemetery (6 blocks). A little further afield (just over a mile) is the Hawthorne district where there are some off beat shops and more places to eat and drink. Downtown is 2 miles away. The apartment is part of a new build and is situated at the rear of the property next to the garden It is one story up (over the garage) and receives a lot of natural light. It is fully self-contained, all appliances are new which makes self-catering very easy. What it lacks in history it more than makes up for in convenience! There is also ample free street parking directly outside the house. Buckman is pretty close to downtown while still having a residential flavor. It also contains a number of agreeable restaurants, wine bars and brewpubs. Everyday shopping needs such as grocery stores are also well served. Additionally it is pretty easy to get to the major freeways for travel purposes. Buses run to downtown and back a few blocks over.
  • This was absolutely the best possible place to stay while in preparation mode for my daughter's wedding. If I'm lucky enough that this lovely, sparkling new & clean studio apartment is available on my visits to Portland in the future, it will be my go-to place for a home-away-from-home. Everything that I needed was provided - GREAT kitchen! TERRIFIC bed! - and Cara and her husband were welcoming hosts. MANY THANKS! Su (Phone number hidden by Airbnb)

    Susan2013-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • OUTSTANDING!!! This was one of the best rentals we ever had! This extremely cozy studio was perfect for my wife and I and our 3month old. Cara & Roger really made us feel welcomed and their hospitality went beyond what we expected when they offered to set up an additional bed for us since we had our son. We are already planning another trip to Portland and will definitely be getting this place again!!

    John & Jessica + Baby Isaac2015-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Cara has been an excellent host. Super communicative with us and the place was spotless clean. We were nicely greeted with complimentary wine at our arrival and several books/magazines about Portland, which we found very useful. Every little detail was taken care of and we will undoubtedly consider this place again next time we return to portland!

    Ivana2015-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Five Stars! The studio apartment is indeed cozy in the best of ways. A perfect blend of hotel and home. The place was clean, fresh and bright like a luxurious hotel suite but with all the thoughtful and practical comforts of home. Within the first few steps you are greeted by a wine and glasses and a welcome note! The owners have clearly invested time in creating a "How To" manual for the studio itself and the neighborhood as well; highlighting the most common TV channels, resetting the wireless router, using the a/c, suggestions of 40+/- restaurants within a half mile walk. There is also an extensive collection of brochures and suggestions of what to do during your stay in Portland nicely presented on the coffee table. The cozy studio was a delight down to every detail. The sheets were clean, pillows fluffed, chairs were comfy and kitchen was well stocked with all the basic tools and then some. Owners provided ground coffee, milk, tea, peanut butter, etc. All the little things that get you going in the morning. Studio location was perfect too! Very accessible to restaurants, little shops, Biketown (bike sharing) and a short drive to downtown, Saturday Market, Laurelhurst Park and Mt. Tabor City Park. We even walked to Voodoo Doughnuts Too. We would definitely stay here again and again as we explore more of Portland.

    Nick2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cara and Roger were awesome hosts! The studio was beautiful and clean. They couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be staying here every time I visit Portland and highly recommend any one else to do the same.

    Eric2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for 3 nights on the spur of the moment. Roger and Cara were the epitome of accommodating. From the nice bottle of wine on our arrival to extending our stay they were very attentive. The suite was incredibly well-appointed and exceeded our expectations. The location is excellent with many coffee shops, stores and restaurants nearby. Crema is the "bomb" and worth more than one visit. We would love to return and would stay here again.

    Ariel2015-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cara's studio apartment! We were scheduled to arrive earlier than the usual checkin, and she was kind, welcoming and let us drop off our things before the day's exploring. The apartment was very clean, calm and had all necessities for a very comfortable stay. The neighborhood was great and felt safe - wonderful shops and restaurants all within a short walking distance. Absolutely would stay here again!!

    Allie2014-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for a week with a roommate during a very intensive dance course. We were up and out early, sometimes back briefly during the day, and studying at night. The convenience of this studio to food stores and public transport, as well as the excellent kitchen facility, made it a perfect lodging. Though located close to main streets, it wasn't noisy. Though I didn't get to meet Cara in person, she was very communicative both before and during our stay, and she responded very promptly to all communications. She and Roger were available to help but at the same time unobtrusive. The studio was very comfortable and had everything we needed to reduce our expenses: kitchen (with almost all the gadgets you'd need) and some basic staples like sugar, olive oil, spices; a large refrigerator; dishwasher; washer-dryer; generous foyer and comfy living space. All the linens and furnishings were beautiful and in good condition. Everything was pretty perfect for what we needed. Thank you!

NOT an easy place to get bored! Parking is easy in this safe neighborhood. Portland's Historic Mississippi District is definitely where you want to stay when visiting the city. SUPER easy to get to other parts of the city from here too!
  • Beautiful home, nice hosts, great location.

  • My girlfriend and I recently stayed here for our mini vacation and had a wonderful time. Both Adam and Natalie were great hosts; whether it was suggesting a cool cafe to go to or local spot to visit, their recommendations were always right on. The location was perfect. Literally a block off of Mississippi Ave, we never went hungry (or thirsty, for that matter). Bottom line, if you get the chance to stay here, take it. You will not regret it.

    Ken2013-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time. The room was clean and bright, the house was nicely decorated, and natalie and adam were wonderful hosts. The house is conveniently located in NE Portland as it's easy to get to from the airport using the MAX. There's also a sweet row of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and stores three minutes away on foot on Mississippi street. Stay here and you won't be disappointed.

    Thomas2014-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our Portland experience was wonderful. We never actually met Adam and Arthur, which felt a bit strange but it was nice that they were respectful of our space. They were kind hosts, giving lots of information prior to our arrival, and chocolate and beer was available - so kind. The neighborhood is wonderful and they're house is very welcoming and adorable! I would definitely come back. The only thing I had a problem with was that our bedroom door didn't seem to lock. Perhaps it did, but I was unsure how to lock it and wasn't able to ask Adam and Arthur (as a Canadian I didn't want to spend high roaming charges phoning them).

  • Wonderful stay, great location, easy to get in, very clean room and a nice touch of hospitality.

  • Natalie and Adam are excellent hosts, and their home couldn't be more charming! It was a perfect "home base" during my stay in Portland.

The bunk room has been created as a nod to the hotel's creation as a safe place for sailors. You'll find the same thing in this space with 18' ceilings- cozy, strong, and comfortable triple bunk beds.
At The Society Hotel, we believe in making every traveler feel authentically connected to our community so they are ready to enjoy our beautiful city from day one. We offer three ways to experience our unique hotel: bunk rooms for the affordable community experience; private rooms with shared bathrooms for comfort without excess; and suites for a bit of affordable luxury. All of our rooms come with plush beds, 10-foot windows, high speed wifi, and a hospitality experience unlike any other.
Old Town is Portland's oldest neighborhood - the original epicenter of Portland, Oregon. It has a colorful history and an equally colorful present! We are the epicenter of Portland's street fashion scene, the nightlife district, as well as a social services haven for those most in need. So expect an eclectic mix from Old Town, and hopefully love it as much as we do!
  • First time in Portland and ended up staying here for the solo part of my trip. The hotel was clean, modern looking and very inviting. The people at the front desk were very kind and had great suggestions! The area is a little sketchy but I never felt like I was in danger. Overall, awesome experience and I would stay here again.

  • Fabulous experience, friendly staff gave me a great recommendations for dinner and how to get on the MAX

    Alyssa2016-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable. I was surprised at how quiet it was with that many bunks in a room. My bunk was cozy and private.

  • Staying in bunk room was like being in a hostel, but with more amenities. The bar/cafe/lobby was nice for socializing, and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. I also appreciated being walking distance from many good restaurants and Powell's bookstore.

  • very friendly hosts. the bed was very comfy and the room was quiet. amenities are superb! the location is just perfect. relly enjoyed the stay!

    Colleen2016-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Felt very comfortable here. The bunk area was very clean and well kept. The quality and condition of the finished surfaces and architecture impressed me for how affordable my stay was. Same goes for the restrooms.

    Kenny2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • I was in town for a girls weekend, but came in a night earlier than the rest of the crew, so I found The Society Hotel on air b&b. Perfect! Just what i was looking for, a no-nonsense place to spend the night. I met my friends the next day and we painted the town and then stayed in a big room all of us together in a space downtown, a more conventional hotel. Next time, I’m suggesting we all stay here. More places to visit, but quieter and more private sleeping arrangements.

A quiet, cozy bedroom & bathroom on the ground floor of a beautiful, modern new home in a verdant, friendly Southeast Portland neighborhood. Enthusiastic greeting by very friendly dogs & cat comes standard!
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE REQUESTING ACCOMMODATION. As a courtesy to our guests, our check-in time is 2:00 pm; however, as we both work weekdays, we cannot have the rooms ready until 5:30 or so. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up. (PLEASE NOTE: This listing highlights the primary guest bedroom available, but for parties of 3 or 4 people, we do have a secondary bedroom that also features a queen-sized bed. If you are making a reservation for two people and you wish to book both bedrooms, PLEASE EXPLICITLY TELL US SO, as the default for two guests is ONE bedroom; for a two-guest reservation, the cost will be the listed room rate + $30/night. All guests share the same bathroom.) There is almost an entire floor available in our newish home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedroom, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room (please note: the first-floor living room is NOT private, as it does not have a ceiling and is the way between the front door of the house and the stairs to the second floor). We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific sandwich shop that's open for breakfast, lunch AND dinner, a pizza joint, a Starbucks, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about two miles south of the trendy Hawthorne district, one mile south of nationally-recognized Division Street, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities. We have a very friendly housecat you will likely meet during your stay, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed for the comfort of allergen-sensitive guests. We also have two friendly dogs who will greet you eagerly upon your arrival, but who otherwise spend their time hanging out with us and don't wander much to the guest floor. Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.
  • The Urban Treehouse was just right for what we needed. The design of the house is beautiful; lots of wood and openness between floors. We arrived jetlagged and hungry; Becca was welcoming and provided good tips about nearby places to eat that were open and tasty. A custom slice and an IPA at the Saint Pizza Lounge was just right. Carlos and Biscuit were lovely hosts as well, sweet critters! At first, I was a little concerned about street noise since the house is about a half block from a fairly main drag. I slept really well both nights, so my initial worries were completely unfounded. Our first morning was rainy, which was a surprise for that this time of year; we were happy to have use of the umbrellas Becca and Brad have guest-ready in the bedroom closet. Very thoughtful. I really liked the refillable dispenser in the shower/tub filled with great smelling shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thank you, Brad and Becca!

    Pam2014-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first AirBnB experience and Brad and Becca made it exceptional! They were very welcoming and helpful with tips on what to see and getting around in Portland. I will definitely continue using AirBnB because of this experience. Thank you Brad and Becca!

  • Access and advance directions were excellent. And easy. The space is inviting, engaging, clean and welcoming.

    Mary Anne2016-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very warm and welcoming! They checked in a few times on us to make sure everything was well.

    Karly2016-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed here for a romantic weekend getaway and thoroughly enjoyed the urban treehouse. Brad and Becca were great hosts and the check-in process was easy. Though the rental is one floor of a three story house, we felt we had plenty of privacy and were made to feel at home. The house is in a darling neighborhood with numerous delicious restaurants and cute Portland bars only blocks away. We would definitely stay here again.

    Sandy2013-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • I thoroughly enjoyed staying my three nights in the Urban Treehouse. It's a great house with a separate floor for guests, including a bedroom, bath and sitting area. The location was great and I could come and go easily. Brad and Becca are available if needed. They are great hosts.

    Gail2014-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Brad & Becca made us feel very welcome in their home. This is a great location near many restaurants and shops. The space was very clean and they had many things that you may need (an iron, umbrellas, etc) and wouldn't be able to bring with you while you're traveling.

  • Such a great place! I loved Sara's tiny home. Great SE location, walking distance to Mount Tabor and Hawthorne Street. Great places to eat! And just a quick drive or bike ride to downtown Portland. It was a perfect place for my husband and I for our weekend getaway.

    Rob2017-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beware of petty upcharges. We thought that we had a great stay at Sara's place until after leaving she charged us extra for a minisule stain on a towel that we were in no way responsible for.

  • Great place to stay! Highly recommend.

    Ryan2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a cute, tiny house! Easy parking, easy in/out, good location! Absolutely enjoyed our stay at Sara's! Such a sweet host!

    Lora2017-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sara's place is one of my favorites. It is a tiny space but not too tiny. Enough space to not feel closed in. The windows allows tons of light in that even when it is rainy there is light. It has everything you need- shower, kitchen, even a bluetooth speaker which makes it a home away from home 100%.

    Nancy2018-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was the absolute best place to stay in Portland. It was my first time using AirBnB and Sara was an excellent host! The tiny home has the perfect hipster feel.

    Logan2018-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the tiny house and its neighborhood! Easy to communicate with Sara. Comfy, pretty and warm. We would love to come back again!!

  • Quaint and cozy just off of a busy SE neighborhood. Tons of fantastic eateries! Pretty much everywhere within a 5 block radius there are fantastic restaurants! Great location. Easy to get around. Sara is nice and was there if we needed anything.

  • Hands down my favorite airbnb ive ever stayed at. Tommy was very helpful and he also suggested places for us to check out. His home is so cozy and clean, just how i like it. I also liked how there was a spot for parking. He was also very accommodating with whatever we needed especially with any amenities that we needed. Overall it is a 5 star rating for me!

    Kathy2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great separate and private apartment. Clean and modern, super cozy. The kitchen is incredible! We had a blast cooking in it and Tommy was super helpful with an early check in. Highly recommend it!

Spacious master bedroom with private bath, entrance & deck; easy access to transportation, walking distance to N Williams, N Mississippi, The Pearl, Rose Quarter/Convention Center, east side amenities, & Emanuel Hospital. All are welcome! airbnb.com/rooms/2291626?s=51
This is a large master suite with accommodations for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay: a Keurig coffee maker, complimentary coffee and tea, a refrigerator, a microwave, dishes, knives, and silverware. The room also has cable TV, Queen size bed, foldout futon sofa, airbed in closet, sitting area & desk. "...the bathroom was unexpectedly awesome with two sinks, and such a large shower with dual heads." Heating and air conditioning is a mini-split which keeps the temperature comfortable and quiet.
Eliot neighborhood is full of popular dining establishments, coffee shops, music venues, parks, and the Matt Dishman community center with in-door swimming pool. This is a great close-in Portland community with access to everything you need. Several places for live music include the Secret Society, White Eagle Saloon, Wonder Ballroom and, of course, the Rose Garden Moda Center.
  • Jere was fantastic! From organising an early check in to helping me pick up my girlfriend at the airport, nothing was too much trouble. The place is beautiful and spotlessly clean, the deck outside is also prefect for outdoor eating or drinking. Definitely one of best air bnb places we've stayed in!

    Ciaran2014-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jere's place was great! The room was incredibly spacious for my friend and I for our girls trip to Portland. The kitchenette was perfect for breakfast and snacks. Her house was very close to great restaurants and near a lot of transportation to the rest of Portland. Jere was incredibly nice and picked is up from the MAX stop when we arrived. She was very responsive and helpful with any of our questions. All in all a great trip! Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Jere!

    Marcia2014-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Set off the road, in a quiet "foot traffic" cul-de-sac, the accommodations were quite nice. The rooms were quite comfortable, and we were left wanting for nothing Despite the very hot weather (unusually hot...), the rooms were cool and comfortable (the owner said that they had geothermal temperature control for the house). We didn't have access to the kitchen (which was made clear before we arrived), but we didn't mind as we were close enough to plenty of good restaurants. The neighborhood itself was quite nice. We had taken our bikes on the train to Portland, so the low traffic and well marked bicycle right-of-ways in the area were greatly appreciated.

    James2015-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jere's home is absolutely beautiful, in a good location, and was so comforting. We were able to meet on the third day I was in Portland and I'm so glad we did! Wonderful advice and good conversation :) I would gladly stay here again!

    Kasia2015-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • The room is clean, cozy, spacious and full of warm atmosphere. Me and my mother really relaxed staying this place. Especially, shower room is extremely clean and comfortable. Can be used without any stress. I could feel how Jere had dedicated to cleanliness and hospitality, from every part of the room. The house is located in north east area, and the downtown of Portland is south west area, so we had to take bus to do the sightseeing and shopping. However, there's a bus stop nearby and the buses come quite often, so it wasn't inconvenient at all. We rather enjoyed the calm neighbor. Also, a big organic supermarket and plenty of nice restaurants, coffee shop are in the walkable distance, which Jere kindly recommend in her handmade guidebook. I enjoyed looking this guidebook, following to her recommendations. We spent 4 days here, surly relaxed. Rally nice room to enjoy the both exciting and calm side of Portland.

    Izumi2015-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend this place. It's very close to downtown, and there is a lot to see around the neighborhood. Jere is a very helpful person. Thanks for the experience!

    Belén2014-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted by Jere and given advice on where to eat and where to shop in the neighbourhood. Our accommodation was large, clean and comfortable and we relished both the privacy and convenience.

    Ann2015-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jere welcomed us into the room and told us about the surrounding area. Incredibly polite and warm. The room will not disappoint and the bathroom will have you coming back. We felt like royalty! We walked to the Williams and Mississippi districts with ease and felt incredibly safe. I would recommend this room and location to everyone.

  • We had a comfortable stay. Robert was out of town so we didn't get a chance to meet him in person, but we were easily able to check ourselves in with the instructions he gave us. The location was a short driving distance from downtown and the suite was just as advertised.

  • This place is a lovely stay. The space is really well designed and we would highly recommend it. Robert was a great host and was really easy to communicate with.

  • Robert's basement studio was perfect for our trip. It's in a great location and had plenty of parking spots available on the street. The space was clean, cozy and just as advertised. And the bed was super comfortable too. I would recommend staying here.

  • Don’t even question it BOOK NOW! I could not have asked for a better experience! The communication with Robert was superb. The location his home is excellent. The space is amazing, very cozy and extremely inviting. We had everything we needed at our fingertips. Robert was extremely easy to reach, responded quickly and when we reached the space everything was exactly as described. Not who only were we impressed by the layout and design of the space but it was stylish, modern and so clean. Robert has an extensive list of movies for viewing, catalogs, brochure and suggestions for nearby places to visit while in the area and the location is simply perfect! Seriously don’t wait to book. Just for it! We will definitely be rebooking ASAP and recommending to all of our friends!

    Kathryn2018-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Robert’s place was located in the most charming neighborhood. The walk to the public transit was short and so pleasant with plenty of houses to admire on your way there. There was a nice area with shops and places to eat nearby and most everything else was accessible via public transit. Robert was so helpful and thought of everything with his welcome packet. Definitely nice to have everything about the space laid out clear and concise. The space itself was absolutely perfect for myself and my boyfriend. Plenty of space, clean, and complete with a nice kitchen. 10/10 would recommend and stay again if we are ever in the area again!

    Monica2018-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • I was really impressed with the cleanliness, the layout, and the amenities provided. The entire place was renovated, and even exceeded my expectations. The host really thought of the minor details, for everything I needed was provided! It was definitely a great place to come back to after a really long day of exploring Portland. This is definitely a gem! Do not hesitate to book.

    Daisy2018-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Robert's place is private, amazingly clean, and fully stocked with everything you need! Private entrance, air/ heater conditioned, full kitchen and a large/ comfy bed. Robert is an excellent communicator and is quick to respond to any questions. He allowed us to drop off our luggage since our plane arrived rather early in the morning and our check-in wasn't until the afternoon. I highly suggest staying at Robert's place if you like being in a safe and quiet neighborhood! Don't question it, just book it!

    Lizette2018-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • You will thoroughly enjoy your stay at Robert's excellent Studio Apartment. It is very modern, sparkling clean with a well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Perfect for a couple or someone travelling on their own. Plenty of space and in a lovely quiet neighborhood. Easy public transport access into the City via No.44 bus, close by. I highly recommend Robert's place. As we say in Australia "it was real beaut".

This 3rd floor loft is located in the N. Williams District, on a main bike route, across the street from a bus stop, close to the street car and light rail. It is an eclectic 900 sqft self contained unit with amazing views on the top floor of a 1900's Victorian. This stretch of Williams Ave has a more industrial feel but we are just a few blocks from eateries & libations. Walk to the Convention Center, Moda Center and the Pearl District.
-The view is amazing. -Efficiency style open kitchen with 2 stove top burners, toaster oven, french press, cookware, full dishware & glassware plus a real fridge with freezer. -comfy queen bed & nice Egyptian cotton sheets -new heating system with Air Conditioning! -2 wifi networks -a slew of information & maps on Portland & surrounding areas such as the Columbia Gorge, Oregon Coast, wine country etc. -Walk to the heart of the Williams District -Walk to the convention Center & Moda -Walk into the Pearl District (20min.)
Building on its reputation for bicycles, beers and brunch, the Williams District has evolved into a dynamic, must-see destination for locals and visitors alike. With its broad array of eateries, breweries, characters, shops and services, the district is a veritable composite of all the best Portland has to offer. The Williams District includes more than 150 businesses and is also defined by its rich cultural history. In the 1940s and ’50s, Williams Avenue was teeming with jazz clubs and speakeasies. Today located just down the street is the historic Billy Webb elks lodge. On a Friday or Saturday night it is not rare to sit on the deck and hear the DJ spinning.
  • Great little loft. Tyra was always available, fortunately we didn't need her. Fantastic experience.

    Carlos2015-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Tyra's loft during 4th of July weekend and greatly enjoyed our experience. Location: The loft is located just outside a very trendy part of Portland. In walking distance is Mississippi Ave, which is a must-see for any Portlandia fans. The Loft: The highlight of the loft is the outdoor decking, with an amazing view overlooking the city. Inside, the loft furnishings are very trendy, and Tyra has many of your daily necessities stocked (coffee, filtered water pitcher, qtips, etc). Host: Tyra was very accessible through airbnb messenger and via texts. In addition, the loft was stocked with a lot of maps, niche tourist guides (craft beer brewery guide) and local magazines which helped us plan our visit. I would highly recommend Tyra's loft for an authentic Portland experience.

    Jamie2016-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Tyra made us feel welcome and gave us all we needed to make our stay comfortable and stress free. Not intrusive but we knew she was there if we needed anything.

    Kevin2015-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment of our arrival we knew we picked the right place. The location was ideal for us but the charm surpassed expectations. The view alone from the private deck made it feel it was ours.

  • Vey pleasant to deal with. Was very easy to communicate with and left info on the neighborhood that was very helpful.

    Barbie2015-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • A comfortable, wonderful value with everything you need. Tyra was an exceptional host who offered tips for the neighborhood, was prompt and attentive but also gave us total privacy. Would highly recommend!

    Megan2017-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem to stay in! We could have stayed in a hotel while visiting Portland, but the prices were so much more than Airbnb and this place looked competitive in what it offered. We loved how cozy the place felt. The little kitchen was perfect. The hot water was awesome, the heater was strong, and we had all the amenities we could have asked for. There were robes which were quite a treat, and we loved the view of the city from the porch. Tyra also provided suggestions for places to eat, and had brochures for us to look through. The surrounding neighborhood is great to explore, with so many great meals nearby. We rented a car and had no trouble finding parking on the street, and everything is only a 10-15 min drive away. There is construction at the moment adjacent to the house, but it is very faint and was never a bother at all. Tyra reached out and informed us beforehand that we would encounter it, but I wouldn't worry about it. And another item to clarify: there is not a TV. But there is very strong internet connection if you need it! Thank you, Tyra!

  • We had the best Portland get-away while staying at Tyra's place. The apartment was in such a perfect location for us to easily zip over to downtown, or to jump on the freeway to go to the wedding we were attending out in the country. Plus, the charming Williams district of restaurants and shops is right up the street. The apartment itself is clean & cozy with every amenity one might want. The pictures do not lie! Of course, our favorite thing about it was the porch with it's spectacular view of the city. It was epic by both day and night. If you stay here, you'd be making a mistake to not plan to at least eat one meal or knock out one bottle of wine while sitting on that porch. And Tyra was so wonderful and responsive to our communication--always ready to provide great neighborhood restaurant suggestions or good info. The keyless entry pad is brilliant and parking is a breeze right in from the house. Highly recommend this great little apartment.

Seen on the TV show "Tiny House Nation", CNN, Food & Wine Magazine, and the NY Post, the 350 sq ft Rustic Modern Tiny House was designed and built by us, your friendly AirBNB hosts. Guests call it "completely charming" and "the perfect urban getaway". Welcome! M+J
For years we've been daydreaming about building a little house one day. Then we finally made it happen - using our own two hands (DIY! The Portland way!) and with the help of some great friends. We had a vision in mind, but a lot of the details came together as we built, based on what materials we had available to us. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room with convertible couch, and bathroom with tiny clawfoot tub. Access the upstairs via STAIRS (not a ladder), where you'll find our loft bedroom with comfortable queen sized bed. Sustainable design is important to us, and the house is constructed and furnished from an eclectic array of reclaimed materials - squirreled away over the years, and now creatively reused and repurposed. See photo captions for a detailed walkthrough of the house. A PARTIAL SNAPSHOT • The trim and shelves are reclaimed from an old shed that used to be on the property. • Teak hardwood flooring, cedar shake siding - salvaged from high-end construction jobs. • The wood-clad windows salvaged from a horse farm in the Oregon countryside. • The kitchenette stove/refrigerator sourced from the Hood River History Museum. Instagram: @rusticmoderntiny
We love our walk/bike friendly N. Williams Ave neighborhood - it's been getting a lot of media attention as one of Portland's hottest neighborhoods. You are one block from the main corridor, bustling with award-winning restaurants, bars, coffee shops, wine bars, bakeries, yoga studios, and indie boutiques - it seems there's something new every week. Sunset Magazine loves its “low-key urban vibe", past guests call our neighborhood "awesome", "amazing" and "full of things to do". Our street has even made an appearance or two on the TV show Portlandia.
  • This was a wonderful place to stay. It was our first time in a tiny home and it was very comfortable even though we're both tall people. The space was cute but also very functional. Easy walking distance to a bunch of eateries. I like that you get a private little outdoor space. We had windows open whenever we were home but it still felt private. I would love to stay there again! My tip: if you get nervous about the prospect of going down the stairs in the middle of the night there is an adorable Himalayan salt lamp in the kitchen area that gives just enough light to see the stairs but doesn't disturb sleep.

    Gigi2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We appreciated having a comfy place that's an easy bus ride to other parts of town but is also in a neighborhood packed with its own good places to eat and drink. The hosts were very communicative and friendly and everything was a cinch. A real deal!

    Jamie2015-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • This tiny house was perfect for me while visiting my son that lives nearby and so cute! Great location with great bars and restaurants in walking distance. Michael and Jenna made check in easy as I arrived very late. Very comfortable bed. As you would expect the loft could be a bit of a challenge for a very tall person to get into but was fine for me. Great variety of coffee brewing options as you would expect in Portland. Will definitely stay again!

    Liz2018-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house is amazing!! If you like quiet, very clean, and wonderful decor, you should stay here. This is the coolest house I have stayed in awhile. The hosts were easy and polite. This house gives you enough privacy that you actually feel like you are in the country yet it is walking distance to a very hip neighborhood with coffee and eclectic stores. kendra

  • Stayed in the tiny house for 2 nights, it was bliss! Great neighborhood, super quiet. Beautifully decorated and surprisingly spacious! 10/10 would recommend

    Eliza2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • This tiny house was great and the neighborhood more than we expected! We love our time there! Jenna and Michael left great instructions and seemed to be easily accessible if we needed anything, but we didn't have to because the house met all our needs. We will definitely go back when we are back in the area.

    Angela2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Convenient and very hip way to experience Portland! Michael and Jenna really care that you enjoy your time in the tiny house -- really thoughtful and everything you need has been provided. Highly recommend that this unique treat!

    Jean2015-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the tiny house! The house was very cozy and clean. It is just a block or so away from a great area to walk around and grab some food or coffee. The neighborhood itself was very quiet and we enjoyed the patio area outside very much as we certainly lucked out on some beautiful weather! All in all a wonderful experience - we would definitely return!

Brand new bed! Brand new walk-in shower! Private entrance, fully private stay. Comfortable, cozy bedroom and bath in the spacious basement of a family home. The basement is pleasant and has high ceilings and concrete floors. Your space is set up with care and intention and cultivated for comfort and need. There are extras like freshly ground coffee, tea, hot chocolate. There is water, dishes, microwave and mini-fridge. Neighborhood is green, friendly and walking distance to Mt. Tabor.
This is like a cross between your own apartment and a room in a house. There is no shared space with us so you have full privacy. But we do live upstairs and you might hear us sometimes but your bedroom and bathroom are fully insulated for sound and warmth. The basement has high ceilings and concrete floors. There are lots of rugs down to make it plush and comfy. There are tapestries leading you down to your room to make the entrance more cozy. Our washer dryer is available if you're staying for three nights or more. The heat works very well and the room is warm and cozy. Central AC in summer. The bedroom has a nice big window with a giant trees outside. There are black out curtains in case you like sleeping in. The closet is roomy and has lots of shelving. The bed is queen size and is very comfortable. Pillows and down comforter also new and comfy. Bedding is cleaned in a new washing machine after every guest of course. If you want to explore Portland on a budget, you can bring your own food and drinks! There is a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker in your room, as well as slippers. The bathroom next to the room is very clean and bright. I take great care with comfort and Décor as I am a designer. Shower is big and brand new. This is in the basement of a family home so you can hear the sounds of our lives sometimes. Other times it is quiet. Besides your room and bathroom, the rest of the large basement is unfinished. The basement has high ceilings and is clean but the floors are concrete. The floors are concrete in your room too but there are plush rugs down. If you book 4 or more days in a row, I will apply a 10% discount after you book.
The neighborhood is very charming, quiet and green. Have a beautiful uphill walk to Mount Tabor (an actual volcano!) and enjoy one of the most gorgeous parks in the city, with a great view of Portland. Walk to Stark Street for coffee, beer and food. 82nd Street boasts some of the most authentic Asian food in the city. It's actually ethnically diverse in this neighborhood which is refreshing.
  • Claudia had so many recommendations already listed on her page for food and things to do, but she also suggested a great Hot Pot place when my boyfriend and I were hungry for Chinese food! The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the little coffee pot in the room was a life-saver. There isn't a shower downstairs so you have to give her a heads up before going upstairs, but she was always accommodating. The neighborhood was cute and quiet and really close to Mt. Tabor and not too far from downtown! You are in the basement, so you can hear footsteps above you but that didn't bother us too much at all. The house was lovely and Claudia was equally as lovely!

    Jackie2016-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • We were very happy with our stay. The bed is super comfortable!!!! There was coffee ready to brew in the morning, water and necessary cutlery available, it was so nice to have a mini fridge available too. Overall a great experience, and highly recommend!

  • Claudia was responsive and helpful in getting me checked in. It was getting dark and she helped me find her place and easily get settled in.

    Melissa2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Claudia was accommodating and nice, especially since I had my 2 dogs along for the journey. Her downstairs is private and cozy. It was a lovely place to crash and cool during the hotter summer days. It was nice to have a private bathroom and she let me use the upstairs shower whenever needed. This house is in a lovely part of town that I wish I lived myself. Super great experience here. :)

    Erin2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancé and I had a good experience here. We didn't spend much time there. We were in the area for business. Nice cozy room.

    Saul2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • A sweet bohemian space! The shower was huge and amazing. Claudia was a great host - responsive and accommodating.

    Danielle2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay here. I really enjoyed all the space that I had to myself. The bedroom is really cozy and comfortable. I appreciated having the fridge down there and access to my own bathroom. Had my dog with me and there is a backyard where he could go to the bathroom. Really nice park nearby. I would recommend staying here. It's a great value.

  • This airbnb was beyond lovely! There was quick communication with Melissa and the space was amazing for our quick one night in Portland. Very easy to find and close to many great coffee shops!

  • Melissa’s place was lovely. Super clean, just as seen in pictures and located in a nice neighborhood. Melissa was very nice and easy to communicate with as well. We had a late flight out at night and she was nice enough to help us store our luggage until we had to leave to the airport. Would definitely stay here again for sure!

    Duc2018-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Studio is cute and open, but still feels cozy. The apartment warms up quick if you come in from the cold. NE Alberta Street is within walking distance which has plenty of places to eat and drink. Melissa was helpful and gave tips on places to eat and there was even a restaurant guide with menus put together on the counter of the studio.

    Michael2018-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • So many thoughtful touches! We enjoyed our stay in this cute and comfy space. No complaints at all!

  • We loved staying at Melissa’s place. We felt cozy and safe in her apartment. She left awesome treats in the fridge for us and we were so thankful! Very nice touches made us feel very at home. The recommended places to eat were great, we only got to try one spot, (beeswing) and it did not disappoint! Thank you again Melissa for such a short and oh so sweet stay!

I'm offering a comfortable clean bedroom in the best neighborhood in Portland. Self check in so late night arrivals are no problem. On all major bus lines. New Seasons market one block away and 20+ restaurants in a 15 block radius. Free street parking. LGBTQ friendly. 3 small dogs live here so if you don't love dogs, this is not the place for you.
I'm offering a bedroom in my four bedroom home on the main floor right next to the shared bathroom. The bed is a comfy queen size. My home has a back porch with a cozy deck for eating breakfast and sipping coffee and a picnic area under the arbor for dinner and relaxing. The dogs can be a bit intense, but Rocky is always down for a head scratch.
Dozens of excellent restaurants within walking distance of the house. Two grocery stores within 4 blocks. Major bus lines will take you downtown in ten minutes. Our neighborhood is quiet and clean in the heart of Portland's biking community. We're also within walking distance to the Aladdin Theater so come see a show while you're here!
  • Kara and her housemates were very accommodating. They welcomed us, gave us a smooth check in and even some ice cream tips! All in all, they have a great location for checking out Portland's SE trendy side and easily taking the bus into downtown. The room was exactly like the pictures and the dogs they have are the cutest things ever. Very well behaved!

  • I really enjoyed staying in Kara's home. It was very clean and cozy. She was very hospitable without being intrusive. Her home is in a great neighborhood and there was lots of street parking. I would definitely stay again.

  • My friend and I stayed in Kara's house for one night and it was great! It was our first time in Portland and Kara gave us amazing recommendations of places to visit (mostly delicious food!). The house is in walking distance to a really cute part of the city. The room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable! I would definitely recommend staying at Kara's if you're visiting Portland.

  • Kara was super welcoming and was there to show me around the house. It felt great to be there and the neighborhood is very well connected. They have bikes for the guests to use and move around. There's even great places to eat at just around the corner. Kara is a pro at Airbnb and I super recommend it.

    Mariana2016-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Small room overlooking back yard. Clean and basic. Shared bathroom, good shower. Near an up and coming neighborhood but we were just in for a night so no time to explore.

    Meredith2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Kara has a really nice house and the little dogs are really cute. They bark at the beginning a little bit but just because they are excised! We borrowed her bikes and took a ride. All in all a really nice Airbnb.

  • Our group stayed at Paul's Funky Pad over night when in Portland to see The Lion King, and it was great (the show AND the pad)! I was with my daughter, son and my daughter's boyfriend (all young adults), and the space was just right for us- we added our 4th just before our trip, and Paul was so welcoming and accommodating. He had an extra bed ready which fit perfectly into the space. There's plenty of room to relax, watch a movie and store overnight bags, and the beds are situated so there's a little privacy. Paul was a great host- very responsive when I needed info, personable, knowledgeable and genuinely seemed to enjoy making our stay a good one. All amenities were there as described, and the location was convenient to downtown. I was pretty confident it would be a good stay based on all the reviews, and it was!

    Lisa2016-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was a great host, showed me around despite arriving at wrong time of the day! Pleasant location, Next to grant park, will book again In future, cheers Paul!

    Milo2016-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I were in Portland for a conference and were glad that we chose to stay with Paul and Carolyn instead of at the dull (and expensive!) conference hotel. Our trip into the center of town each morning was quick and easy (no. 17 bus!) and we loved the neighbourhood - especially the nearby Kennedy School pub/ resturant. The space was perfect - clean, neat and spacious, and Paul and Carolyn were great hosts. We would certainly like to come back!

    Emily2013-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great neighborhood, nice to be across from a park, easy to drive into Portland. Paul was friendly and helpful.

    Debbie2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome! It was our first experience using AirB&B and Paul nailed it. The place is cleaner than some hotels we've stayed in. The attention to detail was fantastic; there's even a small shop of travel toiletries and supplies available. Checking in was easy, finding everything was easy. The place itself is cute. It has slanted ceilings so if you're over 6 feet tall you may have an issue using the toilet (lol). We met and chatted with Paul and he was a very personable, nice guy. Based on our experience here, we are much more comfortable with the AirB&B experience! Thank you Paul! You're awesome man!

    Morgan2017-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • it was a perfect space for a night over and very close to where we need to be. Very close to great restaurants!

    Dibyendu2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was great at communicating from the get-go. The day of check-in, my mom's flight was delayed and the interstate had closed due to an accident and weather getting us in pretty late. Regardless, Paul was happy to accommodate us which made it stress free getting there. There are some awesome restaurants near by and it is really easy getting to and from PDX from his place. I highly recommend staying here!

    Elle2017-01-13T00:00:00Z

Our home is beautifully situated across from a quiet park. We are located just a couple blocks walk to restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and bus stops on trendy Hawthorne and Division streets.
Our one bedroom, 500 square-foot basement apartment is lovingly decorated in the Northwest Style with touches of Scandinavia. The apartment has separate entrance for your privacy. The bedroom has a queen bed with cozy, fluffy featherbed comforters. The living room has a sofa that converts to double bed with bedding provided. We also have a queen futon available for parties over 4 people. It’s a bit tight for 6 people, but it is possible! We have a little kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker with complimentary coffee. The bathroom has a bath/shower combo with all the essentials provided. We have a television that picks up a few stations, but we do not have cable. Our location is ideal for foodies who want to walk to popular restaurants on SE Hawthorne and SE Division streets. We are directly across the street from a park. The Hawthorne bus (#14) is just 1.5 blocks away and will get you downtown within 10 minutes. We also are walking distance to grocery stores, movie theaters, shops, breweries and pubs. Our neighborhood is quiet at night, so we ask that there be no noise after 10:00pm. We are an early-to-bed, early-to-rise family (up at 5:00am) so you may hear us above in the morning.
We are ideally situated between the popular Hawthorne and Division streets. We are 2.5 blocks from the nearest bus stop and are walking distance to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters. Best of all we are located right across the street from a park. There is ample parking as well.
  • This is a quiet, comfortable space and is as described. The bed is large and you get a great night's sleep. The location is prime for accessing the Hawthorne district of Portland which is cool, colorful and quirky. Great restaurants! The neighborhood is family friend with s Park across the street. Jennifer provided lovely bath products. We used the very convenient washer and dryer. Great spot!

  • Great place! I have to admit I booked this place because of the tub shot on the profile...and it was AMAZING! You know that feeling when your knees and chest are underwater, you get it here. But seriously aside from the amazing tub this place is great! Super clean and very homey. It is in a nice little neighborhood and only a few minutes from the bus line that will take your right into downtown. We parked at the house and walked or used mass-transit to do everything (loved that!)

The neighborhood is perfectly Portland across from a lush, green park. Space is cozy and quiet. • Ed and Sari's place was quiet, private, and beautiful. The amenities were amazing and so was the location. The neighborhood was gorgeous to stroll in with an easy walk to restaurants and a supermarket. We loved our stay, and we would stay here again.

  • Great little place near the heart of the city.

    Berk2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great Place! Easy on street parking. Short walking distance to food. Has everything you need inside including a washer and dryer in the unit. Highly Recommend!

  • My wife and I along with our 14 month old stayed four nights in the Hawthorne Wisteria Retreat and it was wonderful! The studio is as advertised and was clean upon arrival. The kitchen and bathroom are well stocked and the queen bed is comfortable. This unit is situated to the side/back of the main house and is very private. We rented bicycles and a trailer to tow the little in and there was plenty of room in the courtyard to park them at night. The neighborhood is gorgeous, quite and within walking distance to many restaurants, shops and breweries. We are also avid runners and very much enjoyed serene runs in the neighborhood and adjoining neighborhoods. We had the pleasure of meeting both Ed and Sari and they were very welcoming. We are already looking forward to our next Portland adventure and will definitely stay at here again!

  • Great part of town, and within very reasonable distances of most places. Very cute spot and you practically have your own entrance.

  • We really lucked out with this location and host. The listing is exactly as described and the hosts are very kind people. I made an overnight delivery to the residence during my 5 night stay and UPS delivered the package many days late, after I already left. The hosts were so thoughtful and trust-worthy in helping me resolve the debacle.

    Lela2016-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great neighborhood and place to stay. As advertised and a cozy stay for two.

    Deborah2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend to everyone. Ed and Sari have a well equipped facility and it so great that it comes with a washer and dryer! The location is a lovely suburb that felt safe and homely and an easy and quick transit to the city Center. The area is also very close to shopping centres and great food and coffee places are walking distance, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to have the opportunity to stay with Ed and Sari again

  • Roland was an incredibly nice and friendly host! He had a pool in the backyard and I had a nice evening relaxing in the pool after a long day. His place is located SUPER close to Division st. where there is a lot happening. When I was leaving, I had an extremely tight schedule and was not sure if I would make my flight, so Roland was nice enough to drive me there! Really nice person and will definitely stay with him again, next time I'm in Portland.

    Jay2015-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Roland's home is charming and comfortable. The loft space is full of light and fresh air from skylights and a sliding door onto a small balcony. The bed is comfy and the bathroom spotless. I enjoyed his lovely porch and front yard in idle moments. Roland himself is very accommodating, enjoyable to talk to, and eager to provide a pleasant stay.

    Pierre2015-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Roland was such a great host!! He was there when I needed him, but otherwise our 2 schedules rarely intersected. The room was spacious and really fun to get up to - on this cool, kinda narrow, spiral staircase. He obviously put a lot of time into fixing it up. The bed was super comfortable. There are maps of the area. There's a fridge and microwave. There's a super cool bath with jets too. A special touch I liked was the mug for water - when brushing teeth. The temperature of the room was great - and could easily be adjusted - with opening doors, fans, and an A/C unit. I liked to run ceiling fan - but it didn't get too hot. There's a cute little cat, Little who slowly warmed up to me. She's supposedly a mean cat, and she let me pet her one time. That was all I was allotted. My only regret - nothing to do with room - is I should have rented a car. I relied on Lyft and Uber and it got very expensive quickly. If you're coming for more than a day or so - highly recommend you rent a car at airport. I would definitely stay here again. All in all - very pleasant experience. Thank you Roland!

    Clyde2015-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great host in a good location. Recommended!

    Scott2018-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • It's a nice space--up a short flight on a helix staircase to a spacious loft, and Roland is a great host. Parking is plentiful, and it's walking distance from Division St and public transit.

    Anil2018-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The description is accurate, the location is great, and Roland is a great host and delightful to talk to. I don't think I could've asked for better this trip.

    James2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Roland was a great host. He was so attentive and helpful. The room was clean and just as described. He gave me tips to make my trip in Portland more enjoyable. It was so nice of him!

Magic Barn, circa 1936, former sculpture studio restored by community artists with old growth barn wood, up-cycled furnishings, kitchen, claw foot bath, baby amenities, with a sculpture garden. Centrally located in the heart of a charming restaurant and boutique district; 3 blocks to both SE Hawthorne and Division St. 15 minutes to both the airport and downtown, there are 4 bus stops and rental bikes within 3 blocks, and ample street parking on our block. Natural cleaning products only.
Built with Love! Cannabis is legal in Oregon. You are welcome to responsibly smoke tobacco and cannabis outside only. There are many dispensaries within walking distance. We are permitted by the city of Portland to host ten guests at the Magic Barn and The Magic House which are adjacent. If you are a group of more than two, please send us an inquiry to see if we can accommodate the needs of your group. Family amenities are available upon request: portable crib, baby bath, high chair, etc. From 2000 to 2015 the Magic Barn was Todji's sculpture studio. Most of the sculptures in the sculpture garden were designed right here and are exhibited for everyone to experience. When Todji first moved into the main house as a renter, the Magic Barn was a crooked shed with broken windows, no electricity, water or heat and was filled with trash. Todji improved it and then purchased the property in 2004 when banks were giving loans to anybody, including self-employed emerging artists. Todji rented rooms to other artists while restoring the old house for fifteen years, while building a career as a fine art sculptor. During the summer of 2015 Todji designed and built the Magic Barn with the talented carpenters and fine art painters Theo Holdt and TJ Ravenwolf. The interior wood siding are salvaged old growth barn planks, and the ceiling is made of the original 1936 rafters and sheathing. Look at the outside walls to see the twist in the structure! TJ’s painting is hanging above the couch. TJ is native American from the Alaskan tribes of Koyukon Athabaskan and Muscogee Creek. TJ collected all of the natural pigments in the painting from areas around Oregon in prayer, and his prayer in painting now graces the Magic Barn. Todji and Gisele produce public art bronze sculpture monuments for US cities which you may already have seen, or that you may see one day. We employ local artists to do the cleaning and maintenance work at The Magic Barn and Magic House. Thank you for taking the time to read our story!
The Magic Barn is centrally located in one of the most charming and hip neighborhoods in Portland. With the center of both SE Hawthorne and SE Division St within 3 blocks, there is an abundance of restaurants, boutique browsing, grocery stores, neighborhood strolling, and park hiking options within walking distance. See a movie, or just step in to witness the beautiful and iconic McMenamin's Bagdad theater, accompanied by an incredible restaurant/bar/pool hall in the back called the "Back Stage Bar", at SE 37th and Hawthorne. It will give you a feel for classic Portland! We are minutes from Mt Tabor park which has a lovely forest with walking trails sitting upon a dormant volcano, and we are 45 minutes to the spectacular 600 foot tall Multnomah waterfall in the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge scenic area. Division is the new up and coming Southeast neighborhood. With lots of modern architecture, new restaurants and shops you will get a feel for the freshest vibe Portland has to offer. Here is a list to get you started: Restaurants: (The options are endless but here are a few popular favorites!) Serving Food Late - Sapphire Hotel at 50th and Hawthorne, Romantic and sexy atmosphere- great for late night drinks and gourmet bar food. Stumptown Coffee Roasters- 45th and Division, Classic Great Portland Coffee Trinket- One block away on Lincoln and 39th, great for Brunch with their locally sourced eggs!) Harlow- 36th and Hawthorne, Hip and Healthy, great for lunch, or fresh veggie juice. Por Que No- 46th and Hawthorne, Wildly popular Mexican with a great playful decor. (Don’t be intimidated by the line, you order at the counter, and then get a seat and your order will be out in no time) Pok Pok- 32nd and Division, There are literally 11 Thai restaurants in walking distance, but Pok Pok is the best. Began as a food cart, but grew into a Restaurant Empire. Worth the wait. Bollywood Theater- 30th and Division, Indian food small plates. Also along line but worth it! Salt and Straw- 33rd and Division, Food Networks top five ice creams! Super Popular! Lauretta Jeans- 34th and Division, Breathtaking Pies! Tidbit Food Cart Pod, 28th and Division, Fabulous food cart selection, lots of seating, including a beer garden and vintage clothing bus. A truly Portland experience. Hiking: The website of "Friends of the Columbia Gorge" has detailed information about many hikes in the scenic and nearby Columbia River Gorge. It is a 45 minute drive from here to enter the gorge. Below are the names of hikes that we love and recommend. Check the website to find a hike with a distance and fitness level that suits you. For those who are visiting the gorge for the first time, I recommend visiting the most spectacular, and also the most touristicated, 600 foot Multnomah Falls. For those who want a challenging half day hike you can begin at Multnomah Falls and hike a loop called the Franklin Ridge Loop. Multnomah Falls /Franklin Ridge Loop Eagle Creek Angels Rest Bridal Veil Falls Triple Falls Wahkeena Falls Groceries, Pharmacy and Shopping: New Seasons- Local Health Food Store (40th and Hawthorne) Fred Meyers- Local Department/Grocery store (Cesar Chavez and Hawthorne) Rite Aid Pharmacy- Drugstore/pharmacy (Cesar Chavez and Division) Powell’s Books- A smaller version of Portland’s famous Bookstore (37th and Hawthorne) Gold Door- Wonderful Imports from around the world (37th and Hawthorne) Enjoy!
  • I could not have asked for a more perfect place to get away. It felt as if I was far away in a log cabin deep in the woods. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the fireplace was magnificent. It was in the perfect location to groceries, shops and restaurants. Hobie was super accommodating and responded instantly to all my queries. I will be back!

  • The Magic Barn was even more lovely in person than the pictures suggested! If we had a studio like this, we might live in it more than the house. :D Such a calming, clean and creative atmosphere. It was a whirlwind visit and we wish we'd had more time to be in that space, but we greatly enjoyed the wonderful happy plants and inspiring art (inside and out). We were very grateful for the air-con unit to help us cool down and sleep (Portland was in the midst of a record-breaking heatwave!) and both the bed and floor mattress were very comfortable (as was watching the moon through the trees via the artistic skylights). We were continually delighted by discovering artistic details like the claw feet on the wonderful bathtub, the lovely, elegant fabrics everywhere (even the shower curtain!), the gorgeous pottery plates and cups, the beautiful furnace (if only it hadn't been so hot out!) and the amazing water heater cover that was an art piece all itself. The sculptures have to be seen in person to be truly appreciated too - amazing and inspiring! The location was central and convenient (tip: get Uber to meet you just around the closest corner as the street can be busy - though you forget that as soon as you enter the Barn) and we hope to visit again - and really get to relax in that lovely space - soon.

    Gypsy2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed one night in the Magic Barn at the end of a road trip and loved it! The suite is beautiful and clean. It was easy to find and there is free street parking around the corner on a side street. The bed was very comfy. We wished we had spent more than one night so we could use the cute kitchen (ate fantastic food out instead). The community around the barn was our favorite part of Portland - fun, vibrant, eclectic, great food, and lots to see. The only downside was the barn is off a main street so we could hear some street traffic at night- not bad and it is a city experience. Overall fantastic! We would stay here again

    Rachel2015-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean, super beautiful and truly a unique place! Can’t wait to come back and spend a few more days there! Loved all the unique decorations and and the beautiful plant life inside the magic barn!

    Artem2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great! Pretty easy to find. Parking on the side street was plentiful. Loved the space. They have done an amazing job with it. Central location was convenient for walking to great food and shopping. Close enough to downtown. And the art is awesome to check out!

    Patrick2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Magic Barn. It was such a wonderful oasis in the city and close to everything. The barn and gardens were so nice we didn't want to leave to go elsewhere.

  • Best airbnb experience I ever had!

  • We absolutely loved the magic barn. It is a wonderful space to be in. High ceilings, great furniture. There are wonderful teas in the kitchen. Todji, Gisele and Tessa made us feel really welcome. We would definitely stay there again.

There is also a bus to other neighborhoods and downtown. His studio is open, bright and clean and true to the pictures. Definitely recommend staying here!

  • Ronald was an excellent host. The suite was very nicely decorated and equipped with everything you'd need including detergent/softener for the washer and dryer! The surrounding area had lots to do and getting on and off the I-5 was simple and quick. All together a great time in Portland with Ron's place as home base.

  • Had an awesome time here, the location was definitely amazing. Walking to Mississippi Ave is by far the best way to get around. The place itself was awesome. We enjoyed our stay, and would definitely stay here again.

Accent chairs for lounging. Common area/workshop space is available for storage and gear, large capacity front-loading washer/dryer, & TV ( ROKU-Netflix/antenna HDTV).
Inner SE Portland is an established older mixed use residential urban neighborhood with narrow streets, sidewalks, single family houses, apartments and schools. The main corridor -Division Street- has been experiencing moderate retail and service re-development which has energized the neighborhood with a wide range of restaurants and food-cart vendors as well as natural food markets and coops, and boutiques. Overall livability is excellent as public transport and bike lanes are accessible and convenient. In summary, there is: public transportation, retail, restaurants, markets, bakeries, parks, rose gardens, nightlife, theaters, and live entertainment within walking distance and/or a few minutes ride.
  • We loved everything about our stay at Kurt and Nathalie's studio! The hosts were warm, friendly, and communicated to make sure we were comfortable and that we had everything we needed. The studio was really beautiful! Bright, clean, and relaxing. Public transportation was close by and easy to navigate and the neighborhood was a lot of fun to explore on foot. Tons of great food and drinks nearby! I would highly recommend staying here, we really enjoyed it!

    Rebecca2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was a clean, quiet and cozy spot in a good location. Kurt and Nathalie left detailed instructions inside the studio and were very easy to get in touch with. The refrigerator and pantry had the essentials: milk, eggs, butter, coffee. I would definitely stay here again.

    Dana2017-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage could be featured in a magazine it is so nicely designed and decorated. The light, airiness, amenities, garden, and location--close in to great restaurants and walkable neighborhoods--made it one of the best Air BnB's we've stayed in. Plus the hosts are super nice.

    Kathleen2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time staying in SE Portland! The studio was perfect for a weekend getaway for two, and had lots of special touches, like fresh eggs and bagels in the mini fridge, umbrellas, coffee and a french press, cozy pillows, candles, and so much more! If you are looking to explore a cool Portland neighborhood, the location of this studio is perfect. Division Street is less than a block away, and we were able to walk everywhere. Great restaurants, bars, and shops were literally only minutes away, as well as a cool food cart pavilion (waffle sandwich, anyone?!?). And Myrna is pretty much the sweetest dog ever. Thank you Nathalie, Kurt, and Myrna for a great weekend!

    Lisa2015-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Their place is at a great location very close to various restaurants. For example, Pok Pok and Salt & Straw are within a walking distance. 10 mins bus ride from the downtown, too. (Use #4 bus. A bus stop is within 100 ft. of their place). The place is so clean and pretty. A very warm atmosphere. Loved their coffee mugs. If you are a woman, it is tough to beat their place in terms of ambiance, I believe. Highly recommended!

    Johnny2017-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I a stayed at Kurt and Nathalie's for 4 nights and agreed that this was by far the best Airbnb we have stayed in. We were greeted by Kurt who immediately gave us some local suggestions and made sure we had everything we needed to start our stay. The apartment is in a great location- easily walkable to restaurants and bars and quiet in the evenings. The apartment came fully stocked with snacks and light breakfast essentials which we enjoyed each morning. While maintaining total privacy, Kurt and Nathalie were easily reached and incredibly friendly. We absolutely recommend their apartment!

This bright studio in the heart of Portland's historic Irvington neighborhood is not to be missed. Tree lined streets with big beautiful homes nestled in the heart of North East Portland. Comes with a full kitchen, a private bathroom, Wifi, cable tv, and a platform Full Bed with access to a hot tub in the back yard! Plus! Plenty of free street parking in front of our home if you have rented a car. A home for every travelers needs.
Arts-and-crafts architecture, handmade redwood tables, and a minimal but comfortable style give this bright studio a true Portland feeling. We always keep the kitchen and the bathroom stocked with the essentials. There is a table with high chairs in the kitchen, perfect for eating a home cooked meal. The Full bed lies under a North facing window, letting in lots of light throughout the day. The apartment is on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen. After a long day out on the town, you’ll come home to an always ready hot tub in the backyard, a plush full bed, a big TV, and blazingly fast Wi-Fi.
  • This place was great, really felt like home! We didn't ever meet Jason, but everything was smooth as far as check in/out. Very easy and cozy home to stay in, everything you need is there.

    Grace2016-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • The air bnb was in a great location in Irvington. It was clean and nice but I think for the price I could have found something better, the walls were a bit thin.

    Kalyn2016-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, loved the hot tub! Gorgeous neighborhood. Bed is comfortable, the place was very clean. Centrally located, very nice walking. Someone else was using the hot tub when we weren't there, I'm not sure if Jason + Hannah are aware of this (maybe it's them). This didn't bother us, but whoever used it left the jets on and didn't put the top back on correctly, and we didn't want to be blamed for that but had no control over it.

    Tara2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Loved staying here - the location is prime and the hot tub was the perfect touch. And the extra cherry on top - Dr. Bronner’s soap! Communication was great and check in was easy. Thanks for the great hospitality.

  • This charming stufio proved to be just how the pictures showed, very homey and comfortable. Safe area! Close to anything you may need, grocery store, restaurants, bars. Etc etc. Very clean and quiet :) Would 100% recommend!

  • Jason was a wonderful host. He lives on the third floor above the studio and was on-site when we checked in. He offered us bikes for $10 (along with a lock and helmet) and gave us detailed suggestions of all the great restaurants, pubs, breweries and shops nearby, and the best streets to take to get there on bikes. It is clear that Jason loves Portland, and in particular this area of Portland, and is grateful for the opportunity to share his love with travelers. And all the places we visited on his recommendation were indeed great! The studio was just as it looked in the photos: clean, cute and comfortable. The bed was cozy, the kitchen was well stocked and most importantly, the hot-tub was blazing hot and easily accessible in the backyard. There is a big TV and fast internet for those who want to be connected. An overall great place to stay if you want to explore Northeast Portland, Mississippi Street and the Alberta Arts District on bicycles or by car, as there seemed to be ample parking as well.

Nestled in the private backyard of our family home, a neighborhood hub. The round, rustic, romantic MudHut hides in a secret garden overlooking the St. Johns bridge and sparkling river, near Cathedral Park, Forest Park, downtown St. Johns, canoe and hiking trails... Firepit, permaculture gardens, loaner bikes, community life, view!
Our hut was handbuilt by family, friends, and community with great love and serves as a guesthouse, homeschool hut, sauna and sanctuary. Wood-heated and candle-lit, it's a tranquil, rustic sleeping space. I recommend staying two nights for an immersive experience in the relaxing atmosphere.
We're in St. Johns, Portland's northern-most neighborhood and a small town of its own with a strong community identity here. Many families here trace their roots back to James John, the pioneer founder of St. Johns who is memorialized all over the neighborhood. Downtown St. Johns is a few blocks away, with plenty of restaurants (Thai, vegan, soulfood, chinese, pub grub, pizza, deli, breakfast, coffee & gelato), an old movie theater and shopping (lots of vintage). Cathedral Park, three blocks away, is gorgeous and photogenic with access to the Willamette River and the awesome overhead presence of the gothic St. Johns Bridge that you can see from the hut. We're also close to a lot of natural areas for urban hiking and paddling. Forest Park, full of trails and old growth forest, is right across the bridge. Just north of here is Kelley Point Park, the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers; Smith and Bybee Lakes, a wetlands for birding and paddling; and Sauvie Island, with beaches, farms, nurseries, hiking, fishing, & birding. We're on the Pacific migratory fly-way, so lots of raptor action around here. Bald eagles, peregrine falcons and hawks swoop by regularly.
  • The experience was absolutely perfect, and Ivy was an outstanding host.

  • I had a great stay with Ivy that I won't soon forget! Communication with Ivy was super straightforward and easy. The MudHut was a great experience and is only the beginning of Ivy's wonderful grounds. Wish I would have had more time to enjoy it all. Great spot and would definitely stay again if I'm in Portland.

  • Ivy and C are warm and welcoming hosts. Their space is magical. The hut was gorgeous, cozy, and very comfortable. The grounds are breathtaking and full of fruit trees. It's a magical atmosphere filled with a ton of love.

  • My daughter and I were returning for the second time to the mud hut after staying there in May. It was lovely to be back! We enjoyed lighting the candles in the mud hut in the evenings and relaxing into the magical ambience of the space. Ivy invited us to share a meal with her and her sons the night before we left. It was a wonderful evening, and the food was delicious. My daughter and I enjoyed munching on raspberries from the garden, and hanging out with chickens in the outside living room. It was hot weather, and I felt lucky to be out in the open air in the outside kitchen making our meals. A lovely time.

  • Ivy was very welcoming and kind. The mud hut and the surrounding land are a sweet sanctuary to relax/ recharge in. A truly unique and special place where you can feel the love that went into creating it. I enjoyed exploring the food in the area and Cathedral Park, and it was also very easy to get in and out of the neighborhood to see more parts of Portland. The photos and description are accurate and exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort!

  • This place is awesome! The mud hut is a really cozy place to stay, and has everything you need (especially when it's a little chilly outside). Ivy was incredibly accommodating, and is willing to work with you to make your stay more personal. Plus, they make great home brews! Even though I live in Portland, I may just come back once and a while just to relax and drink ginger beer. Thanks again!

  • Truly beautiful and cozy place!

  • How delightful to nest for a night in the mud hut! It's exactly as pictured--a cozy retreat in a thriving garden. And Ivy was a wonderful host, welcoming me warmly, introducing me to the chickens, letting me in on her kombucha-brewing process (hibiscus & ginger!), and giving tips about bus routes, local cafes, and events in the neighborhood. Potato the cat was a charmer. Overall, awesome!

My stay here at the Rainbow house was just lovely. I was a little tired when I arrived but I had my own parking space out front awaiting me and had a warm greeting and overview upon check in. There was a nice little display with all the house info you needed including wifi info and even a breakfast menu! (I unfortunately had to leave the next morning so didn't take advantage but i appreciated the touch) The room was spacious and perfect for my early night in. I was able to edit my pics from the day in a nice warm bed while catching up on some tv she had there in the room. Would definitely recommend. Thanks Victoria!

We had an amazing stay at this cozy, well-designed abode right in the heart of the arts district. We were so pleased with all of Penelope's efforts (loaning us a pack and play for our baby), list of worthy neighborhood eats, and greeting us with a bottle of wine!!! awesome experience:)

Our host was welcoming when we arrived and introduced us to a fabulously renovated private 1- bedroom apartment with every detail to insure comfort for guests. Although on the lower level, the space still has plenty of light and a well furnished contemporary style. A fully appliances kitchen, bath amenities, comfortable living/dining and bedroom areas and use of washer/dryer facilities, along with detailed instructions on living in the space, made for a great home away from home. The host notebook helped introduce the home and the neighborhood amenities. Clearly, the host takes great pride in offering a clean, comfortable, safe and beautiful accommodation. We would definitely stay again!
