  • We enjoyed our stay in Lance's unique home, especially the spectacular views. Lance welcomed us warmly and gave us a tour, explaining the history of his home. It served as a great base for exploring Portland.

    Libby2015-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • We felt a bit awkward the first night with some of the stories Lance told about previous guests. The second night at 7 PM we came back to a quiet house we thought was empty. After half an hour we hear loud moans and yelling. We packed and left immediately. After AirBNB mediation we were provided with more context regarding our concerns. The Saul Zaik Treehouse is as advertised- an amazing structure with breath taking views. It is well decorated and clean.

  • A wonderful stay, breathtaking views of Portland, Lance was an excellent host. Get up early to see the sunrise over Portland!! Simply amazing.

    Katherine2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Treehouse was a wonderful end to an adventurous honeymoon. Lance was a wonderful host, interesting to talk to but not intrusive into the guest's space. Bukowski the cat was just as welcoming as Lance himself! I loved the clean modern feel of the decor. It accentuated the unique architecture and the incredible view which are of course the highlights of this home. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful, unique place with us!

  • Great spot overlooking the city. Amazing host with an equally amazing cat.

  • A truly wonderful experience nestled up on high. Great communication by Lance from our initial booking through to updates on deer sightings whilst we were there. Made to feel right at home as soon as we walked through the door. Helpful suggestions for local activities and places to eat in the area. Just simply the most magical treehouse you'll ever stay in!

    Jo2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • My first visit to Portland was made unforgettable with a two-night stay at Lance's Saul Zaik Treehouse. Waking up to that amazing view is a humbling beauty everyone must experience. It's true, you WILL have withdraws. Lance is a wonderful host and efficient with communication. He was flexible when I inquired an earlier check-in and texted me his address for further confirmation. The drive to the treehouse is smooth with beautiful views! There is easy parking located across the street from the treehouse. Lance greeted us at the door and kindly helped us with our bags down to our room. The guest room and downstairs loft area is simply perfect with the right amount of privacy. He politely let us get settled and later suggested some good restaurants when we were ready to go out. Lance was genuine to make us feel at home. He made french press in the morning and texted when it was ready. I truly felt at home with my first airbnb thanks to Lance. I would definitely stay again.

  • Lance was a great host! He communicated via text and email to make sure we were able to check in seamlessly. Alicia and i became fast friends with his cat too. The views are unbelievable. A must rent

Unique hand built cob cottage next to lg. pond w water feature. Lg. fenced and gated yard. Gentle, curving space-made from sand, straw, water and earth . Featured in multiple international publications. The floor is also earthen clay with added radiant heat. Beautiful natural light. It's truly a magical place.
It's a curvilinear earthen structure hand sculpted from water, sand, straw, and clay earth. It features a radial roof with a central pagoda-like skylight. When building the Cob, we used reclaimed and natural materials when ever possible. The insulation in the ceiling is made from pulverized reclaimed blue jeans and the floor is made from the same earthen clay. It has a Dutch door, so you can open the top part for additional ventilation. It also has air conditioning available in the warmer months and a radiant heat floor. The bed is a very comfortable double with a memory foam mattress topper. The bathroom for the cottage is in the main house, about 40 steps to the back door. Inside you’ll find a large sitting room and full kitchen as well as your bath with claw foot tub and shower. These spaces are shared with 2 Airbnb rooms in the house. If you find the bath busy, our full bath is available upstairs on the second floor.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store.
  • It was a very nice place in a great neighborhood. It is very clean, quiet and beautiful.

  • Jack was away on our stay but we did get to meet cris. The cob was SUPER cute and the perfect size for sleeping. Upon our arrival Cris did explain that the bathroom is separate from the cob and how to get to it, very easy. The bathroom was well stocked with the essentials I would only ask for maybe one more towel and that's it! Super clean, smelled nice, had tp, just what a lady needs. The wifi password and other info was on a nice little card in the cob. The cob also had the option of an AC or heater which was very useful. Cris let us enjoy our time and was readily available if we had any questions. I really appreciate her letting us stay there for our time in Portland. For sure some interesting shire vibes happening. Check out was confusing ,on my behalf, on my app it said something along the lines of check out being negotionable. (Pretty sure the ios Airbnb app is malfunctioning this week or something) regardless cris was very understanding of the time mishap and also the fact that I accidentally took her keys in the hulabaloo of me being late! Yikes! Cris took it very well though and was nice about it. Mistakes happen:/ it just sucks when it's a stress induced situation by me. Long story short, if you're thinking about it go for it!

  • Very friendly and helpful hosts in a great neighbourhood.

  • Jack was awesome! He was kind and welcoming the moment we came to their place. We are still in awe of his awesome cob! He passionately talked about the process, the history behind the cob and how they've previously used this space for the community. This cob was magical reminded us of the Hobbit Hole from Lord of the Rings. We would love to stay here again in the future. My boyfriend left a shirt he just purchased in Portland, and Jack so kindly offered to help mail back to us in Canada. I thought that was so sweet of them to help out! We would love to stay here again Thank you Jack and Cris!!

This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. For your comfort, this as a "pet dander free" space. No pets, thanks. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!
  • My husband and I would recommend this place - close to the Woodlawn neighborhood and the coffee house. Andree was very accommodating and made sure to show us around. Great host and fun place to stay at, cute little loft!

    Heidi2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute tiny home, we loved our stay here, and Andree was so nice in telling us fun bars and restaurants, and also waited for us past our check-in time (we got stuck in horrible Portland traffic.) Thanks so much!

    Samantha2016-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • If you're staying here, then chances are you're interested in the tiny house movement and expect to not have a bunch of square feet to roam around in. Andrèe was very kind and informative about the local night life and restaurants and was respectful of our privacy. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you're interested in tiny houses!

    Brian2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée was a very gracious host, and was great at communicating with us. The house is walking distance to public transportation as well as to some local eateries with friendly environments.

  • Andrée is a wonderfully warm and friendly host. I really appreciated her recommendations for breakfast, coffee and brunch. Just wish I had more mornings so I could try them all. The house is cozy and private, and Andrée has added some thoughtful touches like granola bars, coffee, sweet creamer and coasters everywhere. A great Portland retreat!

  • CLEAN/COZY/RUSTIC/AWESOME/ONE of a Kind PLACE! Andrée was an awesome host she met us and explained everything we needed! It's close to all the Portland's Hipster Spots. Definitely stay there again!

  • Andr'ee was a wonderful host! We were a little concerned about the bathroom and shower situation being inside, but Andr'ee was so warm and welcoming all of our worries went straight out the door. We were greeted immediately upon arrival, given great recommendations, and were shown to the lovely "mini house" cabin in the back. There were very thoughtful little snacks, bottled water, and some fresh ground coffee which was greatly appreciated. We were so excited to be staying in this eclectic little bungalow for the night, pictures do not even give it justice of how warm and cozy it is. Neighborhood was quiet, there were lots of great places to check out in the area, and if you were un familiar Andr'ee had plenty of great recomendations!

With lots of space and light, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, a queen bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv including HBO, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a queen bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.
  • Immediate response to a last minute request for booking was wonderfully appreciated. Jason showed up with a carafe of fresh brewed coffee that he spoke of with words associated with a sommelier. This unit was serendipitously most excellent for charging our electric car (110v) as well as the load in and load out. Parked directly next to the door shown in the photo. There was a big stack of wood for the fireplace which we kept burning all night. It was a warm Northwest experience with the rain outside. The building itself ranks high in turn of the century charm, with the hardwood floors, high ceilings, and built-ins. Multi thread count beddings and comfortable pillows. I suggest a led light bar parallel to the bathroom mirror and some small custom shelves, as there were none in the bathroom. The top of the fireplace hearth was a good second. Also would like a microwave. It is a charming place and we would return without hesitation. Thank you Jason!

  • This space was amazing! The kitchen was fully stocked, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the studio had everything my boyfriend and I needed. It is located in a wonderful historic neighborhood. It is just a block away from the bus stop (the bus will take you downtown Portland). It is just a short walk away from amazing food and there is even a Nike Outlet nearby! Honestly, my boyfriend and I could not have had a more amazing experience. We would definitely come back and stay here again.

    Jessica2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • I had a fantastic stay at Jason's listing. The space is absolutely beautiful, clean and well-appointed, and check-in and communication were very easy. Hope to be back the next time I'm visiting for work!

  • Jason and Hannah’s place is fantastic. It’s located in a beautiful and quiet residential area but close to fun restaurants and entertainment. We had a great stay and would definitely stay here again!

    Anna2018-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely experience! We had the pleasure of staying in the studio for the 16 days of our honeymoon. The room is spacious and it was great to have a full kitchen and be able to cook. We loved having a fireplace and thanks to the abundance of firewood and starters we enjoyed a fire nearly every day. The house as well as the neighborhood is older and full of charm and character. We felt very safe walking even after dark. The location is very close to the bus and easy to get to the trains and all over Portland, yet just far enough from the main city to be quiet and peaceful. Jason is a great host, we felt very welcomed from the moment we walked in to discover a lovely basket of local goodies! He was quick to respond to any questions and very accommodating to any requests we made. All in all, it was a great experience!

    David 2014-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jason's apt is located in a prime location, just a short senic walk to restaurants and bars. The neighborhood is family friendly and very nice. Although it was too warm to use the fireplace the apt was very cozy. We loved that there were games to play and a fully stocked kitchen. My only suggestion is to bring your own toiletries and be prepared for a very small shower. We would definitely stay there again! Thank you Jason!

    Tera2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Nice residential neighborhood to stay in, with close public transportation to get anywhere in Portland! We enjoyed staying in this clean apartment, making fires at night, and exploring all of Portland's neighborhoods by day!

    Chelsea2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, close to transit. There is no TV or Radio, but just made me want to explore the city more, but would have been nice to watch a movie with the fire going and rain drizzling outside. If you are wanting to explore Alberta this is the spot for you.

Laurelhurst is an historic old Portland neighborhood with beautiful homes, street trees and a huge park a few blocks away designed by the Olmsted's who designed Central Park in NYC. You will see how homes in Laurelhurst are each very different and unique from craftsmen with large porches to smaller bungalows with beautiful gardens.
  • Bob & Sue greeted us and gave a tour of their lovely home. The neighborhood is quiet, beautiful, and safe. The apartment was perfect for a week long stay. Centrally located to easily get to many of the great neighborhoods within minutes. The great selection of local magazines and travel books were a plus and helped us pick a few excursions around town. Our first AirBnB experience!

    Beth2016-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Not only were Sue and Bob the most kind and gracious hosts, they were incredibly responsive and helpful. We came to town to look at homes and they offered great advice! Also, the apartment was exactly as advertised, if not better. Every need was anticipated and it was so charming and perfectly decorated. I only have one piece of advice. If you are above 6'5" this place may be too short for you. Otherwise I couldn't be more glad that I stayed here instead of a hotel! 5 stars!

    Stephanie2015-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • very hospitable hosts ... cozy apartment with many extras including yogurt in the fridge and flowers/fruit on the table ... an umbrella at the ready for the drizzle ... a binder full of tips and directions. Go! You'll really enjoy your stay. Claire & Keely

  • Sue and Bob have an immaculate and beautifully decorated little space in their historic home conveniently located in the gorgeous and leafy Irvington neighborhood in NE Portland. Their garden is a little piece of heaven and it was a delight to sit amongst the flowers sipping tea and munching on pastries whilst enjoying the Portland summer weather. We took advantage of the fantastic location of their cottage by walking a few short blocks through the neighborhood to the 26 acres of beauty that is Laurelhurst park, voted the "most beautiful park" on the west coast by the Pacific Coast Parks Association. Sue and Bob were very thoughtful, accommodating and friendly hosts and it was a pleasure to stay with them in their lovely home.

    Devon2012-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed one night, but this place was great! Bob and Sue were wonderful, and the area was beautiful. Everything about it was awesome, and we will be coming back again.

    Cat2012-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Sue & Bob's English cottage was a great introduction to Portland. Located in the beautiful Laurelhurst neighborhood, it was peaceful yet close to many restaurants and parks. Although Sue & Bob weren't in town, they were extremely communicative and made sure we had everything we needed. After a very long day of travel, I arrived late at night only to find a bowl of snacks/fruit and a bottle of wine waiting for us! I was moving to Portland and stressed from the move, so these little details made all the difference. Also, the weather was amazing during our stay and the 2 available bikes were perfect for a quick ride downtown. Also, there was a bus stop only 5 min walk which was really convenient. Even after our stay, Sue was really helpful in providing recommendations for our road trip to the coast. Fantastic host and wonderful experience. Definitely recommend.

    Lauren2015-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob greeted us with a very sincere and cordial reception! After a long journey to their gorgeous home, they made us feel very welcomed. There was even a treat, a bowl of fresh fruit, on the table when we arrived. The description of the place really doesn't do it justice. The accommodations are wonderful! The bed is so comfy. The kitchen is darling and has everything you need, even a popcorn popper. The shower is perfect after a long day of hiking around Portland. The gardens are so beautiful and peaceful. The location was perfect for us visiting our son who lived close by, but even if someone was just visiting Portland, the place is situated in a lovely neighborhood that is very close to the many sites of Portland. Sue and Bob provided a folder filled with good information about where to eat, shop, visit and how to get around the city. We had a terrific experience, and wish we could of spent more time with Sue and Bob.

    CLARK2014-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay. The description of the "Quaint English Cottage Apt" was perfect and the apt lived up to our expectations. It is delightfully furnished in period appliances from the fifties with dishes and furnishings to match. At Sue and Bob suggestion we tired the neighborhood and local park, and my wife and both agreed that pleasant stroll with the diverse architecture was a highlight of our stay. The cottage is very convienently located for both downtown excursions and exploring the east side of Portland. The bed was super comfy! Our visit was in January so we missed the lovely garden area in its full glory, but even so it felt so English! We plan on returning in the early summer so that we can enjoy sitting in the garden in the evening.

Everything you need is here at our brand new guesthouse loft: a luxurious, lofted queen bedroom; high ceilings with floods of natural light, a modern kitchen, full bath with heated tile, comfy sleeper sofa for extra guests, and Stumptown Coffee with organic cream. The loft rests at the back of the property, one block from bustling Division St, and short blocks from restaurants, coffeeshops, & the Woodsman Tavern, named “One of America’s Best Bars,” by Esquire Magazine.
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Mi Mero Mole, The Woodsman), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.
  • This Air BnB is in a great location - close to several bus lines and lots of dining and shopping options. We really enjoyed out stay and would definitely stay here again.

  • Love staying at Laurel and Brian’s guest house. The lofted setup was really nice and an efficient use of space. Laurel and Brian were really gracious hosts. Super responsive and accommodating to every request. Can’t recommend this place any higher.

  • Laurel & Brian's place is wonderful. Very clean & comfortable! The pictures don't quite do it justice. They are quick to respond and all directions were clear and straightforward. They went above and beyond to make sure us and our baby we're comfortable. The neighbourhood has lots of fun places to eat and the recommendations they provided were great! We would definitely stay here again next time we travel to Portland!

  • Best airbnb stay ever! Some things that stood out: - Beautiful, unique, quiet, and cozy space with natural sunlight - Super comfortable bed - Easy passcode access - Guestbook with past guests' recommendations (super helpful!) - Nearby some amazing cafes and restaurants such as Petite Provence - Safe neighborhood - Easy street parking

  • We loved staying at this nice efficient contemporary loft. Especially the warm bathroom floors what a great idea. We hope to be able to come back sometime soon and stay again. I would recommend this location to anybody I know that would be going to Portland we also loved the neighborhood and all that it had to offer. We had a Rent-A-Car but not much problem finding parking. I would recommend loft to anyone going to the Portland area. Daniel

Where Bali meets Portland. Come relax in this newly, beautifully designed, private mixed use accommodation. Just five short blocks from Portland's hip N Williams district. A rooftop deck.
I have a total of five rooms, each listed separately in this unique mixed-use building where I also live and work. You will enter just past the Ned Ludd front patio via a private, secure, gated entrance off of MLK at NE Failing street and follow the stairway up to the second level. This is the larger of the three rooms. Each room is newly refurbished and furnished with beautiful, responsibly sourced tropical salvage out of Indonesia and locally re-purposed wood/trim doors and windows. Your private room comes with a window, a wall-mounted flatscreen t.v., small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, free wi-fi an armoire, an ornate sink carved out of stone, down pillows, down comforters, a king-sized posturepedic mattress and zen colored walls that might just make you think you are in... Bali?
NEPO (aka NE Portland) is hip and cool and like so many hip Portland neighborhoods–it is ever-expanding and reinventing itself. New restaurants, shops, boutiques and businesses are popping up all over. Whether you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night while you get out and explore during the day, or you are just looking for a place you can hole up and relax, we've got you covered. The options and amenities you will find here in your little oasis in NEPO are plentiful.
  • Timothy's Spacious bedroom was exactly what we needed. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Being off the main road, it was a bit noisy but the location was quite convenient - near a bus stop, walking distance from some restaurants and right next to Bushel & Peck (an amazing bakery). The shared bathroom was clean and there was never a wait - complete with shampoo and conditioner. We had a great stay and would come back if we came back to the area.

    Melissa2015-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • I visited Portland for just one night to visit Portland State University. I was warmly welcomed by Timothy, who showed me around his beautiful space. The outdoor patio was amazing and I would love to come back in the summer and spend some time up there. The location was perfect, it took my less then 10 minutes to get downtown and there were lots of cute coffee shops and restaurants nearby. I slept amazingly in the huge, comfy bed and loved all the plants in the room. Everyone I met in Portland, Timothy included, was more than welcoming and eager to show me what great things Portland has to offer. I'm most likely moving down to Portland in september and this little visit really made me really excited about the transtition. I would totally stay here again.

    Christy2015-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Despite the initial confusion my friends & I had getting to the space, the spaciousness, cleanliness, and minimalist decorating made my stay in NEPO great. There are also three amazing restaurants in close walking proximity. The king size bed was in all honestly more comfortable than any other hotel I've ever been in!

    Phillip2015-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is very quite, clean and well maintained place. It's more like a dorm room. There are many other rooms and you will be sharing a bathroom and shower room with others but pretty clean. I actually haven't met the owner but the check in process was pretty smooth. The room it self is really dark even with the window open in sunny day. There are just not enough of sunlight comes in so you might need to turn the light on during the day as well.

    Aran2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely room in a great part of town, the host wasn't there, but he made it very easy to access and although we weren't there very long (only 24 hours or so) we appreciated being in a nice place before our flight home.

    Fiona2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • The room was very clean and beautiful as shown in the pictures. Just heads up though, this place is more like a hostel with a shower and a bathroom to share amongst 4-5 other rooms in the building. The room was very clean and spacious, but the shower did not smell pleasant (although seemed clean). The living room space in the picture seem to be the host's personal space, so we didn't have access. We ran into Timothy once during our stay, and he was very nice. But we received all of our instructions via email and that was easy for our very late check-in. The location is about 10-15 min drive from downtown. Ned Ludd is a great restaurant right next door and Bushels & Peck is a cozy cafe to visit next door as well. Not much else around the neighborhood. Very convenient for people with a car (free parking).

    Lauren2016-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Tims for over a week and really enjoyed it. The room is huge and so cozy. The king size bed was definitely my favorite! It does come with a fridge and microwave, but no bowls or silverware, so if you plan on eating in, make sure to pack that with you. Also Never had issues with having to wait for the bathroom. On site is an amazing coffee shop, Mexican restaurant...best I ever had, and an upscale restaurant called Ned Ludd that has really great drinks. Neighborhood is very central to everything and there is a bus stop right out front. Only complaint is noise. Something that is not the hosts fault. Had trouble sleeping with other guests slamming the bathroom doors and having conversations in the hallway throughout the night. But if you're a heavy sleeper, shouldn't be bothersome. But I would definitely suggest bringing ear buds. Overall, I really loved staying here and will be back!

    Kate2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, close to neighbourhoods with delicious restaurants and cute shops. A short transit ride to downtown. Clean and quite private. Timothy was really friendly and helpful. Can't wait to visit Portland again!

This listing is a private bedroom in a shared apartment with 3 other individuals. We are considerate, quiet, & conscious of our guests space & privacy. In the heart of Portland's NW 23rd District, our place is nestled close to some of Portland's finest shops & cafes: Salt & Straw, Barista, and Fireside to name a few. The apartment has become a "destination" in itself due to the amazing natural light & Scandinavian interior design - even garnering its own hashtag on Instagram (#theaptupstairs).
"The Apartment Upstairs" is perfect for couples, urban adventurers, and creative travelers. Private bedroom outfitted with luxury Portuguese linen, plush Turkish cotton towels, waffle knit robes & slippers, & alpaca wool throws from our friends over at Parachute Home. All room decor and artwork is done by fellow Portland & Los Angeles creatives.
  • Location is in a beautiful neighborhood with plenty to do, but also easy to walk to downtown or jog to nearby Forest Park. Apartment is stylish and Ben is a top host.

    Daniel2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Benjamin’s place. His apartment is beautifully decorated, to the degree that my girlfriend spent an hour taking photographs and videos of the place. It’s located in a quaint though bustling neighbourhood, with lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. Benjamin and his was housemates were very kind, they even gave us a bottle of wine to celebrate Valentines Day! Also the soaps and body washes provided were some next level stuff.

  • Wonderful location and amazingly clean and stylish apartment. Room was a little small for two people, but overall super comfortable. Our hosts provided super nice touches for comfort and good suggestions for what to do in Portland.

  • The Apt Upstairs was great. They styling of the apartment was fantastic, super clean and crisp. The location of the house was also fantastic, only a minute or two away from 23rd ave with all of its awesome food and nightlife. I would definitely stay there again on my next trip through Portland.

    Jonathon2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Ben's place was an amazing experience. The location of this apartment is perfect. The amount of unique and amazing restaurants nearby really help give you the Portland experience. We didn't have a car and it wasn't a problem at all. Additionally, this apartment had the cutest decor and greatest feel. It was really cozy and clean, along with Ben and his roommates being really helpful. It was a great stay, and I would definitely choose this place again!

Relaxed + modern one bedroom basement apt. Bright + spacious with a handmade Portland touch. Comfortable for two, it's a great home-base for the traveler wanting to explore PDX! Located in charming Woodlawn neighborhood. Near the park, bars and bus lines.
Handmade by us! We're a craftsman and an interior designer who are not afraid to get our hands dirty. Stay in this remodeled basement where every detail was thought, planned and carefully constructed. We value high-end, conscious design. Our motto is maintain, reclaim and sustain. All of the exposed wood was salvaged from this 100 year old home! We love our house and hope that you do too. It's a great, peaceful place to crash at the end of the day. A plush queen sized bed, a huge doorless walk-in bathroom (ie. divided by a wall), glass walk-in shower and a tiny but efficient kitchen were top priorities when we made this place. The kitchen has dishwasher/fridge/oven stocked with all the pots/pans and plates to make a nice meal at home. Its always a shifting art-installation, so don't be surprised if the art in the listing photos change. We like to collect art and objects during our travels.
We're one block from 2 major bus lines (the 8 goes to downtown) and our neighborhood market, P's & Q's. 3 blocks from Woodlawn park + 5 blocks to our neighborhood hub: breweries, dance hall, coffee shop and restaurants. Woodlawn is a great area and closely located to Alberta Arts District, Mississippi and Kenton.
  • Anna and Jeremy's place was amazing! Very clean and simple. The neighborhood was nice and quiet and close to a lot of other cool neighborhoods. Anna was very helpful with anything we needed and had tons of suggestions for things to do in the city. We will be staying here next time we come!

  • One of the coolest AirBnB we have stayed in! The decorations and layout were just amazing! We didn't want to leave! We wish we had more than 1 day in Portland. We hope to be back!

  • Anna and Jeremy's place was amazing! Way better than any airbnb or hotel you could stay at in the area, especially for the price! Not only is the place beautifully built and decorated, it is also near in a great neighborhood near a ton of good food within walking distance such as Pine State Biscuits, Petite Provenance and Salt and Straw just to name a few! Anna and Jeremy were also super easy to communicate with and really accomodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and cannot wait to come back another time!

    Stephanie2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Jeremy's home was incredible, just perfect for a quick weekend to explore Portland. It's just a quick 10-15 minute walk to plenty of food and shopping options, and just a dang cute neighborhood to explore. They were very accommodating hosts and we would love to stay here again if ever in the area. Thanks again guys!

    Heather2017-08-22T00:00:00Z

A quiet, cozy bedroom & bathroom on the ground floor of a beautiful, modern new home in a verdant, friendly Southeast Portland neighborhood. Enthusiastic greeting by very friendly dogs & cat comes standard!
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE REQUESTING ACCOMMODATION. As a courtesy to our guests, our check-in time is 2:00 pm; however, as we both work weekdays, we cannot have the rooms ready until 5:30 or so. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up. (PLEASE NOTE: This listing highlights the primary guest bedroom available, but for parties of 3 or 4 people, we do have a secondary bedroom that also features a queen-sized bed. If you are making a reservation for two people and you wish to book both bedrooms, PLEASE EXPLICITLY TELL US SO, as the default for two guests is ONE bedroom; for a two-guest reservation, the cost will be the listed room rate + $30/night. All guests share the same bathroom.) There is almost an entire floor available in our newish home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedroom, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room (please note: the first-floor living room is NOT private, as it does not have a ceiling and is the way between the front door of the house and the stairs to the second floor). We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific sandwich shop that's open for breakfast, lunch AND dinner, a pizza joint, a Starbucks, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about two miles south of the trendy Hawthorne district, one mile south of nationally-recognized Division Street, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities. We have a very friendly housecat you will likely meet during your stay, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed for the comfort of allergen-sensitive guests. We also have two friendly dogs who will greet you eagerly upon your arrival, but who otherwise spend their time hanging out with us and don't wander much to the guest floor. Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.
  • Brad and Becca were awesome hosts! Their place was super cool and very clean. I didn't get to spend much time talking to them, but Brad gave me great suggestions on where to eat in the area. Thanks for the awesome experience guys!

    Varun2015-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Becca have put a lot of thought and detail into their guest space and it is a beautiful place to stay. The couple are nice them selves and their home map insured that we found all the excellent places to go. We loved Portland and Brad and Becca's was a great place to stay.

    Cara2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stayed at Brad and Becca's wonderful home, they were fantastic hosts and we could not have been more pleased!

    Alex2013-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. Arriving was easy with the combo key, the room was cozy, the entire home was beautiful, and communication with Brad & Becca was great. We appreciated the little extras like chocolates on the bedside tables and umbrellas left for our use if needed. Thanks for a great first Airbnb experience, B&B! Sending hugs to sweet Biscuit (the snuggliest cat ever) and your new pup!

    Lara2014-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Becca have a great home! My husband and I stopped by for two nights on our way to San Francisco from Washington. The room is very comfortable and it was helpful to have access to their kitchen for cooking dinner. The great part is how many new things are starting up in southeast Portland - Division street has great food and it's a 5 minute drive from their place. This is a good place to consider if passing through. And make sure to ask about the best ice cream in the area!

    Jean2014-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the hosts, the house, the pets, the neighborhood, thank you guys!

    Petra2014-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time during our stay with Brad and Becca! We were a bit unlucky with weather and ended up spending an afternoon sheltering from the rain, enjoying the company of the cat, Diego. Be sure to check out the map in the sitting room, it has great food recommendations close by!

Newly constructed in 2016, our private detached garden studio sits in the heart of a quiet residential neighborhood and is a short stroll to top restaurants, food carts, and shopping in hip SE Portland. The space is compact -- about 240sf -- but cozy, bright and a great place to unwind after a day of exploring Portland!
Our cozy studio includes a comfy queen bed, vaulted ceilings, full bathroom, kitchenette, and small sitting area. It's fully detached from the main house, so offers complete privacy. Skylights, french doors, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows provide an abundance of natural light, even on a grey, drizzly Portland day, as well as views of the west hills. It's small --about 240sf-- but the space is well utilized with many amenities such as wireless Bluetooth speaker, Portland maps and guides, and comfy pillows and blankets to make it feel like home. The space is best suited for guests seeking a cozy place to relax and recharge after a day of exploring Portland; If you're needing more of a "hangout spot," this may not be the best fit. The studio has a full bathroom with shower (no tub). The kitchenette includes a mini fridge, sink, instant hot water, coffee maker, coffee press, microwave and everything you need for reheating leftovers from the many restaurants and food carts nearby. Complementary tea and coffee are provided along with a long list of restaurant recommendations. There’s a growler available for filling, which you can do at The Imperial Bottle Shop on Division Street and at many local breweries and grocery stores nearby.
We love living in the heart of the Richmond neighborhood! Nestled on a quiet, residential street, we're a short stroll (about 1/3mi) to hip and eclectic restaurant and retail districts of SE Portland. A 4-block walk brings you to a bus stop that can get you most anywhere else in town. A short walk from the studio brings you to food, shopping and entertainment (to name a few of our favorites): PokPok, Salt & Straw, Ava Gene's, Bollywood Theater; Food Cart pods, Little T Bakery, St Honore; A myriad of boutiques, shops and independent movie theaters on Hawthorne, Clinton and Division streets. You'll likely meet some friendly neighborhood cats during your stay, but due to severe allergies, our studio is pet- and allergen-free. You may also spot our eyepatch-wearing, kung fu-performing neighbor (and good friend) practicing in the street, sometimes alongside his 4yo daughter. He’s a world-renowned martial artist and teacher, is super friendly and adds some true Portland character to our otherwise sleepy neighborhood.
  • This space was exactly as posted on the site, and then some. Offers the quietness of a neighborhood with all the things one could want within walking distance. And for the price, can't be beat.

  • Melissa’s place was absolutely fantastic. She put a lot of thought into places to see, restaurants (including time of day and distance!), things to do, etc. Melissa was actually our first Airbnb stay ever, and she set the bar very high! Quick with responses, perfect location, and a beautiful place to stay. We would definitely recommend Melissa to anyone and everyone that takes a visit to Portland!

    Reiss2017-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • This space is just as pictured! Sun-drenched, bright and clean. Close to public transit and within walking distance of the city. When we come back to Portland, we'll be staying at Melissa and Brian's backyard studio!

    Abi2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • The skylights and windows make the room feel much bigger than it is. Melissa also provides a curated list of the best places to eat near by. Be ready to stand in line, but the food is worth the wait.

  • This place was absolutely amazing. It is charming, close to a lot of shops and restaurants and the hosts were kind and attentive. The decor is impeccable and you can tell a lot of thought went into the design. I would totally stay here again if a trip to Portland is in my future.

  • The studio was amazing and the attention to detail was over the top. We loved returning to this beautiful sun filled studio at the end of the day. Melissa and Brian were great hosts and had thought of everything a traveler might need, from delicious coffee and teas to great shampoo and body wash. A comprehensive list of restaurants and Portland reading material was at our disposal. Our son lives in Portland and when we return we hope to stay again at this little slice of heaven. Thank you!!

  • Everything was great and perfect! Location was more than perfect! Very nice restaurants are just on the corner and the area is extremely safe, clean, and tranquil. For the price, you are definitely getting more!! The unit was extremely clean, every little parts within the unit was very well-taken care of. Also, every products within the unit was either a fair-traded, organic, or environmental friendly. The hosts live the next door, but your privacy is guaranteed. It was so obvious that they have spent extra attention to the details of making the unit quiet and accommodating. I would definitely come back to stay at this place again!! It was by far the best place I've ever stayed through Airbnb.com.

  • We enjoyed our stay very much at the Lovejoy studio. Everything we needed was provided. Very clean and neat. The location is prime for the Northwest part of Portland. • Very quaint, posh and modern. Couldn't of had a better location in Portland with the surrounding restaurants and atmosphere. Was exactly the Portland we wanted to experience. Highly recommended.

Cute little Tiny House! It used to be our boys' fort when they were young, now it is a comfortable little retreat for adventurers exploring Portland!
Cute little back yard "granny flat" cottage located near Mt Tabor park in very desirable neighborhood! The cottage is "Portland Style" construction with excellent insulation (R30), new windows, etc.. Great host, free internet, parking, furnished living space that is quite private.. The cottage contains an upstairs bedroom & sitting area. Note: There are steep stairs, so please take that into account ~ if you have joint pain, etc. this might not be the best choice of places to stay... The QUEEN size mattress is new and comfortable. Downstairs there is a small kitchen with stove, microwave and under the counter fridge. Also downstairs is a full bath with ceramic tile shower. Coffee maker and freshly ground coffee provided in the cottage as well as complimentary muffins. At times a made to order hot breakfast is available, message me to see if it will be available during your stay :-D. Guests are welcome to use washer/dryer in main house. Guests have use of the back yard with fruit trees and some berries when in season. Also the cottage is within walking distance of Division street shops, Pizzicato pizza, the 52nd & Foster street Food Carts and much more. The # 4 bus is just a block and a half away, which can take passengers west directly downtown. The TRI-MET app or website is easy to use & can help you get you anywhere from the airport, to downtown, to Powells Books, The Chinese Garden, and so on.
South Tabor Neighborhood is a quiet eclectic little neighborhood with many avid gardners, friendly neighbors, and gobs of dog lovers. We have community get-togethers, work parties, and holiday celebrations! If you are used to neighborhoods where no one knows each other or even speaks to each other this is definitely NOT the neighborhood for you :-D
  • This was a cute little place! It was perfect for my short visit to Portland to attend a business event. I wish my schedule would have allowed me time to order one of the breakfasts that were offered as they all sounded so good. There is a set of steep stairs going up to the bedroom so those with mobility issues may find them a little difficult to navigate. I would definitely stay there again if travels bring me back to Portland.

  • We've used Airbnb all over the world and this one takes the cake! We LOVED our host, the cottage was cozy, clean and just the right size and breakfast was phenomenal. I would definitely recommended breakfast in the main house with Lisa if you get a chance. Not only is she a great cook, but has wonderful advice about the area and is an all around fabulous person. Great location, close to good restaurants and bars. We loved our visit to Portland and we hope to come back again soon!

  • This was our first airbnb experience and it was just perfect. We could not of asked for a better host. The cottage is just beautiful and very comfortable, and Lisa was so kind. The breakfast in the morning was so delicious. I would love to stay here again when I am back in Portland!

    Monica2013-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and family were very warm and welcoming. The cottage was cozy and clean, and was the perfect place for us to stay while visiting Portland. I would definitely recommend this spot if you are looking for accommodation in Portland. Thanks Lisa!

    Chris2014-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed in a number of airbnb homes and Lisa's South Tabor Cottage ranks number one on my list for best value! The South Tabor Cottage was very clean, full of amenities, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. I booked my stay very last minute, just hours before arriving, and Lisa was more than accommodating. Lisa is very friendly, and saving the best for last....her breakfast is out of this world good! I will definitely stay here again if I come back to the Portland area.

    Amanda2015-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • great time in the cottage! lisa (our host) made it very easy for us to arrive/check-in was a breeze. we had all the privacy we wanted. it was within walking distance to a nice big park (mt. tabor) & a cute little cafe. also close to a pretty convenient bus line. parking was easy. and lisa even made us breakfast! delivered to our door! wonderful!

    Sandi2014-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was very cozy. We didn't get to meet Lisa, but she left us breakfast in the morning, which was delicious! The house is obviously quite small, but perfect for 2 people. Very nice residential neighborhood, fairly close walk to SE Division area. I recommend staying here!

    Brooke2015-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome time! We were a little bit worried that the cottage would be too small when we first set foot inside but despite all of our shopping we never managed to feel cramped. Air conditioning was a delight. Haven't slept that well even in my own bed. Lisa is a fantastic host that stayed completely out of the way except to bring us some fantastic home cooked meals. I was quite impressed. The morning breakfast kept the hanger away while we hunted out the perfect lunch in downtown portland. Transportation wasn't a problem at all, and the free parking in the burbs versus $20/day in the city was definitely a plus. Bus ride is about 20 minutes to downtown and $5/day for fares. Can't beat that. Book with confidence, this place is great!

Nestled in the private backyard of our family home, a neighborhood hub. The round, rustic, romantic MudHut hides in a secret garden overlooking the St. Johns bridge and sparkling river, near Cathedral Park, Forest Park, downtown St. Johns, canoe and hiking trails... Firepit, permaculture gardens, loaner bikes, community life, view!
Our hut was handbuilt by family, friends, and community with great love and serves as a guesthouse, homeschool hut, sauna and sanctuary. Wood-heated and candle-lit, it's a tranquil, rustic sleeping space. I recommend staying two nights for an immersive experience in the relaxing atmosphere.
We're in St. Johns, Portland's northern-most neighborhood and a small town of its own with a strong community identity here. Many families here trace their roots back to James John, the pioneer founder of St. Johns who is memorialized all over the neighborhood. Downtown St. Johns is a few blocks away, with plenty of restaurants (Thai, vegan, soulfood, chinese, pub grub, pizza, deli, breakfast, coffee & gelato), an old movie theater and shopping (lots of vintage). Cathedral Park, three blocks away, is gorgeous and photogenic with access to the Willamette River and the awesome overhead presence of the gothic St. Johns Bridge that you can see from the hut. We're also close to a lot of natural areas for urban hiking and paddling. Forest Park, full of trails and old growth forest, is right across the bridge. Just north of here is Kelley Point Park, the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers; Smith and Bybee Lakes, a wetlands for birding and paddling; and Sauvie Island, with beaches, farms, nurseries, hiking, fishing, & birding. We're on the Pacific migratory fly-way, so lots of raptor action around here. Bald eagles, peregrine falcons and hawks swoop by regularly.
  • What an amazing experience! We're currently working on a mockumentary about a sustainable living commune. Staying in the cob hut made it feel like we were a part of our own film. The hut and surrounding property was poetic and cozy, and it made us feel so connected to the natural side of living. We absolutely LOVED the concept of no electricity and only using candles for our evening lighting (beyond romantic, IMO). The gardens were a joy, with fruit dripping off the trees. Our host, Ivy, far exceeded our expectations, as she was warm and courteous as she showed us around the property. The communication before our arrival was perfect as well. She served us delicious tea in the morning. Don’t let the bathroom fool you (based on what others wrote). Yes, it does "look" dark and creepy going down and below their house. But looks are deceiving! The shower head, water pressure, and shower size easily made it our best showering experience of our 10 day road trip (beside a luxury bath in Tahoe). Our only regret was not staying longer. Ivy and her kids made us feel quite welcome, and this is certainly a place I plan on visiting again. Very unique!

    Greg2014-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful, playful, rustic urban farm. Ivy and family are fantastic earthy loving people. We slept like rocks in our Bohemian candle lit earthen hut and were greeted with a light breakfast under the trees each morning that included treats like neighborhood roasted coffee, fresh herb salad from their garden, hard boiled eggs from their chickens, and a special blend loose green tea. We enjoyed sitting in the garden reading and sketching. There is a giant covered outdoor living room, if it sprinkles. You can quickly walk to shops, parks, and restaurants in downtown St John's. It's roughly a 15min drive to downtown Portland. On our last night we slipped out of our clothes and had drinks in the hot tub (none-chlorinated). Nothing like a hot soak looking out onto Cathedral Bridge and giant trees. If you are a returning Peace Corp volunteer or have been living overseas for a while, seriously consider this place for a transitional stay. NOTE: The shower and toilet are in the cellar and knocking your head on the way up back up the stairs is easy (forgot only once).

    Heather2013-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful grounds, beautiful hosts, beautiful views. Everything precisely as promised in the description. I will certainly make a point to book this space on future Portland trips. Tip: Ivy provides a flashlight, but I found it useful to have my headlamp too. Happy travels!

    Kelley2014-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ivy met us at the door and was very kind and accommodating. She went above and beyond what is expected of a host and even offered to help us get the fire going. The Mud Hut is a wonderful place, which allows you to feel both cozy and isolated; it feels verrry vacationy. There's also a beautiful view of the bridge and Cathedral Park is only a short distance away, as is town with restaurants and a movie theater and all the stuff you could want. Thanks Ivy!

    Robert2016-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • The mud hut was everything Ivy had described. It was quiet with a beautiful view. Definitely the unique experience we were looking for in Portland. Ivy was kind and welcoming in the short time that we spoke to her.

    Sarah2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Mud Hut was perfect for our brief stay in Portland. Thank you for the unique experience.

    Krista2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the mud hut. Ivy was helpful in helping us find parking and showing us around. The space was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had access to an outdoor kitchen, a bathroom with a shower in the basement of the house and a hot tub. The fire in the wood burning stove went out in the middle of the night, but it stayed plenty warm inside the hut well into morning even thought it was quite chilly outside. There is a cat that likes to sneak into the hut in the middle of the night if you don't lock the door, but it just wants to cuddle. Coffee in the outdoor kitchen in the morning along with a gorgeous view of St. John's Bridge made this a wonderful experience. If you love the outdoors, sweet cats and an eclectic experience, this is the place for you.

  • Roland was a great host - very friendly and helpful with recommendations of things to do in the city. The loft space was big and comfortable. It’s located just a couple blocks from Divison, which has a bunch of coffee shops and great restaurants. Very close to the 4 bus that will take you downtown. A great deal, especially for the price!

    Aj2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Roland is a wonderful gentleman, who went above and beyond to accommodate me and my grandson. His place is easy to access from the airport and public transport is easy to access for anywhere in the city. The neighborhood has many nice coffee places and restaurants in easy walking distance. Very good choice for a relaxing stay in Portland

    Bernie Dee2018-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Roland's cute and clean place upstairs is warm and cozy with a fabulous gas fireplace, great skylights, a comfortable bed, a private bathroom, a tiny balcony, and plenty of closet space. The beautiful wooden spiral staircase is narrow but safe. Roland is an easy-going gentleman willing to help out with local information and anything else you might need. I highly recommend this location and this host!

This space will make you feel cozy and right at home! A bright and well appointed tiny house located in Northeast Portland. Just steps from some of the best restaurants in all of Portland. The Alberta Arts district is just a few blocks away with cafes, pubs and local shopping. There are unique neighborhood amenities, such as the soaking pool and movie theater at the Kennedy School. For more photos and neighborhood info, visit: @portlandtinyhouse on Instagram.
We put a lot of love into Portland Tiny House. The space includes warm wood flooring, ceramic tiling, modern decor and special vintage touches. The house has a very comfortable Tuft and Needle queen sized bed, bathroom, kitchenette equipped for cooking light meals and cozy counter seating for two. Coffee, tea, fresh eggs and Portland travel guides provided. Need anything else?...just let us know! (2 guests with a small child may sometimes be accommodated)
Guests are a block away from Portland's most popular and notable restaurants: DOC, Beast, Autentica, Dame, Expatriate, Wilder and Yakuza Lounge. The house is within walking distance to the local New Seasons Market and the Alberta Arts District with shops/restaurants/art galleries and the hugely popular Last Thursday monthly arts festival. You certainly won't want to miss all of the wonderful shops and restaurants up on Alberta Street. There are many popular restaurants that often have a line to get in (yes...they are THAT good!) like Pine State Biscuits, Salt and Straw Ice Cream, The Grilled Cheese Grill and the Bollywood Theater. Lots of vegan dining as well: Vita Cafe, Back to Eden Bakery and the Bye and Bye Pub. So many wonderful options, we usually have a hard time deciding what to pick! Just around the corner: Walk a block up to enjoy hand-crafted morning coffee at Extracto or breakfast at Cup & Saucer. Drop in to take a yoga class at The People's Yoga studio. Hunt for fun vintage finds at Red Fox Vintage. Or you can explore the McMenamins Kennedy School: a historic elementary school re-purposed as a hotel (including a movie theater, soaking pool ($5 for a relaxing soak), restaurants and pubs). There are two parks within walking distance from the tiny house, Alberta Park and Fernhill Park. Peninsula Park is also a quick jaunt from the tiny house and it boasts a beautiful, seasonal rose garden that is often less crowded than the well known International Rose Test Garden in the West hills.
  • The Tiny House is in an excellent location, is very well maintained, is exceptionally lovely, and we had a great time. My wife and I stayed for 3 nights during our "mini-moon" celebration, and said "good morning" to the chickens each day. Everything was very comfortable, with the basic amenities readily available, including whole bean coffee, a grinder, and a French Press. It was just like coffee back home! Altogether, our stay was very pleasant and highly recommended to others. Thanks again!

    Michael2015-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved the tiny house! Everything we needed and nothing we didn't. Duston and Genevieve were ideal hosts; responsive and truly interested in providing excellence. We will be back!

    Mike2015-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Their tiny home was immaculate and absolutely perfect, and we couldn't stop marveling at the decor. It was incredibly quiet and private, and conveniently located near local coffee shops and restaurants. It's so wonderful to stay in a cozy neighborhood home rather than a hotel chain. Thanks for everything!

    Kathleen2015-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house is amazing! Such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Many restaurants and bars within walking distance, and it's a beautiful residential walk (so many flowers!). We had a rental car because we wanted to hike & go to the coast. Wahclella Falls hike was about 45 minutes away (highly recommended!!) and Cannon Beach was about 1.5 hrs. But if you are planning to stay within Portland, everywhere you want to go is less than 5 miles away. Very easy to Uber around! The space is clean, curated, and a pleasure to come home to. And we definitely got a kick out of the chickens and checking for fresh eggs!

    Melissa2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here! Very clean, super cute decor, lovely neighborhood area. I hope to stay again one day!

    Katie2018-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in a tiny house in Portland is basically the perfect bucket list tick. Genevieve and Dustin were very accomodating especially with delayed flights. Check in runs smoothly with their instructions and a bus stop and lots of cafes are close by. Highly recommend!

    Anya2018-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay

    Cameron2017-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed in the Portland Tiny House on our recent Portland trip and it was everything I could have imagined and more! We arrived when it was already dark and the tiny house was well lit (with outdoor string lights) and so easy to find. Dustin and Genevieve's instructions covered every single thing I could think of so we felt comfortable checking-in and settling into the tiny house. The bed was super comfortable and the linens were nice (I am a bit of a linens snob and I was happy with their offerings both for the bed and the bathroom). The chickens were cute and I enjoyed watching them in the morning. We have done Portland once before and stayed in downtown, so we didn't mind being a bit away from downtown for this trip. I think this Airbnb is only ideal if you have a car to get you around to downtown or are willing to uber. Just important to remember that it is in a residential area (with lots of restaurant offerings of it's own), but it is still a drive if you are wanting to be in downtown for some of your trip. We will try to stay here on our next trip to Portland and I will most definitely recommend to friends!

  • Ed and Sari were wonderful hosts. Their space is very inviting and comfortable. The rental included a fully furnished loft with a full kitchen, bathroom as well as a washer and dryer. This place is located on a quiet street minutes away from great food and shopping. We were extremely pleased with our stay and would highly recommend to others.

  • We had a great time at Sari and Ed´s place!

    Claudia2017-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Ed and Sari have a wonderful place, great communication, and the simplest possible process for checking in and checking out. The studio is private, has bright + fun decorations, and has all the amenities you could need (including full kitchen + washer & dryer). The location is also perfect for exploring Portland on foot. Ed and Sari's studio helped make a special weekend for us even better. Would highly recommend Ed and Sari's place to anyone visiting Portland!

    Tyler2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Ed and Sari's place. Wish we could have stayed longer but it was quite comfortable in a nice neighborhood.

    Lynne2016-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a wonderful experience! Everything from the adorable private entryway, to the amenities, and the walkability of the neighborhood was as described in the listing- and even better! We truly enjoyed the space, which was aesthetically pleasing and spotless. Perfect for two people. The bed was really comfortable and the 3 heaters worked perfectly and kept us warm and cozy. Loved the travel guide books that were thoughtfully provided. Can not think of a single negative thing to say about our stay. The neighborhood is beautiful and one of the nicer ones in the area. I felt very safe walking around by myself while my husband was off skateboarding. Quick walk to Hawthorne and Division, great nightlife and food. Did not see the owners at all and we were happy with the privacy afforded to us. Honestly we were sad to leave!

    Erin2016-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were very patient and helpful. I had a phone issue and needed them to send the directions to me again. They replied to every text immediately. They were very accommodating. The studio apt was exceptionally clean (no dirt or dust anywhere), modern and new, well built and appointed, very cozy and cute. It was in a very nice, quiet neighborhood, yet just two blocks from Hawthorne where there were pizza and other places to eat and a McMenamins nearby. It was accessible to downtown if you like to walk - a very nice walk across the Hawthorne bridge, but a little bit of a walk, or an easy ride. It was centrally located to access several other Portland neighborhoods. I highly recommend staying here, Ed and Sari, and would love to stay again.

    Tina2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is in a great spot of town, while remaining secluded from Portland madness. Every part of the process was painless, all the amenities were quite modern, and Ed and Sari are more than a dream to deal with. The only reason to not recommend this place would be that it might be booked on my next trip to Portland! Honestly a great place.

Seen on the TV show "Tiny House Nation", CNN, Food & Wine Magazine, and the NY Post, the 350 sq ft Rustic Modern Tiny House was designed and built by us, your friendly AirBNB hosts. Guests call it "completely charming" and "the perfect urban getaway". Welcome! M+J
For years we've been daydreaming about building a little house one day. Then we finally made it happen - using our own two hands (DIY! The Portland way!) and with the help of some great friends. We had a vision in mind, but a lot of the details came together as we built, based on what materials we had available to us. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room with convertible couch, and bathroom with tiny clawfoot tub. Access the upstairs via STAIRS (not a ladder), where you'll find our loft bedroom with comfortable queen sized bed. Sustainable design is important to us, and the house is constructed and furnished from an eclectic array of reclaimed materials - squirreled away over the years, and now creatively reused and repurposed. See photo captions for a detailed walkthrough of the house. A PARTIAL SNAPSHOT • The trim and shelves are reclaimed from an old shed that used to be on the property. • Teak hardwood flooring, cedar shake siding - salvaged from high-end construction jobs. • The wood-clad windows salvaged from a horse farm in the Oregon countryside. • The kitchenette stove/refrigerator sourced from the Hood River History Museum. Instagram: @rusticmoderntiny
We love our walk/bike friendly N. Williams Ave neighborhood - it's been getting a lot of media attention as one of Portland's hottest neighborhoods. You are one block from the main corridor, bustling with award-winning restaurants, bars, coffee shops, wine bars, bakeries, yoga studios, and indie boutiques - it seems there's something new every week. Sunset Magazine loves its “low-key urban vibe", past guests call our neighborhood "awesome", "amazing" and "full of things to do". Our street has even made an appearance or two on the TV show Portlandia.
  • We had an incredible and wonderful stay at the Tiny House. Michael and Jenny were very quick to respond, kind, and their tiny house is the ideal place to visit for a stay while in Portland.

    Adeline2014-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time staying at the Tiny House with a couple of friends. Such a quirky little place and very well situated for local shops and cafes on N Williams Ave with N Alberta St and the centre only a short ride away. We loved exploring the city by bike which Michael and Jenny kindly arranged for us. We would definitely recommend to friends heading to Portland. Thanks!

    Caroline2014-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • I had an awesome experience in The Rustic Modern Tiny House. My girlfriend has an obsession with Tiny Homes and cycling so I figured why not take her to the cycling and Tiny House capital. So as I was doing my research this one caught my eye and upon arrival it did not dissapoint. She was ecstatic when she saw that she was finally going to experience staying in a Tiny house. She also had a good laugh at me as well because I'm a tall guy at 6'3 walking into a small place. But the place was nice and big guy friendly, I didn't feel crammed in at all. It also had an extremely comfortable bed with some thick sheets which came in handy with the cold and rainy weather. The living room was also nice and cozy with a vintage twist and good size kitchen. Also, the location was perfect! It is about a 10-15 minute walking distance from both Alberta Street and a short distance from Mississippi Ave as well. So if anyone decides to visit Portland, I definitely recommend The Rustic Modern Tiny House. During our short stay we both fell in love with the unique culture of Portland and didn't want to leave one bit. As for Mike & Jenn, they were extremely helpful and welcoming and we're quick to respond whenever I had a question, and I definitely plan on staying here again one day. Oh yeah, if you watch Portlandia you will be glad you picked this location.

  • The tiny house was great for a long weekend getaway. It is in a quiet neighborhood that is easily walkable to a lot of great bars and restaurants. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and unique stay in Portland!

  • The Rustic Modern Tiny House was everything we had hoped it would be! My husband and I had a fantastic stay here. Michael was very attentive via text and made sure we were comfortable. We were there in the summer, and with no air conditioning, it did get quite warm during the day and didn't cool off until late. The neighborhood is AWESOME and there are so many great Portland staples within walking distance. We would definitely recommend staying here and hope to stay here if we ever find ourselves in Portland again!

    Allison2014-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • This tiny house was absolutely gorgeous. As pictured, if not bigger than I expected. Great location, many shops, bars, and places to eat in walking distance! Hosts, Michael and Jenny were very helpful and eager to answer any questions. Cant wait to come back, would highly recommend!

    Jess2014-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • We recently stayed at the Rustic Modern Tiny House during our stay in Portland. The place was fantastic! It was adorable and very comfortable. We had everything we needed. We loved their recommendations for local restaurants and made it to quite a few of them. We could easily walk to so many great cafe's, boutiques and restaurants. We also found taking the local bus (just a few blocks away) very convenient and a great way to see the city. Next time we would also rent bikes. Michael and Jenny were very accessible and welcoming. The neighborhood was safe and charming. We highly recommend this place!

    Judy2013-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Jenna made me feel super welcome from the beginning. They were really responsive and before they had to finish a maintenance, they made sure to check with us about when we would be coming in so that it didn't disturb our stay. We really appreciated that. The bed is ridiculously comfortable too which helped us enjoy Portland even more! This place is about a 20-30 minute bus ride away from the city center which was what we wanted. Would definitely stay here ourselves again and recommend this place to others in the future!

  • Chuck and Annika have such a lovely and not-to-miss unit! Within walking distance to breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and coffee places on Division. Highly recommended stay outside of the busy Portland area. We were greeted with chocolate chip cookies and the lovely scent of lilacs blooming in their yard. I'll definitely try to stay here again on my next trip to Portland!

    Tiffany2015-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderfully located, spacious and beautiful apartment. An amazing deal for everything you get! We had a fantastic time on our Portland trip, and part of that was due to the hominess of the place. Lots of nice little extras - coffee, tea, plates, books, etc. a very welcoming experience

    Abbey2015-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was terrific. The apartment is cozy, so clean and had every amenity we could hope for. Chuck and Annika are the perfect hosts; friendly, yet very appropriate and un-intrusive. I very much appreciated their communication style as well, and look forward to coming back again.

  • Chuck and Annika's place is great. It is in an excellent location in the South East District, one and a half blocks from Division Street and all the fun it has to offer. If you're looking for a super cozy space to rest, nestled within a great spot of Portland, this is it.

    Adam & Ike,2015-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing time at Chuck and Annika's. They were always available to answer our questions, before and during our trip. The space was perfect for our needs and is in a great location! Thank you so very much for your hospitality!

    Emma2015-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck & Annika's apartment was the perfect base for exploring Portland. The apartment itself is spacious, and nicely decorated with a comfortable bed, clean bathroom, and great kitchenette. While we were too busy sightseeing to meet Chuck & Annika, they were very welcoming with detailed instructions for check-in, amenities like towels and toiletries set-up in the apartment, and even a plate of cookies when we arrived. The apartment is located in Southeast Portland on a quiet street with easy parking that's only a block and a half off of bustling Division street. Big name spots like Pok Pok, Salt & Straw, Broder, and countless others are a quick walk away. Highly recommended to anyone looking to visit Portland.

    Frank2015-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Chuck and Annika's apartment. It was exactly as described in the listing. The apartment is extremely new, clean and comfortable. We really appreciated the quality of the sheets and towels provided, and it was a nice added bonus to find the unit had Netflix as well. The kitchen area was nicely stocked with everything we needed for our stay. We are pleased to find cookies to welcome us upon our arrival. It was handy to be able to make a pot of coffee in the morning. The location is absolutely ideal. It is close to Division street and very accessible to other Portland neighborhoods. Parking was also very easy. There was ample street parking during our entire stay. Thanks for being great hosts!

    Elizabeth2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • From the messages back and forth online getting things figured out to the little notes welcoming us into their home, chuck and Annika were very warm and accommodating. The location was great, but the hospitality was above and beyond. Thank you!

My house is close to light rail and bus lines in a quiet and secure area. Many restaurants, coffee houses and bars are within walking distance and there is a large grocery store nearby in case you need provisions. There are parks within walking distance as is the Adidas campus. My place is good for solo adventurers and business travelers. There is another bedroom that can sleep two and I have an air mattress available.
Private home with 2 bedrooms in the upstairs of the house. Fully equipped kitchen with a laundry room. The stove is gas so please ask for instructions on how it works before using. The back yard is shady and there is a patio with a fireplace. The neighborhood is very quiet and easy to walk around in.
There are quite a few very good restaurants with in walking distance of the house with a sprinkling of coffee houses and bars. Well lit and quiet there are also a couple of parks with in a few blocks. Also a great grocery store is near by.
  • Amazing place to stay it close to everything in Portland! The spot is nice and relaxing, it felt comfortable and was In a safe area of the city. Sheila is amazing, she is so responsive and accommodating. I would most definitely stay here again!

    Freddy2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sheilah's place is perfect if you're looking for a nice, clean, quiet place to stay that is affordable and relatively close/easy to get in and out of city center. It's a 3 block walk to the light rail which takes about 20 minutes to get to Pioneer Place (heart of downtown). It's a $2.50 ride one way or $5 all day, so when you consider the cost of that and the AirBnB, it's a no brainer compared to staying in downtown itself. The room was very clean, lovely decor, plenty of windows/natural light and there is a shared bathroom with another room/guests. However, the room can get VERY hot during the day, which means when you come back at night, you will be hot on a summer day. Each room has a thermostat, however, mine was always at 40F, but it wouldn't actually cool the room. It would come on only if I raised the temperature higher than what the room was currently. This could've been an error on my part but I would realize it too late in the night to text her about it. So if you get hot quickly, address this with her at the start of your visit. sheila responded to my texts immediately and was very easy to communicate with. I never ran into her but I know that there were times she was on the property working on the garden. There was another guest while I was staying in the house, however, I only ran into them as I was checking out on my last day. The kitchen/living room are communal space to share, but other than sleeping at night, I wasn't in the house much. I had a car and parked it in front of the house without issues. Feasibly, you could do without a car as long as you were OK with walking 3 blocks to the light rail stop or using Uber. If I'm ever in Portland solo, I will definitely stay here again.

  • Sheilah was great. We connected and had a nice chat when I arrived. She provides a guest book that really points out the many, many, local points of interest(food, bar, activities). I stayed 3 nights. The location was perfect for Max and freeway access. Tried the local sushi spot(Mio??) and Atomic pizza, and Bonita Mexican food, all good and walkable. The home and room are so clean and welcoming. The upstairs (where the guest rooms are) seems almost brand new. The layout is (Website hidden by Airbnb) guest room to right the other to be left. Had my own thermometer/heater. Bedding and room close to immaculate!! So appreciated that!! The shared bathroom is super clean and nice. (Thank you for the disposable razor). I was sharing the bathroom with another couple in the room adjacent to mine although they we were right next to each other, I only saw them once and it felt like I had the place to myself. Totally recommend this room and Sheilah is lovely host(eww).

    Bobby2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was awesome. Sheila's home is very comfortable clean and quiet. I would stay here again. A very affordable convenient place.

    Kate2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Good value.... quite comfy. Very hospitable host. Beautiful old north Portland neighborhood.

    David2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Soon after my initial request to book a stay, Sheilah responded (with an accepted response). She also responded quickly after my arrival in Portland, when I asked about gaining official entry to her premises. Sheilah's residence is located on a quiet, tree and nature strewn strip, as advertised. At the end of her block, within maybe 50 or so yards from her place, however, there are three bar/restaurant/evening meeting spots, and also a bus stop. A five minute walk can bring one to a convenience store (Plaid Pantry) and a pretty decent pizza shop (Atomic Pizza); a ten minute walk can bring one to a nice indie coffee shop (Blend), a Thai restaurant, a sushi spot, etc. A ten minute walk in the other direction can bring one to a MAX light rail station for transport north, or for transport south into Portland City Center. The pictures Sheila provided for the room are accurate, for certain. The color palette is mostly tones of grey in between end points of white and black. To me, the room felt very crisp and clean, in the very best sense. The provided bed is a twin bed, meaning the room probably suits best the solo, independent traveler/solo, independent explorer. I can't, off the top my head, recall the nightly booking cost but I think it was VERY VERY reasonable for all that one gains in return. If one is looking for a reasonably priced stay in Portland, not in City Center but with very easy access to City Center, if one is looking for access to some amenities in easy walking distance, if one is looking to feel somewhat situated in nature (think mossy trees and squirrels and squabbling crows) but with 'city' features in easy grasp, well, look no further, you've found your spot!

    Michael2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Sheilah was really easy to communicate with. I had no trouble finding her place, and the room was comfortable and clean.

    Riley2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Getting to Sheilah's place from the airport taking public transportation was easy. It's around an hour commute. There's a breakfast place called Milk Glass Market close to her place that makes amazing bread pudding!! And there are bus stops all along the main street so taking public transportation around wasn't difficult. Her place is nice and clean and my room was a nice size. Wifi worked well! Didn't get to meet Sheilah but she was very responsive via messaging on air bnb.

Brand spanking new, beautiful, modern addition built on our ranch house.
Our 425 square foot addition is brand new (finished 2015) - immaculately designed, gorgeous and a perfect place to stay during your time in Portland. It has a pellet stove for delightful ambiance (and heating), it's own entrance, a blow-up air mattress (for a third guest) and a patio. Stay in a place completely Portland, powered by solar panels, built environmentally friendly, sitting on a major bike street and a couple blocks from the MAX light rail.
Our house is within 2 miles of the fantastic north and north east neighborhoods of Williams, Mississippi and Alberta. There are dozens of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance and I leave a list of our local favorites in the house.
  • Joseph communicated well prior to and after arrival. The space was as advertised and in a quiet neighborhood. The pellet stove was a cool feature!

    Kevin2016-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Joseph's Addition in Portland! Great location, very clean and spacious and cool, modern design. We loved the vegetable garden outside! Joseph was a great host, he was very helpful in answering our questions about the area and communicated all details about our stay in advance. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Great space that is very accessible to all of the great places in North Portland.

    Andy2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely new and clean b&b and the hosts went out of their way to enable us to arrive early and leave our luggage so we could explore the city. The area was quiet and there were some good restaurants near by.

    Bruce2016-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Close to I5, nice small place for 1 or 2 people. Clean. I liked the book they have for visitors to see how addition was made, the whole process.

    Mario2018-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Addition was simply perfect! Joseph and his family have built a beautiful guest house. They were incredibly thorough in providing instructions about the house and the facilities so we never got lost or experienced any problems during our stay. You can tell that they put a lot of work into making our stay comfortable. They even put together an incredibly detailed house manual with all the information we needed about the house and the stay, as well as great restaurant and travel recommendations. We never got to meet our hosts in person, but their warmth and hospitality still reached us through their accommodations!

Experience the best Portland has to offer from a private studio in a lush, backyard garden. Our beautiful, eco-home on a quiet street is conveniently located in Southeast Portland's best and most walkable neighborhood.
Chosen as one of Portland's 10 best Airbnb rentals by Portland Monthly Magazine, it's hard to find a better deal. Tucked between Hawthorne and Division, you’ll have easy access to award-winning restaurants, movie theaters, coffee shops, parks, and so much more. Our 1909 built home is clean, tranquil, and truly unique. Previously featured on Portland's Build it Green home tour. The one-room light-filled studio is perfect for a single or couple. It has a comfortable full-sized bed with nice linens, a small table and chairs, coat and luggage racks (there is no closet), and a place to sit and read while you enjoy complimentary tea and coffee. Whatever season you are visiting Portland in, you will find the studio to be quite comfortable. It stays nice and cool in the warmer months with a ceiling fan, and the convection heater keeps it warm in the winter. Beautiful photography, by a local artist, graces the walls.
  • Joelle and James's place was amazing and incredibly hospitable. Strongly recommended!

    Taylor2014-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Joelle and James' place was a beautiful, comfortable, and conveniently located place to stay in the Hawthorne district of Portland. Their studio was spotless, tranquil, and thoughtfully designed. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and they provided luxurious bedding and plush towels. It is clear that Joelle and James have put a great deal of thought and effort into preparing the garden studio for guests. They were also gracious and informative hosts, providing us with tips on what to see and where to eat. Joelle even made us delicious vegan blueberry bars the morning we left! Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone wanting a great experience in Portland.

    Chris & Christine2014-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough about how great our experience was in Portland and in particular the Hawthorne neighborhood where James and Joelle live. James and Joelle were great hosts who made our stay incredibly enjoyable and recommended some great restaurants and locations to visit in Portland. I highly recommend staying at their beautiful backyard, gazeebo and house.

    Patrick2015-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • If there were such a thing as pair of Olympic level airbnb hosts, James and Joelle would take the gold. My fiance and I have stayed in airbnbs across the U.S., Europe, and South America and never before have we experienced such excellent hosts. Everything from the lavender bubble bath and bath salts to the homemade vegan raspberry bars was absolute perfection. They put so much thought and detail into every aspect of the stay, I could go on and on about it. Rather, I'll keep it simple and say, if you're traveling to Portland, stay with Joelle and James! You won't regret it.

    Devon2016-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cute little studio and the hosts have really attended to every detail -- from the slippers and robe to the Iphone charger in the room. Very nice of them also to make a nice breakfast treat for me and keep in mind my food allergies. It's also a great neighborhood. I was expecting the good restaurants -- which seem to be everywhere in Portland -- but the lush trees and flowering bushes were a great surprise.

    Janet2015-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time staying in Joelle and James' Urban Garden Studio over the holidays. The space is so charming, very cozy and well-appointed - they have really thought of every detail. And the location was perfect! Joelle and James are incredible hosts, have tons of Portland tips to share and even invited us to join them and their family for dinner Christmas Eve - so kind. I highly recommend staying with them!

    Tao2013-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Joelle and James were so inviting and hospitable. I had a great time staying in their little Garden Studio, relaxing and taking in the surroundings. They made me feel comfortable and were helpful in telling me all about the sites to see in the area. I would go back in a heartbeat! And maybe I will!

    Colleen2014-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say that has not been said before about James, Joelle and their lovely home? What I can say is that they have earned their perfect 5star review. The garden studio is beautiful, serene and immaculate. They have paid attention to ever single last detail: guides to Portland, slippers & towels, comfortable bedding, even down the welcome note with chocolate. If these two ever decide to change careers...I would suggest pursing something in the hospitality industry...they are already pro's.

  • Marenda and Heidi are awesome! We are return visitors and will always choose to stay at their home whenever we are in Portland. The location is extremely convenient for UP parents- and is close to coffee shops, restaurants, shopping, and pretty much anything you'd need for your stay. Coffee, yogurt and granola are graciously provided so you don't have to worry about breakfast if you get in late at night like we do. Their home is beautiful, clean, and tranquil. Communication is a breeze! Questions are responded to extremely quickly. We love our visits from Alice and Willow. 🐶🐶 we look forward to seeing them every trip!

  • Heidi and Marenda's home was nothing short of perfect. Very relaxing beautiful home to have a relaxing time in beautiful Portland.

  • I highly recommend Heidi and Marenda’s loft. It’s a wonderful space and I really didn’t want to leave! Hope it is available next time I come to Portland!

    Timothy2018-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a great spot! Excellent use of space and the layout of the many windows really warmed up the studio. We had some last minute travel plan changes and Heidi and Marenda were quick to respond and very accommodating. We highly recommend this wonderful spot.

    Donald2018-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi and Marenda's loft was a dream come true - my husband and I joked that we could easily move in there. It's just like the photos - bright, clean, and stylish. I loved the kitchen, furniture and unique light fixtures. They left little nice touches such as spices, coffee, tea and yogurt for us as well. The shampoo + soap was also wonderful. The location is in a nice and quiet neighborhood outside of Portland, which was just what we were looking for to relax and unwind, and close enough for us to drive and explore the city. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

    Amber2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We did not get to meet Marenda until a few days in, but they were still in contact with us checking on us and making us feel welcome. The description was accurate and even better beyond described. I don't even know where to begin, but this is the BEST Airbnb in exsistence. Everything was perfect and spotless and yet very cozy and comfy! It's in a great neighborhood and parking was super convenient. We will be staying here on our next trip out ! Heidi and Marenda have a wonderful and unique space.

Our studio guest house comfortably sleeps two and features a mini kitchen and private bath. Walk through the garden to your private entrance. Curl up by the fire and enjoy one of the art books from our library. Walk to nearby Alberta Arts District.
With two small children at home, we have found little time to paint in the second floor of the studio building at the rear of our property. Come and enjoy this lovely space! It features high ceilings, ample light, a wood stove (with back-up electric heat), views of the surrounding gardens, a large table and a drafting table to spread out and work on, and an art book library. The kitchenette is equipped with a sink, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and electric kettle. It does not have a cook top or oven or toaster. We provide coffee and tea. The bathroom features a shower stall and an eco-toilet that collects water from hand washing to use on the next flush. With summer temperatures rising, we recently added an AC window unit for our guests comfort. We offer a full bed with a seven inch Ikea spring mattress and a two inch memory-foam topper. Our guests report that the room is surprisingly quiet at night. Please note we do not have a TV; however, our wifi is fast enough to watch movies or shows on your personal device.
I love this place. This is a residential neighborhood with a wide cross section of racial and economic diversity, a lot of the old 'hood funkiness still intact, plus newer hipster creativity and some higher-end business activity. Expect to see a mix of dilapidated buildings and newer or rejuvenated construction. We feel safe at night, however I do advise women to be wary about walking alone at night, particularly if you don't have much street smarts. We are within easy walking distance of Alberta Street Co-op, coffee shops, restaurants, bars and other businesses. The post office, laundromat, Safeway and Walgreens are very close by as well.
  • My partner and I enjoyed our stay at Nell's. It's a lovely upstairs room In a separate building. It has high ceilings, big windows and tons of light. The location was perfect for spending time in the Alberta Arts district with easy access to freeways and other parts of town. Nell and her partner were helpful and friendly.

  • We absolutely loved staying at the artist studio! We were inspired by the artwork and atmosphere. We felt like we had privacy and also in such a great neighbourhood. Of all the places we stayed in Portland this was our favourite!

  • Nell's apartment was ideal!! Such a cute space right near Alberta Ave. The apartment was gorgeous and very eco friendly!

    Michaela2016-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Relax by the fire. Wonderful space and vantage points with captivating light streaming in from all directions. Was taken in by nell’s art, art books, and creative space. With all there is to explore in Portland we chose to keep it local so we could enjoy more time here. Great food close by. Nell has created a special place and offers wonderful guidance for the newcomer to this area.

    Donna2018-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here! It was so cute and cozy. We walked to several restaurants and bars while there for the night. It's a quiet little neighborhood but is located near the main strip of Alberta! Definitely would stay there again in a heartbeat.

    Ebby2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Nell's Artist's Garden Retreat was lovely, simple and everything we needed to have a relaxing stay while visiting Portland. The location was great - a short walk to Alberta street. We especially liked the guide books, art books, and local coffee beans Nell provided in the room. We will definitely try to stay at Nell's again the next time we are in Portland.

    Heather2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • In my opinion this is an exceptional Air B&B to stay at. The location is hard to beat, minutes from anything happening in Portland. Good food right around the corner and a great night's sleep highly recommended

No kitchen, but has a microwave for heating up leftovers, water, or popcorn. Wifi. A block away from Amnesia Brewing and Grand Central bakery. 10 minute walk from the Yellow Line MAX (Overlook station.) • Great location and super simple check-in. The tiny house was simple and sweet. Seriously good location though!

    Rachael2014-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Green house was great. In the heart of an urban community it was easy to access great restaurants and night life. The house was clean an cute.

    Eric2015-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The neighborhood is amazing! Rick stayed in excellent contact with me and made me feel right at home.

    George2016-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Rick and Kristin were very kind and quick to respond. The house was everything I was looking for, matched the description, and was in a great part of town. The house is really close to Mississippi which has some great restaurants and was fun to walk around on. Great home in a great location.

    Brennan2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • The little green house is well done! Efficient, aesthetically modern and fun, bed is extra comfy. Loved the neighborhood which includes being just a few blocks from Mississippi Ave shops, restaurants, and brew pubs. Rick was super responsive to a few questions we had about the lock - very efficient system. We'll definitely refer others to this sweet little place.

    Colleen2014-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • It's a unique experience to stay here and totally matches the unique Portland vibe

    Maikel2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Love how close this house is to Mississippi street! Tons of stuff to do within walking distance. House is a lot smaller than I thought. It would not be comfortable for more than two guests. Other than that it's a great little house.

    Kimberly2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great Place! Amazing Location! So many little shops near by. Close to major bus and train routes. I can't recommend this place enough. It was small and simple, but that's how I like to travel. Good for one to two people. An amazing deal.

  • Great little place for a romantic birthday getaway! Melissa and ken were very accomodating and the place was spotlessly clean and tidy. Very comfy bed. A nice stroll to Alberta st. Which was full of good bars and restaurants with easy access to surrounding areas. Highly recommended. Phil & Leslie.

  • Beautiful space. Highly recommend

    James2018-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa’s place was so dreamy—exactly as pictured, super clean, and works well for a quick stay. We didn’t use the (brand new, huge) kitchen because we were only there for one night, but if making food at your Airbnb is a priority, this is a great fit. Just note that if you are staying for more than a few nights, there is no dresser for unpacking your clothes. Melissa was super helpful and let me drop off my suitcase before check-in, and provided tons of tips/directions/suggestions so we could enjoy Portland to the fullest!

    Hallie2018-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is exactly as you see it in the pictures. The space is very nice and clean. If you’re on business or just need a place for yourself it should suit you perfect, but if you’re looking for a nice retreat with your partner I would look elsewhere.

    Robert2018-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Saw Melissa’s place and instantly fell in love! It looks exactly like the pictures! Everything went smoothly from start to finish. We had plenty to do in the area and enjoyed relaxing inside the cozy studio. If you’re looking for a place in the Alberta Arts District, look no further. You get all you need and more at a fantastic price. We also bonded with her sweet cat Audrey— a bonus for this cat lady ❤️ Thanks so much for being an amazing host Melissa (and Audrey)!! • Melissa’s space is super gorgeous. 100% would stay again!

    Zhong2018-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa's place was beautifully decorated. It was full of thoughtful details (like fresh eggs and local beer in the fridge, recommendations for local places, and fresh whole bean coffee!). It was impeccably clean and cozy and the perfect place to stay if you're traveling solo or in a couple. We arrived a bit earlier than expected and she had the flexibility to let us check in early so we could take a break from our conference. Thanks so much!

I'm offering a comfortable clean bedroom in the best neighborhood in Portland. 24 hours self check in. On all major bus lines. New Seasons market one block away and 20+ restaurants in a 15 block radius. Free street parking. LGBTQ friendly. 3 small dogs live here so if you don't love dogs, this is not the place for you.
I'm offering a bedroom in my four bedroom home on the main floor right next to the shared bathroom. The bed is a comfy queen size. My home has a back porch with a cozy deck for eating breakfast and sipping coffee and a picnic area under the arbor for dinner and relaxing. The dogs can be a bit intense, but Rocky is always down for a head scratch.
Dozens of excellent restaurants within walking distance of the house. Two grocery stores within 4 blocks. Major bus lines will take you downtown in ten minutes. Our neighborhood is quiet and clean in the heart of Portland's biking community. We're also within walking distance to the Aladdin Theater so come see a show while you're here!
  • Kara was out when I arrived but she made certain I would be welcomed by another housemate. The house feels warm and inviting, and the room was quiet with a nice comfy bed. I enjoyed talking with Kara on day 2, she knows a lot about the area. I picked a random direction one day and started walking around and found some great places to eat and shop, it's a prime location for getting to know the city. Highly recommended.

    Derek2015-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kara's house was the perfect place to start our trip in Portland. It's in a really cool area with great food spots and bars. Also really close to the city. Highly recommended!

  • Great place! The room was perfect, the house was in a great neighborhood, and Kara was a welcoming and helpful host.

    Claire2015-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • The location really is amazing. Restaurants and bars were all within walking distance. Shopping was a short drive away. It was everything I could have asked for. Her dogs were hilarious. I really enjoyed that they greeted me when I came home. They were very full of energy but I didn't have any issues with that at all. They were obedient, especially when they saw I had a treat :) The room was as advertised and the bed was sooooo comfy. I really enjoyed the stay.

    Michelle2016-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Kara's place is great! Super close to Division and all the cool things happening there, easy access to a frequent bus line into downtown. And the house is charming! All was exactly as described.

  • Kara's super nice and her place is super nice and in a great location. Very comfortable, i was digging the digital code entry. Thanks again highly recommended!!

  • A nice and comfy, cozy room with plenty of good vibes all around. The house was equally cozy, clean, and really, really, really well situated with plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. The three cute and cuddly puppies are just the icing on the cake in what amounted to a pleasant New Year's holiday spent in Portland.

    Adriana2015-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was great! Comfortable a quiet home yet right around corner from best area in Portland. Walking distance to all the best stuff. Bed was beyond comfortable. Slept almost 11 hours straight one night which is unheard of for me. Kara was a great host, and I really enjoyed talking to her. She almost made me the best crepes I've ever had for breakfast one morning, so thank you again for that. All in all, great stay! I would definitely recommend staying here and will do so myself next time I'm in Portland. Seb

  • Paul was a great host. He always made sure we had everything we needed and helped us out with finding places all over Portland. Whenever we had a question about where to eat or go he had multiple recommendations. His place was perfect for what we needed and we had a great time!

  • What a great place! The pictures don't do it justice. It was very clean and every aspect of the environment had been thought out and tastefully done. Medina was very welcoming and attentive to a few requests that I had.

  • I rented this space for my mother to stay in when our family gathered in Portland for my sister's wedding. Here is her review: "This little cabin was perfect for my summer visit to Portland. Sooooo much better than a motel! Enveloped by luxuriant foliage, quiet and private within a courtyard, it was a perfect place to retreat to after visiting friends and family. The owners were available but never intrusive. Perfectly located for walks to organic shopping, library and coffee shops, and yet quiet. I will very likely return next year!"

    Maya2014-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the Garden Oasis in Portland. Perfect location to tour around the city - easy access to public transit on both MLK and NE 15th that will get you downtown. We walked to Mississippi, Williams, and Alberta St areas for food and shopping and just experiencing the neighbourhoods. The guest house itself was clean, comfortable, and quaint. The perfect little space for a weekend getaway. Information on surrounding restaurants, Whole Foods, etc was available for us in the suite. Thank you for hosting us Colin and Medina!

    Rebecca2013-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place was super great. For $65 a night it was a steal. Close to the Alberta Street neighborhood on a very quiet street. Colin was a nice host and the place was nice and tidy. If there was a negative at all, was just the close quarters with the main house and back cottage, sound travels very well between the buildings! Otherwise this place was perfect, honestly. My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much and the couch/pull out bed was comfortable! Highly recommended.

    Gabriel2012-09-22T00:00:00Z

Our small (8X12) free-standing studio is light-filled, private and tucked away under the trees. With a comfortable queen-sized bed, microwave, mini-fridge electric kettle and table, you will be cozy here! Please note: The Tiny House does not have its own bathroom. Guests use a shared bathroom just inside the back door of our house (our family has a primary bathroom upstairs, but we use the downstairs bath occasionally. We keep it clean and use it minimally when guests are in the tiny house).
Our tiny house is a delightful retreat. While you do share a bathroom in the house, this outdoor studio will offer you great privacy. The tiny house is set up for you to be able to sleep and make coffee/tea and microwavable meals. There is a mini-fridge for your perishable foods, and microwave and electric kettle. There is a table which you can use for dining and also as your desk. Enjoy sipping a cup of locally roasted coffee (beans provided!) while you enjoy the peaceful trees in our 2/3 acre yard. Our backyard also has a large "pump track" that Joel made, as an enthusiastic mountain biker. Feel free to bring your mountain bikes and ride it! The tiny house is very small so we do not store many things in there, but we do have additional amenities available, including: extra pillows and blankets, extra fans and space heaters, hair dryer, curling iron, clothing iron, yoga mat, extra towels, kitchen utensils, tupperware and more. If there is something you need, just let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate! Please Note: There is no kitchen or plumbing in the tiny house-it is small studio. It works best for guests who plan to eat out or prepare very simple foods with the microwave and mini fridge. We are happy to provide extra plates, silverware, etc. and if you need to wash a dish or two, just let us know and you can pop into our kitchen.
We live in Portland's Lents neighborhood, which is ethnically diverse and not yet gentrified. We are close to some lovely local nature preserves, including Leach Botanical Gardens and Powell Butte. We are also close to freeways, airport, parks and public transit. Please note: We are about 10 miles from downtown Portland and about 3-5 miles from the "hip" neighborhoods in SE Portland that have a lot of walkable attractions. If you have a car it is pretty easy to get around from here, but this is not the ideal neighborhood if you are hoping to walk to Portland's best spots without driving or taking the bus. You can walk to Safeway, Walgreens, and the closest bus stop very easily from here.
  • Kate and Joel's tiny home was so comfortable and cozy. I would absolutely stay there again!

  • The tiny house was the perfect space for my boyfriend and I to stay for a few days while we were in Portland. The tiny house is definitely small, but perfectly quaint. We didn't plan on being at the house very often, so the size didn't matter. If you're looking for a budget friendly option Kate and Joel's tiny house will be perfect for your upcoming trip. They even left some very helpful notes behind about the public transportation, and all of their favorite places to check out around the area. I would definitely stay there again! :)
