Just booked in Pittsfield
The oldest house in town, fully renovated. Two-story living room with pull-out couch; kitchen with stone counters and dishwasher, two bathrooms with warm floors. Floorboards upstairs a foot wide; queen size bed with view over the trees, creek and porch.
It's a roomy red sawmill that's 260 years old. There is wonderful light from windows set high and low. It's located across the garden from the big grist mill where we live, on two acres of beautiful gardens, creek and woods.
New Lebanon, at the top of Columbia County, New York, is a pretty funky town, not a Norman Rockwell town. Many people drive right through it to go north for antiquing or skiing, to take the scenic pass into Massachusetts or to pick up the nearby NY thruway. Our town is so small that there's only one stoplight, and that's a blinking one. There's no night life to speak of, no sidewalks, and we lack a big grocery store. The upside is that our site right next to the Berkshires is what makes the old sawmill such a good value, and so good for exploring. You can get easily to almost all the places you want to go-- more easily, we find, than from some of the Berkshire towns themselves. And whatever New Lebanon lacks in picket fences, it offers in glorious hillside viewscapes. The town has a remarkable allotment of Shaker history, such as the massive square ruins of the Great Stone Barn at Mount Lebanon. This was recognized by the World Monuments Fund as one of the 100 most significant endangered sites in the world, and it's right here and easy to visit. Lebanon Springs was also utterly famous in the nineteenth century for its warm water spa, frequented by luminaries like Charles Dickens, Mark Twain and the Marquis de Lafayette. The medicinal spring still courses down the hillside, but in obscurity now. There is plenty to enjoy here. Stop at Blueberry Hill Market Cafe for coffee and something delicious for breakfast or lunch. Try M&M's for a late dinner of burgers, wings, and some craft beer, or reserve at Mario's for a fancy meal. Trek by the beaver dams at Hand Hollow Conservation Area. Go to Meissner's on a Saturday at 4 for their antique auctions, where we've found astonishing values. You'll find a lot of information about local options in our online Guidebook. Our location turns out to be an excellent base for the range of travel and exploration in this area, or just for staying put and enjoying a rural escape, as so many of our airbnb guests have told us.
  • The saw mill was wonderful. Upon arrival, we were met by Fiona and her daughter (who was a great hostess!). After they showed us around, we enjoyed an evening out on the back deck. The mill is full of history and has so many beautiful details. We felt it was centrally located to reach many parts of the Berkshires and areas beyond. Joe and Fiona were very helpful and communicative. The mill was also comfortable and stocked with many essentials. Before we left we had the chance to visit with Joe and Fiona and learn more about the property. Staying at the saw mill is a highly recommended experience. We are already planning to return!

  • Joe and Fiona were so lovely and helpful! The Mill is so gorgeous, and in such a great location! They had left so many thoughtful touches - fresh flowers in the living room; coffee, eggs, and milk in the fridge; and they were very helpful with anything we may have needed. They had great recommendations for the area, and we had a great time!

  • The Mill House is just as pictured, beautifully stylish, and even more comfortable than we imagined. Joe and Fiona are incredible hosts, with lots of recommendations for us during our Berkshires adventure. Communication with them was great, and check-in was seamless. We had one very hot night, so the air conditioning in the bedroom upstairs and the fan in the living room really made a difference for us. Their instructions for all that we needed (how to work the overhead fan, the lighting, wifi, how to find extra bedding, etc.) were clear and obvious. Their book collection allowed us to learn all about the history of the Shakers in the area. They provide everything someone would need---in any season: outdoor chairs for a trip to Tanglewood, umbrellas in case of downpours, bug spray, as well as all kinds of winter gear. We highly recommend the Mill House.

  • Prachtig appartement in smaakvol gerestaureerde en ingerichte zaagmolen. Zeer gastvrije hosts. Heerlijk balkon bij de keuken voor ontbijt en koffie, heerlijke tuin.

  • The Old Mill House has been transformed into a light, airy, modern guest house that has still kept its historic architectural features and ambience. They also have an amazing abundance of fascinating history, art and architecture books throughout the house which gave us much enjoyment (and education) of an evening. The kitchen is by far the best equipped we have ever been in. We travel throughout USA, Europe and Australia and never found one better; the only utensil we found they did not have was a salad spinner (which most Americans don’t even use) but we sent them one as a thank you. So if you like to walk/hike, experience rural New England, don’t want to spend so much time and money going out to dinner every night, and like to drink your wine without worrying about driving: here is the perfect 5 days/4 nights that we stayed in mid-October (which did have brilliant weather and foliage). We flew into Boston, did some prior menu planning, then drove to the PriceChopper and Guido’s Market in Pittsfield and did all our shopping. (The kitchen has many spices/oils/vinegar/coffee/tea/ stuff like that you don't need to buy.) Every day we would drive 20-40 min through different parts of the Berkshires to a hike [October Mountain, Pittsfield Forest, and 3 other walks that we found in the “Columbia County walks” book that you will find in the house - you can walk from 1 hour to 6 hours at all of these places], then drive back a different way through more scenic towns and villages. Then stop for a glass of wine at the Blueberry cafe, or sip your own wine at sunset on the porch of the Mill House, make yourself a nice dinner with more wine and enjoy. You must also have at least one breakfast at the Blueberry Cafe; it’s amazing. You can walk to it down the Mill Road which itself is as pretty as almost any country road in the Berkshires. And you should spend some time at the Shaker Farm/Museum just down the road. Also the quaintest and best smelling General Store also just down the road. One of our best holidays ever.

  • Our stay at the Mill House was perfect! Joe and Fiona were wonderful hosts! The house is well equiped, clean, full of history and adorable! We also loved having access to the neighborhood swimming lake! We would stay there again in heartbeat...and hopefully we will.

  • We loved our stay! Joe and Fiona are very welcoming and thoughtful leaving some local treats for us. The sawmill is a super cozy place to relax in - we enjoyed the time to read and write. We didn't venture out too much but there were plenty of recommendations left for the area which we'll have to return another time for. The sawmill is very easy to find, bed is comfy, nice sheets and towels, fully equipped kitchen to cook in, lovely deck area to sit outside and enjoy... no complaints at all. Thanks so much for hosting us!

    Elizabeth2016-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and Joe were excellent and welcoming hosts! They were very accommodating and friendly from beginning to end. During our weekend stay, we greatly enjoyed using the cookware and taking a walk through the neighborhood. The sawmill was very clean and had everything we needed. The place looks even better in person. We also found the binder with local information to be very helpful. Hope to be back soon!

  • Booking with Allison was easy, and very convenient. She was very communicative and her place was exactly as advertised. We enjoyed crashing here after enjoying a nice day in the Berkshires and a Great dinner in Pittsfield. The place was clean, neat and very cozy. Snacks, fruit and juice were a nice touch too!

  • Allison's place is adorable! So quaint & cozy. The bed was very comfortable too (and I'm serious about bed comfort!). Allison was a helpful and welcoming hostess as well. I was only there for one-night - but I was well cared for; I would absolutely recommend a stay at Allison's place!

A quiet, secluded house with fireplace and jacuzzi on a clean swimmable lake near Jacob's Pillow and other Berkshires attractions.
2 Bedroom house on a half acre on beautiful clean lake. High speed wireless internet which reaches the lake, washer-dryer, large deck and sunroom. The original house was a single story open plan. We added a second floor which includes a spacious queen bedroom and a fireplace as well as a spacious bathroom with granite counter tops and a large Kohler jacuzzi. There is a memory foam 3 inch topper to the bed for extra comfort. The downstairs has a bedroom with a full size bed and closet. There is an additional bathroom downstairs with shower. We also added a beautiful sunroom with a full futon couch. The downstairs has a wood burning stove for a cozy night indoors. The downstairs is also open and spacious with wood floors, the kitchen and upstairs are remodeled and furnished. Down by the water there is a fire pit for a marshmallow or hot dog on a stick barbeque over an open flame. Make sure to drench the fire when leaving to go back upstairs. The lake is clean and very nice for swimming. There is a sandy beach across the way that you can walk to from the house for an easy way into the water. Don't go into the water from the property as it is muddy and slippery. The beach across the house is private and has nice sand all the way into the water. The house is 5 minutes from Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, 15 minutes from the Dream Away Lodge (quite the night spot! with live music and great food and ambiance) 25 minutes from Shakespeare and Co and Tanglewood. The house is in a forest and prone to visitations from wild critters. Be sure not to leave any food outside. Put the fire out completely before leaving the fire pit by the lake. Field mice are everywhere but they are friendly and non-toxic. You may hear them in the walls but they are docile and keep to themselves.
The forest and the clean lake are the reasons I like the neighborhood. There is also a quaint general store in the forest that serves breakfast. Lots of local color and friendly helpful people. New England style friendliness is reserved but positive.
  • We had perfect stay at Nana's place. This place is for the natire lovers and also some luxury lovers. The sun room was amazing both during the day and night. It is located by a lake which is visible by the sun room. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is also a bbq on the porch. The bed was very comfortable. The master bathroom has a jacuzzi which we also very much enjoyed. There are nice little hikes around and great little shops. We parked out car on top of the parkway as suggested by Nana and we would suggest the same to everyone. We spent a magical time at nana's place at it definitely a place that we wish to go back to as long as Nana continue offering the place. Also, the place was verg clean and organized. Thank you Nana.

  • Spent just under a week at Nanas home and over all it was a very good experience. The home was beautiful and had a lot of charming aspects. The outdoor section of the home was equally beautiful and it was a pleasure to spend time enjoying all there was to take in around the home. The amenities in the home are quaint and enjoyable. Nana was extremely responsive whenever I contacted her and was extremely helpful for the most part. We had an issue with the hot water the first night we stayed and Nana had it taken care of in just under 24 hours. That was an extremely reasonable amount of time for the scale of the issue. My only issues with the stay are that one of the amenities promoted, the WiFi, did not work once during our stay. I have no issue with disconnecting and enjoying the nature surrounding us but when something is promoted I am in turn paying for it to work when I want it to. The fact that it never functioned bothered me. My only other issue with our stay was the cleanliness left a little to be desired. The house is in the woods so some rodent activity is to be expected but there were mouse droppings on the bed and some of the counter tops upon our arrival. I would say that the cleaner should have taken care of these things. Overall the stay was a good experience and we enjoyed it very much. The issues were subtle and I WOULD recommend staying here.

  • The place in Beckett was amazing. The pictures just don't do it justice! There's access to a beautiful lake down the hill behind the house. Everything you need for a nice get away. Nana was very communicative and helpful when we ran into minor issues. While we were there the Internet was down but in all honesty we didn't need it! (It was fixed after we left so you can look forward to wifi all the way down to the lake). Being unplugged and sitting in the sunroom was a highlight. We had rain one night and it was awesome to sit in the sunroom surrounded by the trees and the rainfall. If you want to go into town there's some adorable walking streets in Lenox not too far from the house. Hiking also! All together my boyfriend and I had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend thanks to Nana's house. We will definitely be back.

    Emmely2016-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nana was very welcoming and kind! The cabin was even better than I anticipated it being. I loved the openness of the first floor and upstairs loft. The sunroom was absolutely gorgeous and so comfortable. I didn't want to leave. The neighborhood was very quiet. It was exactly what I was looking for and more. Thank you, Nana!

    Nikki2016-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • It was lovely!

    Dan2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect space for a quiet get-away. The home itself is quite cozy, and it's located relatively close to lots of area attractions.

    Kat2017-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a place close to the Berkshires, it's nice. Nana keeps it relatively clean (had to rewash the dishes before using them, but that's not her fault). She was very responsive. The best part of the house is the sun room - you can sit out there all day and just look out into the forest while staying bug free! A couple of things that were disappointing were: - The fire pit outside was completely unusable. It was completely overgrown and there is a low hanging tree over it. In the photo there is a bench, which is no longer there, but just two rotting stumps, it looks like no one has used it in quite some time, but also no one has kept it up. - there is grass all over and weeds like. It's also a bit misleading how close to the house it is - it is pretty far down an overgrown path that has almost disappeared beneath leaves and grass. It is not possible to sit out by the water because of all the tall grass. - The wifi is SO SLOW. After checking the speed it was about 1 mbps, which is unusable for video - unfortunate that there is a roku tv where you can't watch anything. - There are random things all over the place and in the drawers, like someone used to live there a long time ago, but left all their stuff everywhere, all disorderly and shoved behind curtains. The house is very quirky and has a cool spiral staircase leading to a huge bedroom. There are cook casettes and books hanging around. And again, the sunroom is perfect for sitting and reading. The Sherwood Shoppe is fantastic and everyone that works there is super nice (delicious breakfast). We didn't use the indoor fire place or hot tub because it was too hot out. For being in the forest, it is surprisingly bug free which is awesome! And we didn't hear or see a single mouse while we were there for a week. Overall it was ok. Disappointing for what we were looking for, but if you just need it to sleep in, it will do the trick. If you're at all a scardy cat... it is very scary at night (but that might just be me).

    Meaghan2018-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Nana's place for five nights and it was everything we wanted and more! We spent most of our time there either on the porch or in the lovely sunroom and it was very peaceful and relaxing with beautiful views. And most days we drove around to the other side of the lake to swim off the nice and clean small beach there, even meeting some friendly locals! A great bonus was the surround sound system that played music throughout the house. We were also able to grill (we bought charcoal at the local general store) and cook every night. The only thing I wish I had known to bring was a few dish towels (random but true). We didn't have many needs but for any questions I had, Nana responded quickly. I hope to be able to come back someday. Thank you again for everything, Nana!

  • Marie’s Place is the perfect space for our family. We drove up from PA and needed accommodations for one night. I was pleasantly surprised by the home-like atmosphere. This space is extremely clean and comfortable. My husband, daughters and I felt right at home lounging on the sofas (complete with cozy throw blankets :)) Marie is the perfect hostess, staying in constant communication, and meeting us even though we arrived 1.5 hours behind schedule. Her home will be a top choice when we return to the Berkshires. You won’t be disappointed.

Visit Tanglewood, Kripalu, Jacobs Pillow, Jiminy Peak, Bousquet Mountain, Lebanon Valley Speedway, Albany, Pittsfield, Lenox... go for a hike, ski, visit Furnace Brook Winery or just relax on our property and unwind.
First built in 1834, our house was a carriage house (with horse parlor) that was set behind the grand house unfortunately lost in a fire. Our house mostly survived the fire, was beautifully restored and has been used for several things....including an Inn, a restaurant and legend has it as being a Jin Joint during prohibition and used as a gangster hideaway,. It has also been a gambling house, roadhouse and in 1939 was raided by the Feds who seized $10,000 worth of gambling equipment. Rumor has it that it was possibly a stop for the Underground Railroad. In more recent years it was known as the Pillars Restaurant. The restaurant is now closed and We have turned it into our home. Large enough for weddings and gatherings. (Ask for details) 7 acres to checkout including a small stream. Plenty of paved parking.
Private and Quiet but close to New Lebanon Speedway and Skiing....Check out Jiminy Peak Ski and Mountain Adventure, or Bousquet Ski area. We are 13 minutes to Pittsfield Ma. About 35 minutes to Albany, 10 minutes to Furnace Brook Winery at Hilltop Orchards, 25 minutes to Tangelwood and Kripalu. There is also good fishing, hunting and hiking close to our home or just a chance to relax on this beautiful, historic property.
  • What a great spot for a little rest and relaxation! My husband is a writer and he thought it would be a perfect writer's retreat. The two twin beds in the storage area only seem weird if you aren't traveling with children - my son thought sleeping in the "fort" was great fun! The host was gracious and kind and made sure we had everything we needed. The setting is beautiful and being able to open the big windows and enjoy the view and the fresh air was perfect. We wish we could have stayed more than one night.

    Christine2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a cool, unique home! Steve was very welcoming and a great host. Fyi, the 2nd bed (not photographed) is a mattress in a closet off the main room great place for kids to sleep! The place is also much bigger than the photos show

    Amy2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was an okay stay. Perfect size for what we needed... but... We arrived late at night with a note on the door with clear instructions. (We had kids with us...) The description is listed as a "whole house / apartment" which is not true. In fact, the owner lives right Beneath the space... The air conditioning stopped working after 20 minutes of arriving and we got VERY hot... it wasn't until our last night that the host decided to read my message and turn the AC back on.. Also, I specifically asked before we got there if the sauna worked... he said yes... but it absolutely does not work. Anyways, thinking we had the place to ourselves, we allowed the children to play. After the first night I received a rudely worded message demanding us to show him respect because this is "his house". (Of course we would have kept it down if we knew they lived there) so after that we had to be extremely quiet which was pretty annoying having more than one kid. They had a playroom for kids which was nice.. but after we got scolded we couldn't let them play. (Why would they have a playroom if the children can't play?) Overall it was an okay stay. It's a pretty roomy place. It was very far from Albany. Also Location isn't great as there are no stores or walmarts for 15-30 miles. Oh and heads up... if you decide to book here.. the bathroom was carpeted.

  • Beautiful place and wonderful people!! The place is fantastic, clean and very spacious, with all the amenities needed - it even has a sauna! Communication with the Clarks was very easy, they are a really friendly family – loved the bagels on Sunday morning! Perfect location if you are going to Tanglewood festival. Looking forward to our next visit!

    Adriana2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended spot. Lovely folks, had everything we need for a two-night stay. Beautiful location and grounds. PLENTY of space.

    Andy2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place is huge! And beautiful. The Clarks really made us feel at home. We decided to go to Marios down the street in a moment of impromptu thinking. Although we weren't prepared for the dress code, the food was excellent! Recommended! Steve really went the extra mile to draw us up a map of the best way to get to Tanglewood so we could avoid traffic. This place has all the amenities you could want! It stays really cool in the summer, and you can get an awesome cross breeze with Windows open, or turn on the AC and shiver into Arctic oblivion. Next time I go to Tanglewood, I'll have to stop by the Clark's estate. Don't hesitate, just book it.

    Connor2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fun, really spacious and awesome place to stay. My son immediately asked when we could come back - we were all sorry we only got to stay one night ! Short drive to Stockbridge, and just minutes from restaurants of New Lebanon. The Clark's we're gracious and so nice, and communication was perfect. The house is set far off the road so it is quiet and peaceful and you wake up to birdsong. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and can't wait to come back.

A wonderful welcoming house in a beautiful residential neighborhood. Our favorite things to do within 15 minutes are Tanglewood, Kripalu , Mt Greylock, the Norman Rockwell Museum, skiing and hiking nearby. Our home is centrally located to all of the fun things to do in the Berkshires. We've lived here for over 20 years and are happy to provide helpful insights for your stay. One of the reasons we love the Berkshires is that each season offers wonderfully unique experiences for any visitor.
The large guest suite/studio is perfect for three people with a comfortable king-sized bed, twin bed and plus a queen-sized air mattress can be added to accommodate more guests. The spacious room also offers a private full bath, seating area (loveseat, TV and coffee table ) plus a large walk-in closet for your belongings. A mini-refrigerator is provided to guests as well as coffee maker. The guest room is located on our second floor so there are steps to get into our home as well as into the guest area.
We live directly across the street from an elementary school so the area is busy for a small period of time each morning and each afternoon when school is in session. Otherwise it is a diverse and safe neighborhood with kids traveling back and forth to the playground and adults walking, biking and running.
  • Great place to stay! Very friendly hosts, clean and well stocked and spacious rooms with plenty of privacy with the option to socialize with this bright and interesting family. The neighborhood was quiet and easy to find. I was very pleased staying here and would stay here again.

  • Hosts are a lovely friendly family with very sweet cats. Couldn't be more helpful. Room is very spacious, clean and comfortable even during the heat wave with fan and AC. Bed, pillows, and linens all super nice. Off street parking in the shade nice and very pleasant neighborhood. A great location away from noise and traffic but very easy and quick to get to good restaurants, grocery stores, shops of all kinds, and movie theatres. Shhh - keep this a secret or they will never have a vacancy... Don't hesitate to stay here.

  • This was a lovely room with a private bathroom. Josie did a great job making it feel comfortable. I was especially touched with the freshly-baked banana bread! I'll be back next time I come through town. Thanks!

    Angelica2018-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcome in Josie's house, and were impressed by the spaciousness of the upstairs suite, with private bathroom, huge bed, and plenty of space. Josie's husband was very helpful and made us feel right at home!

    Jason2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Could not have been more welcoming when we arrived. The room we stayed in was terrific. The amenities such as a coffee maker made it great in the morning. We were there for a training but we were able to come and go as we wanted. I don't think you could get a better place to stay in this area.

    jay2018-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely spot! Huge private room, perfect for a weekend away. We came up for a concert at Tanglewood, and this was ideal - only about 15 minutes away, and it was clean, comfy and just a really great spot. Megan (Josie's daughter) checked us in, and showed us everything we needed. (And had made some delicious banana bread for us - so good we had to bring the rest home!). We'll certainly stay again when we come up to the area. Thanks for a great weekend!

  • Engaging hosts that are available but afford all the privacy you require

    Kevin2018-04-30T00:00:00Z

Come enjoy all the Berkshires has to offer while staying in this comfortable, modern cabin in the woods - stroll, bike, or drive to the lake's sandy beach for a refreshing dip. Canoe available at lake for guest use. Enjoy starry skies in the private yard with fire pit and hot tub. Use of a telescope for stargazing. Wifi, smart TV's, comfortable memory foam beds, kitchen stocked with utensils, amenities, coffee, tea, spices & condiments.
Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival is just down the road, and Lenox / Tanglewood is a very scenic short drive away. Visit the cute Sherwood Shoppe for home-cooked meals including breakfast all day long, beverages and food to stock the fridge with, and take some local grass-fed meat home to grill burgers on the propane grill. We try to think of anything you might need to forget all your cares and relax - please let us know if there's anything else that would help in that aim.
Community is free of streetlights, and is mainly dirt roads, so I ask guests to try to arrive during daylight for their own convenience, but this is not mandatory. Snow: road clearing is quick and thorough, but please use caution during snow or muddy conditions (usually early spring) Some roads can be steep, as this is very hilly territory, but we have provided maps to show you how to get anywhere in the community via the easiest and flattest routes (You do NOT need W4D). I send different routes depending on the season, prior to your stay. We have also provided detailed routes to the lakes, where the canoe is docked, and so on (in house guide book).
  • Loved staying at Alison's place. My business partner and I went for a quick company retreat to do some summer planning and talk about our values. The location + house lent itself so well for that. Even though it rained most of the time we were there, we got out, walked around, took a plunge in the ice cold lake, and enjoyed the hot tub. The neighborhood is beautiful. Seems like there is lots do nearby but we didn't venture out during the day or night, except for casual strolls. The house itself is fully equipped with tons of resources -- a great TV, hot tub, comfortable rooms, and well-stocked kitchen! Would come back :)

    Fahad2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for access to all the attractions in Southern & Central Berkshires. The house is a short car ride from the lake, which is beautiful and serene. Hot tub was a great perk out on the deck.

    Rebecca2018-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very well kept. The decoration was super cute. All of the basic kitchen utensils were there, which helped us out a lot. We had a really good time.

    Anna2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet cottage secluded in the woods, only ten minutes by car from Jacobs Pillow and close to many restaurants in Lee. Very comfortable bed, with large dresser for unpacking. Small outdoor deck with grill and hot-tub. We had a relaxing stay, enjoying activities in the area.

    Stanley2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a nice little cabin with all the comforts of home. The beds were great. The grill and hot tub were a fun addition. I would stay here again!

    Sarah2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Alison’s house was and is great for people (families, couples) that want some time away from everybody and everything. Great for a relaxation weekend. A lot of the grocery stores, places to go out, etc. are 20-45 minutes away from the house, which for us was not a problem, but it was a good drive to explore new streets and places. Beds were super comfortable and Netflix was chill. Lol :) Overall, it was great. I would definitely come back and I definitely recommend the place. :)

    Dinely2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, secluded and comfortable. The hot tub was perfect and the beds were sublime. Alison was great, her hospitality and response time were perfect and really made us feel welcome. Would stay again!

    Jennifer2018-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in Alison's home. The pictures of the house were accurate, as was the description. And the surrounding area is beautiful; the perfect place to go if you're looking for quiet and to relax. Star gazing from inside the hot tub is the way to go, and we enjoyed doing that every night. There were board games in the house that we were happy to have, and it was nice to relax in the hammock with my book for awhile one afternoon. Alison's home was inviting and warm, and the furniture was comfortable. Alison was very easy to communicate with, and was even kind enough to provide directions from the airport to her place which would take us past a grocery store and places to stop for a bite on the way to the house. It was a few miles out of the way; but in the end, much more convenient than what GPS wanted us to do, and much appreciated. The only word of caution I have is to heed the word of warning to make sure there is daylight when you head to the house the first time. The house is in the woods, with windy roads, and no street lights; so it will be much easier to find when the sun is out. :) Overall, I highly recommend staying here, and would love the opportunity to do it again.

Our place is a central location in Berkshire County, short drive to restaurants and shops; art and culture, skiing and hiking also close by. You’ll love this former train station( next to the Housatonic RR tracks) which is on three acres between a chapel, the scenic Housatonic River and October Mountain. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
Entrance is off a rear deck to a shared entrance foyer. There are three steps from the driveway to the deck and one step into the foyer. Your room is off the foyer, and with the bathroom is fully contained . You will be given keys for the foyer door and the door to your room. You also can control the heat in your room. You have a coffee maker, microwave and a small refrigerator.
Tanglewood is about 6 miles away, and Kripula 6.3 miles. Bousquet Ski Resort is 3 miles north, and Jiminy Peak 16 miles.
  • My husband and I stayed at the Station House over Labor Day weekend and had a wonderful time. We had tickets to Tanglewood and the location of the house is perfect to get there (about a 10 minute drive). Charlie and Margaret met us on arrival, showed us the space (a room with a private bath) and made sure we had everything we needed. There were a lot of thoughtful touches, like local cider in the fridge, maps of the area with things to do and dining suggestions, and a coffee maker with a great coffee and tea selection. We only noticed the train once and it was not a bother at all. We also really enjoyed seeing all the bunnies in the yard. We will definitely plan to stay here again if we find ourselves in Lenox!

    Christine2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • I travel to the Berkshires frequently for education, training and business. If Station House is available that is where I always stay! This is a great little space in a quiet area and Charlie and Margaret are great hosts.

    Nancy2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret and Charlie were very responsive in all communication. Directions were very clear and they had everything you could think of written out in the room such as the WiFi code and how to work the heat. They were also gracious enough to let me check in earlier than 4pm so that I could head off to my workshop at the Kripalu Center right down the road on time. I found the bed very comfy, not too hard and not too soft, and I appreciated the water and other amenities that were left out for me to have or use. I would gladly stay there again.

    Mary Ellen2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie was friendly and informative on arrival. The place was as advertised, self-contained, very unique and quirky setting. Good value.

    Andrew2018-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, roomy and private. Charlie and Margaret give you plenty of space but also very friendly and responsive. Very quiet country setting. Lovely yard. Very comfortable bed. Fridge, microwave, coffee pot. Lots of convenient spaces to spread out. Ample parking. Close easy commute to town. I will definitely stay there next time I'm in town.

    Nancy2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Private space, lovely location, great host.

    Herman2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderfully private room had lots of nice touches—mini fridge, comfy chairs for reading, side board and bar stools for breakfast or coffee. Charlie directed us to a nice local pub for dinner and had a great space where we could lock up our bikes. Close to Edith Wharton’s The Mount, an amazing House museum and gardens, great plus! Great place for a fall getaway!

    Pam2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed the peaceful location and privacy of my room. I enjoyed meeting Charlie and learning the history of the Station. The location was just right as a home base for exploring the area from Weston VT to Sturbridge CT and I really enjoyed apple cider - nice touch!

This is a quiet room with a large private bathroom and a comfortable full size bed, also with a private back entrance only for the use of guests. Five minutes drive to MassMoCA, walking distance from a nice section of the Appalachian trail. In-between North Adams and Williamstown, the location is ideal if you are planning to visit both MassMoCA and the Clark. The street is in a wooded natural area, on a hillside. Parking in front of the house, in the driveway.
This is a quiet and comfortable place to spend the night. A private bathroom with bathtub and shower opens directly from the guest room, and the room has a private entrance as well. We do not provide breakfast but there is a variety of ways to prepare tea and coffee. Guests are welcome to be anywhere in the downstairs section of the house, including the dining room, or the picnic table outside when the weather is nice.
In-between Williamstown and North Adams, in a natural area. The house is in a quiet little street, right by a stream. From the front porch you get a view on the mountains.
  • Dorottya's mother greeted us and showed us to the room which was as pictured. The room had its own bath and was connected to the house with common kitchen. We never saw anyone after being greeted.

    Carol2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Dori was very quick to respond to messages and flexible with our check-in time. Our stay was peaceful and quiet, which actually surprised me because the room is next to the kitchen, but I didn't hear cooking at all! Perfect for our time in North Adams, I would definitely consider staying again.

    Samantha2017-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice house, perfectly nice bed and bathroom with private entrance only in the summer months. Nicely situated between North Adams and Williamstown.

    Nora2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house was great! Dori wasn't there to meet us but her mother was very kind. It would have been better if she told us she wouldn't be there at all, but she was communicative before our arrival and everything was as expected. A little far from the center of town but very good value!

    Estie2016-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Dori's place is perfect.

    Adam2016-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Dori's house was clean, quiet and close to town, the room was thoughtfully decorated and as private as it could get while still being in somebodys house. We didn't actually meet Dori, as she was out of town. But her mother was a sweetheart, and made us feel very welcomed. She made room for us to put stuff in fridge and left us alone

    Frank2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • A nice quiet back room in a house, with its own bath. Fine for singles and couples, snug for three, with a mattress on the floor. Dori is a very helpful host.

Soak up the Berkshires in a renovated 3rd floor apartment (private entrance, 2 flights up) that is well-appointed, homey & with great views! Art, music, skiing, nature, shopping, food & drinks just minutes away! Located just off Hwy 7 (but very quiet!) for easy access to all of the Berkshires. 15 min=>Tanglewood. 35 min=>MassMoca. 30 min=>Lee Outlet Mall. 40 min=>Gr Barrington. 40 min=> Mt Greylock. Heart of the Berkshires! But ALSO the urban amenities of Pittsfield: shops, dining, drinks!
Former service quarters in a one-of-a-kind 1896 Arts & Crafts-inspired Colonial, now fully renovated into a tucked-away apartment. Enjoy warm living areas and spacious bedrooms with a kitchenette, full bath, two bedrooms, steam heat and A/C. The space also features a screened in porch off the second floor and a second 1/2 bath on the landing exclusive to the apartment.
The apartment is nestled in the Southeast neighborhood of Pittsfield by the Berkshire Athenaeum, Temple Anshe Amunium, the Berkshire Museum and the Colonial Theater. It is a very quiet neighborhood filled with beautiful historic homes, trees and a wide variety of birds.
  • Apartment was amazingly clean and exactly as the photos depicted. Would recommend if you’re looking for a quiet getaway in the Berkshires. Branden and Andy were extremely efficient and helpful hosts.

    Anthony2018-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Branden and Andy are great hosts. The location is great, walking distance from many different restaurants, activities and shops. There was a very detailed listing of places to go and things to do in the apartment. The directions were easy and convenient, and the hosts are very gracious. The apartment is certainly big enough for more than one person, but I enjoyed having the space to myself.

    Rhei2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay in Pittsfield. Very convenient location and Brandon was very quick and helpful with responses. It is a comfortable and lovely place to stay. Of course just be aware of the third floor walk up, which I was fine with.

    Ari2018-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Really liked the building and the space enjoyed my stay, even stayed an extra night.

    Terry2018-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Branden & Andy's third floor apartment was the perfect spot for a recharge. We were walking distance to the tip of the South Street Business District. If it had been a touch warmer we would have taken the city by foot. One thing to keep in mind is the apartment entrance is in the rear of the home and the first flight of stairs are a little steep. Being up on the third floor your view out the back during the winter months is really a beautiful scene.

    Johnny2018-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is clean and nicely furnished and comfortable. A quiet residential neighborhood but very close to downtown Pittsfield and nearby amenities. The hosts were attentive and very helpful (even agreeing to send me some items I left behind in error). My only complaint was the bitter cold of the weekend...can’t they control Mother Nature? ;-) Guess the answer is to return in warmer weather!!

    Paul2018-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Branden was a very tentative host who responded to any questions or needs we had within minutes. The apartment was exceptionally clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious. We appreciate Branden and Andy for working to make the apartment as comfortable as possible and it was so nice to be able to have our dog spend the trip with us. There was a nice size yard for her to run in. Great hosts, thank you

Private and spacious guest house off of the main house where I live. Private entrance, queen pillow-top bed, private bathroom and mini-kitchenette (no stove) with mini fridge and sink. Working fireplace. Lovely garden view with sitting area. 10 min drive to Lenox and 5 min to downtown Pittsfield. Right down the street from MA Audubon Canoe Meadows with hiking trails.
Private guest studio off of the main house where I live with my two children, ages 6 and 9 and friendly dog. It comfortably fits 2 and is spacious and airy.
Location! 10 min straight shot to Lenox or 5 min to downtown Pittsfield. On a main road but tucked away with a private yard that makes you feel secluded and private. Beautiful preserved hiking area 1/4 mile away.
  • This is great value for the Pittsfield area—it was our own private space with everything we could need for a few days. We didn't get a chance to meet Molly, but she was very responsive over text whenever we had a question.

    Nina2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect accommodations - nice space, nice bathroom, clean, quiet. We will be back!

    Brian2017-06-27T00:00:00Z

  • Molly's place is cozy, charming and lovely. It is quite spacious for two people. It seems to be newly remodeled and she has decorated the studio quite nicely. We were really excited to stay there. She gave us a number if great suggestions for things to do in the area. We would love to return.

Relax in our bright, very spacious, and quiet loft, on six open acres. Lounge on the stone terrace, under the stars, by a cozy fire, near the garden. 35 min to Northampton, 35 min to MassMoca, 10 min to Berkshire East. Wi-Fi, satellite TV , cell coverage, Hearthstone wood stove. Fully outfitted kitchen, home made granola, milk, beverages. Two hybrid bikes available for use. The pics don't do the apartment justice- there are 3, 5-foot long skylights, and a cathedral ceiling= much natural light!
The apartment has a queen sized bed, coffee maker (with coffee provided), plenty of pots, pans and utensils, and a new 39" HD TV with DIRECTV satellite service. The space is newly renovated with nine new windows, and new paint on the walls, ceilings, and floors. There are three, 5 foot long skylights on the slanted ceiling- one in the living room, one in the kitchen, and one in the bathroom. There are just about six acres of open field, which faces south/southwest, and a beautiful vegetable garden with stone terraces at both ends. We also built a Black Locust pergola at the south end of the garden, which sits atop a Goshen stone terrace (we just planted grapes, but they're still very short!). There is also a fire pit at one end of the garden, and an outdoor fireplace at the other end. There are flower gardens in several spots on the property. We are 100 yards from the public library, which, itself, has recently been upgraded in a major way. Our home also houses a one room post office (300 sq. feet), which is open from 12pm to 4pm, M-F, and 8:30am to 11:30am on Saturday. It's rarely busy...
Our house is centered in the Plainfield Historical district. Plainfield is a town of less than 600 people. Very nice walks and bike rides, right outside our front door! Here's a link to a blog write up (with pics) of one guest's recent stay here... http://coreylynntuckerphotography.com/2017/12/30/non-traditional-christmas-getaway-plainfield-massachusetts-airbnb/#
  • No need to wear my earplugs this past week in Plainfield. It's always quiet! Just what we wanted! Lots of room and lots of charm. Peter made sure we had everything we needed and more! He was attentive and friendly, without being intrusive. The bed was very comfortable . Wonderful granola and fresh milk was provided and enjoyed! A well stocked bookshelf,a bag of dvds, and Boggle kept us entertained. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. It was the perfect headquarters for us to visit friends in the area and explore.

    Jan2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • I brought my boyfriend to Peter's place for his birthday. It was beyond ideal. We had a beautiful fire every night, we cooked in the darling kitchen that had everything we needed. The place was so cozy, clean and comfy, it totally hit the spot for a weekend getaway from the city. We saw so many stars at night, mass moca was just a short drive away and a truly exceptional experience even for a couple of jaded New Yorkers! Peter was such a lovely host, he responded to any need or question we had promptly, gave us all kinds of info about the area and was just delightful to be around. Our only regret was that we had to go. We both hope to get back as soon as possible. It was perfect.

    Michelle2015-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter had a lovely stay and appreciated the serenity this location provided. Everything from the homemade granola to the wood-burning stove made this quite the relaxing retreat. Thank you, Peter!

  • This apartment was perfect for our stay. The space is beautiful and feels just like home as soon as you walk in. The homemade granola provided is delicious! We loved using the wood-burning stove to keep the space warm and lounging and enjoying the views of the changing leaves. Great stay!

  • Fabulous little apartment off the beaten path but close to great hikes and small towns. The pictures are very accurate and the apartment was well equipped with necessities for light cooking.

  • Had an amazing 2 night getaway. My boyfriend and I made plans to kayak and zip line at Zoar. Peters place was only a 20 minute drive from Zoar and the location was perfect. It was quiet and the surroundings beautiful. One of the highlights of Peters hospitality was the surprise of two beers in the fridge on our arrival. Welcome to our home. Our joyful, private & cozy guest room is an ideal place for a restful night. In the morning, we will treat you to a lite, locally-sourced breakfast before you head out to explore all that the Berkshires has to offer.
We have a joyful, colorful private room waiting for you upstairs in the eclectic work-in-progress we call home. This sunny room features a comfortable full-size bed with plenty of pillows, beautiful linens and a scrumptious down duvet. There are also extra-large bath towels, plenty of closet and drawer space and room darkening shades if you like to sleep-in. In the warmer months we put an A/C in the window for your comfort. The recently renovated full-bathroom is shared and adjacent to your room. There is an additional half-bath on the first floor. If your situation calls for it, we have a portable crib available. We look forward to sharing our home with you! -Jeanette & Erica
Our house is easy to find and located on a quiet, dead-end street within walking distance to downtown Pittsfield. There you will find Berkshire Museum, The Colonial Theater, Barrington Stage Company, and The Beacon Cinema as well many restaurants and eateries. Because of our central location, we are just a short drive to just about anywhere you’d want to go in the Berkshires—Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, MASS MoCA, Kripalu Yoga Center, Berkshire Theatre Festival, and Jiminy Peak, as well as many bucolic hiking spots from easy to challenging.
  • Jeanette and Erica were so friendly and the room was perfect. They worked with me on my travel plans and were incredibly gracious hosts. It was a pleasure!

  • Jeanette and Erica were perfect hostesses. Their home is warm and inviting and they made me feel right at home. I would definitely recommend them!

  • I had a brilliant time at Jeanette and Erica's home. They made me more than welcome, thoughtfully organising things so that it was not only easy but a lot of fun. I found myself included in some of their colourful social life and was treated to an impromptu tour of surrounding countryside. I came to see MassMOCA and although I could have stayed closer to the museum it was a lovely drive. Not to mention that Erica arranged tickets for me, which was above and beyond any expectations I had of the experience. The room was fabulous-I thoroghly enjoyed the colours and the company. Thank you ladies, I certainly hope to return.

  • Jeanette and Erica are charming hostesses. Their home is as exactly as depicted in the photos, warm and cheerful, and with positive energy. It's like staying in a friend's home with good taste. Both of them make you feel extremely welcome in their home, and you're able to use the kitchen for cooking, help yourself to a big basket of tour books and get advice on places to go. Though Erica was eight months into a project at the time, she still made time to check in to see how the stay was going and even recommended budget ways to visit the local attractions. Both of them are also involved in the local food community and have a lot of knowledge on the iconic Berkshires food culture. (Ask Erica for her documentary she made on local food culture) Staying with Erica and Jeanette is like having access to your own Chamber of Commerce, and their home is an easy drive from all the fun places to visit - Adams, Lenox, Great Barrington. Highly recommend.

  • Lovely family! Great hosts! Very relaxed and easy going hosts that made me and my daughter feel right at home!

  • Staying with Erica and Jeanette was like staying with friends. They're warm, gracious hosts and take care in making your stay with them enjoyable. Their home is lovely and the bedroom is thoughtfully put together with everything you need and nothing you don't. We enjoyed a laid back breakfast and sharing Airbnb stories. From one Airbnb host to another, this was definitely a 5 star stay!

    Valerie2016-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jeanette and Erica were friendly, fun, and helpful. They helped me find things in the area, and were extremely flexible about my schedule. The location was convenient as well. I'm used to queen beds, so this bed felt a little small. I'm 5'9", and when I slept on my back it was fine, but I also sleep on my stomach, and in that position I had to sleep diagonally to accommodate the extra length of my (fairly big) feet. I'm grateful to have been able to stay with them, and would look to do so again if I visit the area again.

    Keith2013-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We needed a place to crash overnight on a road trip through the Berkshires, and Jeanette and Erica's room was perfect. They were laid-back and welcoming, and the bed was very comfy. Highly recommended!

Our place is on a gentle flowing river, close to waterfalls, walks and the Berkshire cultural sites like Tanglewood and Jacobs Pillow . You’ll love our place because of the river, the deck, the hot tub; complete tranquility and a home away from home. Close to some great sites and activities, far enough away to escape. Our place is good for couples, friends and solo adventurers. Snowboarders/Skiers (or snow bunnies) and families can have great fun too! Sit back, relax and enjoy our home!
  • An amazing home in a lovely New England town. We had a great time and enjoyed watching birds from the deck over the river.

    Bob2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for a stay in the Berkshires! The little town of Chester (walkable from the house) is right out of a Norman Rockwell painting. (Don't miss the Chester Theatre Company on the next street over.) Loved Patrick and Fiona's clean & tidy house with its European vibe and very comfy beds. The deck over the brook is beautiful and relaxing. This is a little gem of a house and we definitely plan to rent it again during our next stay in the Berkshires.

    Elizabeth2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best Airbnbs I have stayed in, and I use Airbnb a lot! The house was extremely clean and very well equipped. We had such a great time relaxing in the hot tub, grilling for dinner, watching tv on the comfy couches, visiting nearby towns, and hiking in the Chester-Blandford State Forest. We will definitely be back!

    Elsa2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a lovely home, very spacious-clean-and warm. The deck is huge and the hot tub makes this stay apart from all others. The hikes near by are so beautiful and special. Pat left notes about the house, contact numbers incase of emergencies, even about local places to hike and eat. He also left details on how to use the hot tub and Bluetooth speakers. My girlfriend and I absolutely loved it and are thinking about renting again in summer (its November and the foliage was exceptional.) Not far from NYC either, only 2.5hrs. Thanks so much!!!!

    Matt2017-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beautiful, clean, and was perfect for my husband and I on our little getaway. The river was amazing and we hiked to nearby Sandisfield Brook Falls. It seemed like we were far, far off the beaten path, but there was so much to do and explore nearby. We spent a day in Northampton exploring and we went to the Big E.

    Amy2018-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay, excellent accommodations, nice town, and lots to do in the area. Great Bass fishing in local lakes and ponds!

    Jason2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick’s place was exactly the getaway we needed! We enjoyed the thoughtful bottle of white wine they left in the fridge for us, the comfortable beds (seriously, some of the most comfortable Airbnb beds I’ve slept on!), and especially, the hot tub! The view from the hot tub at night, in the morning, during snow was totally breathtaking. We enjoyed walking to dinner down the street. We also took the drive to North Adams to visit Mass MOCA, and stopped in Northampton to walk around. Overall, I’d highly recommend Patrick’s place!

  • A wonderfully peaceful and secluded house on a small river. 30 minutes drive from Lenox and great barrington and lots of nice hikes. Patrick and Fiona were great hosts and made us feel right at home!

A lovely New England Home, Private floor, with two bedrooms, cozy den with fireplace and private bathroom! Near Butternut Skiing, Jiminy Peak, Lee Preium Outlets, Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge, Lenox! Share the lovely kitchen and Frank Lloyd Wright style Great Room, with the friendly host and kitties upstairs!!
Nestled in the glorious Massachusetts Berkshires, with ancient stone fences, in the midst of the lovely woods. Brick fireplace, lovely views, cathedral ceilings in the Great Room!
I love the quiet dignity and majesty of the Woods and Mountains of the Berkshires. We are near the skiing resorts at Butternut and Jiminy Peak in Winter, the Appalachian Trail, and in summer, Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Shakespeare, Barrington Stage, and Mt. Grelock. We have the cute towns of Stockbridge, Lee, and Lenox for great restaurants, browsing in our many unique stores, and museums!
  • Incredibly stylish space, a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired gem of a mid-century modern cabin. Wendy's parents had built the cabin in the 70s and the place still retains the original appliances and furnishings of the era. You feel like you're in a Wes Anderson movie. Wendy was incredibly welcoming and warm herself, it was great fun learning about the history of the cabin and the book she's writing. We had the whole of the lower level to ourselves - 2 big bedrooms, 1 big den with fireplace, 1 bathroom. Everything worked perfectly and was spotlessly clean. Kiki and Jasmine were super cute and friendly. Nearby is Lee (15 mins drive) for food, Otis for alpine skiing (8 mins) and Canterbury farms for XC skiing (10 mins). Beautiful woods, secluded from any noise and tons of trails for trekking in. Highly recommend!

    Ruth2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy's place is great. Spacious, comfy and easy to get to a lot of Berkshires activities. Wendy was really helpful and communicative and we would definitely stay again.

    Robin2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very nice place to stay. The host was welcoming, the property is quiet and peaceful and the location was great. We arrived after a long and brutal heat wave, and were so glad for the Berkshire weather. The house is perfectly situated to catch the breezes, so we felt cool and comfortable in the house, even though the air outdoors was at times warm and muggy. It was also nice to have such comfortable beds!

    S2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house in the middle of the woods, in the beautiful Berkshire. Several cute little towns around. Indépendant bedrooms + bathroom + den downstairs. Access to the whole house. 2 cute cats. The perfect place if you are looking for a retreat in the woods!

    Clara2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay at Wendy's with her two kittens! It was clean, quiet and homey, nested in the forest. The rooms are in the basement with a private entrance, with Wendy living on the first floor. Not too far of a drive to the more touristy parts of the Berkshires (25min to Tanglewood, an hour to Mt Greylock). Our 4-year old loved playing with the kittens, but we did have to shut our bedroom door at night as they liked to come in and romp around!

    Grace2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy was a great (Website hidden by Airbnb) was great to chat with her and she was so welcoming and flexible. She welcomed our dog Maggie, who loved sniffing out the house. Her house is beautiful, spacious, convenient as it is very close to the Mass Pike and Rt 20 and also down the street from the Appalachian Trail for some hiking. Hopefully we get to visit again!

    Nicole2016-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful stay. The home was large, the fireplace was lovely, the surrounding environs peaceful. It was clean and well-kept, and Wendy was a gracious host. Her cats were very friendly and visited often; for us, as cat people, that was a welcome addition. There wasn't any WiFi or TV but we made due with our phones. Anyway, if you're visiting the Berkshires, it's nice to be a little off-the-grid. Wendy was friendly, informative, and accessible. We had a lot of interesting conversations with her, and it was great to get to know her as well.

    Adam2017-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house, woods and lake are wonderful. But, the real gem here is Wendy herself. Her hospitality and brilliant conversation make you feel at home and important. She's genuinely interested in her guests, learning from them, and helping them get to know what the Berkshires are really about.

Our Quiet Cottage is in the forest minutes from a fresh water lake. Hiking trails are abundant in the area. For winter guests you are within 30 minutes of Butternut Ski resort. There are cross country ski trails throughout the Berkshires and four other Ski resorts to choose from a bit north of our house. There are great restaurants nearby and cultural activities year round. It's a great place to rest, read and recharge.
Our Cottage in Sherwood Forest is private and on 1/4 acre of land, a few minutes walking distance from the beautiful 88 acre lake and 20 minutes to the famous cultural attractions. We have two small bedrooms. One with a full size bed (Brand new with a pillow top)and the second bedroom has a single futon. The kitchen has a coffee maker, fridge, toaster, stove and oven. We supply some dishes, utensils and basics spices if you want to cook. The living room has a full size pullout futon. We have medium speed internet service. We have brochures and maps of the local attractions for exploring the area. The Appalachian trail is near so that can be a great hike. We have a General store that is within walking distance that has recently been spruced up and offers some gluten free homemade treats. They offer a great breakfast all day! Enjoy the quiet of the Berkshires. The cottage is great for a couple. We recommend it for a couple or a young family since it is small. There is a bus from New York CIty to Lee. But you still need a car to get to the house which is about 7 miles away. We ask our guests to bring sheets and towels since we don't have laundry facilities onsite. We do have a few blankets and comforters.
The Neighborhood is quiet and serene and we can recharge after being busy in the city. The lake is a short walk from the house. We do have neighbors nearby but we rarely see them.
  • Clean, quiet, and lovely place and location.

    Neal2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Becket Cottage in Sherwood Forest was exactly as described. The kitchen was perfect for fixing breakfast and coffee. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and sipping coffee in the mornings. There were even potted flowers on the outside table and step when we arrived. We had a plumbing issue which Mary Ann took care of immediately by calling her local plumber. She communicated quickly via email and text. The gas stove in the living room was perfect for taking the chill out of the cottage in the morning. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would book again if we were in the area.

    Tia2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place was good and cozy, but the host was unreasonable. Despite charging $60 for cleaning fees, the host called me and texted me with agressive language after my 3 night stay with my girlfriend to complain about empty beverage bottles left on the counter, some dirty dishes and salsa spill on the blanket! She didn't believe that it was just the two of us, she accused me of renting it to my friends, and accused us also of peeing in the bed/ vomiting in the house, etc. None of which is true. The toilet also clogged at 3 am the night before our checkout, and she was mad at us for not texting here until the morning! If you're willing to pay $60 cleaning fee, clean the place behind you, bring your towels and bed sheets, and put up with an unreasonable host, this is your place.

  • Perfect place for a littke get away. Quiet and relaxing location.

  • The cabin was neat, clean and welcoming. We had a great time. It was peaceful and quiet; just what we were looking for! And the lake, the lake was the best!!!!!! Might make this a yearly trip!

  • We loved our stay at Mary Anne's cottage. Very clean and cozy! It had everything we needed. Great location, close to all the cute towns of Lee, Lenox, Great Barrington and Stockbridge! Breakfast at Sherwood shoppe is a must and dinner at Nudel in Lenox was fantastic. Would love to return in the summer time! Thank you!

    Nicolle2016-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a city escape and that's exactly what we got! The area is beautiful and the cottage was so relaxing! We especially loved the fire burning heater!

    Hannah2014-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a clean, comfortable, nicely situated space, ideal for a quiet and contemplative get away. There is a little lake nearby with a family friendly sandy beach, within easy walking distance. We enjoyed the Sherwood Shoppe menu and local color, also within easy walking distance. The wifi worked well. All in all, a great value.

The Edmister House. . . Experience the past in a gracious turn of the century Berkshire "cottage", custom built for New York society second homeowners escaping the summer city. "Mr and Mrs Willard Edmister will entertain many Brooklyn guests during the season. Their new villa has a splendid location with an outlook over the Housatonic Valley. . . They closed up their summer home and returned to the city. They'll reopen it for the holidays" Brooklyn Life, 1914/20
Experience a bit of the gilded age in our unique turn of the century Berkshire cottage with large spacious rooms, 3 working fireplaces downstairs, large private yard for reading and enjoying Berkshire time. We recently purchased this 10,000 sq foot house as a multi-generational family home and are cautiously renovating it while maintaining it's original integrity. We are 3 generations of adults, enjoy music and people. The Emma Room has a king size bed. The Arden Room has a king bed. The West Wing is a king bedroom and living room with direct access to the first floor deck. Note: If some of your dates are booked you can switch rooms for longer stays. Looking forward to meeting you! Ken, Laurie, Tom & Robin
located in quiet residential historic district of like homes.
  • Laurie and I spoke on the phone and she made me feel welcome from the beginning. Her father, Tom was there to greet us, and he knew everything we needed to know and gave us a most friendly welcome. The house is unbelievably gorgeous and don’t be fooled by the use of the word “cottage.” You can easily get lost in this cottage. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was everything I wanted and more. Coffee was strong as we like it and all was plentiful. Ken made breakfast enjoyable with fun conversation. One cannot go wrong in staying with Ken, Laurie, Tom and Robin.

  • If you are looking for the perfect nest to complete a Berkshires retreat, this is the place to stay. Ken and Laurie are stellar hosts. Aside from being pleasant company, they are very accommodating. The property is a gem and feels like a retreat within itself. I would recommend this listing to anyone!

  • It was so inviting and lovely. We were welcomed warmly and treated like old friends. They are so relaxed, trusting and open. They easygoing about the space, check in and check out times. We wish we could have stayed longer. Such lovely genuine and engaged people. We will definitely be going back. Laurie showed all the different areas of the house and shared the process of the work they had done. We relaxed on the back porch with coffee on chaise lounges in the sun with no pressure to leave. It was so refreshing to be there and meet them. Thank you!

Romantic getaway or family adventure. Charming stone building served as a one-room schoolhouse from 1832 until 1950. Beautifully situated amidst horse farms on the scenic road to Mt Greylock, centrally located with easy access to cultural and outdoor activities. No extra charge for children (to avoid being charged, do not included children in the count of guests).
Historic stone building that you will have all to yourselves! Furnished with antiques and tastefully decorated. Owner's fine art photographs adorn the walls. Very large loft space upstairs, with queen bed, single bed, kitchen and living and dining areas. Downstairs is the original one room schoolhouse classroom with blackboards and some antique school desks and two twin beds, and the bathroom.
Quiet, except for sounds of nature - birds, occasionally cows, horses or coyotes. We are near the road, but there isn't much traffic. The farm next door now has a few alpacas and miniture horses in additonal to the usual horses. We're a mile down the road from the Mt. Greylock visitors center.
  • The Stone Schoolhouse is wonderful. It is just as cozy and comfortable as the pictures suggest. Our kids loved playing school, enjoying all the games and movies. The beds are very comfortable and we had just enough kitchen supplies to make simple meals and enjoy our time together before the holiday chaos began.

    Sarah2017-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the old stone schoolhouse. It was every bit as unique and charming as its photos

    (Mary) Marcia2017-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really nice stay here on a fall weekend getaway to northwest MA. The cottage is a unique spot (formerly a schoolhouse) with an interesting history and was also a very comfortable place to stay. It's a little off the beaten path but close to Mt Greylock, which was beautiful, and not far from Williamstown.

    Elizabeth2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Rich and Cheryl were both quick to respond to us and very communicative, especially when we were unsure of our arrival time. Rich was there to meet us right as we were pulling in and showed us around the school house. Unique place - spot on what we were expecting. Great for an overnight stay and it was very close to the areas we wanted to hike. There was also a binder that offered tips on where to visit in the area.

    Sarina2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely and cozy school house! Family friendly and close to museums, shops and hiking!

    Jennifer2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a quaint and lovely space! Rich & Cheryl have preserved the history of this schoolhouse which further adds to the character of this place. It is a big place, well equipped, very unique and so memorable!

    Sym2018-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Stone School Cottage. It is a unique setting and Cheryl has nurtured it with love. There is a lot of history that has been retained, and the cottage is very well provisioned and beds very comfortable. I had my best sleep in ages! There were fresh flowers and beautiful photographs. The location was great for us...visiting Williamstown, Jacob's Pillow and Tanglewood. And Cheryl gave excellent tips on everything, including the nearby restaurants. We will consider staying again.

    Irene2014-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We were here less than 24 hours, but will definitely be back. An excellent place for families - clean, plenty of open space and kid-friendly toys, etc. available. And the historical aspect of it being a former one room school house is so neat - it seems most (if not all) of it has been well preserved. Bonus points for not having to bring our travel crib! It’s a great, quiet location between Pittsfield and Mount Greylock, so daytrips are convenient. Rich is friendly and offered helpful tips. Great value for a family looking to enjoy the Berkshires!

'Loft off North' is just around the corner from the heart of the Berkshires, North Street in Pittsfield. This is a newly renovated space, completely re-done from top to bottom. This is a circa 1850's farmhouse, originally thought to be part of the Linden Ranch. The back portion of the house is estimated to have been added on around the first decade or so of the 1900's. As a result, the structure has an eclectic mix of hardwood flooring that add to the charm of the apartment. In keeping with the farmhouse design, a large deck has been added alongside the front of the building, along with a tin roof covering. An industrial vibe is also incorporated with a pipe and metal cord rail system. The interior has all the comforts of a modern space with central heating and an updated kitchen and bathrooms.

  • Sandy was so welcoming and great at communicating with us. He was kind enough to show us around the place so we knew where everything was (no guesswork!) and his recommendations for where to eat were terrific! Great location, highly recommend.

  • Staying at Sandy's house couldn't have been better. It's comfortable, had everything we needed, and was very well located. Sandy is very friendly and laid-back, and offered helpful local suggestions. I would absolutely recommend this house for anyone visiting MassMoCA or just enjoying the area!

    Lucile2017-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy's listing is in a beautiful location! It is a charming apartment in a residential area. Great distance to museums. Sandy was there to welcome us and was very easy to communicate with!

  • This is a very charming and cozy place with a lot of character and a beautiful view. Sandy is very accommodating and helpful. We reallyenjoyed our stay.

  • Sandy is the perfect host -- readily available for any questions or concerns. Accommodations were exactly as described. Definitely recommend!

    Mary Beth2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy was very responsive and helpful leading up to and during our stay. Unfortunately, the weekend we arrived in Adams was incredibly hot, and the listing was not abundantly clear that there was no AC in the upstairs area of the apartment (where the bedrooms are located). Had we known, we likely would not have stayed here as sleeping was incredibly uncomfortable. Moreover, we found a dead bug under the sheets in the bed located in the main bedroom. While we think the location was convenient to Tanglewood, our experience was not ideal. That said, Sandy was a great host and very friendly and helpful throughout.

    Samantha2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot for a North Adams getaway -- close for hiking Mount Greylock and visiting all the excellent art museums in town. Sandy was a wonderful host who made our experience easy and relaxing.

This beautiful Victorian farmhouse is situated on a half acre with great views of Mount Greylock, surrounding mountains and the quaint town of Adams. The wraparound porch is perfect for relaxing. It is fully furnished and has a fully equipped kitchen. There is a wood stove in living room for those chilly nights and wood is provided. Walking distance to Adams/supermarket. Short drive North Adams (MASSMoCA), Williamstown (Clark Museum) and Jiminy Peak (ski resort) which is 30 minutes drive.
House is in perfect condition with all original wood floors. There is a lovely porch which overlooks the large garden with a view of Mount Greylock. There are chairs in the garden area. The kitchen also overlooks the garden. The separate dining room opens to side porch. Living room has wood stove and wood is provided. There is a ground floor bathroom and upstairs bathroom. The house has been furnished but not overly so, so it is light and airy. There is a master bedroom with queen size bed and two smaller bedrooms with full size beds. There is storage in each of the bedrooms. Sheets and towels are provided, along with necessary toiletries. We don't like to leave food lying around but there sometimes are basic supplies in the fridge and/or pantry.
House is in the town of Adams, a lovely quaint town. Set up on a hill, the house is in a quiet neighborhood. It is a 10 minute walk to the supermarket, so car is not required. Amazing views of surrounding mountains. Great restaurants nearby in North Adams, Williamstown, Pittsfield. About a 10 mins. drive to Chesire where you can buy amazing fresh produce at Whitney's. . Everything within driving distance. North Adams, MassMoCA, Clarke Museum in Williamstown. Great bike trails nearby.
  • We really enjoyed staying at Kate's house. It was clean, spacious, and comfortable. We wanted to visit both the attractions in the north Berkshires (like Williams College) and those in the south (like the Rockwell Museum), so the location in Adams was perfect. Kate was extremely responsive, and promptly answered all our questions.

    Ryland2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Katherine's home. Its beautiful and full of great details. The wood burning stove is such an amazing touch and its comfortable for several guests. The kitchen had great light and the porch is amazing. We would most definitely come back (hopefully in warmer weather!) as its a great place, very affordable and Kate was a great host, being very accommodating and communicative. We even used the waffle maker!

    Rachel2018-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Kate's house! The furnishings are beautiful, it was spotless, and we immediately felt right at home. The covered porch is a real treat. The views from the property are stunning, and the location is perfect - a short ride to MASS MoCA, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. We'll definitely be back!

    Kelly2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We rented Katherine’s place because we had a birthday party at Massmoca. It’s such a central location and great house.

    Joe2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the 1890s house. It was in lovely space in a convenient location - close to Adams and North Adams. Great place to stay if you're looking to go out to western MA :)

    Rukmini2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, dog and I spent a wonderful, relaxing weekend at the 1890 house. Kate is a superb host. From our initial booking exchange to our departure Kate was communicative, helpful and friendly. The 1890 house is beautiful! We spent the snowy weekend exploring the nearby forests and enjoying cozy evenings by the fire. I heartily recommend Kate and her lovely home!

    Claire2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's house is a beautiful, cozy, well cared-for and charming little gem. The views from the hilltop are spectacular, Mt. Greylock, in particular, dominates the skyline from the dining room and wraparound porch. The place was spotless and really well appointed. The woodstove was especially welcome on the cold couple of nights we were there. North Adams and Williamstown are very close by, offering plenty to do and see, along with good restaurants and shopping. And, of course, hiking on Mt. Greylock is a must! We could not have asked for a better experience, and plan to return again to enjoy another season.

    Art2018-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's home is so beautifully appointed and warm. We had a wonderful stay and enjoying the wood stove and all of the cozy furnishings. Our husky loved the snowy backyard. The area is very quiet, and close to MassMoCA/North Adams. Kate was fabulous and responded quickly to all messages. Would definitely recommend!

There is a Ninja blender, a coffee maker, pots and pans, dishes, forks, spoons, herbs, spices, and anything you could possibly need for your stay. You don't have to bring anything, but yourself. The view from the house is impeccable, surrounded by glorious pines that you can even gaze at through the bathroom window. The cabin has radiant heat and split unit AC so it is great for any time of year.
If you are looking to get out and about, we are five minutes from the quaint town of Old Chatham, which has a country store and one restaurant. A drive to Albany, our state capital is only 40 minutes away, as well as the super happening city of Troy. We are 30 minutes from the gorgeous Berkshires, Great Barrington, and Kripalu (A center for yoga and health that includes a delicious restaurant, a store, and many classes and workshops with world renowned teachers.) As you can see, we are very centrally located!

Delightful for 2 people, roomy enough for 6. Charming vintage apartment in half an old boarding house from 1900. It's a Greek Revival house on a country lane at the foot of the Berkshires. There's bedrooms downstairs and up, living room, full kitchen and bath, as well as lawn and backyard. It offers great space for couples, families, or friends. A wonderful base for exploring the Berkshires and Hudson Valley; smart access for Tanglewood in the summer, or skiing in the winter.
We're experienced airbnb hosts, with more than 200 great reviews. We've learned that sometimes our guests want a place large enough for several people, one that has excellent amenities, privacy, and a good kitchen for cooking. You're looking for historic character, a chance to connect with nature, and convenient reach to the local sights. Also a good value; our base rate applies to the first 2 people, with up to four more priced at $15 each. We don't require a cleaning fee or a security deposit. These are the benefits of the duplex at the old boarding house; there is not much modern about it but you'll find countryside, comfort, great access, all the amenities you need, and great deal of charm too.
Our neighborhood used to be the center of town back when the old water mills down the street were in operation; now the modern town center with bank, post office and restaurants, is about 2 miles away. There are a handful of historic houses on our road. We live right across the way and can greet you, hand over your keys, and show you around when you arrive. You'll have front and back lockable doors and space for parking in your private driveway. We can also provide good local recommendations and are available in the event of any problem. The duplex at the old boarding house is a great retreat both in summer and winter, whether you are looking for a cozy break or search for culture and action. It's perfectly positioned for taking advantage of the Berkshires, including so much fine music, theater, food, art and natural beauty that you can't possibly do it all justice no matter how hard you try. Tanglewood is about 20 minutes away, and so is the Kripalu Yoga Center. There is a swift, lovely route to get to both of those from here, through pasture and forest, and ending with a wonderful view of the Stockbridge Bowl. In the winter, ski trails at Jiminy Peak or Bousquet are less than a half hour away, and Butternut is just a little farther. Hiking trails and conservancies are everywhere. In the springtime, it's great to see all the leafy woods and so many gardens emerge. It's locavore and farmer's market heaven in the summertime and fall. A treat hidden nearby is Queechy Lake, with lifeguard and sandy shore, one of the cleanest and most delicious lakes in New York state. There's also a nice local park in town, with two nice tennis courts. Check out our online guidebook for a full listing of the places we love most around here for visit or a meal. There are seven fine art museums, eight theater companies, three Shaker villages and two orchestral venues within an hour's radius. We're a good jumping-off point for visiting the Berkshire towns-- it takes about 20 minutes to get to Lenox, Pittsfield and West Stockbridge in Massachusetts, for example. You're also only about twenty minutes from several other historic towns and villages of New York, such as Old Chatham, Canaan, and Spencertown.
  • Joe and Tegan were very welcoming and helpful, as always. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, and clean. Hoping to be back soon!

    Claire2018-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a cozy place, just as described. Tegan Joy was wonderful, responsive and accommodating. Every need was anticipated, with a well stocked kitchen (they even contacted me before my trip to ask if there was anything special I would need for cooking) to deliciously comfortable sheets and well appointed furniture throughout. I will be renting Joe and Fiona’s place again once I check out the Tanglewood summer lineup!

    Janice2018-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at the old boarding house. Tegan was a fantastic host responding promptly and kindly to all our questions. The place is lovely with so many thoughtful and detailed touches. Really comfortable beds, very clean and cozy. I highly recommend a stay if you are visiting New Lebanon, Berkshires, Pittsfield or any other close by destinations.

    Tracy2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Joe and Fiona’s boarding house was pure perfection! It was conveniently located (20-30 mins drive) near Tanglewood, Monument Mountain, and tons of good restaurants! The house itself was cozy, charming, clean, and beautifully decorated. The things we appreciated most during our stay were the thoughtful touches—ample towels, great selection of body washes, access to bug repellent sprays + umbrellas, and the bowl of fresh apples on the kitchen table. Tegan, the house manager, was great and quick with responses! We would recommend the boarding house in a heartbeat and can’t wait to return!

    Linda2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our second visit to the boarding house. Joe and Tegan were friendly and responsive when we had to change our arrival plans. The apartment is cozy, clean, and comfortable. They've also added a number of amenities and personal touches since our first visit when the boarding house was newly listed. Looking forward to coming back!

    Claire2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Joe's beautiful house for almost a month and had the most AMAZING time! It is the perfect escape from the city! The house is charming, clean, quite, comfortable, and has everything you might need for a wonderful country stay. New Lebanon is conveniently located near many wonderful summer attractions around the Berkshires. We loved the many hikes possibilities, lake access, Tangelwood Festival, many museums, charming Lenox, farmer's markets, grilling our dinners, afternoon drink on the porch, and the wonderful vibes at this lovely house. Tegan welcomed us with a great guest book with lots of information and recommendations, and with fresh farm eggs and milk, wild flowers, some fruit and pasta. So thoughtful! The kitchen has everything you might need for a short or long stay. The bedroom is wonderful, with great mattress and linen. There's plenty of towels, extra linen and blankets, toilet paper, and soaps of all kinds. There's even a washer and a dryer. Thank you so much Joe and Tegan for a fantastic stay, we hope to be back soon:) Highly recommend!

  • Didn't spend much time there. Never met David, but our room was clean and as described.

  • David had a nice, clean place a good location and walking distance to shopping and eating. We would stay here again!

  • This was my first time using Airbnb and I am so glad I gave it a chance. We had David and Donna as hosts and their house is beautiful and charming. Every single corner is spotless clean and even they don not have to they offer some fruit and other things for breakfast. The house is right in downtown and so easy to walk to restaurants and convenience stores. We will definitely pick this place to stay again. Patricia

    Patricia2018-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • David was great both as a host as well as a coordinator. He stayed in touch with us both after we made the reservation, a week before we arrived as well as an email the morning of arrival day to make sure we were on time and was there anything else we needed.

    Bill2016-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • The room was lovely, no air conditioner, they were having new windows installed, but installation of a window unit was offered to me upon my arrival. I made due with a fan and slept well. The bed was very comfortable, the whole room was adorable. I had the whole second floor to myself as there were no other guests. The place was spotless and David had set up a room for guests to use with a table and chairs, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and snacks, It was very cozy. I was only there for an overnight, and I was exhausted. It was just what I needed, a very comfy bed, a good hot shower in the morning, then on my way. I wish I could have stayed longer. The house is on a busy road, and with the windows up it was a bit noisy, but earplugs were supplied. There is a pizza parlor or two right across the street along with a drug store. the Main Street is a short drive away, so the location was very good.

Charming and romantic,' Round' Cottage on the Santarella Estate in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Formerly, the cottage was sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's summer studio on the Santarella Estate. The two-story cottage has a charming bedroom with 35 foot high conical ceiling with canopied bed upstairs with views through massive, multi-paned "mill windows" to the trees and sky and out to the lily pond. The downstairs sitting room looks out on the babbling brook and lovely gardens.
Now open year-round! Charming, One Bedroom Cottage, former sculpting studio on the Santarella Estate in Tyringham, MA. Known as the "Silo Studio" Cottage. There is a bedroom with canopied queen bed upstairs and a sitting room with window bench-seat, coffee table, table and chairs, kitchenette area with wet bar with Micro/Fridge coffeemaker, toaster and bathroom with shower are downstairs. Fall asleep to sounds of the babbling brook and views to pond and forest from the large screened openings upstairs, like living in a "tree-house". Accommodates two only, fully furnished, all linens, towels included. There is Satellite DTV and Wireless Internet on site. The cottage is situated on four acres including lovely gardens, beautiful lily pond, running brooks and 2 acre woods. Absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind experience! Please Note, the cottage has traditionally been a three season rental from approximately March- November, however, due to much interest and demand, we have recently added a larger capacity pellet stove and made winterizing efforts and plan on keeping it open for guests interested in a winter experience in the cottage! Please keep in mind that access to our grounds may be limited with the accumulation of snow in winter months. During predicted extreme weather events, we will gladly work with guests to change reservations as we are always concerned for their comfort! Our lovely grounds are open to our guests. There are garden paths, babbling brook with stone bridges, loveliest of lily ponds, stone bench seating area with 'chiminea' and firewood for guest's use. There are two acres of woods with a loop trail as well. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often deserted. While we do have a pet friendly policy, prior approval and acceptance of our rules and policies is required before a pet may stay with you in our accommodations. There is also a $25.00 additional pet cleaning charge. The cottage is located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. Vehicle is necessary. Grocery and other shopping at 3.5 miles.
Tyringham Valley was one of the original settlements in Western Massachusetts. It is mostly agricultural conserved land giving it a very rural, bucolic and idyllic character. The lovely 'Hop Brook' runs through the middle of the valley which is sparsely populated with mostly historic homes, making one feel like they have stepped back in time. An original, beautifully preserved Shaker settlement sits on top of the hillside opposite Santarella, overlooking it. At the far end of the valley, the gracious columns of the burned Ashintully mansion overlook the entire valley and are all that remain of the gilded-age estate which has beautiful preserved formal gardens, great to visit and hike. The Appalachian Trail is 2.25 miles from the cottage.
  • Denise's Santarella was a wonderful experience. The property has a whimsical atmosphere to it and the Silo Studio was no exception. It was the perfect escape for a romantic getaway, and the bottle of champagne included in the mini-fridge was a much-appreciated detail. We would not hesitate to recommend the grounds and the friendly hostess and we look forward to visiting again!

  • My boyfriend and I stayed in the Silo House for a romantic weekend away and it was a wonderful experience from beginning to end! The bed is such a cozy nook, from the heated mattress pad to the soft fluffy pillows, I had to be dragged out of bed! Plus, the owner Denise is wonderful. She explained everything and answered all of our questions, gave us great restaurant recommendations and even a complimentary bottle of bubbly! Loved every second of our trip :)

    Alisha2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the best experience I've had using Airbnb. Denise and her husband are very attentive and the studio and grounds are nothing short of a real life fairytale. If you are looking to step inside of a Tolkien story or a witches cottage this is the place to visit. The grounds are draped in moss and beautiful trees and I was excited to enter the home only to hear a soothing brook rushing through the yard and classical music playing in the background. The studio is located about 15 minutes from restaurants and other attractions so you get the feeling of seclusion with a large selection of conveniences not far from the home. Can't wait to go back.

    Bill2017-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • The silo studio was magical and the area is right out of a storybook. Denise is super helpful and knowledgeable and easy to get ahold of when needed. I would definitely recommend this place for a romantic getaway.

  • We had an amazing time at this truly unique and wonderful location. Denise and Dennis were perfect hosts and took the time to familiarize us with the area as well as the very interesting history of the property itself. Highly recommended and we look forward to returning!

  • This is a wonderful place to stay. The accommodations are wonderful, gardens beautiful, and everything we needed was provided. Great spot!

  • The Silo Cottage is a uniquely wonderful place - very comfortable, restful, peaceful amid serene surroundings. We didn't want to leave. What made our visit even more extraordinary was the guided tour of the grounds and buildings - a history lesson in the making and true pride in ownership. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing escape, look no further. You can't help but fall in love with this place.

Our sunny apartment is located midway between Northampton and the Berkshires, in a lovely rural setting. The kitchen, bath and studio living area are in a private apartment, surrounded by 12 acres of open fields. The kitchen is well equipped and includes all the makings for tea and coffee. And breakfast is provided - usually in the form of fresh baked goods delivered to your door!
We're close to MassMoCA and the Clark, surrounded by lots of summertime swimming holes and wintertime skiing at Berkshire East, Notchview and Stump Sprouts.
  • Erin is an exemplary host and should be the face of hospitality for the state of Massachusetts. Her place is so immaculate and beautiful - we felt we were in bucolic heaven, surrounded by calm and green. And she made us baked goods each morning - so touching (and delicious!). Erin's calm, welcoming vibe made us feel very at home. We also really enjoyed seeing her creations - she runs (Website hidden by Airbnb) - and makes stunning, functional, simple and beautiful clothes in a workshop adjacent to the lovely apartment. We cannot wait to return.

  • Cozy place with beautiful views!

    Kayleigh2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, cozy place in a beautiful natural setting. The hosts were helpful and very nice. The kitchen is small and the fridge is one of those square dorm fridges. The hostess did let us keep our ice packs in her freezer in her home (which is attached). The only bathroom is downstairs and the sleeping area, in which all the beds share a common room, is upstairs. The stairs do not have a railing on the side facing the kitchen, therefore, I would not recommend this location for children for safety reasons. Other than that, the place was very, very nice and priced right.

    Anne2018-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute space! The location was great, especially since we decided to hiking. The space was comfortable, great muffins and coffee! The space was super clean and worth the price! Parking was super easy and access to fairly close stores/place/etc. Would def recommend!

    Heather2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and peaceful space. Great hosts. Very thoughtful. Delicious blueberry breakfast muffins. Little touches of consideration. I would not hesitate to stay again. If you stay there, make sure to visit the Creamery Cooperative Store very nearby. Thank you!

    Jeff2017-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, tranquil location – and delicious warm muffins! Thanks so much for the lovely stay.

    Alexandra2018-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Erin's place has everything you need for a nice weekend (or more) in the woods. Plus, she is very responsive and does leave delicious baked goods. We would go back, no doubt about it.

    Daniel2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really cute and comfortable apartment and we had a lovely time staying here while on a work trip. Communication was awesome and checking in and out couldn’t have been easier. Erin leaves thoughtful touches for guests - the highlight of which were the delicious baked goods every morning. It was a pleasure to stay here and I would highly recommend it to others.

The West Wing is located on the first floor with a private bath, king bedroom with living room. It has direct access through the main house or from the deck. The Emma Room has a king bed on the second floor, The Arden Room has a king bed. If some of your dates are booked you can switch rooms for longer stays. Looking forward to meeting you! Ken, Laurie, Tom & Robin
located in quiet residential historic district of like homes.
  • Laurie and Ken are wonderful hosts. We had most nicest stay. The house is absolutely stunning. We stayed in the West Wing which is elegant and very spacious and it felt a complete luxury coming from out tight NYC apartments.

    Edyta2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed in Ken & Laurie's stunning home on a trip to the Berkshires and Tanglewood. They had great advice and know the area well, great conversation with other guests over breakfast and the room was beautiful, as was the whole house. Get great privacy in the room and adjoining bathroom as the house is large. Would absolutely recommend a stay here

    Mark2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • quiet, clean and affordable given that is the Berkshires. Ken is a gracious host.

    Jim2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was easily the most beautiful Airbnb that I have ever stayed at. The house is incredible, with a library, a breakfast room, a dining room, living room and kitchen, in addition to our private two rooms. We had opportunities to chat with the other guests and with Ken, Tom and Robin, and my mom and I both loved the gorgeous fields in the backyard. A totally luxurious experience.

    Eliana2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • We hope to stay again next time we’re out there and will recommend to friends.

    Marie2018-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend staying at this beautiful historic mansion. The hosts are warm and welcoming. There is always interesting conversation around the breakfast table, and it is in a great location for exploring the Berkshires.

    Phil2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Edminster house is truly heaven on earth. From the moment we saw the photos of the house, we thought it would be good, but we didn't realize it would be great. And great it was. Laurie and Ken were the consummate hosts. The accommodations were exceedingly clean, the bed was comfy, hot water in the shower, scrumptious breakfast, soothing symphonic music soaring through the living room/kitchen/sun room, access to a guest kitchen, engaging discussions, and so much more. If you want a lush and relaxing getaway, this is the place. Ken and Laurie's house is a treasure and we will absolutely be staying there again. (However, if you want slamming doors, noisy elevators and ice machines, kids running around, the smell of the pool, and itchy sheets, there's a lovely chain hotel a few miles down the road.)

  • Overall great - loved the indoor and outdoor spaces, especially with the weather. Located just a block or two from downtown Pittsfield, which is nice. No problem with parking or getting in and out - and good conversation as well.

  • This house was perfect! We stayed here with four adults and an infant and it was everything we needed. It was clean and had everything you needed. The house was adorable and had a gorgeous outdoor area that we enjoyed as well. The location is so great - nice little walk into town. The owner was awesome too - super responsive with recommendations on local activities. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for a wedding we had nearby. Thank you!!!

  • Elle's home was amazing! We were traveling with small children and found it to be very kid friendly. It was very comfortable (especially the beds) and remarkably clean. We just left today and we are already planning another trip!

    Sarah2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Elle and Christian's home is simply perfect! It is all newly renovated and was absolutely spotless. Kitchen had everything one could need for ay kind of cooking. The bathrooms were lovely with plenty of towels-great water pressure. The bedrooms had lovely linens. Plentiful extra linens in the closet if needed. They even supplied firewood to use in the working fireplace. It was too cold to walk to town when we were there, but hope to return in warmer weather to go back and enjoy the house and all of Lenox and all of the surrounding towns. Elle was very easy to communicate with.

    Laura2018-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay in the Berkshires! It was clean, light, airy and close to downtown Lenox. The check-in and out were easy too. We would definitely stay here again.

  • I could not recommend this Airbnb more ! Such a piece of Heaven at the end of a street for even more sense of peace. The entire time our daughter asked us to move here. The view from every window is relaxing and stunning. The thought to details of aromatherapy to coffee ,tea and more is amazing. Such a bright clean quite place. I would never of known they even had dogs and yet the at home environment was much more welcoming than a over priced hotel. We loved everything about this home and hope to visit again

    Laura2018-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough about Dell and Susan's place!! The views were fabulous, it was easy to get to, the accommodations were above expectations. Many details were thought of such as phone chargers, coffee, tea, books, soap, etc etc!! It was clean and super comfy. We enjoyed hiking in the area, drinking coffee in the morning in the yard with breathtaking views, visiting their alpachas and fireflies at night. We will definately be back!!

    Susan2018-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Dell & Susan's place was roomy, comfortable, and very convenient for our short stay in Williamstown.

    Amika2018-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Dell & Susan have created a beautiful and peaceful space for themselves and their guests. The aspects of a rental most important to me such as quiet environment, comfortable bed & pillows, & clean surroundings were all met. We also appreciated the USB outlets in each bedside lamp for charging our phones at night. We will definitely stay again on future visits to Williamstown and highly recommend the place to anyone else traveling to the area.

    Steve2018-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Colonial Alpaca farm was a little slice of heaven! The suite was immaculate and very cozy. Can't wait to return!

    Elizabeth2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Le but de notre visite était MassMOCA, et on n'aurait pu espéré mieux comme emplacement. Calme absolu et proximité à la fois de Williamstown et de la superbe route menant au sommet du mont Greylock.

    Patrice2018-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • This room with a view worked well for us. The house and property are magnificent. Susan was very pleasant and helpful, and the room, with a separate sitting room, was clean and orderly and perfect for our stay. It’s everything as described and then some. Having juice, water and excellent coffee was a plus. Visited with the alpacas too. Wish we could have stayed longer and we are already talking about another visit.

    Ralph2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you can dream it, Dell and Susan have thought of it. Sure, it's nice to find real half & half and oj in the mini fridge, but would you expect a white noise machine or an essential oil diffuser, amazing vistas out every window, alpacas in the barn, really good coffee, an ac unit that (I'm sorry, I'm from Massachusetts originally, but the climate is NOT my Grandma's climate!), Turkish cotton bath towels, a lighted makeup mirror, good water pressure... there's more, but that's what I can remember at the moment. Probably top 1% of Air B&Bs worldwide. Truly.

Joan's house was exactly what we expected. The room was as shown in the picture - clean with a really comfortable bed. The linens and towels were nice as well. The only downside is that we felt like we had to do alot of driving as her house is out of the way from where we were going. But that is also an upside in that it was a really beautiful quiet setting. Joan provided coffee for us in the morning which was really nice. Unfortunately, we never got to meet Joan as she was busy all weekend but hopefully next time.

Our family had a great meet up in Hudson for a family event; two traveling from Boston, two traveling from Maryland. Everyone was very comfortable. The apartment and furnishings are beautiful. Carol's place was a great place for us to spend some quality time together with a good bottle of wine from the local wine shop. Hudson's main street is a very short block away, just far enough to avoid the noise. All of the wonderful shops, galleries, and restaurants of Warren Street were easily accessible. We were always able to find a parking space on the street near the house. I've been driving through Hudson for many years and was delighted to have a reason to stay for a weekend.

Barbara was very welcoming and flexible which made our arrival and departure very easy. We had an amazing time at her house! The room is cute, the bed comfy and the jacuzzi ideal for a relaxing getaway! Plus, Warren Street with all the restaurants and antique shops is right around the corner which makes it very easy to enjoy the quaint Hudson! Thanks again Barbara!
