Cosy old stone family farm house in very quiet remote location, perfect for family gatherings and small quiet celebrations. Idyllic setting and views, lovely walks, all year round indoor heated pool. Large inglenook fireplace, music player, Wifi, Apple TV PLEASE DO NOT ENQUIRE FOR DATES THAT ARE ALREADY MARKED AS UNAVAILABLE BECAUSE THEY ARE UNAVAILABLE!
A rare, old, characterful rural farmhouse set in idyllic surroundings at the end of a long private bumpy drive. Ideal for family or birthday gatherings, weekends with friends, or family Devon holidays in the summer, with lovely walks from the house. Perfect for family gatherings, quiet friend get-togethers, quiet hen gatherings and small celebrations (but NOT parties), this is a beautiful family home with open plan kitchen (with Aga) and dining room, overlooking the garden and beautiful countryside. It can comfortably sleep 12 people, and 14 if you use the library and studio. **For PRICES, please use the Airbnb site with your dates and guest numbers rather than messaging me, as you'll get a faster and more accurate answer! If the dates say it is available, then you can assume it is available and send a booking request! All other questions welcome.** The large sitting room has an inglenook fireplace with a great wood-burning stove, and an adjoining library with an extra bed in it if you've got a lot of people staying. It has 3 large double bedrooms, 2 with ensuite bath and shower rooms, and a third bedroom with bath and shower room right next to it, all on the first floor. On the top floor, there are two more bedrooms (one double one twin) and a single extra bed on the landing. There is a library downstairs with a double sofa bed, plus a double bed and double sofa bed out in the pool studio. (We don't recommend using the studio for sleeping in the winter months as it can get very chilly!) The house is at the end of a 500 metre, tree-lined private driveway which is very bumpy, with a gravel drive for parking your car (and a garage if necessary, by arrangement). A maximum of 4 cars per group, please ask us if you require more. It is a very remote location, down a tiny lane, off a B-road in an extremely quiet and exceptionally beautiful setting, however, there are neighbours at each side of the house and so you will need to be respectful of those living next door during your stay. The nearest town (Honiton) is 6 miles away and has all the shops you need, including lots of local food producers and some larger supermarkets. (The bread from the Honiton bakery is exceptional). There is a BBQ and an L-shaped garden which extends around the side of the house into an orchard with a croquet lawn. The remarkable thing about this house is that it is big enough to comfortably swallow a dozen people without feeling crowded, but also small and cosy enough to be a lovely place to go just as a couple. The large master bedroom has a small table and chairs in the window overlooking the marvellous view, which can be a great place to have breakfast. It's a very special place, cosy in winter, wonderful in summer and with a heated indoor pool available all year around. If you are thinking of booking for a week or two, my changeover day is a Sunday rather than a Saturday (as I have many weekend-only bookings Fri-Sun). This isn't set in stone, but is a preference. Private driveway Pool Garden Wireless Internet Large inglenook fireplace surrounded by sofas Baby Grand Piano Aga Fridge/Freezer Washing Machine Dishwasher I'm generally away when guests are staying, but might be in one of the cottages. Happy to help with tips once you're here! This is one of the quietest places in England I've ever been It's so peaceful and tranquil. You feel completely isolated at this spot, but it's only a 10 minute drive to Honiton with antique shops and cafes, and another 20 minutes further to the wonderful city of Exeter. Right on the edge of Blackdown Hills, the Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty. You really do need a car to get around! Taxis need booking days in advance if you do want to get the train and get a cab to the house.
The house nestles on the edge of the Blackdown Hills Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty (AONB). It is a truly beautiful part of the English countryside. It has the perfect blend of isolation, but with a county town of Honiton within a 10 minute drive, and the historical city of Exeter within 25 minutes.
  • Accurate description and listing - we (14 persons) had a great stay. All the facilities were as described and we made great use of the indoor pool. Anna, the housekeeper, also ensured we were very well looked after. Charlie, who we booked with, ensured his communication and information was prompt and clear and allowed us the flexibility we required with the booking.

  • Charlie was an exceptionally attentive and thoughtful host, who did very well to make us feel welcome and settled (even being a large group of 16 people). The house itself (and attached cottage) was stunning, with a lovely welcoming feel to it, and in a beautiful part of England. Would absolutely recommend this property, as we were very sad to leave it!

  • My inner meanie wants to give this property an average review in the hope that I may keep it a secret to myself for a little bit longer - waa haa haa...!! But I couldn't possibly, this property is too gorgeous to keep secret... To start Charlie was the easiest and most charming host - and an absolute dream to communicate with. The property itself is idyllic, and in a wonderful rural location yet only 6 miles to the nearest town for supplies. Beautiful shingle beaches and dramatic coastlines are less than a 30 minute drive, and the north Devon surf beaches are only 1 and a half hour drive for surfing and vast sandy spaces. Charlie was fabulous in recommending his favourite spots, which we visited and had to agree, they are fabulous...! The days we stayed at the beautiful farmhouse were spent walking and having adventures, sitting in the orchard with a book, or of course swimming in the heated pool - which we all loved...! The house was well equipped with everything you'll need - it really does feel like a country home from home - I only wish it was mine...! Thank-you Charlie, we will definitely be back again...!

  • Charlie was extremely accomodating and I would not hesitate in recommending his farmhouse. We loved both the house and pool, which was always at the perfect temperature. Its in a fantastic location with views over open countryside.

  • My family and I stayed at Charlie's charming farmhouse last week and had a wonderful 3 days together. The house is located in an idillic setting that overlooks acres upon acres of fresh green fields and sheep. There is nothing more blissful than waking up to a beautiful view of English countryside paradise. Think Holiday the movie (with Kate Winslet but better!) My baby nieces and cousins got to run around outside the cottage chasing sheep - a rare but novel opportunity for city slickers! The kitchen was fully equipped with absolutely every utensil and device you could think of. They even had an Aga! Perfect for groups that like to cook. We managed to roast and BBQ our huge slabs of beef joints (bought in a local farm shop down the road) one evening. Rooms were very comfortable with towels and bed linen provided. Lots of books, a couple of board games and a wide film selection on TV also kept us busy - not to forget the swimming pool at the back. We visited Seaton, a local seaside town (20 mins drive away) where some of us were brave enough to take a dip in to the sea. We even went strawberry picking nearby and later devoured them while watching the sunset in the garden. All in all a fabulous stay. Thank you Charlie for accommodating my family. Will definitely be recommending the place to friends.

  • A lovely weekend in stunning countryside! A wonderful house and Anna was so helpful. Delicious homemade cake on arrival too! Some of the bedrooms are more basic than others but would overall recommend. Thank you!

  • The house was lovely and Anna was incredibly helpful. Clean, cosy and a great place to spend the weekend. We arrived to two freshly baked cakes which was a bonus!

  • We had a brilliant week, the farmhouse was fantastic! The views were amazing and constantly changing. With the side gate closed the garden was completely fenced so we could let our dog out without worrying. The pool was great and lovely and warm - perfect for all the family. The house was spacious comfortable and the Aga and fireplace were great. Just down the hill from the entrance to the farm track is a bridle way which leads down to a little stream where the kids and dog spent hours exploring. Great lunches at the Tuckers Arms and the candlelight inn both only a short drive. Great location for some good bike rides and runs too. Great weather meant we could use the gas bbq too for many of our dinners! All in all couldn't have asked for anything more.

  • This was a fantastic place to stay with our extended family. Plenty of room in and outside the barn. Sam and Ali were extremely welcoming and even let us have a cuddle with the new pups! We would definitely stay here again.

  • Very hospitable and accommodating! I booked it over several days as I was catering for a wedding and had numerous staff arriving at different times which didn't throw Ali at all. Lovely, clean place and in such a beautiful location. Would definitely return.

  • The eight of us (two families) only stayed one night but we wish had booked longer. Plenty of nice things to do and a proper chill out from a hectic routine. Sam and Ali were very helpful and the place was spotless.

  • Ali was a fabulous hostess, keen we were comfortable and happy - she even went the extra mile for us, to drive out on a Saturday night to find members of our party who were lost in the countryside/dark/howling weather! A really good spot for a large gathering! We all loved the fact there was no wifi or mobile phone reception - there were no distractions, so it felt like stepping back in time..would definitely love to come back here in the summer - an incredibly rural and beautiful setting.

  • A great option for a group. Clean, spacious and good cooking facilities. Recommend!

  • Me and a group of 16 friends had a wonderful time at Sam and Ali's barns! We rented both of them and had plenty of space. Highly recommend :)

The Bluebird Penthouse has beautiful panoramic views, 1950's charming vintage interior with a touch of luxury. The Hot Tub is in a vintage landrover. Features double bed, bath, shower, toilet, cooker, fridge, table, radio, central heating, outdoor seating, Gas BBQ, chimnea/fire and wine cellar.
A retro style oozing with charm and quirky features. The Bluebird and the Hot tub have stunning views across the valley. It's light airy and seriously warm!
  • Very nice remote location, clean and very pleasant.

  • bluebird was stunning! unfortunately our car broke down on the way which meant we only got a few hours there, but we still made the most of our one night stay - I'd staying recommend longer if you really want to experience bluebird. We'll be back!

  • The Bluebird penthouse is fabulous and charming. Fantastic location, the views are amazing. The caravan is very unique. We loved it. Would recommend to all.

  • As two Londoners it was a perfect location to a escape the rat race and simply sit back and relax and enjoy the views. The caravan reached all expectations and more! All you need to do is sit in the hot tub, with a glass of wine and soak it all in! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a slightly different, yet relaxing night away.

  • Lovely stay, very rural and quiet but great place to have some time out and relax. Spent our time eating bbq food, enjoying the hot tub and making the most of sunshine with a few drinks. Even nicer at night to sit the hot tub and enjoy the stars!

  • The Bluebird penthouse is a must!!! It’s such a beautiful place, the views are incredible and the hot tub is something everyone should experience! We had the best time. There were sheep in the field next door and were so close it was amazing to see especially as you could see it all from the comfort of the bed :)

  • Both me and my partner enjoyed our night stay in the Bluebird penthouse and exceeded all of our expectations. Plenty of amenities, lovely bath, plenty of storage, cosy bed etc. The view was gorgeous, especially at night with the stars and the moon in the sky and the fields covered in a layer of fog! The hot tub definitely made it for us - so relaxing! We connected our phones to the radio with some old school music to match the perfect setting which made it that extra special. (We recommend the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and 2). We were very sad to leave and will definitely be returning for a longer stay. Thank you, Bluebird! xxx

  • This place was amazing!! Stunning location, comfy, warm, suprisingly spacious and cool decor. The landrover hot tub is really cool. Easy to use, lovely and toasty, easily accessible and fun! The drive up might not be for the faint hearted (or for a pathetic little hire car like mine), but it’s more than worth it!!!! Would love to go back. Can’t recommend more!

With magnificent views over rolling fields out to the Atlantic ocean our cottage offers a chance to explore the wild wonderful coast of North Cornwall at its best!
Our cottage was featured in the National Guardian Top Ten Cool Cottages in North Cornwall 2014 !! We offer rustic simplicity! It has a seperate snug with TV and DVD. A large vaulted bedroom, and kitchen /dining/ seating room with log burner and views out to the Atlantic ocean.
Breathtaking cliff top walks, wander across beautiful beaches, come home to a roaring log fire, cozy up and watch a classic movie with a glass of wine!
  • Thank you for the most amazing stay in such a picturesque and quaint cottage. The cottage was everything we hoped for and more. Hosts very kind, soup and bread was a lovely touch. They ensured that we were happy and comfortable. There are lots of things to see and do around the area, boscastle is lovely as is Tintagel! The castle is definitely worth a trip as well as the coastal walks. The weather was not ideal during our stay, very windy and rainy however we thoroughly enjoyed our stay would definitely visit again and definitely recommend the cottage 10/10!

  • Fantastic stay at this lovely cottage! Caroline was a fantastic host. The cottage itself is the absolute perfect size for 2 people its spacious yet cosy. The bed was phenomenal comfy and everything you needed was there including ground coffee, teabags, oil, vinegar. It is the little touches which make this such a fantastic place!

  • I booked this gorgeous cottage as a treat for my mum and dad and I certainly made the right choice. They LOVED it. They said the welcome from Caroline was perfect with delicious soup waiting for them after their 6 hour drive, a fire ready to go and the most comfortable bed you could wish for! Caroline also helped suggest good places to eat in the area which was very helpful and meant every meal was fantastic. The weather was good and they found plenty of beautiful beaches to visit nearby, enjoyed looking around Boscastle and found that everyone they met was incredibly friendly. This beautiful cottage was a fabulous way for my parents to experience Airbnb for the first time and after hearing how lovely it was I'm looking for any chance I might have to visit myself! x

  • We were made to feel really welcome from the minute we arrived. It was freezing cold outside but the log burner was lit ready for us, with homemade bread, humous and olives on the table. We had a wonderful time, had an amazing breakfast at Boscastle farm shop and enjoyed walking around the local area. The bed was really comfortable and the cottage had everything we needed. Thank you!

  • We had a lovely time at Caroline’s Cottage. It was very nice and out of the way. We were welcomed with fresh soup and bread which was a lovely surprise, especially coming in a bit late at night. The cottage has all the needed amenities for cooking, and a lovely double bed on the second floor. The cottage is a bit chilly but once the radiators are adjusted and the log burner is going it does warm up quite quickly. Just keep an eye on the fire! Thank you again to Caroline and Tony for the great hospitality!

  • My stay at "Little Sheppy", whilst brief, was a pure delight! I arrived on a dark and stormy night to the welcome of a pot of beautiful home-made soup and bread together with a cheerful, crackling fire. Everything about the cottage was perfect - from it's location atop a hill overlooking the windswept surrounds of Boscastle to it's beautiful, comfortable, well-appointed sea-greeny interior. The cottage is also only a short distance to the lovely St Juliot's church, for all those Thomas Hardy fans out there! My stay at Little Sheppy was a big highlight of my trip to the UK and I can't recommend Caroline more highly as a host nor the quality and great value of the accommodation itself. I wish 2 nights had been 2 months!

  • Great cottage with amazing views! Caroline is a lovely host and we would highly recommend this as a place to stay to explore Cornwall

  • The location of this place is perfect-practically on the Coast Path and has fantastic views. Caroline was so kind & helpful. We were greeted with homemade soup & bread when we arrived. Thebed was very comfortable and the cottage was clean & had everything we needed.

Sandria was really welcoming and accommodating from the start... The house is lovely and the location is ideal, just a short walk to croyde centre. We felt completely relaxed and welcome in the cottage, and made some excellent new friends in Milo, baby and Elvis the chihuahuas!

We really enjoyed our stay at Chapel Downs farm :-) It was conveniently located for access to Crediton (on foot) and Exeter (by car or bus 5). The site is secure, well maintained and well presented. We would definitely recommend to others and visit again!

We spent our 4 day honeymoon here during August 2016 .Jules had left us a bottle of local wine , a congrat card and box of biscuits plus wild flowers. It was a lovely gesture , thanks ! The weather was glorious and we took advantage of the peace and quiet of the accommodation to enjoy the outdoor space . In addition we explored the SW coastal path , Lyme Regis town which is extremely picturesque and the nearby village of Uplyme which has a pub and is the start of a pretty and flat 30 min walk into Lyme. We would unreservedly recommend this Airbnb especially for those who enjoy nature and quiet . It was just perfect and Jules was a welcoming and friendly hostess ! Many many thanks for providing such a delightful place ! Verena and Mick UK/Spain .
