Built on a knoll that inspired its design sits a house of stone overlooking Lake Michigan, its architect Earl Young called it home for over 30 years. Young designed and built this mushroom house and he chose the best spot in Charlevoix to do so! You will feel like you’re at a private retreat on your back deck up two stories high. See the sky changing colors from the front window and hear the lake rolling too, 2 gas fireplaces, original layout, tile work and Young’s original dining table!

Enjoy summer days or wintry splendor. We are located in a rustic area of northwest Michigan, 15 miles north of Harbor Springs, within 2 miles of the Tunnel of Trees. We are conveniently located for nature preserves, hiking trails, beautiful beaches, ski slopes, and Mackinaw Island. Our home is attached to the guest suite but guests access their suite via a secured private entrance. Our equipped kitchen has a pantry, fresh farm eggs, butter, a home-baked item, ground coffee, and teas.

A community gas grill, tables and chairs, swings, and a fire pit are available to guests in the lakeside courtyard, or in winter settle in beside the condo’s electric fireplace to enjoy the frozen lake views and watch the ice fishing. Watch for bald eagles, loons, swans, and other wildlife!
